Mother's Day Card Challenge for Paper Garden

Hello Everyone

Tiffany, from Paper-Garden, invited me to join their Mother's Day card challenge. Of course I responded with bright smile and excitement to join the challenge and receive their beautiful sample pack. They are a Canadian based company with fine quality paper products.

You know I just could stop with a card.... tee hee hee.

Goody goody goodness!

I created the card base with Esse Pearlized White Metallic;

Aura Haviland Blue Linen paper for the flowers and used the

negative from the flower die to create my front layer.

Creating this beauty was fun especially all the little details and elements

I used Aura Haviland Blue Linen

Very happy how my flowers came out.

I used the gold leaf pen on the petals to give it little dazzle

and finished them off with pearls

Here is my submission to

ColourArte's Monthly Challenge #1

ALTERED TEA BOTTLE

I applied white gesso on an empty tea bottle

With matte medium gel I applied a piece of mesh net and sea shells

I then again applied more white gesso

I used Colour Arte Silks

Sapphire on Ice, Sunflower and Plumeria

and blended some gesso as well to give it more dimension.and highlights

For my first layered little ship die I used Colour Arte Twinkling H2Os

Pearl Blue, Pearl red and Pearl gold

and dabbed a little the same silks on the

second layer of my ship and added dimension with form squares

I applied coarse texture gel.

It has a grain sand like texture which was perfect for this project

I embedded loose pearls, sequins and sea bead which the medium was still wet

Happy 4th of July

Today's post is my submission for

Colour Arte Design Team Call

I couldn't help but pick up this 15 1/2 inch beauty

Steampunk is a style that I love so much so I pulled out

all the stops!

I sat down in front of the T,V, cranking away and watching the first season of

Orange is the New Black. I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I can say that it has caught my attention. lol

I used dies from Cherry Lynn, Tim Holtz, Memory Box and Inspire by Spellbinder

I like to try to map out my layout prior to gluing down anything

I can say I merely a guide it changes as it goes

Now time to start adding texture

I use a mixture of modge podge and clear gesso

I used laces, painters taps and Tim Holtz Music Sheet Tissue Paper

Here is dressform painted with the white gesso

and lightly brused with black gesso to give it that

grunged aged look

Here is is the best part using all my beautiful Colour Arte Silks Acrylic

I used Ginger Peach, Teal Zircon, Sunflower, Sapphire on Ice, Sky Blue, Spicy Tomato

I love the way all the color blend in so smoothly

I also added stickles to all the words

Red poppy retains powerful symbolism

In their unique beauty, flowers have accompanied us during times of happiness and great sorrow. One flower has remained a constant symbol of death, life and remembrance since World War I. The red poppy was immortalized in the famous poem, "In Flanders Fields," written by a Canadian officer, Col. John McCrae, a physician, who was inspired by the flower.

McCrae was intrigued with the poppy, which can lay dormant in the soil for years, and its ability to reappear in great numbers.

He immediately associated it and his deep respect for his veteran patients and deceased comrades and he wrote the poem for them. Eventually, the red poppy was used as a symbol of remembrance by the British and Canadian troops, and as a fundraiser to help their disabled veterans…

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
      Between the crosses, row on row,
   That mark our place; and in the sky
   The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
   Loved and were loved, and now we lie

To you from failing hands we throw
   The torch; be yours to hold it high.

Anything But a Card Challenges No. 39 - STEAMPUNKtember Guest Designer

This month I was asked to be a Guest Designer over at Anything But a Card which is an awesome challenge site which requires you to design anything but a Card to a set heme. The theme currently is STEAMPUNK which is right up my alley!

STEAMPUNK PURSE BOX

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - I covered the box purse with black gesso and let dry

Step 2 - I applied the washed and dried eggshells with Aleen's Fast Grab Tacky Glue and let dry

Step 3 - I applied the Industrial Chic Magicals

Step 4 - Heat emboss all the die cuts and applied to box. I cut the Cherry Lynn's Gear Mesh Boarder into parts to accommodate the purse box

Step 5 - Sprayed the entire purse box with a clear lacquer spray

Step 6 - I used an old necklace for the strap and applied brown satin ribbon to the lip of the purse box

Step 7 - I attached a new catch to close the purse box

What this means we recycle or upcycle everyday products

Each designer is to come up with a creative way to upcycle crafts

from a cereal box, can of soup to old shoes to scraps of paper, etc.

