Eden suffers from the post-nap grumpies. This is, unfortunately, a trait she gets from me. You may notice in this video that I ask her "Yes?" a lot. This is because she recently learned how to nod her head and I was trying to get her to do it. Obviously, this was the wrong time for such a request. :)

Eden has been showing a lot of interest in using utensils to feed herself lately, so we've been letting her go for it. Some days are better than others.

PS--I have no idea where the farting sounds came from, but I can promise you it's not from either of us!

Sooo...we've lost our camera. Again. So, those 1st birthday pictures I promised to post? They're on that camera. I'm devastated that we will probably never have those wonderful milestone photos. They were just of cake and ice cream in our kitchen, but still. And how shitty do I feel as a parent? I'm holding out some hope that it will turn up somewhere at sometime.

In the meantime, I've had a request for some more videos, so I'm about to inundate this blog with some videos and photos over the next few days. I'm can't promise that I'll be better about posting text & updates because life with a toddler is proving to be more exhausting than life with a newborn. I can only promise that I'll try.

9 Month Stats

So, here we are, Eden almost 10 months old, and I'm finally getting around to posting about her 9 month visit. As you can see, this has essentially turned into a photo blog, but I have a feeling you all enjoy the pictures much more than the words. :)

Nothing much new to report...E's healthy and growing. She came in at a whopping 14 lbs., 12 oz., 25 1/4 inches long, with a head circumference of 43 cm. For those keeping track, that's up 4 lbs. and 1 1/4 inches from 6 months. I was thinking she was going to be getting a bunch of shots, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out this visit was shot-free. Yay!

It was a pretty straight forward meeting...discussed a little bit about weaning and trying to cut out the night feeding that Eden has decided she needs after sleeping through the night for 5 months. (That all started around 7 months when she started crawling. I've heard that hitting milestones would affect there sleep, and just when it seems like we're working through it, she hits another milestone.)

I did ask the doctor about the possible cause of Eden's recent rosey cheeks. My sister-in-law mentioned when we visited in December that her daughter (Eden's cousin, who is 2 weeks younger) had the same rosey cheeks right before she got her first tooth. The pediatrician thought it was more likely cold weather related vs. teething since he didn't see anything when he looked in her mouth. Turns out he was wrong. A week later, I noticed Eden's first tooth popping through. And a mere 3 days after that came the second! It was a little rough going at first...cranky, clingy, lots of chewing and drooling. Tylenol and Orajel definitely helped. It, of course, disrupted her sleep and now we're battling a cold that's had her waking up and having trouble getting back to sleep.

(I know sleepless nights are something that comes with parenting, and I'm certainly not trying to rush her growing up, but I long for the days when she willingly sleeps until noon. ;) And maybe then I'll wake her up at 3 in the morning. You know, just to tell her I love her.)

Christmas and Cousins and Climbing (OH MY!)

Phew! I apologize for the large gap in posting. I'm sure you all can understand the craziness that is the holiday season.

We braved Christmas travel and headed to NY to spend Christmas with J's family this year. I was really excited for this trip as Eden and I finally got to meet her cousin Lyla, who is just 2 weeks younger. I was not, on the other hand, excited about the airport and plane ride up there. I hate flying, but I was more worried about how E would do, especially since she's so mobile now. We also had to upset her sleeping schedule due to our flight times, so I was just envisioning a cranky, sleep-deprived baby that didn't want to be held. I had no need to worry because she was as perfect as a (almost) 9 month old can get. We even had numerous people (including the flight attentdents) comment on how good she was. I know that is no guarantee for other trips we take, but I defintely feel more comfortable about doing it again.

While we were in New York, Eden decide to master pulling herself up. She'd been trying her darndest to do it pretty much since she started crawling (which she still isn't doing on her knees), but couldn't quite figure out how to get on her feet. Now, all she wants to do is pull up and stand. We are so doomed to have an early walker! :)

And as I said above, Eden and Lyla got to meet for the first time. They were so cute together, trading toys and inspecting each other. We all could definitely see a resemblance, but we're not quite sure what it is. Eyes? Cheeks? Nose? Maybe you all can tell from the pictures.

All in all, we had a wonderful (and snowy!) Christmas and look forward to many more to come!
