But it's not true. There's so many software that left "something" on the registry, or maybe on your system.

But we don't care about it. I'll tell you that it will give an impact for your computer future.

Maybe will slow down your PC, or make something error, or anything else.

I'll give you a little help here. I use a software to Uninstall those software. This software will try to clean all information related to the software which we will uninstall.

You can use Revo Uninstaller (free version). I already use this in all of my office's PC.

Download here

Hope you try this.
Fiuhhh ...

Now I want to share a unique software, which works to transform images into ASCII code. Maybe you do not know what ASCII was. ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. Can Computers only understand numbers, so an ASCII code is the numerical representation of a Standard and Poor 'character' a 'or' @ 'or an action of Some sort (asciitable.com).

This is the free software that i tell you about.

Free software is called ASCII Generator dotNET. ASCGen version currently available is 0.9.6 ASCGen. You can download it here

Here is the final appearance of the image "The-Ware" in form of ASCII. (click to view the original size).

The original

Hope you like it... :D

I would like to share other information. Surely, you have a problem with virus and its allies.
There are spyware, malware, and others. It must be a headache if your computer suddenly error, or become increasingly slow process.

I would like to share two tools that I use to help keep my computer lines. LOL
I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for free anti malware and SuperAntispyware for free anti spyware, both are the Free Version.
Both these software are always updated every day, so you need an update too, and do manual scan once a week or once a month.

Happy hunting :D

Google hacks... wow....

Google Hacks.. wow... what is that????

What does that mean? Hmmm, I do not intend to do hacking on Google.
But I wanted to share a tool that can help us in searching the files through Google's search engine.
Yes, free software is Google Hacks.

Google Hacks is a freeware that is made by an algorithm that
contain codes to maximize the Google search engine function, making it easier for us to search.
We can find document files, music, and so on.

Okay... Try this tool, because I'm sure it will be very useful.
But remember "Please do not use this program for illegal uses" (I quote from the Google Hacks maker).

Download here: http://code.google.com/p/googlehacks/

and enter keyword in the "Search String", and activate the menu functions that exist under the column "Type".

Freeware image processor, Photoshop alternative

Photoshop is an image processing software that is already popular among graphic designers. But do we should use Photoshop for image processing? Is there a freeware image processor that can be an alternative to Photoshop?

There is Windows, and there are Linux as the alternative, as well as GIMP which is the Photoshop alternative.
GIMP is a freeware version of Photoshop.

What is GIMP?

GIMP (GNU Image Manupulation Program) is a program similar to Adobe Photoshop and freeware, of course. In addition to free, GIMP also issued a portable version. So we can copy to a USB Flashdisk or on an external hard drive, then it can run on our friend PC or in the office PC without having to install.

GIMP has three main features that made his popularity rise, which is freeware, open source and multi-platform (available versions of Windows, Mac and Linux). Then equipped with diverse features, like plugins, filters, and brush that can be found on the Internet from supporters of the GIMP community.

You can download GIMP for Windows from

http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

Also the portable version

http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/gimp_portable

Later, i give some tips on how to use Photoshop plugin in GIMP.

Run Trial Software Forever ?

Lots of good software on the internet. But, what if the software is just a trial version?
And we want to use it in a long time. While we do not have money to buy it to get the full version.

My friend once asked me, why his HYSYS software can not work anymore, starting from this year. but it was an original software.
I tried to use the software, but it always give an error message. Then he said that this case occurred from the beginning of 2010.
For a moment I thought, it seems the software should be updated and he had to buy a new license, and will get the latest updated version.
But since he did not want the latest update, the I tried to change the date on the windows system tray. I rewind the time from the system tray, and the software can be used again.

In this article, I want to share about the function of a free software called RunAsDate.
RunAsDate is a small freeware utility that allows us to run a program in the date and time that we can specify. RunAsDate doesn't change the current system date and time of our computer.
RunAsDate only injects the date/time that we specify into the desired application.
We can run multiple applications simultaneously, with each application works with different date/time, while the real date/time of our system continues to run normally.

You can download it here : http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/run_as_date.html

Here's the preview:

1.Browse the application using the browse button.
2.Put the date that you want to specify (e.g: you want to use yesterday's date 14 Februari 2010, because it's the last trial date of the software).
3.Put the time that you want to specify
4.Klik on "Create desktop shortcut", so you can use it later from your desktop with just one click, no need to configure from RunAsDate.

So... You do not need to hesitate to use the trial software and can use it on a later date even though the trial was over. Yes, you can run trial software forever.

P.S:
- Not all the software trial period is determined by the date and time.
- Do not use trial software for a long time, buy it if you like it... :D
- Please use freeware, if you can't buy the shareware.

OpenOffice 3.2 has been released

Maybe there’s a lot of people who know the OpenOffice applications.
OpenOffice is an alternative application of Microsoft Office. OpenOfice itself is a useful open source applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and much more. OpenOffice application will store all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages, such as Microsoft Office.

Yesterday 11 February 2010, OpenOffice.org has released the latest version of OpenOffice 3.2.
Some improvement and perfection in this latest version as 3.2 startup faster, support more files, repair bugs, the new chart module, close the security hole in previous versions and others. To learn more you can visit http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/features/3.2/

I hope OpenOffice 3.2 will be better than the previous version (Of course... hehehe). So .doc file created in OpenOffice 3.2 will not fall apart when opened in Microsoft Office.

To download it please visit http://download.openoffice.org/
For Indonesian user you can try to visit Kambing server : http://kambing.ui.ac.id

So try now ...