I try to recycle and recreate as much as possible.

I've been wanted to create this wall decor since last year

and finally was able to do it and boy did I have fun creating this is easy peasy

You are able to find the instructions on Pinterest and YouTube

INGREDIENTS

Measuring Tape

Scissors

Foam Board

Pencil, String, Thumb Tack

Mirror (size optional)

6 Packages of regular plastic spoons (48)

Do not get the duty as they will not cut

Hot glue gun

Spray Paints (White, Gold, Melon, Sunshine Yellow)

color spray paint of your choice

E6000 Glue

DIY Spoon Mirror

STEP 1

Find the center of your board and pierce a hole

STEP 2

Thumb tack the string in the pierced hole and pencil to draw a circle

cut the circle

STEP 3

Place mirror in the center of the circle board and trace

STEP 4

Glue down mirror

Step 5

pierce 2 more holes to add string for hanging

STEP6

SPOONS

you can either spray them first then cut or cut then spray its up to you

and also the effect you are trying to accomplish

I cut my spoons first

STEP 7

you can either start from the edge of the board or from the center

edge of the mirror

Stagger the spoons in each row

STEP 8

(Optional)

cover your mirror then spray with white or primer as your

base then whatever colors you choose

I liked mine to be a little bit more organic

VOILA!

This one is going in the living room

Now to create one for my bestie

I think she would love it - in teal color of course!

I hope you look at your packaging a little differently

when you are about to through it out

I started out by getting a candy heart shaped bowl from the dollar store I rubbed some Vaseline to keep it from adhering to the bowl once it's completely dry I used Mod Podge and mixed magicals into it to get the rich vibrant colors

I also sprayed my shelled heart with beautiful spray from LSG

I used thin dies from Cheery Lynn Designs

3D Steampunk Xmas Tree

Found an old tattered book at my thrift store for 25 cents.

I found a tutorial through Pinterest.

I put gesso on the folded pages and started spraying

I used Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powders, sprays and micas

Dylusions

Used foil tape and used Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders

I bought some watch findings on www.etsy.com used Ranger's Glossy Accent to adhere the gears n cogs

found an awesome shop for the laser chip boards called www.ginasdesigns.net

the remaining embellishments are from my stash that I've collected throughout projects

Leslierahye's 3rd Annual Very Spooky Steampunk Halloween Blog Hop - October 26th

Welcome to

Very excited to join Mz. Leslierahye today. We've been blog hopping together from the beginning and want to thank her for being such and active inspiration in my life. Since we've met via internet we just clicked and our eclectic sense of designs and creations just gelled. So I am honored to and humbly thankful being here.

New changes ladies and gents (if any out there lol). I think I've found my niche and am going to run with it a big bounds. No turning back. I've held myself back for too long. I'm excited and hope that you will join me in my new journey in my life.

Enough of all that. Let's start this blog hop. Well, let me tell you when it came to this final design I was gearing towards making something totally different. I saw a pic somewhere on the web (ha I said web - tells ya'll something) of this bad ass tree and one of the techniques was dripping hot glue on the branches. Can you believe I cannot remember the web site. I thought linked with her for new inspiration and for the life of me cannot find it. Most of the times I print out the image and website reference to give individuals their shout out and thank them for being such an inspiration... Just can't find it. So... I came up with what I could remember and caught my eye in the first place and designed this.

Steampunk Haunted Candles

I have see many friends and YouTubers creating dimensional wonders with Graphic 45, Pion, Prima Marketing, DCWV, BoBunny and the list goes on and on. I've come to realize I cannot buy EVERYTHING that comes out. Hey I'm feeling the notches in the belt and it's way too tight to get brand new. Many things you may see will be years and seasons ago and I'm okay with that. I must admit that I look around my craft room and have plenty that would last me till the day I die. I may go out for the necessary tools or replenishment but to have that "I gotta have the latest" days of impulse buys has diminished tremendously. Enough of that...

