In 1978 Pav’s was bought from original owner Bob Pavlik (Hence Pav’s) and it has stayed remained a family business ever since. Current Owner Michelle Micochero continues to use the original recipes that keep their customers coming back time and time again. She states, “It is so important that a customer can come to Pav’s and know that the kustard they are tasting has tasted the same for the last 40 years.”
 
Customers continue to rave about the tasty flavors, especially the old fashion kustard. Michelle explains, “we spell it with a ‘K’ because it is custard without the egg.” Kustard fans certainly don’t miss the egg as since they continue to love their product. Pav’s always serves chocolate, vanilla, and chocolate almond kustard along with a specialty flavor of the week. Black Raspberry, Pumpkin, New York Cheesecake, and Banana are just a few of the customer favorites. Michelle says she is partial to the Butter Pecan Kustard herself. Yum!
 
Year after year, it’s the customers that continue to make Michelle’s job enjoyable. Because of their loyal fans, they plan on making some big changes in the upcoming years, including serving up more customers’ favorite flavors all summer long. Home of The Original White Pizza

Nearly 18 years ago, Akron was introduced to DeCheco’s Original White Pizza and the hype hasn’t died off since. The beauty parlor turned pizza shop is home to “mom’s” recipes, loyal customers and a family’s life long dream of making pizza.

Jack and Shirley DeCheco opened DeCheco’s barbershop and an adjoining beauty parlor in 1978. After a broken leg left Shirley unable to work in the salon, Jack took a risk and opened up the pizza shop he always wanted. The barbershop moved to the beauty parlor side and the vacant parlor became the Akron staple known as DeCheco’s Pizzeria.

Taking part in the new venture, mom created all the recipes that are still used today. The famous “White Pizza” was the brainchild of Shirley, as she tried many recipes to get that winning combination. The area locals were intrigued by this new idea in pizza and kept spreading the word of the Original White Pizza. Covered in a creamy garlic sauce and topped with fresh tomatoes, banana peppers, black olives and herbs it’s clear to see why this pizza brings in half of DeCheco’s business still today.

Their menu also showcases other favorite specialty pizzas including their Baked Potato Pizza and BLT Pizza. New to their menu is your choice of the Spicy or Sweet BBQ Chicken Pizzas- Yum! The third annual Cleveland Beer Week takes place from October 14-22, 2011. A nine-day celebration of craft brews, Cleveland Beer Week features hundreds of tasting, activities, dinners, and educational programs at more than 125 venues throughout Northeast Ohio. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the world of craft beer at Cleveland Beer Week.

The week culminates with BREWzilla, a monster of a beer tasting, on Saturday, Oct. 22. This ticketed event has a general admission ticket price of $50. Tickets giving you special access to the Brewer’s Circle, are $75.

BREWzilla will feature more than 70 breweries, a special “Ohio Brewery” area with various beers from local breweries, and appetizers that pair well with craft brews. General Admission tickets include 25 tasting tickets, a 3 oz. tasting glass, and complimentary appetizers courtesy of Winking Lizard. All proceeds benefit Malone Scholarship Fund.

Skyway Drive-In menu now features gourmet burgers

Skyway has been in business since 1952 when the Large family founded the first Skyway Drive-In on Route 18 in Fairlawn. The curbside service developed in the 50?s is still an important part of customer service today. Simply pull in, turn on your headlights and one of Skyway’s fast and friendly curb staff will hustle over to take your order. No windows. No waiting. You’re always first in line at any of Skyway’s locations in Fairlawn, Green or Medina.

Bite into a gourmet burger!
Another important part of Skyway’s customer service is paying attention to what customers want. Gourmet burgers, for example, came about because owner Steve Large listened to customers and wanted to start something new, said Mike Buzzi, consultant for Skyway. As a result, the Skyway menu now features five mouth-watering, gourmet burgers:

•  Brady’s Mushroom Burger: a half-pound burger topped with grilled mushrooms and onions. This burger is big enough to fill the likes of the Cleveland Browns quarterback of the same name, but it’s named instead for Steve Large’s 9-year-old son Brady.

• The Ultimate Burger: a stack of three quarter-pound burgers topped with the works: bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and Skyway’s special sauce. “I don’t know how customers eat it,” said Buzzi, marveling at the women and seniors who order – and finish eating – Skyway’s largest burger. “It’s just so big,” said Buzzi, “that’s why we call it what we do.”

•  Aunt Ruth’s Onion Burger: a half-pound burger topped with cheese, lettuce, special sauce and Aunt Ruth’s onion rings. Aunt Ruth Schaaf, real aunt to owner Steve Large, co-founded the restaurants and created the recipe for the onion rings – a special mixture of seasoning that gives the onion rings a little more tangy taste than the usual recipes. Thanks to Aunt Ruth, Skyway Drive-In restaurants are known for onion rings, said Buzzi.

•  The Sky Scraper Burger: Two quarter-pound burger patties in a double-decker bun reach dizzying heights topped with Skyway’s special sauce, lettuce, cheese and pickles. “It’s a sandwich we’ve had for years,” Buzzi said, and well worthy of gourmet burger status.

• Panini Burger: A half-pound all-American burger goes avant-garde topped with coleslaw, french fries and cheese. “A good friend of ours, Tom Dannemiller always liked panini sandwiches,” said Buzzi, who adapted the idea for Skyway’s gourmet burger menu.

The new burgers are selling well, and reorders are through the roof, said Buzzi. “We’ve been surprised at how they have taken off.”

All gourmet burgers are priced under $5 with the exception of the Ultimate Burger at $5.45.
