Now I live in Japan, and train in martial arts 4 hours a day. In this post I lay out the first critical step you must take to identify the reason you were placed on this earth.

Where do I go from here?

My life had hit a crossroads. It was October 2009.

I was in the middle of getting my Masters Degree in Education. Getting Ready to run my own school.

To the outside world my life looked perfect.

But alone, at night, by myself – I’d cry. Depression, anxiety, stress. Day after day.

Is this my life?

Is It Okay to Admit “I Don’t Know”?

Young, ambitious, and a train wreck… Not quite marriage material.

Inside, I was dying.

Something needed to change.

What am I going to do?

To Not Know Is The Beginning

I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. It was scary.

But there is something that scared me more.

What if I live the rest of my life… like this?

I felt insecure, unsure, full of doubt. But the alternative, a life of depression, was too painful.

26 years old with a bachelors degree in psychology, a teaching credential, 4 years of teaching in the inner city of Los Angeles, getting my Masters Degree and all I could show for it was:

I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

The Only Way to “Know” is to Admit “I Don’t Know”

We all are in danger of facing an elusion that we know what we want. In some cases you do in fact know. In other cases, it’s a lie. A Lie to give you some short term relief.

Unfortunately by trying to give ourselves short term relief we blow the chance for long term fulfillment.

Fulfillment is living your life’s purpose day in and day out.
Tweet this!

The only way to eventually know… is to start with “I don’t know”.

The Beautiful Process of Discovering Your Life’s Purpose

Now, that I have left you depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed with the ambiguity of your life I’ll continue .

Discovering your life’s purpose isn’ easy. It takes time, persistence, commitment, and a willingness to look at the truth.

But here is the good news: The process to discovering your life’s purpose is the beginning of fulfillment.

Initially when I began to explore the options for my life I had no idea where to start. I was left with a few thoughts:

I hate my job.

I hate my life.

I like to travel.

I like martial arts.

I like people.

…

And that about sums up all I knew.

I explored these options. I started training more intensely in Aikido. I began to ask myself: “How can I combine these things?”

I started with a vague ambiguous idea: I like martial arts, I like to travel, I like people. And then I just ran with it.

Over the course of 3 years my life has changed in a manner I never knew possible.

I live in Kyoto, the historical capital of Japan.
I train extensively in martial arts 4 to 6 hours a day.
I run a business to help you follow your dreams.

Most importantly, I feel excited and thrilled about life.

Discovering your purpose does not happen while sitting on a couch in between commercials.
Tweet this!

You must take action, and continue to move forward, at all costs. As you take action towards your purpose (no matter how vague it is in the beginning) the more clear it becomes.

4 Steps to Moving Forward With Your Purpose When You Don’t Know What To Do With Your Life

Below are the exact steps I used over the last 3 1/2 years to follow my dream. Now, the benefit for you is that I had no idea I was doing this, so it took me 3 1/2 years. In your case you can do it faster because you can be intentional by following these steps.

Step 1: Start with a Vague and Ambiguous Vision

Whatever you currently have in your mind as your life’s purpose, just run with it. Don’t fight it. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

Nothing is an action, it’s the most dangerous and deceptive action in this world. It allows you to feel safe, to put off dreams, purpose, and vision.

Doing Nothing, is not waiting, it’s killing your dream.
Tweet this!

Whatever you have move forward with it. Look at my life. 3 1/2 years ago all I had was:

1. I like martial arts
2. I like traveling
3. I like people.

How the heck can that turn into anything?

My life is the evidence. I took what I had and moved forward.

Write down your purpose. No matter how vague it is. If you’re not going to take the time to write this down (after I have explicitly stated it’s very important) there is no chance you will take action on your dream… just a thought.

Step 2: Identify The First Step Towards Your Vague and Ambiguous idea

Now, look at your vague and ambiguous idea. Now answer this question:

What is the first step you can take to explore this more?

Now, this might feel difficult and even pointless. Let’s look at my situation. When I looked at my list from oh so long ago

1. I like martial arts
2. I like to travel
3. I like people.

My response went like this “I don’t know… I guess I could train in Aikido more.” I was already doing a little bit of training in Aikido. All I decided to do was more..

As I trained more, I discovered that I loved it. I started to explore ways to take my training to a new level.

I had a crazy idea – what if I moved to Japan to study Aikido? (Aikido came fro Japan). What if I try to become a ninja?

