Mankatha Movie Review Blockbuster Super Hit

Game on in Ajith style

It's Ajith's 50th venture. What more it s directed by Venkat Prabhu with betting scandal in cricket as its theme. A huge star cast including Trisha, Arjun among others raised all expectations. Thats Mankatha. Lets check out the review.

Story

Mankatha is a racy and adrenaline-rushing story of a Maharshatra police officer Vinayak Mahadevan (Ajith) who is suspended for helping a smuggler to escape from police encounter. He starts leading life in his own way. He falls for Sanjana (Trisha), daughter of an influential local goon Arumuga Chettiyar (Jayaprakash) in Mumbai. A tough cop Prithvi (Arjun) takes charge to end betting scandal in IPL cricket in Mumbai. Arumuga uses his links with dons in Mumbai tries to route through his old theatre , a cash of over Rs 500 crore to be used in betting.

Sumanth (Vaibhav), a goon working for Arumuga Chettiyarplans to take away the booty with the help of his friends Ganesh (Ashwin), Mahanth (Mahanth), who owns a bar in Mumbai and Prem (Premji), a IIT graduate. Vinayak joins the race. he promises to help them and divide it between them. Trouble starts after they take away the acsh. Both Arumugha Chettiyar and police are now on their heels. Meanwhile, Mahanth and Prem escape with the cash. It all upto Vinayak now. The battle shifts between him and Prithvi.

Performance

Its Ajith all the way. He is simply amazing in the role of a dreaded baddie. With his usual looks sans makeup, he hogs all limelight. His one-liners brings laughter. Arjun does the role of a cop once more. But he is charming here. Trisha and Lakshmi Rai does play their part well. Andrea as Arjun's wife and Anjali in the role of Vaibhav's wife do minuscule roles.Vaibhav gets a meaty role and he utilise the opportunity. Premji did what he did in Goa and Chennai 28.

Technicalities

It is technically well-made. Sakthi Saravanan's lens captures the stunts well. It forms the backbone of the movie. Yuvan Shankar's tunes add variety to it. His open song Mankatha...is celebrated in theatres. Director Venkat Prabhu seems to have done his part well. He has laced thrills, spills and humour in right mix.

Analysis

Mankatha is boyish film. It is all racy and rivetting.The first half is light and simple. The game really begins in latter part. With Venkat Prabhu and Ajith giving their best, Mankatha rocks all time.

Mankatha to release on August 31st: All set to break records

Time to celebrate for all Ajith fans! The star’s 50th film Mankatha will be out on August 31st. The film will hit the silver screens in all the national and international markets on August 31st except Kerala. After a lot of confusion in the release date, now everything seems to have been sorted out and the film will hit the screens to cash in on the Ganesh Chaturthi and Ramzan weekend.

As the countdown for the release of ‘Mankatha’ has already started the team is all set for the big launch of the film worldwide and leaving no stone unturned to make the film a big hit. Mankatha is directed by Venkat Prabhu and is being marketed aggressively by Sun Pictures. The film is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies.

The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of Mankatha have gone to Radhika Sarath Kumar’s Radaan Media Works. Radhika had procured the theatrical rights from Sun Pictures and will distribute the film in Tamil Nadu. Ajith starrer Mankatha may be screened in about 300 theatres in Tamil Nadu alone. Although the theatrical rights are given to Radaan, Radhika clarified that the satellite rights of the film still rests with Sun Pictures.

Sources say that non-availability of theatres in Kerala due to Ramzan and other festivals is the main reason for not screening the movie in Kerala. It is expected that Mankatha will be released in Kerala on September 9th; 2011.The film will be releasing as a pure Tamil version in Kerala and will be dubbed in Telugu for Andhra viewers. For worldwide audience the film will see its release with English sub-titles.

Fans Upset Over Ajith on dismantling his Fan Clubs

Friday was a day of good and bad news in Kollywood. First came the launch news of Superstar Rajinikanth’s forthcoming venture ‘Rana’, and what followed were the details about his hospitalisation.

And hours before the Tamil cinema went into celebration mood to know that K Balachander has been selected for Dada Saheb Phalke award, Ajith gave a shock to everyone saying that he is going to dissolve his fan clubs.

Says ‘Attagasam’ P Shankar, an avid Ajith fan who works for a financial services company, “We are upset with the Thala’s decision. Some of the fans might have irked Ajith without obeying his instructions. But we are his loyal followers. He should reconsider the decision.”