Prevent Autorun Virus

How to prevent virus spreading using "Autorun" feature in Windows?

Virus... virus... and virus... there's so many virus in digital world... it's same as in the real word.
Okay let's start...
Sometimes we need to transfer files like software, document, or anything from flashdisk to PC, and vice versa. or maybe browsing the internet, and we didn't know that the sites contain a virus.
And we never know that the PC or flashdisk was infected by virus that can spread automatically using "Autorun" feature in Windows.
Of course, it happened, if we didn't install an antivirus.
You better lock your door, dude... hehehe..

So what is the door key, to prevent virus spreading using the "Autorun" feature?
1. Install an antivirus.
Of course, you know that, do you? Try this free antivirus, originated from Indonesia.

Smadav. They're already released Smadav 2010 Rev. 8.0. There's a feature to prevent flashdisk to make an "autorun.inf" files. So it will disable the virus spread using autorun feature.
You can download Smadav from http://smadav.net/

2. You can disable Autorun feature

a. Click Start – Run.
b. Write gpedit.msc and push OK.
c. Click User Configuration – Administrative Templates – System.
d. Click twice in Turn Off Autoplay.
e. Choose Enable option.
f. Choose All drives.
g. Click OK and done
Of course you need an Administrator access.

3. Made an autorun.inf file that cannot be 'deleted' or rewrite.
You can make this folder autorun.inf, con, aux,nul in your root folder in every drive.
Example, you want to prevent virus spreading to your flashdisk.
a.From Command Prompt, go to your flashdisk drive (e.g: F:\)
b.write this command : md autorun.inf\
c.Write this command : md autorun.inf\con (You can change con with aux or nul)
d.exit command prompt.
e.open your Windows explorer, and try to browse drive F:. Then try to delete autorun.inf. And "Error Deleting File or Folder" comes out.

AFAIK, Windows cannot have same file name in the same folder. So it prevents the flashdisk from any kind of "autorun.inf" virus spreading.

There's also another way to disable autorun feature, from regedit, or using a software like TweakUI.

Try it out if you like... :)

Pidgin, my favourite multi IM

Pidgin, my favourite multi IM
I've already try some linux distro (eg: Ubuntu, openSUSE, Back|track, Linux Mint, etc).

Okay, i tell you how to make it:
1. Prepare an empty USB flashdisk (formatted) which can fit the ISO live cd files.

2. Download the ISO Live CD files from any linux distro. If you like to use Ubuntu, then download the latest Ubuntu ISO here , or if you want to try the latest Back|track, you can find it here.

3. Download Unetbootin or you can use Win32DiskImager.

4. After finish downloading, now you can try to make an bootable USB:
a. If using Unetbootin:
- open unetbootin
- tick the diskimage radio button and browse the ISO files. in my case, i am using Linuxmint iso.

- choose your USB flashdisk drive. in my case, it was F drive

- Click OK and wait until it was finish. The you can choose to reboot if you want to try your Bootable usb linux OR not if you want to try it later.

b. If using Win32DiskImager
- Extract win32diskimager
- Run Win32diskimager.exe

- 1 -> browse the iso files here.
- 2 -> this is the usb drive
- 3 -> press Write button
- 4 -> this is the progress bar
- Wait until it finish, then you can try the bootable linux usb drive.

5. Don't forget to set your first booting to USB drive. You can set the boot drive from BIOS.

We know that Microsoft already launch Office 2007. But for some users, it was difficult to move from Office 2003 to Office 2007. I think it's because the GUI is different from the previous one, sometimes confusing for new users. Yesterday, my friend asks me why he can't open *.xlsx files using Office 2003. Then i tell him, that the file is for Office 2007. But if he want to open the files in Office 2003, then he has to download an installer file from Microsoft, to make it compatible to open in Office 2003. And also he can convert office 2007 files, to be able open to open in Office 2003.

Here's the tips:

1. Download here
2. Close all running program (especially Microsoft Office).
2. Install Fileformatconverters.exe
3. Just follow the instruction
4. After finish install, you can open Office 2003. And try to open Office 2007 files (eg: *.xlsx)
5. Done

Hope this helps everybody that have problem opening office 2007 files in microsoft office 2003.

cheers

Alternative browser

Hello everybody,

This is my first real post, and i want to share 2 (two) freeware browser in this digital world. And i also use this two browser.

1. Mozilla Firefox

The best browser in the world, for me.

Firefox is a web program that is very desirable since 10 February 2004 and almost everyone has used it, Firefox is also the fastest way, safest, and best to explore the virtual world.

Mozilla Firefox is a free, open source, cross-platform, graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation and hundreds of volunteers. The browser began as a fork of the Navigator component of Mozilla Application Suite; Firefox has since the foundation's main development focus (along with its Thunderbird mail and news client), and has replaced the Mozilla Suite as the official main software they release.

Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live bookmarking, download manager, and an integrated search system that uses a user wants search engine. Functions can be added through add-ons created by third-party developers, the most popular include NoScript utility disable JavaScript, Customizer Tab Mix Plus, FoxyTunes media player control toolbar, Adblock Plus ad blocking utility, StumbleUpon (website discovery), Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer (bookmark synchronization), DownThemAll! download enhancer and Web Developer toolbar.

Orca Browser is very fast and user friendly web browser, designed to add functionality to the latest version of Firefox. Not only does Orca Browser contains all the features, such as security, low memory usage, spell-checker, built-in download manager, etc. from a typical Gecko based browser, it also improves the speed, adds built-in features like an AD Blocker, Flash Blocker, Online Profile Storage, auto Form-Filler, and a Outlook-Style RSS Reader.