Step 3: Combine New Experiences with Deep Reflection

There is a phrase that does an incredible disservice to the world.

Experience is the greatest teacher. This is a lie.

Experience is not the greatest teacher. Experience Reflected on, is the greatest teacher.
Tweet this!

Often we run into the problem of moving so fast that we don’t take any time to think about what is happening in our life.

As I moved forward with my vague ambiguous idea I set time aside each week to reflect on my life.

What did I do last week that I enjoyed?
Why?
What did I dislike?
Why?
What should I do more of?
Why?
What are my dreams?
Why?

Do you notice a pattern? ‘Why’ is a powerful ignitor of change. We must dare to ask ‘why’ and even more importantly answer it.

Questions ignite reflection. Reflection gives insight. Insight leads to new actions. New actions lead to a new life.

Step 4: Make Adjustments to Your Life

Now, based on what you learn from your reflections make adjustments to your life.

If you keep doing the same thing… Your life will be the same.

Therefore if you want your life to change, then you must change your behavior. But the only way to know how to change your behavior is to take the time to reflect on your previous experiences (step 3).

Then once you decide to make adjustments, then go back to step 2 and keep doing the process over and over again.

Yes, It’s This Simple

If you look at this process it’s very simple.

1. Start with an idea
2. Take action
3. Reflect
4. Adjust your actions based on your reflections.

It’s simple, but not easy. This isn’t college or med school. There are no defined timelines to figuring out your life’s purpose. But there is one thing I am sure of: If you don’t take the initiative to make it happen… It will never happen.

It’s your choice.

For The Discussion

Can you live a fulfilling, meaningful life without living your life’s purpose?

It's a complete misunderstanding of what is discipline and where it comes from. In this post, I explain 1) where discipline comes from and 2) how you can begin to develop real discipline. I hope you love it so much you kiss your computer screen

It’s a choice. An Active Decision. One I make Everyday.

5 hours a day, 25 hours a week, 1000 hours a year, I train.

My knees ache, my shoulders burn, I still can’t move my big toe.

Blood. Sweat. Pain.

But there is another aspect. Something that drives me. Deep within my soul.

I feel joy, purpose, passion. I love the challenge, the struggle, the battle.

It feeds my heart, it gives me meaning. When I train I feel alive. I know my life matters. I stop worrying about the world, what others might think. I just am.

What is this feeling?

Where does it come from?

Where does Discipline Come From?

It’s impossible to have a massive impact on this world without discipline. You might say “I don’t want to have a massive impact.” You might not realize it but with these words also comes another statement “I don’t want to follow my dream.”

If you follow and live your dream – you will have a massive impact. Massive doesn’t have to mean millions. Massive is qualitative not quantatitive. It’s not a number. It’s a deep soulful, heart felt connection. But I’m getting away from my point…

If discipline is so important where does it come from?

Discipline isn’t Your Problem…

I need to be more disciplined.

I’m just lazy.

I can’t get myself to do it.

These are common statements. We hear them everyday. But to hear and to learn are two different things. We need to flip the statement and turn them into questions.

Why do you need to be more disciplined?

Why are you lazy?

Why can’t you get yourself to do it?

Discipline is a consequence

There is a common misunderstanding about discipline. Discipline isn’t the all magical answer. You don’t need to be “more disciplined”. Well, actually, maybe you do. The problem is that it’s not going to just happen. Discipline is a consequence of something. Which brings us to a question:

What causes discipline?

If you go to the doctor and he says:

“You need to eat an apple a day.”

Then you might do it, or you might not.

But if you go to the doctor and he says:

“You are going to die if you don’t eat an apply a day.”

(Yes, you are choosing to read a blog by a dude who gives examples that aren’t realistic)

You will eat that apple! Why will you eat that apple? Because you have established a strong purpose for eating the apple.

Discipline is a consequence of a strong purpose.
Tweet this!

The Simple Process to Develop Insane Discipline

Below I share a simple process to help you align your “purpose” with your daily discipline. This is simple but not easy.

Below is a 5 step process that you can start to execute immediately to begin changing your life. I hope you love it so much that you do inappropriate things to the computer screen (not really… but kind of)

Step 1: Write Down Your Goal

This is simple. Take out a piece of paper and write down your goal. A few simple things:

Start it with “I”

Use a verb.

Write it in present tense

Make it as clear as possible.