We learn that Ajith fans from all over the world have been contacting his Narpani Iyakkam’s head office requesting the Thala to withdraw his announcement. “This is a shock to us when we are gearing up to celebrate his birthday,” they said.

Though May 1 is known all over India for being Labour’s Day, fans across Tamil Nadu associate it with the birthday of actor Ajith. Come Sunday and ‘thala’ will be celebrating his 40th birthday. Just a couple of days ahead of his birthday the actor has opened his heart out for all his fans.

Here is what the actor had to say to his fans right ahead of his birthday:

Ajith started his acting career with ‘Amaravathi’ and ‘Mankatha,’ that is shortly scheduled for a release, will mark his 50th film in the industry. At this juncture the actor thanks the people who were with him; his co actors, actresses, his directors, technicians, his friends, fans and family who have been there as a source of constant support in this journey of his. But of late, there has been something that has been occupying Ajith’s mind and the actor felt this as the right time to unleash his thoughts to his fans.

Ajith claims that he has never used his fans as a tool for any personal gains nor has he used them as a shield for his likes and dislikes in the industry, and also would never use them for such purposes. The fans have the right to support him if his films do well and criticize him if his films don’t do so well. He has also revealed that he fully understands that people in his fan club as well as the others who don’t belong to his fan club enjoy his films equally, and there is no difference between the two as far as Ajith is concerned. Ajith has also made it very clear, time and again that no one’s family should suffer due to his working for the fan club.

But there are certain unpleasant things that have been happening recently in the fan club. At certain places there is rivalry being propagated, some people have begun to act individually without following orders passed by the general body, and some fans are not heeding to their rules; some people are also using the fan club for political purposes and all these acts have come down heavily upon the actor’s faith in the smooth running of his fan club.

So just a couple of days ahead of his birthday the actor has come up with a decision which might come a shock and surprise to many in the industry. Ajith has decided that the Ajith Fan Club which has been functioning under his name would be dissolved from May 1st. The actor is of view that to do good one needs a good heart. Not only that, the actor, through his note has also revealed that with the changing times the temperament of the people has also changed. They are very receptive to the things happening around them and only an actor who is genuine can be a star. Only such a star would earn dignity, a good name and fame from the people.

Ajith signs off saying that only that dignity and the support of his fans in this decision of his would be his best birthday gift.

தமிழ் திரையுலகின் முக்கியமானவர்கள் பட்டியலில் இருப்பவர் அஜீத். பஸ்ஸில் கண்டக்டராக இருந்து நடிகரான ரஜினியை அடுத்து தனது சொந்த முயற்சியில் வெற்றியும் தோல்விகளையும் ஒரு சேர பார்த்தவர் அஜீத். இன்றும் எனது விருப்பதற்காக எனது ரசிகர்களை பயன்படுத்த மாட்டேன் என தனது நற்பணி மன்றங்களை எல்லாம் களைத்து விட்டு இன்றும் தான் உண்டு தனக்கு பிடித்த சினிமா உண்டு என்று ஒதுங்கி வாழ்பவர் நாளை தனது 40 வயதில் அடியெடுத்து வைக்கிறார்.

அவரை பற்றிய 40 துளிகள் இங்கே..

தெலுங்கு படமான பிரேம புஸ்தகம் மூலம் திரையுலகிற்கு ( வருஷம் ) அறிமுகம் ஆனார்.

தமிழில் 'அமராவதி' என்ற படம் மூலம் அறிமுகம் ஆனார். அத்திரைப்படத்தை அடுத்து பாசமலர்கள், பவித்ரா, ராஜாவின் பார்வையிலே என பல படங்களில் நடித்தார்.

தனக்கு எதிர்பார்த்த வெற்றி இல்லையே என தவித்தவர்க்கு 'ஆசை' என்ற படத்தின் மூலம் வெற்றியை கொடுத்தவர் வஸந்த். அந்த படத்தை தயாரித்தவர் மணி ரத்னம்.

அடுத்தடுத்து பல படங்களில் நடித்தாலும் காதல் கோட்டை, காதல் மன்னன் போன்ற படங்களின் வெற்றியால் முன்னணி கதாநாயகனாக வலம் வர தொடங்கினார்.

