Valentines is fast approaching. As much as I want to say that I don't celebrate that Hallmark-Invented-Day, I'm such a sucker for sweetness. I want that Valentine mode for myself. What to do? Where to go on a solo-mode?

I'm seriously thinking of having my own domain-I'm starting to get annoyed with blogspot. I am still at the point of planning the layout, the name and the feel of the new site...but I'm getting there. The question is, will all of you still follow me? I seriously hope so.

I just went back to Belo for a glycopeel facial and I bought my usual facial kit. Their products seriously work for me. For those who want to change their dermatologist or would like to start having a doctor for their skin (for vanity or for health reasons)...just leave me a message and I'll endorse you to my doctor. She's really good and her prescription worked wonders for me. We all deserve to feel and look fab.

Sunday 6:00PM-12:00Midnight is my study mode zone. I realized that there's so much to learn with my work and since I am aiming to be a superstar there (hihi), I really need to push myself more. As recommended by my boss, I should allot time to study and take initiative to learn more. Thus, NERD mode every Sunday works for me.

Lessons Learned By A Hopeless Romantic..v1

I have always been the romantic one.

I never play around with emotions and its very seldom for me to fall inlove with someone.

But when I do.. I'm the hopeless romantic kinda girl..

Most of the times, I end up getting hurt.

So here are few lessons coming from my broken heart and I pray that I will find strength to learn from my mistakes and come out as a wiser and stronger woman.

Honesty has to be the basis of everything.
Guard your heart and be careful with where you place your trust or how you are drawn into a persons life.
Words are just words.
Action reveals what a person truly believes and exposes their character.
It's easy to say the 5 letter word "Sorry".
It's also easy to say the 3 words "I love you".
Trust God and believe that He has an amazing plan for you. Learn to let go.
In happiness or in despair, never compromise your values.
Keep some pride and love for yourself.
Plant your own garden rather than waiting for someone to give you flowers..do things to nourish your soul.

Serendipity.

That's what I thought.

But I know better now.

Bestfriend A brought me home yesterday.

Maybe she doesn't trust my zombie mode. I'm just drifting.

On our way home, she told me to listen to this song because maybe I'll find the lyrics close to my heart.

I'm seriously not even trying to analyze what happened...what for. There's no point in trying to understand it anymore. In the end, it will just be my thoughts.

The only person who can answer my questions would be G. But he's happily skiing somewhere or out drinking beer with his friends.
My heart tells me that he does think of me. My heart tells me that maybe he will find his way back to me...but then again, I don't trust my heart anymore.

I thought I feel him and that I feel what he feels. I thought there was a deeper kind of connection between us-something rare and true. But what happened between us just showed that it was just me hoping. That my heart can't even detect a lie.
In the end, it was only me.

There was no G&K to begin with. It was never real.

It was what I wanted, It was what I dreamed of. But it was never real.

And I should start accepting that.

Like what this song tells me... maybe we are better off this way.

Flying This 2012

I have always wanted to travel more. I actually thought that I get to enjoy this with G but since he and I are no longer together.. I am going solo flight.

I have always wondered if I can do it on my own. I haven't tried this EVER...but now is a perfect time to start testing my limits..exploring more..and finding more about myself. Besides, who knows what I will encounter on my trip? Business Ideas, Work, More Acquaintances and a dose of Culture. I like Culture.

I. SINGAPORE: Should be booked soon. A week-long drinking vacation with my bestfriend Y and enough time to explore the city on my own (since bestfriend Y got work thus I only get to see her after her shift). I'm excited. Anybody in SG who wants to meet up? There are some friends who are already in SG (those who went there right after college)..so I am looking forward to meet up with them too.

II. SOUTH KOREA: Ofcourse it's "South". Us girls will go there before the year ends (before Bestfriend A gets married). We were trying to figure out where we want to go. We want snow, we don't want sun (we need to keep our complexion for the wedding), we want it in Asia, we want to wear boots (hahahaha)...thus S. Korea.

Now Trip III is difficult. I have always wanted to go Santorini, Greece but its too near Sofia. Too much sad emotions and memories can ruin a trip..and so I don't want to go there. Maybe next year when feelings are more manageable. Who knows.

So for now, Santorini is out of the picture.

New York: I miss Gary. I just received a long call from him during my lunchbreak. He shared with me some wonderful news...and I just want to be there for him. But when is the best time to go to New York?