Here are some examples:
I lose 26 pounds by July 5, 2013
I run a marathon by December 14, 2013

Don’t make this step difficult. You’re not rebuilding the Roman Empire here. Just write it down.

Step 2: Create the 2 Purpose Mind Maps (Insanely Powerful)

This is where it gets powerful. On a separate sheet of paper, write out a mind map like the one below.

In the middle circle write the sentence:

What impact will this goal have on my life?

Then go crazy! Write down every possible positive impact this goal will have on your life if you achieve it. Go nuts.

Next you are going to create a second mind map just like the one below:

In the middle of this mind map you are going to write: What impact will it have on my life if I never achieve this goal?

Once again, go nuts!

Do you see what we have done here? We have developed a deep purpose for your goal. You now understand 1) the positve impact if you achieve the goal as well as 2) the negative impact if you don’t achieve the goal.

Step 3: Identify the first step

This is when you are going to start to rev up those discipline muscles. Look at your goal and answer this question:

What is the first step I can take today?

Don’t worry about step 2, step 3, or step 98. Just focus on identifying step 1. The biggest danger you can run into is “perfectionism paralysis”. This is where you choose to do nothing because you are afraid that there is a better first step. Just step back, take a breath and say this out loud:

“As it stands now, this is the best I got. So I’m going with it.”

A final note: if you don’t know your first step, you aren’t getting off easy! Your first step is: Identify my first step.

Step 4: Take Action

Now is when you beging to workout those discipline muscles. Take a look at that first step and immediately take action on it. Just do it.

Step 5: Follow Through On Your Promise Daily

Now, this is very important to understand. In the first 4 steps you have created a promise to yourself. You have made a commitment.

How does it feel when you break a promise to a friend or loved one?

It feels horrible! By going through this process you have made a promise to yourself to take action. So, if you do it you will feel wonderful. You will feel good about yourself, and consequentially good about your life.

if you don’t do it, then you will feel bad about yourself, and consequentially bad about your life.

I don’t make the rules… I just share them .

For The Discussion

Must Purpose always come before discipline?

Can you please correct their spelling?

120 papers drop on my desk before I can respond

February 2012. Here I was. In the countryside of Japan. Stuck in a job that made me want to rip my eyes out.

I have a masters degree in Education. I’m qualified to run my own school in America. and here I am correcting the word “becaz” for the 50th time…

Dreams don’t always turn out as we initially hoped.

Who Defines Impossible?

There are major misconceptions about the pursuit of a dream.

This isn’t easy. It never has been easy. I’ve made mistake after mistake.

I moved to Japan in August of 2011 with the ridiculous perception that “if I just move to Japan my dream will magically happen.”

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

All The Reasons My Dream Will Die

I was placed in the countryside. There were a lot of rice fields. There were zero martial arts dojos.

My job was a straight up joke. It consisted of repeating words out of a textbook, correcting misspelled words, and sitting at my desk.

I was 28 years old. I quit my career in America. I moved to Japan to become a ninja and I couldn’t have been farther from it.

I could have given up. Nobody would have thought twice about it.

But this isn’t about what others will say. It’s about my life. It’s about purpose and meaning. It’s about living my dream.

This is where the difference lies. The difference is that I keep pushing. I allow nothing to stop me.

If you don’t pursue your dream, you’re giving up on your life.
Tweet this!

The Sad Yet Empowering Truth: You’re The Problem

How did this happen?

Why am I here?

What is going on?

Questions I struggled with as I sat alone in my apartment in this foreign land of Japan.

I wish I could leave this job.

I wish they placed me at a better school.

It would have been great if there were martial arts dojos in this town.

Excuses. Lies. Deception.

Here’s the truth. It was my fault.

If you want your life to change, you need to change it.

If you want to live your dream, to live a life with purpose and meaning only you can do it.

You are the problem… Which also means, you are the solution.
Tweet this!

13 Mistakes That Will Destroy Your Life

One of the major killers of dreams isn’t that we need to start doing something, it’s that we need to stop doing something.

I share each of these mistakes below. I know the truth behind each of these – because I’ve made all of them. Tears, blood, and sweat have been my teacher.

1. Blaming The Government, Your Upbringing, Life Events, or Anything That Takes The Blame off of You

Of all the mistakes on this list, this is by far the most debilitating.

If you won’t take responsibility for your life, you cannot fix it.

You are the reason. Life is hard, that’s a reality. But here’s the flipside – it’s hard for everyone. If you want to live a meaningful life you must take 100 percent ownership for your life.

