BreathalEyes: an iPhone breathalyzer

For far too long, there has been one type of app missing from Apple's "There's an App for that" arsenal. Sure, there are literally millions of apps, that add a wide variety of features to your iPhone. But there has never been an app which gives your iPhone the functionality of a breathalyzer... until now.

Enter BreathalEyes, which was released in the App Store on Monday (11/21/11). In the following video, you'll see BreathalEyes in action. It's used to take a series of images of a drunk subject's eyeball. Then gives an approximate Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) reading. (In this case, .11%) Next, an actual breathalyzer is used on the same subject & determines his BAC to be .109%. Have a look, it's pretty incredible...

Needless to say, this is a pretty amazing app for anybody that drinks. But the best part is the price, $0.99. For only a buck, it would seem almost criminal to not have BreathalEyes on your phone when you go out for a night of drinking. Not only would it help you make safe decisions but it also seems like it would be pretty damn impressive to whip out in the middle of a crowded bar and start scanning your buddy's eye. We really do live in the future...

The Sportsman... taking off

The Sportsman is going to be less active for the next week or so, as I take off some time to launch a new Tumblr project. There will be a few posts, here or there. For example, a post about today's penetration count. (Check in tomorrow to find out what that means.) And, of course, we'll be announcing the launch of the Tumblr page once it's up.

Ice Skater/Musician Mash-Ups (OR Who Approved This?)

Recently, a friend of the Sportsman sent in this video...
...which is startling similar to this video...
...which is very much like this video...
...which begs the question, who the hell actually watches this crap?

The fact that somebody spent money to put on one of these monstrosities is simply amazing. Even more amazing though is the fact that both a major network (NBC) and a cable channel (the Hallmark Channel) thought that this would be appropriate to put on TV (and probably paid money for the right to do so.) Wow.