1998ம் ஆண்டு வெளிவந்த 'காதல் மன்னன்' என்ற படத்திற்கு கிடைத்த பெரும் வரவேற்பை அடுத்து தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள அனைத்து தரப்பு ரசிகர்களையும் கவர்ந்தார்.

அமர்க்களம் படப்பிடிப்பில் ஏற்பட்ட காதலால் ஷாலினியை 2000-ம் வருடம் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார். நட்சத்திரத் தம்பதியினருக்கு வாரிசு 'அனோஷ்கா' என்ற குட்டி தேவதை.

தனது பெயருக்கும் முன்னால் எந்த பெயரையும் போட விரும்ப மாட்டார். ஆனால் அமர்க்களம் படத்தில் 'அல்டிமேட் ஸ்டார்' என்ற பட்டத்தை கொடுத்தவர் சரண். அடுத்து சரண் இயக்கிய 'அசல்' படத்தில் பட்டம் எதுவும் போட வேண்டாம் என அஜீத்தே நீக்க சொல்லிவிட்டார்.

ஏ.ஆர்.முருகதாஸ் இயக்கத்தில் வந்த வெற்றிப்படம் 'தீனா'. படத்தில் " தலை இருக்கும்போது வால் ஆடக்கூடாது.. நீ ஆடு தலை.. " என்று வசனம் வரும். அன்று முதல் ரசிகர்களுக்கும் 'தல' ஆனார் அஜீத்.

அவரது சினிமா வாழ்க்கையில் சர்ச்சைகளும் விடவில்லை. நியூ, மிரட்டல், நான் கடவுள், ஏறுமுகம் என பல படங்கள் இவர் கமிட் ஆகிவிட்டு கருத்து வேறுபாடால் நடிக்க முடியாது என்று கூறி விட்டார்.

வாலி, வில்லன், வரலாறு போன்ற படங்களில் இரண்டு/மூன்று வேடங்களில் நடித்தார். அப்படி நடித்த படங்கள் எல்லாம் ஹிட்.! ஆனந்தப் பூங்காற்றே, உன்னிடத்தில் என்னைக் கொடுத்தேன், நீ வருவாய் என போன்ற படங்களில் கௌரவ வேடத்திலும் நடித்திருக்கிறார்.

மனதில் பட்டதை அப்படியே பேசிவிடுவார். அதனாலேயே பொது நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்து கொள்வதை தவிர்த்து விடுவார். சமீபத்தில் கலந்து கொண்ட 'பாசத்தலைவனுக்கு பாராட்டு விழா' என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியில் " ஐயா.. அடிக்கடி ஏதாவது நிகழ்ச்சினு மிரட்டி வர சொல்றாங்கய்யா.. " என்று மேடையில் முதல்வர் கருணாநிதியிடமே முறையிட்டார். அஜீத் பேச்சிற்கு மேடையில் இருந்த ரஜினி எழுந்து நின்று கை தட்டினார்.

இன்றும் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினிக்கு நெருக்கமானவர் அஜீத். ரஜினி நடித்த பில்லா படத்தின் ரீமேக்கில் அஜீத் தான் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்று சிபாரிசு செய்தவர் ரஜினி.

கல்யாணத்திற்கு முன்பு புகைபிடிக்கும் பழக்கம் கொண்டவர். கல்யாணம் ஆனவுடன் தனது மனைவிக்காக சிகரெட்டை விட்டொழித்தார்.

சிம்பு, ஜீவா, ஆர்யா என தமிழ் திரையுலகின் அடுத்த தலைமுறை நாயகர்கள் ஃபேவரைட் எப்போதும் அஜீத் தான். அதிலும் சிம்பு ஒரு அஜீத் வெறியர்.

பல நாயகர்கள் தாங்கள் நடிக்கும் படங்களுக்கு நாயகியாக இவர் தான் வேண்டும் என்று சிபாரிசு செய்வார்கள். ஆனால் அஜீத் எப்போதும் நாயகி விஷயத்தில் தலையிடுவது இல்லை.

'நேருக்கு நேர் படத்தில் அஜீத்தும் விஜய்யும் இணைந்து நடித்தனர். இருந்தாலும், கருத்து வேறுபாடு காரணமாக அஜீத் படத்திலிருந்து விலக, சரவணன் என்ற இளைஞரை அஜீத் நடித்த வேடத்தில் நடிக்க வைத்தார் இயக்குனர் வஸந்த். சரவணனுக்கு சினிமாவுக்காக சூட்டப்பட்ட பெயர் சூர்யா.