Germany: This tops my list. I'm planning to meet A there. I'm sure I have a place to stay. I can easily go around. Bestfriend Y is also pushing for me to visit Germany this year-she's quite sure that I'll have loads of fun. I have to start preparing for this option.. My friend A needs to send me an invite.

Where are you off this 2012? For me, I can't wait to escape Manila.

When Words Are Not Enough

I have always been the talkative one.

I have always been expressive.. I talk talk talk.
I say what I mean and I mean what I say.
I never run out of words..I express myself well.
May it be in anger, in despair and in happiness-words easily pour in.. my thoughts are naturally connected to my speech.

But now, no words can express what I feel.

I don't want to talk about it.

I want to keep it all in...digest it.

It certainly feels lonely...

A certain emptiness..

It feels suffocating...

This New Company Rocks!

It's official! I am now an employee of this new company.

I had my orientation for 2 days, and I went on board last Wednesday.

It felt weird being a 'newbie'. I know I will learn a lot of new things that will eventually help my career yet I hate the feeling of being oh so needy; being dependent on my assigned 'buddy' to show me the ropes.

I have to learn fast because expectations need to be met yet I have to remain patient with myself and not be easily frustrated with situations that I am clueless of.

I like my team-warm, sincere and collaborative. I'm sure I will learn a lot from each one of them. I like being part of the workforce, I know that I am on the right track and that I belong here. I see growth and vast opportunities.

This is my new organization and I am proud to be part of it!

Christmas Is Just Around The Corner

I haven't even bought or wrapped a Christmas gift.

Oopsy, not even a single Christmas card too (I like personalized Christmas cards!).

I am that delayed in my Christmas shopping (mental note: please start soon!) because I've been preoccupied with my work turnover (I've been studying for this new role).

My mind whirled (and still whirls) around my transition to this new organization...sooo many things to do and I'm working with limited resources (I don't have a car as of the moment so its hard to get around Manila for my requirements). My thoughts are into this new exciting adventure with this new organization that I lost track that Christmas is just around the corner. Yikes.

Christmas.I like Christmas. It gives me a warm happy feeling. A day to stop all work related thoughts and simply be with my family to cook, eat and open gifts together. Its a day of laughter and love for me. I grew up spending every Christmas with my parents and my sister-so I can't even imagine not spending it with them.

This Ad from Coca Cola snapped me out from my all-about-new-work-mode and it also made me quite emotional. It centers around Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are working hard abroad for their families in Manila. I have OFW friends with bigger and happier paychecks but they would always tell me that Manila will always be their home. And most of us would agree that there's no place like home.

So even if this is staged and it's a marketing campaign.. I like it. Touched my heart and made me emotional. It's Christmas soon and how I wish everyone can spend it with the people they love most.

Year-End Transition

Tomorrow is my last day with Meginc.
I was with them for almost 6 years so this is a huge leap for me.
I'm managing my mixed-concoction of emotions. (hihi)
I'm sad to leave some dear friends behind; but I am also excited to face new people and new challenges.

Whats instore for me there? Who are the people that I'll work with? What would it be like?

Whenever I get my anxiety attacks (hihi, which usually lasts for 10 minutes), G would gently remind me that every change/beginning is not easy. I somewhat prepared my mindset and myself to embrace whatever may come my way.. I am not sure of everything but I am taking a leap with no regrets. I am blessed to have this opportunity and I am grateful.

This was the song that Y held on when she left for SG early this year.

Now, it's my turn to sing this Bruno song.

To those who are making huge changes in their life, to those who are in transition, to those who are second-guessing themselves.. I say, just take the plunge.

Cancer Resource and Wellness (Carewell) Community

I was tagging along with R when she was sending out her school's invitation for their batch alumni event; it was last Wednesday that she and I visited Carewell Foundation in Makati. It's a wellness center that provides support, education, complimentary programs and hope to cancer patients.

The center radiates a happy and calm atmosphere. There were paintings and artwork on the wall that give a cheery vibe-cute and cheery. R told me that one of the complimentary programs that the center offers is painting/collage.

I also have to mention that unlike other non-profit organizations, I find sincerity in this NGO.

The 5 Languages of Love

Dr. Chapman wrote this book and it was published in 1992.

Its been ages since then yet I still hear the buzzword 'language of love'.

