Then lo! and behold, I fell pregnant and I had more time than I could ever imagine!  I don’t really recall how I started watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians but once I started, I got hooked.  I am obsessed about the Ks.  Especially Khloe.  She’s my favorite K!  Then the Jenner Girls.  If you ask me what attracts me to them, I wouldn’t have an answer for you.  All I know is that now I devour any articles mentioning the Ks, I tape the daily shows and catch up when I can, and I waste precious minutes visiting their blogs!

My minutes…my waste…my pleasure. :)

I wasn’t really hating but looking down their nose at me whilst, with obvious pride, they’d be ‘regaling’ me with baby stories did certainly rub me the wrong way. What I was reading into the tales were, “Poor you, no kids yet. What are you waiting for? Don’ t you know that motherhood is the best thing ever?”. And in my own head, I’d reply with, “Bitch, just because you gave birth to a child doesn’t make you woman of the year, you know!”

One day I almost told a lady to zip it up because she wouldn’t stop telling me about her daughter and grand-daughter.  Her glowing face, the pride in her voice, the compassionate look…ugh…it did my head in for days.  I kept muttering to myself, “For God’s sake! I’m living it up while I can.”  Little did I know!

This malevolent attitude got locked up somewhere the day I found I was pregnant.  No.  Not then.  I was elated, yes.  But the moment the midwife rested my child on my chest, I fell in love.  My world changed.  I swore right there and then, I’d protect him with my heart, body and soul.  The love became stronger.  And keeps on growing.  Second by second.  Minute by minute.  Day by Day.  Not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for the beautiful gift He’s given me.  I can’t imagine life without him.  I wake up to be with him.  I go to sleep because I know he’ll wake me up and adoringly bless me with his toothless smile.

Now I understand the lady’s pleasure in talking about her grandchild.  Now I understand my friends who got to become a mother before I did.  Now I really understand…

Because motherhood is truly the best feeling in the whole world.  Other achievements I’ve attained pre-motherhood pale into insignificance.

Four months into motherhood, I can tell that I’ve never felt better and happier!

Whenever I have Corned Beef and rice, I must throw it down with dollops of Ketchup or Sweet Chilli Sauce.