2. Avoiding Failure

Failure is imperative to success.

I chose a career out of college that left me depressed, anxious and overwhelmed.
I spent over $20,000 on a degree I’ll never use.
My first job in Japan had me repeating English words out of a textbook.
I destroyed an opportunity for an all expense paid trip to India because I forgot about the visa.

But with each of these opportunities has come incredible learning. Failure is part of the journey.

If you aren’t failing, you aren’t taking big enough risks.
Tweet this!

3. Focusing on Solely The Outcome

It’s easy to get caught up with “Achieving the dream” but there’s an inherent danger. When a dream is far off, it can feel overwhelming and exhausting.

When I look back on my dream, the process has been the joy. The journey along has given me countless unforgettable experiences. It’s cliche but it’s true. It’s the journey that brings the joy, not the outcome.

4. Claiming Your Perfectionism is a Strength

Some people wear perfectionism like a badge. Perfectionism isn’t a badge.

Perfection is a lame attempt to turn cowardice into dignity.
Tweet this!

Perfection doesn’t exist. If you “aren’t ready” do it anyways.

I wasn’t ready to move to Japan.
I wasn’t ready to quit my career in Education.
I wasn’t ready to start training in martial arts 6 hours a day.
I wan’t ready to start this blog.

I did it anyways. You can too.

5. Waiting for The Right Time

The “right time” does not exist. The best moment to begin is now. Claiming you’ll do it next year is a lie. We both know it.

6. Thinking You Know What You Need to Do

You want to know what’s stupid – claiming you know how to do something you haven’t yet done.

Here’s a thought – how about you admit you don’t know how to do it, then get help from someone who has done it.

7. Believing You Will Do it Tomorrow

If you perpetually claim “I will do it tomorrow” you will never do it.

Tomorrow has become the equivalent of a life numbing drug. It allows us to lie to ourselves.

8. You Are Impatient

Dreams take time. You are not going to achieve your dream in a week a month, or probably even a year.

You must be willing to put in the work today that aligns with your long term vision for your life. Don’t worry about how long it will take. All that matters is that you take one step forward everyday.

9. Trying to Find All The Answers for Free

Free is dangerous. Yes, there is an abundance of information out there that won’t cost you a dollar. But here is the problem with free – you are not invested in the program.

Here’s the other reality – it’s worth it! Spending money on personal development is an investment in your life.

I have invested over $5,000 in my personal development in the past year. I read books, listen to audio programs, and take online courses.

And don’t give me the “I don’t have money excuse”! I’ll straight up kick you. Not in the face, that would be mean. Probably in the shin.

I used socks for gloves all of winter because I opted to spend the $20 on a book instead. My personal development comes first. I invest in my success.

You get what you pay for.

10. Trusting Yourself Too Much

Some people claim “I already know how to do it, I just need to do it.” I don’t believe you. Arrogance is a massive destroyer of dreams.

I always live with the belief that:

if you aren’t doing it, you don’t know how to do it.
Tweet this!

The danger of thinking you know how to do something that you don’t know how to do is that you block out the information you need.

11. Trusting Yourself Too Little.

Another major mistake is not trusting your own judgement. This is the opposite of the previous mistake. This is when you try to do everything the experts say but never have your own opinion.

You need to learn from others but also trust your gut. It’s a balance.

12. Using the “Big Dream” as an Excuse to Wait

Some people claim they want to end starvation, find a cure to cancer, and ignite world peace… But they treat their friends like crap and haven’t been to a gym in 5 years.

It’s easy to talk about massive huge dreams because nobody will give you a hard time for not trying.

A teeny, tiny dream acted upon is a bazillion times more admirable then a massive dream never acted upon.

13. Claiming “It Will Take Years” So You do Nothing

The excuse “but it will take xx amount of years” to achieve a dream is by far one of the most baffling to me. It’s as if the person believes that they will never age.

If it will take 10 years who gives a darn! Isn’t it better to achieve your dream in 10 years… Then not to achieve it at all?

The choice is made. The papers turned in. One week is under my belt.

My knees are a train wreck. My back feels like it was pounded by a bat. My face grimaces as I put socks over my toes. My elbows are bleeding.

…and my heart is soaring.

Not long ago I thought this was impossible. I guess I was wrong… I’m now living the impossible.

Is The Impossible Possible?

3 years ago I told myself:

I want to live in a foreign country and train in martial arts until my body aches… but that’s not possible

2 weeks ago I turned the papers in.