The American author has more than 30 years of experience as a marriage counselor and in his book, he shares the theory/concept that everyone has their own love language and their own way of interpreting love.

He introduced the 5 languages of love as:

1. Words of Affirmation

2. Quality Time

3. Receiving Gifts

4. Acts of Service

5. Physical Touch

This "different ways of interpreting love and different ways of feeling loved" actually makes sense to me. It also explains why many couples struggle thinking that their relationships were loveless but only to discover that they have a different way of showing love.

I took the free assessment and it was validated that I feel most loved when I am given Quality Time and daily Affirmations.

Quality Time:

"In the vernacular of Quality Time, nothing says, “I love you,” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical, but really being there—with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all chores and tasks on standby—makes your significant other feel truly special and loved. Recommend An Orphanage

My bestfriend Y and I are planning to throw a thanksgiving party for an orphanage this January 2012.
Since she is based in Sinagpore, I'm like the 'project' lead of this event.
It has to be in Manila and preferably the kids should be old enough to participate in games (lets say below 10 years old)?

My Two Weeks Notice

2011: A year of CHANGE.
That should have been my 2011 horoscope (hihi)..and I would have braced myself with all the changes that this year has brought in for me. I've been very blessed.

No pinky entries the past few days because I submitted my two weeks notice last Friday. It was emotional because I found good friends in the office and I will surely miss them..but I am also sure that most of them are friends for keeps (so wherever I go, time and distance will only make the friendship grow deeper). To my girls in the office, keep the group together-happy, positive and crazy.

I've been with the company for almost 6 years so this is a BIG leap for me. I'm anxious, excited and eager to start with the new organization. December 5 will be my first day (2 days for orientation) and then I will meet my team.

I will bring in the sunshine to the group.. and I will inspire them to be the best that they can be.

Checklist v.1

When I was in college, I told myself that I will be getting one of this...

and that I will start pinning 'been there' little flags once I have visited the country. I actually thought that I will be a trekker-and that I will be hopping from one country to the other. Apparently, I have been stuck in Manila--and the reality is I have only visited a few neighboring countries (yup, no life).

I took a couple of days off from work--this was suppose to be my vacation with G; but since we had to rebook his trip---this gave me all my ME time. It ended up to be very beneficial for my well-being....

"ME time" included mucho reflection - I went back to memory lane. I remember how passionate and excited I was fresh out from college. I reflected on questions such as...What was my vision for myself back then? What was I passionate about? What instantly made me happy? What I would like to try? What I thought would give me fulfillment?

It dawned to me that I haven't done much (based on my self-made standards). I was just floating. So that prompted me to make a checklist-to give me a clearer direction on what I want to do and also to remind me that there is so much more in life to experience and learn. That I should keep on growing, to be eager to learn more, to be excited and to seek challenges, to be more involved..

Checklist (version1)

1. I NEED to travel more next year. Five countries that is on my 2012 list:

Singapore + Thailand (need to visit my bestfriend Y). Birthday next year!
Bali (an all girls vacation before bestriend A gets hitched). Will stay in Hyatt!
Sofia, Bulgaria (close to my heart).
Germany (need to visit twinny in Hameln). Fetch me at the airport! :)

2. I NEED to learn more.

Take up a short certification course to strengthen my credential. I'm still scouting for a school.

3. I NEED to try something new.

Cuban Salsa (2nd time around). Think.. Havana? I tried this before with bestfriend G before he went to New York. It was fun but I was too conscious with my left and right footing which led me to FLOP. But, I'm game to try this again! I'm hoping that I can pull my good friend M so that he can be my 'salsa partner'..hihi.
COOK. I was thinking of taking a short course in pastry--but its a bit too taxing for me because that means I have to buy all those gadgets, oven, baking tools and the works...also, that means-I'll be surrounded with too much sweets (Ekk). Since I'm trying to take sugar out of my menu-It's obvious that this is not the best choice for me. Now, I'm thinking of Asian Cuisine (to strengthen my Asian roots)...what do you think?

4. I NEED to be involved.

Be more involved with a NGO. I have to look for a group that has the same advocacy as mine. Something that hits close to my heart-and then I will pledge my support and be an active and productive member of it.

5. I NEED to allot MORE time in Reading and Writing.

I seriously want a kindle...more books!
Blog each day -> trying to make it a habit.
