And what an art it is... one that I have yet to master, at that.

I recently remembered that I never posted that I was taking a break from this project to pursue a few others in the world of blogging.

Things are going well over at Teen Ink & in school ..which has been leaving me strapped for time, more than usual...

Anywhoo, in the next few weeks, I'll decide what to do with this blog.
As for now, it's a bit of shell, especially in comparison to the other site which I won't link to(directly, hehe)for the sake of keeping the anonymity of this blog :)

Of course, being the dynamic individual that I am (sometimes)... I may just decide to change the whole direction of the blog...who knows?

Open Call for Bloggers

Hey everyone:
I know this blog has been in and out for the past few weeks. My internet has literally been in and out and any internet access has been limited to my phone :/. Thank god for 3G. Anyways, without dealing with the hassle of updating from my cell...I decided it'd be best to hold out until I could get a stable internet connection.

Anyways: I'm all done with my college journey (kind of?), well at least I hope, & it kind of stunts the whole purpose of the blog. Soo...I've been thinking lately about how awesome it would be to have a group of high school students (seniors preferred, juniors okay as well) blog about the college admissions process and then possibly continue their blog through their freshman year of college.

The details and the idea are scattered and I realize it may be a little late in the game, but I still think it's a great idea & it would offer a decent plethora of perspectives on the admissions process.

SO. Here's my proposition: If you know of any high school seniors that would be interested in this idea or you're a fellow high school senior yourself--feel free to contact me through Blogger or via e-mail @ Brooklynita@gmail.com

By far the best song of the season. Mariah Carey is on here for the second time and I guess that says something. It does, Mariah's voice is phenomenal and I've never heard anyone that can sing like her. Even though she's not really putting her voice to use at the moment, or rather for a moment that seems to last a decade,we still know she can sing. I'm reminded everytime I get goosebumps while listening to this song. Pure talent at its best...here she is:

It took me a while to find a recent and decent picture of Whitney Houston. She's had a lot of problems throughout the years, but Whitney's voice is undeniable...especially on this song. It's not my favorite song, in general, but Whitney's version is breathtaking. Enjoy.

Again, I generally hate instrumentals...but here is the other one I was talking about.
You can hate instruments and music all you want, but you cannot deny the fact that this Seattle native has got talent & it shows every time you hear him perform. He's also pretty damn hot, if that counts for anything.

I know people generally hate instrumentals & I do as well, however, 2 of my favorite Christmas songs just happen to be instrumentals. This one is a cover of Sleigh Ride & it is one of the HARDEST songs to find. I don't know the orchestra/band who did this particular rendition & because there are so many "Sleigh Ride" Instrumentals...it is very difficult to locate. However, the best version according to me, was found eventually after downloading and listening to many random versions on Limewire. Still have no artist name, but you'll hear it on the playlist that I'll be posting soon. :).

As you may have noticed, I don't have a lot of newer artists on this list--& for good reason, as the newer stars never tend to get the great Christmas favorites right. But those that have made this list have made contributions to the world of Christmas music. Chris Brown, also the only hip-hop artist that has made this list, does a great job on this song. I'm not a big fan of the movie, but he sure is easy on the eyes(read: amazingly sexy). Boy what I wouldn't give to have him under ...uh, my Christmas tree. Haha.

Only a hippopotamus will do. Another hilarious song, you have got to hear it if you haven't. Don't think it's been covered/redone, but it was originally sung by 10-year-old Gayla Peevey to raise money to buy a hippopotamus for the local city zoo, which at the time had none. Gayla's efforts earned the zoo $3,000 to fly a hippo out to it's new home and she earned a place in our hearts for many years to come (Awww).

Don't know or care who does the vocals, the song is hilariously stupid, but goes well with the story of the movie. Er. Or so I've heard. Lol, but it's good for laughs...

The 2004 reincarnation of the charity group Band Aid, re-recorded this Christmas hit to benefit the Darfur region. The more modern version of Band Aid, called themselves Band Aid 20 and utilized talents of many modern superstars of all genres of music from Sir Paul McCartney to Estelle to Natasha Bedingfield to Dido to Bono of U2 and so many more! I love when talented people get together for a cause & the song has such a great message for us all. Check them out here.