The next 11 months, Monday thru Friday, 730am until 2 pm I train.

But hours provide a false perception. My life, my every move, my every decision is part of my training.

Every technique, every minute, is about getting better.

“You must always give 100 percent… Or there is no Point.” -Sensei

It’s not about hours in the dojo.

Kindness: I’m on the train. She’s old. I give her my seat.

Purpose: My body aches. Sweat is dripping. This is when the other 99 percent quit… I’m the 1 percent.

Discipline: It’s early, I want to sleep. It doesn’t matter. I wake up. 5 am. I’ll sleep when I’m dead.

Excellence: Excuses are a formula for mediocrity.

It’s intense. I’m intense.

You don’t have to do it… You can settle.

If I can’t give 100 percent, it’s not worth doing.

What will you do with your one life?

My Life is Your Evidence

3 years ago I told myself:

“I want to move to a foreign country and train in martial arts until my body aches.”

I’m now doing it. I’ve made the commitment.

But this is only the beginning.

Everyday is an opportunity to grow, to evolve, to learn, to expand.

This whole journey started 3 years ago when I dared to step forward with the impossible. I had it, I was sick of my life, sick of the excuses. Rather than excepting the excuse “it’s not possible.” I decided to find out on my own.

I am now doing what I set forth to do. But do not misunderstand me.

What’s the end game?

There is none… I’m going until I die. You don’t understand. This isn’t about some goal, some achievement, some measure…

It’s about becoming a better person.

Tweet this!

Discipline, focus, commitment.

Heart, soul, gratitude.

How To Make The Impossible Possible

Below is 6 step process to begin living your impossible life.

Reading this is good, but words read without action mean nothing. Read it, take what works, and start living the impossible.

Step 1: Imagine “Your Impossible”

Three years ago, in the midst of massive anxiety, stress, burnout, and overwhelm I began to imagine the impossible. Rather than focusing on “but I can’t” I shifted my language to “what if I can…”

The most important thing above all else is that you must identify what your impossible thing is. Mine is becoming a ninja. Yours… only you can decide that.

This step is about brainstorming. Just let yourself feel free. Dream big dreams. Imagine you could do and have anything you want in the world. What would it be? What is your impossible life? Write it down.

Step 2: Write Down You’re “Impossible Dream”

3 years ago I decided a ninja is 3 things:

Moves to a far away land

Trains extensively in martial arts

Lives life by his own set of rules

Now that you have written out an “impossible life”. Choose the item that will have the biggest impact on your life.

Is it losing weight?
Starting a business?
Running a marathon?

What it is doesn’t matter. All that matters is that it’s your dream.

It is critical that you write this down. Don’t leave it in your head. By writing it down, it becomes concrete and tangible. Writing this down is smart… Which means not writing it down is stupid. Yes, I just said that – and no I’m not sorry.

Step 3: Identify The First Step of The Impossible

Start with step 1. Don’t worry about step 8, step 30 or step 75. Just focus on the first step.

Ask yourself this question:
What is the first step to move towards my impossible life?

If you don’t know the answer then your first step is “Discover my first step.”

If you say “I don’t know” and allow that to stop you then you will live a mediocre life.
Tweet this!

You must be willing to explore this question. To sit with this question, and to eventually answer this question.

Step 4: Take The First Step

After you identify the first step, then you must take action. There are no easy ways to make big things happen. You must do the work day in and day out.

It might take years… So what. Time will pass, it’s better to live your dream in 10 years than never to live it.

Step 5: Learn Everyday, Every Moment, Every Experience

Everyday is an amazing opportunity to grow and develop. But only if we are willing to embrace each experience with humility and a relentless focus on personal improvement.

I read a book a week. I listen to educational audio programs 60 minutes daily. I apply what I learn to my life daily.

Your personal growth must be intentional.

If you aren’t growing, you’re wasting time.
Tweet this!

Step 6: Become Unstoppable

I am unstoppable. It’s a bold statement to make, but it’s true. I will allow nothing to stop me.

I put this as step 6 but really it can come at anytime.

This is a mindset above all else. By definition a person who refuses to quit is unstoppable.

As you move forward with your dream you must fully commit. You cannot half-heartedly attempt to achieve big things. It’s not the way the world works.