அஜீத்தும் விஜய்யும் இணைந்து நடித்த ஒரே படம் 'ராஜாவின் பார்வையிலே'. அதன் பிறகு இருவருக்கும் என தனித்தனியாக ரசிகர்கள் கூட்டம் சேர, இணைந்து நடிப்பதைத் தவிர்த்தனர். இருவரும் தொழில்முறையில் போட்டியாளர்கள் என ஆகிவிட, அவர்களது ரசிகர்கள் தங்களுக்குள் மோதிக் கொண்டனர். 'மங்காத்தா' படப்பிடிப்பில் விஜய்யும் அஜீத்தும் சந்தித்து கொண்டதிலிருந்து இன்றும் இருவரும் நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களாக இருந்து வருகிறார்கள்.

சுப நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கு போகிறாரோ இல்லையோ துக்க நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் நிச்சயம் கலந்து கொள்வார். சமீபத்தில் பாடகி சித்ராவின் குழந்தை நந்தனா இறந்ததற்கு நேரில் சென்று ஆறுதல் கூறினார்.

தனது 50வது படமான மங்காத்தாவில் ஜார்ஜ் க்லூனி போன்ற கெட்டப்பில் நடித்து வருகிறார். வாலி, வரலாறு என தான் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்த படத்தில் வில்லனாகவும் நடித்திருந்தாலும், மங்காத்தா படத்தில் வில்லனாக மட்டுமே நடித்து வருகிறார்.

சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு நீங்கள் அரசியலில் ஈடுபட வேண்டும் என்று அஜீத் ரசிகர்கள் சிலர் கூறவே " எனது பெயரை தவறாக உபயோகித்தால் ரசிகர் மன்றத்தை கலைத்து விடுவேன்" என்று எச்சரித்தார். நடந்து முடிந்த சட்டப்பேரவை தேர்தலில் இவரது பெயர் தவறாக உபயோகப்படுத்தப்படவே தனது அனைத்து ரசிகர் மன்றங்களையும் கலைத்து விட்டார் அஜீத்.

அஜீத் ரசிகர் மன்ற கலைப்புக்கு கூறும் காரணம் " மாறிவரும் காலகட்டத்தில் மக்கள் எல்லாரையும் உன்னிப்பாகக் கவனிக்கிறார்கள் என்பதைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு, திரைப்படங்களுக்கு அப்பால் பொதுமக்களின் பார்வையிலும் கண்ணியமாக தென்பட்டால் மட்டுமே, நடிகருக்கும் அவரது ரசிகர்களுக்கும் கவுரவம் கிட்டும் என்பது என் நம்பிக்கை. அந்த கவுரவமும், எனது இந்த முடிவுக்கு ஆதரவு அளிக்கும் என் உண்மையான ரசிகர்களின் கருத்தும் மட்டுமே எனது இந்த பிறந்த நாளுக்கு உண்மையான பரிசாகும்!"

தீவிரமான சாய்பாபா பக்தர். கார், பைக் என எந்தப் பொருள் வாங்கினாலும் பாபாவுக்குச் சமர்ப்பணம் செய்துவிட்டுதான் பயன்படுத்துவார்!

வெளி இடங்களில் தண்ணீர், பழரசம் போன்றவற்றை அருந்த வேண்டியிருந்தால், இடது கையால் தான் கிளாஸைப் பிடித்துக் கொள்வார்.

பெரும்பாலான வலது கைக் காரர்கள் பயன்படுத்தியபோது உதடுகள் பட்ட பகுதியைத் தவிர்ப்பதற்காகத்தான் இந்த முன்னெச்சரிக்கை!

சினிமாவில் நடிப்பதற்கு முன் வேலை பார்த்த ஏற்றுமதி-இறக்குமதி வணிகத்தின் நிலவரங்களை இப்போதும் அடிக்கடி அப்டேட் செய்துகொள்கிறார்!

வீடு, அலுவலகம் என எங்கு ரசிகர்களைச் சந்தித்தாலும், 'உங்க குடும்பத்துக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுங்க. மன்றப் பணிகளை நேரம் இருந்தா பார்த்துக்கலாம்!' எனப் பாசமாக வலியுறுத்துவார்!

