Jill Clark Practicing Law Without A License? PART SEVEN OF THE LEGAL EXCOMMUNICATION OF JILL CLARK...

This blogger recently caught wind of a disciplinary hearing against Jill Clark and some strong indications she might be, at the very least, ACCUSED of practicing law while suspended.

A recent tour of Clark's two blogs (Jill Clark Speaks and Jill Clark Continues) shows even more evidence of, well, SOMETHING...

It appears that Clark is involved in some of the cases of her old clients, including the infamous Trisha Farkarlun who falsely accused police officers of raping her. Since Clark can't sign (what appears to be) legal correspondence as "Jill Clark, Attorney" she is now signing the documents "Jill Clark, Advocate." Plus Clark's blog is filled with ramblings about the topic of, well, what IS an attorney, really?

Perhaps the pointed question which needs to be asked is not "what is an attorney" but "what is practicing law without a license in the state of Minnesota?"

Here is what appears to be the relevant portion of the law on that issue:

The line between what is and what is not the practice of law cannot be drawn with precision.

Lawyers should be the first to recognize that between the two there is a region wherein much of

what lawyers do every day in their practice may also be done by others without wrongful invasion

of the lawyers' field. ' Cowern v. Nelson, 207 Minn. 642, 647, 290 N.W. 795, 797 (1940).

Proposed to Supreme Court in Petition of Minnesota State Bar Association Regarding

Multidisciplinary Practice (Jan. 2002) – Petition Denied Sept, 17, 2002

“Practice of law” denotes the following activities:

1. Rendering legal consultation or advice to a client;

2. Appearing on behalf of a client in any hearing, proceeding or related deposition or

discovery matter or before any judicial officer, court, public agency, referee, magistrate,

commissioner or hearing officer, except where rules of the tribunal involved permit

representation by nonlawyers;

3. Engaging in other activities that constitute the practice of law as provided by statute or

common law.

Clark's activities certainly APPEAR like practicing law without a license, but something tells me new case law might be developed in the very near future which says something like, "When your law license is suspended, but you keep working on the legal issues of your old clients and just signing off as their 'advocate' instead of their 'attorney' well, THAT would be practicing law without a license, Ms. Clark."

By the way, I visited the clerk of the State Supreme Court just the other day to look over documents in the Jill Clark disciplinary case. But I couldn't see the file because it was "in the hands of the commissioner." It's almost a month before Clark's June 10 hearing, and already the file busy.

Interesting. And this does not bode well for Clark.

Since I was already at the building, I decided to look over the file from the old "True JACC" civil suit in which Clark acted as plaintiff attorney. (And when I say "acted," well, the verb "to act" is certainly pulling double duty, there) Buried in that file I found an interesting document which I have dubbed the "Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire" document which lays out in detail how Clark (allegedly) lied to judges about her need for "medical leave" and her "disability."

Criminal Complaint Filed In Jeremiah Curtis Murder Provides Sad Details Of A Man Slain In Front Of His Family...

Just as JNS blog had information before any other media entity which identified the shooter accused in a recent Northside murder, so does this blog have the name of the victim before all other news media.

Jeremiah Curtis, pictured above, is the victim. Two tribute pages have appeared on Facebook, which are IN MEMORY OF JEREMIAH CURTIS and IN LOVING MEMORY OF JEREMIAH CURTIS.

According to a source close to the family, Curtis and his baby mother had lived for a while at the house of Eddie Hubbard, who is a gay man. My source asserts there was "some kind of weird jealousy thing" between Eddie, Jeremiah, and the baby mother. In short, Eddie Hubbard couldn't have Jeremiah Curtis and that made him mad. The baby mother and Curtis were in the process of moving out when there was an argument over "some stupid thing," maybe about taking a trip to the drug store...

Hubbard went and fetched a sawed off shotgun. One of the kids cried, "Are you going to kill my mommy? Are you going to kill Jeremiah?"

The answer was apparently in the affirmative, because Jeremiah ended up dead. After killing Jeremiah, Hubbard reportedly pointed the shotgun in the face of Jeremiah's baby mama and told her she better tell police it was an accident, or she'd be dead, too.

I'm told that Jeremiah Curtis had some rough spots in his background but was "just starting to turn his life around." Normally, this phrase causes me to say all kinds of sarcastic and caustic things but this is just so sad that I'm not in the mood for that kind of thing.

