SXSW is one of the wildest, most exhilarating, tiring events you can ever experience. Let's say the average person see's about maybe 10-15 events a year (that's being very generous), well during SXSW thats only one evening. The entire musical industry is crashing 6th st this week, and as always your boys Crew54 & The 54 Reality Show will be out doing the most. For now, we're only going to focus on when and where ya boys will be hitting the mic, so if you're out and about this week come on down and rock with us.

This will be a first for us, as we'll be performing at the halftime show of the Verse One Federation vs. Austin Rhythm event. Verse One has show us plenty of love, and even made our show Champion their official theme song. If you like hoops and good hip-hop mos def check it out. Plus you have a chance to donate to a great cause as their raising money for the Garcia Middle School basketball team.

Crook's Castle is brought to you by the Crooks and Castle line, Keep It Local, Redbull and more. The homie Bavu Blakes will be having a listening party and we were invited out to perform a few tracks.

Our official showcase performance will be Thursday as well at 9pm at Malaia, performing along the likes of Phranchyze, The Chicharones, and many more. Peep the schedule below:

SXSW is literally two days away, well the music portion, and Artist all across the nation are getting prepped for the week long industry style summer camp that will invade the downtown area like all kinds of transmitted diseases. Two of Austin's strongest acts Phranchyze & Kydd are here with new videos to give you a taste of what they got coming up.

Now I've been watching Kung Fu joints all weekend on Netflix, so I was pleasantly surprised when I clicked play on this video from Joe Phrantana shot in classic Shaw brothers style. There is even some off sync mouthing in the end. If they were to make a 2012 version of "Enter The Dragon" Phran could pull off Jim Kelly with ease.

I struggle to find the eloquent words to thoughtfully express how I feel about what took place Saturday February 18th, at Flamingo Cantina in Austin, Texas. There was a cold bite in the air, the streets finally starting to clear up from two days of storms, and the cops were on horses to prepare for Austins possible Mardi Gras madness. Ironically, all the real energy that should have been out on the streets was inside of Flamingo Cantina. Ok, whatever that was, forget that foolishness. It was a fun night, thanks to the people who did come and to the people who didn't come, welp______. For those that couldn't be there here are a few recaps done by the homie Gargameljermel of Hotbox254. Check em out.

G-Christ is back in the states and the 54 Reality Show is 100% back in effect for the new year. To go forward though, we got to go back a bit and reflect on 2011. It was an interesting year full of highs and lows filled with great music and awesome performances. We can't look back for too long though, so we jump 2012 off the right way with a high energy performance from OPMG'z and the LOEG'z.

I gotta say, every now and then you get a great weekend full of local music and this weekend was one of them. First off, I stopped to check the newest edition of the Powerhouse TV Cipher with some of Austin's best getting it in. Then Sunday Riders Against The Storm and DJ Chorizo Funk put down one amazing MLK Birthday celebration with performances from Da'Shade Moonbeam and Bavu Blakes. Gargameljermel from the Hotbox254.com was in the building and caught the footage above which is just a taste of how dope an evening it was.

Everyday I get emails for people submitting their music and videos to be posted to this blog. It's standard practice for music blogs, I should know I submit our stuff to blogs often. I won't lie, I don't check new stuff as often as I should, but every now and then I check and link and really enjoy what I stumble upon. Today I got an email from GOODMAN telling me about his "Creative Persuasion" LP with 50 instrumentals (that he's looking to fill with MC's so if you rap you might want to check it out,) and some dope artistic videos that you should check out for the art alone.

In any stage of life when you meet hardworking people with like minded interests and full supply of dope work then you should count it as a blessing. Cientifiq (the beast behind the boards on our Slap Rapz album) is working on an upcoming project with Austin producer A Better Tomorrow. "Steel" is the first visual offering from this album, and it embodies their sound: raw and hard hitting. I had the fortune to work on this with "Hype Melz" from Hotbox254 Productions and in the end we hit yall with the video for "Steel."

He's dropping tracks for a variety of artist, working on the "Men Of A Certain Age" project with his Organized Rebel's partner Virt, and working on new bangers for the second edition of Slap Rapz. All the while, he's teamed up with A Better Tomorrow working on a E.P. that is just full of raw hip-hop. I'm talking that Guru/Preemo ish. Shortly before G-Christ left to go overseas for 6 months, we decided to do an EP with a producer we've been wanting to work with for a while.