உள்ளூர் அரசியல் பற்றித்தான் கருத்துச் சொல்ல மாட்டார். ஆனால், உலக அரசியலின் இன்றைய நிலவரம்பற்றி எந்த நிமிடமும் அவரிடம் பேச, விவாதிக்க அவ்வளவு விஷயம் இருக்கும்!

சாய்பாபாவுக்குப் பிறகு அஜீத்துக்குப் பிடித்த தெய்வம் திருப்பதி வெங்கடாஜலபதி. சென்னையில் இருந்தே இதுவரை இரண்டு தடவை நடந்தே சென்று திருப்பதி சாமி தரிசனம் செய்திருக்கிறார்!

ரேஸ் போட்டிகளில் அஜீத்துக்கு ரோல் மாடல் பிரபல ரேசர் அயர்டன் சென்னா.

அஜீத்தின் பிறந்த நாளான மே 1-ம் தேதிதான் அயர்டன் ஒரு கார் விபத்தில் இறந்தார். அதை நினைத்து தன் பிறந்த நாளன்றும் உருகி வருந்துவார் அஜீத்!

ரசிகர்களின் திருமணங்களுக்குத் தன்னுடைய பெயர், படம் போட்டு ஃப்ளெக்ஸ் பேனர்கள் அடிப்பதை விரும்பவே மாட்டார். 'கல்யாணம் ரொம்ப பெர்சனல் விஷயம்ல!' என்பார்!

தனது மொபைல் போனில் குழந்தை அனோஷ்கா பிறந்ததில் இருந்து இப்போது வரை நடப்பது, பேசுவது, ஓடுவது, சிரிப்பது என எல்லாமே குட்டிக் குட்டி வீடியோ கிளிப்பிங்குகளாக இருக்கின்றன. படப்பிடிப்பு இடைவேளைகளில் அவற்றைப் பார்த்து ரசித்துக்கொண்டு இருப்பார்!

பொதுவாக, சுயசரிதை நூல்கள் வாசிப்பது பிடிக்கும். ரஜினி பரிசளித்த 'ஹிமாலயன் மாஸ்டர்ஸ்' புத்தகத்தை அடிக்கடி வாசிப்பார். வீட்டில் மினி நூலகமே உண்டு!

அஜீத்தின் விமான ஆசை கிளை விரித்தது ஆசான் மெமோரியல் பள்ளியில். அங்கே அவர் பாடமாகப் படித்த ஏரோ மாடலிங்தான் இன்றைய ரிமோட் விமானம், பைலட் அசோசியேஷன் நடவடிக்கைகள் வரை வளர்ந்து நிற்கிறது!

உருளைக்கிழங்கு பொரியல், சாம்பார், சிக்கன் பிரியாணி சமைப்பதில் எக்ஸ்பர்ட். சூட்டிங் இல்லாமல் வீட்டில் இருப்பதாகத் தெரிந்தால், நண்பர்கள் வீட்டில் குவிந்து, பிரியாணி சமைக்கச் சொல்லி அஜீத்தை வம்பிழுப்பார்கள்!

எந்த ஹோட்டலுக்குச் சென்றாலும் புதுவித உணவு வகைகளாக ஆர்டர் செய்வார். அந்த உணவு அருமையாக இருந்தால், அதைத் தயாரித்தவர்களை நேரில் அழைத்துப் பாராட்டித் தள்ளிவிடுவார்!

News are going on in K-Town that 'Billa 2' was put om hold due to director Vishnuvaradhan's Telugu project but now the director Vishnuvaradhan clears it.

The director says that "The film will start rolling for end of April. He is looking forward for it. Ajith will be much younger and more energetic in the film. The team consisting of designer Anu Vardhan and cinematographer Nirav Shah are taking a lot of trouble to work out the new look".

Prabhu will be a part of the film. They are on the hunt for the heroin for the film. They are looking for a heroin has to be Super sexy and smart.

The director adds that he will complete the film in less than 90 days. It will release in 2011.

Third schedule of Mangatha begins

Director Venkat Prabhu has successfully completed the second schedule of Mankatha in Chennai. The crew has planned to go to Mumbai for the third schedule. Some of the scenes will be shot in Mumbai’s famous Dharavi slum where most of the Tamilians domicile. The film will be almost complete if the shooting of the sequences at Dharavi is completed. The post production work of this film will commence in the first week of March.