I like to recycle so I kept paper towel rolls and had a foam board I wasn't using and cut a circle created the base board overed with the DCWV Tattered Times. I used white light chipboard and covered it with foil tape (my fav tool in my work areas) ran them through my Big Shot using a varity of Tim Holtz embossing folders

I brushed some Jaguard paints and black gesso. Blasted heat to them and wiped them down with a baby wipe to reveal the faux grungy industrial metal effect. I arranged my rolls and hot glued them to the base.

Oh! The fun part is dripping the hot glue around the rim to give the illusion of melted wax.

I pulled out my dies and started cranking and punching. By the way cheese cloth has become close friend lately. It's a pretty diverse piece of material from the kitchen to the craft room. I also had the opportunity to use things I had not had the chance to play with . Bad Jessica (in third person voice) - I am totally kidding and I hope my sense of humor doesn't offend anyone. Call me a geek. lol.

I found some skulls and a mini coffin in my wonderland stash. I love Tim Holtz dies that has the little tricker treaters and rows of houses - Instead used a fun Fiskar's border punch that went on clearance 2 seasons ago. Works for me. Number washi tape from a dollar bind at Michael's

This will be my last project with Creative Paperclay® on October 17th. I've enjoyed every

moment sharing and creating with this awesome design team for two terms.

I've learned many fun techniques with Creative Paperclay® and know that

this will be an essential tool to have in my stash.

I am participating in Creative Paperclay® Halloween Link Up Party

and also crossing my fingers to continue my fun journey with this awesome design team.

and it has found its way to my heart

Once Upon at Time....

INGREDIENTS

Creative Paperclay®

Delight®

Background Props - Cricut Cartridge - Happy Hauntings and India

Paper Mache Ball (Apple)

Paper Mache Chest

Acrylic Paints - MS Mint, Glitz Red

Wilton - Heart candy mold

Lindys Stamp Gang Spray - Rhodoendron Red Rose

Ranger Adirondack color wash spray - Red Pepper

Apple

Took the paper mache ball and Creative Paperclay® and rolled for

balls for the bottom of the apple. Rolled out another sheet of Creative Paperclay® and wrapped around the ball and shaped it into an apple. Once completely dry I sanded it down smooth down

the roundness of an apple. I sprayed with adirondack color wash spray red pepper and sprayed LSG spray

Poison Goop

I took Delight® and added acrylic paint, Rolled out and lay right on top of apple to form the skull like impression

Chest

I rolled out more Creative Paperclay® and added dimension to the chest all around and on top

I also impressed an embossing folder

I painted red inside and out

Heart

I rolled Creative Paperclay® and place into a candy mold heart.

let dry and colored and spray same as apple

I also added some embellishments from my stash

I am pleased with the outcome. TOTAL FUN and will be placed in my case of goodies.

Welcome to

Almost fall y'all!

Although summer will always go first (love heat) it's never too soon for fall to come. Just that perfect weather that you don't need a jacket just something in the middle.

Wall decor is will always be my first choice so I created

Steampunk Fall Wreath

used light chipboard and applied foil tape on top

some chipboard I applied inks and some with paint

used embossing folders then used die plates

I cut the chipboard into several 1/2" strips and wrapped around the

sometimes your camera just can't pick up the colors or I just not good at taking pics lol

I feel more comfortable going to the pool

with all three of them

As many of us know we try out best to keep up

I created a summer fun pool key chain

to hook onto their large bag

I painted a wooden birdhouse that i bought last year on clearance.

Cute beach theme

Printed out a picture of my kiddos with a contact information

and used my Your Story Laminate machine

If I can alter something that people would discard you know

I would do it in a heart beat

in my last posting I created a steampunk dress form wall decor

for the International Fairy Day

I used the frame the wings came from

painted with Tim Holtz Distress paints and Distress Stains

used UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) and Heat Inks in the melting pot

placed the textured Gear textured Tread down

and placed my chipboard facing down on top of textured tread to get the imprint

to show on the other side

I added silver and white rub-n-buff on top of

texture to give it that pop

I used Labatt's Blue Canadian beer cans to cut out the flowers

I am happy with the results
