Love Interruption

When you get to be about my age I guess that is something you think about a little more.  Instead of just watching movies and reading books I catch myself thinking about what it would be like to read or watch that with your child for the very first time.  The live action 2003 version of Peter Pan is streaming on Netflix right now and if you have never seen it I suggest you go give it a watch.  I was watching it a few weeks ago and that thought came to mind – what must it be like to see this as a child?  Pure magic.  We are so jaded as adults we do not always see the magic.  Peter Pan is just something that everyone knows by heart.  It is part of the vernacular.  But do remember, there was a time when we once did not know Peter.  Someone close to you had the privilege of sharing the story of Neverland, flying through the night sky, pixie dust, and pirates.  How spectacular the story must have seemed!

I feel that many parents probably introduce their children to Peter by absent mindedly popping in the Disney DVD and walking away to do chores thinking “that will keep them quite for awhile.”  What a disservice to these children!  But those parents are missing out even more.  Those parents are missing out on the best thing.  They are missing making a memory with their child.  They are missing seeing the look on their childrens faces as you read to them this adventure.

and now away from the story.  And on to some interior design! haha!  What a switchover huh?  I am very particular when it comes to decor and personal style.  One thing I am particular about is the thought of a nursery.  I LOATHE character nurseries.  If you like em good for you its just not my bag baby.  One room filled with everything Winnie the Pooh print bought from some store all together?  Bleh.  If you still insist on a theme there are more creative ways to go about other than buying matchy matchy wallpaper bedding rugs etc.  I know that ya’ll know what I am talking about.  I very much think about making a room that a child can grow into.  Not plastering the walls with a wallpaper that you will have to rip down when the kid is seven because “Winnie the Pooh is for Babies!”  Pick some colors and go with that and add features that are easily interchanged like wall art and pillows and little animals that go with what you want.  The only thing that has ever made me have the thought of having a theme nursery is – you may have guessed it – Peter Pan.  When I saw this on the blog Lay Baby lay – it really had me hooked!  Its still a theme – but done in a very me way.

I don’t know what it is about it.  I guess its probably a bunch of little things.

Seeing a Beatles song being “performed” in front of an audience?

Knowing that a lot of the footage was just of real Chicago citizens who showed up for the real parade that went through the streets just before this movie one came trailing behind it and really reacted in such a raucous way – singing and dancing along?  (why yes I am a commentary – making of biography-special features watching nerd)

Seeing so many different ages and cultures singing and dancing along to the same rock n roll song?  (I guess it also helps that it is The Beatles)

I have a recurring dream – of zombie apocalypse. I have this dream constantly! It is different every time – different place, different people, different reactions – but it is the same situation of a zombie apocalypse. I do not think this is a “symbolism dream” If you look up zombies in dreams you will find an explanation that if you are being attacked by zombies in your dreams it could symbolize that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. I do not feel like this is me! I think this is my brain feeling that I need to know what to do if there were ever to be a real life zombie apocalypse.

No, sitting here being sane I will tell you that I do not believe that dead bodies will just dig out of their graves and come to eat us. BUT, I do not find the premise of some sort of biological weapon seeping from some military base could do some major crazy damage (28 Days Later style). There I said it.  My brain knows I feel this way and is giving me plenty of zombie destroying practice.