Ajith like the frank Rajni has started appearing with apple white beard. Ajith, director Venkat Prabhu and others of Mankatha crew are sporting white beard. In abroad, it is the practice of old people to color their white hair or beard with red or golden color. Now that practice is not there. They have decided to remain in white. Now this fad has come to Tamil Nadu through Ajith.

Now we will be seeing his fans color their black hair and beard with white color. Even while acting in Mankatha with Trisha, Ajith appears with grey hair and beard.

Here are the latest happenings from ‘Mankatha’ front. Venkat Prabhu has finished picturising three songs for the film. Ajith Intro Song that was shot in Bangkok, A kuthu song involving Ajith with Premji, Vaibhav and others shot in Chennai and a duet featuring Ajith and Trisha, also shot in Chennai. With this major development ‘Mankatha’ has completed 50 percent of its talkie portions.

And an important action scene was also completed. The highlight of this stunt sequence is that Ajith performed the actions with a Body Mount Camera weighing around 30kg mounted on his body to capture the close actions when he runs, walks and turns.

It’s a known fact that Ajith had lot of surgeries on his body and the actor avoids taking risks while shooting. But when Venkat Prabhu came up with this unique idea, Thala readily agreed. Mankatha‘s Chennai portions will get over by Monday and then the unit will move to Mumbai for the rest of the portions.

The thriller starring Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Anjali, Lakshmi Rai,Premji, Vaibhav, Makath, Jayaprakash and Subbu Panju is about gambling mafia at work during IPL cricket season.

Vishnuvardhan is finally ready to direct his favourite star Ajith once again. The ‘Billa’ duo will this time come together for ‘Billa-2’, a prequel to the blockbuster. The film will go on floors in April, once the Thala completes his 50th venture ‘Mankatha’.

“The script is ready long back and Vishnuvardhan is just waiting for Ajith to complete Mankatha. Billa-2 will be completed in 90 days and will hit the screens in 2011 itself,” say sources in the know.

They add: “Vishnuvardhan has always completed shoots of all his earlier films in three months. So he has decided to wrap up Billa-2 too within the same time. His script, which has all the technical details, will come to his rescue to achieve the target.”

IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group, has tied up with Chennai-based Wide Angle Creations led by Suresh Balaje and George Pius to produce ‘Billa 2’.

Ajith, carrying on from the blockbuster success of 'Billa' in 2007, will relive the lead role of ‘Billa’. The film, helmed by ace director Vishnuvardhan, will go on the floors in early April 2011 and is being envisaged for a release between December 2011 and February 2012.

Soumik Sen, who heads development at INE, has worked on the screenplay along with Vishnuvardhan and the same is being developed into Tamil dialogue draft presently.

Yuvan Shankar Raja (music director) and Nirav Shah (director of photography), who worked on 'Billa' are likely to be associated with this project too.

Says Sunir Kheterpal, CEO - IN Entertainment, 'INE is looking to develop and produce films with talented Film-makers in Tamil and Telugu and it is an honour to be associated with a brand like ‘Billa’, original producers of ‘Billa’ (which starred Rajinikanth) represented by Suresh Balaje, Ajith and Vishnuvardhan in our first Tamil film.'

Commenting on the association, Suresh Balaje says 'We are delighted to be working with INE and the Hinduja Group. It is a nostalgic homecoming for us as we produced the original ‘Billa’ with Rajinikanth. ‘Billa 2’ will go on the floors in early April 2011 as soon as Ajith's current project Mankatha is completed'.

Ajith adds, putting an end to all speculation around the film, it is my next film and we start filming in early April 2011. Prequel to 'Billa' is an exciting premise and I am delighted to be working with close friends, Suresh Balaje and Vishnu and am glad that we have a strong company like INE backing this project.'

Vishnuvardhan says, 'prequel to ‘Billa’ is a tremendously powerful idea and we have finalized a screenplay which matches the intensity of the underlying idea. We are working towards putting together the winning team'.

Neetu Chandra replaced by Trisha in Mankatha

Actress Neetu Chandra who was signed to play the female lead in Mankatha opposite Ajith has been replaced by Trisha. Though the reason for Neetu’s replacement is not clear, unooficial sources say that it could be her involvement in the Pakistan Match fixing scandal. Neetu Chandra’s mobile number featured in the mobile of Pakistan Player Mohammad Asif who is caught in match fixing. If Trisha is finalised and signed for this venture, then it would be her secong film with Ajith after Kireedam.