“If you don’t like it, then go create your own universe.” -Jim Rohn

The Final Word – The Act of Faith

At some point in time, you must be willing to make a leap of faith. There is no such thing as a perfect time.
Today is your opportunity – you either do it, or you don’t.

What will you do?

Screaming deep down, inside of you, in your heart, your soul... is a voice. This voice, though difficult to understand at first, knows exactly what you want to do with your life. Are you listening to it? You either listen to it or you let it die... In this post I discuss this voice.

I didn’t know what to say, what to think, what to feel. I couldn’t grasp my reality. These emotions, feelings, doubts, insecurities… What are they?

Nothing filled the void. Where do I even start?

Looking back on that moment, I reflect sympathetically. The answer is simple, but the act of it, so difficult.

Izzy, Just listen.

In the midst of my struggle, depression, anxiety, and fear there was a voice deep down, screaming, dying, hoping…

please hear me.

This voice, what I now believe to be my heart, knew what I needed to do.

I want to move to a foreign country and give my life to martial arts. I want to become a ninja.

a few seconds later the radio, the traffic, my life, took my attention. Another thought, forever to be forgotten… Or so I thought.

October 2009

As I sat on my bed, in the evening, overwhelmed, I felt so lost.

I kept coming back to this idea, this concept, this dream… But that’s not possible.

I want to move to a foreign country and give my life to martial arts. I want to become a ninja.

What if the impossible is possible?

26 years old, a fancy resume, a masters degree in education, salary rising, moving up the ladder… And completely lost. I had followed the instruction manual to “Live The American Dream” step by step, word for word.

One problem – The American dream isn’t my dream.

What did I do wrong?

Why isn’t this working?

Why do I feel like this?

Are You Listening to Your Heart?

Now, those ideas don’t seem so crazy. But that’s 3 years after the fact. Back then, how could I have known?

Here’s the simple answer: I couldn’t have known.

This is how a dream works… You take it page by page, step by step. You can make predictions, but the story will unfold, as the story unfolds. This is life, there is no skipping ahead to the last page.

Sometimes people ask me:

Why do you want to be a ninja?

I smile, but inside I shake my head. You don’t get it… I didn’t choose this dream, it chose me.

I grew up in Redwood Valley, California, a town so small there are no stoplights, and the teachers are like local celebrities.

Every morning my mother drove 2 miles down the dirt road to get the mail. I spent my childhood climbing trees, playing with my dog, and falling for girls that I was too shy to talk to. I played video games, loved Lasagna, and was never able to speak Spanish fluently (after 5 years of studying!)… I don’t know where this dream came from. It just is.

My dream, your dream, these are planted in our heart.

If it was up to me, my dream would be simple, it would be easy. I would be a teacher, buy a nice little home, live in the same town I grew up, right down the road from my parents. But instead I want to be a ninja.

It just is.

Is Your Dream, Your Dream?

A Dream doesn’t have to make sense. It doesn’t need to fit in some perfect little box. But it does need to be your dream.

But what if your dream is to become a professional basketball player, your 50 years old, 5 feet tall and…

How about you shut up and stop asking stupid questions.

Is that your dream? Are you 50 years old? Are you only 5 feet tall?

Stop creating theoretical excuses. You’re using false assumptions to hide the truth… That you’re afraid.

Guess what, it’s okay to be afraid. We’re all afraid. The difference is not an absence of fear. The difference is the willingness to move forward in the face of fear.

There is something magical about dreams. Your dream is possible… That’s why it’s your dream. You didn’t choose it, it chose you.

My 2 cents, I think God has put this on my heart. My dream, is my path to Him. Your dream is your path to Him. Just my opinion, not preaching.

“because the one thing I know for sure was that if you want to make God laugh, tell her your plans. -Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

The Next Step to Become a Ninja

Three years ago a crazy idea came to the surface. An idea, that I believe was placed in my heart at birth.

I want to move to a foreign country and give my life to martial arts. I want to become a ninja.

Today, I turned in the paperwork…

The next year of my life, I’m giving to Aikido. It’s called “Kenshusei”. I’ll be training 5 days a week 4 hours a day. My body and mind, I don’t know how it will respond.

But that’s not for me to know, just yet. What matters is that I’m following my dream with all my heart. I’m putting my faith and trust in God. I’m putting my faith and trust in the dream.

My heart is overtaking the conversation.

He’s leading my way, my path, my journey… I do not where it will take me. I am not worried where it will take me. All that matters is I am honoring the reason I was put on this earth.

So… What do you want do with your life?