Watch for further info on The Adventures of Johnny Northside. I expect the criminal complaint will fall into my hands soon enough.

Homicide Victim JDawg Ferguson Was Involved In Bad Lifestyle Choices, Including Consumption Of "Purple Drank"

JNS blog has linked the name of a recent victim of Northside homicide, Ju-Chaun Ferguson, to the Facebook profile of a guy who called himself "Jdawg Ferguson." Click here for previous article.

If Jdawg isn't dead, well, then a lot of his friends are mistakenly leaving tributes on his Facebook photos...

Tammy Jodi James, who hails from Kankakee, Illinois and describes herself as "Married Tuh A Boss" left the following tribute:

"He sent this picture to my phone. R.I.P. (Heart symbol)

In response, Kumup Teamcash of Minneapolis wrote, "R.I.P. to a real nigga."

The photo on which these comments were posted is below.

Note the red Converse sneakers. These appear to have been something of a trademark for JDawg.

Where did JDawg grow up? How did he end up dead in Minneapolis? It's not clear from his Facebook page. JDawg was in Tennessee not so long ago. He uploaded a number of photos from his phone and Facebook automatically noted the locations, including Memphis, Knoxville and Sevierville.

Here are some of the photos he uploaded from Tennessee.

At some point, Jdawg took a journey. He seemed to be headed toward Minneapolis. Two photos were taken at a bus station in Milwaukee.

He posted a total of six photos after the bus station photos were posted. One might assume these photos were taken in the Twin Cities, though the muted colors in one of the photos makes me think it could have been a photo hardcopy that was scanned. Also, I can't find any location clues that tell me exactly where the photos were taken.

Judge for yourself, JNS blog readers. Here are the "photos posted after the Milwaukee bus station photos." (The image of Jdawg sitting on the stairs, posted above, was another one of those images)

There is a series of pictures which show Jdawg preparing and consuming something called Purple Drank. Some months ago, this blog wrote a story where Purple Drank figured prominently in a South Minneapolis homicide, click here.

Note, in photos below, two of the elements of Purple Drank: Sprite and Jolly Ranchers. I don't need to guess whether Jdawg was consuming Purple Drank because, in one of the photos, he labels it as "Drank," which is the common term for a mixture of Sprite, Jolly Ranchers candy, and the drugs codeine and promethazine.

Jdawg took photos of wads of cash, which is common among young and urban men who are either in the drug game or would like everybody to THINK they are. Here is one of those photos.

Gee, not even enough to fix a car transmission. I'm just saying.

What was Jdawg doing in Minneapolis and why did somebody feel the need to kill him? I could keep on posting photos of his bad lifestyle choices and perhaps I will in the near future. God knows there are enough images for a Part Two.

For the moment, however, I will just note this.

The crime remains unsolved. His murderer is presumably still at large.

Information floating around Facebook has linked the name of a recent victim of Northside violence, Ju-Chaun Marquis Ferguson, with a Facebook profile for "Jdawg Ferguson," who appears to be a lowlife involved in bad lifestyle choices, as illustrated by the photo above.

Supreme Court To Hear Jill Clark Lawyer Discipline Arguments, IT'S PART SIX OF THE LEGAL EXCOMMUNICATION OF JILL CLARK...

Well, it's about time for an update on Jill Clark, who was suspended from the practice of law due to her spectacular and well-documented mental health issues. Clark was a one-woman lawsuit machine against people who were aligned with the revitalization movement in North Minneapolis, but I've heard it said the Johnny Northside defamation lawsuit drove her over the edge.

God knows I'm perfectly willing to take credit where credit is due.

Since losing her mind, Clark has tried to BECOME Johnny Northside by being a blogger of sorts, but what her blogs lack in popularity they also lacks in clarity, readability, and relevance.

And yet Clark persists.

Possibly, she has also persisted in trying to be a lawyer even though she is suspended...

Right now, a hearing on Clark's disciplinary matter is scheduled before the State Supreme Court for June 10, 2013. Interestingly, Clark's case is at the very top of the docket. It is a "petition for discipline" so take that for what it's worth.

It's not surprising the Supreme Court would get around to hearing the case about disciplining Clark. What is surprising (besides the fact Clark can always find new ways to surprise me) is that information posted to the State Supreme Court website appears to hint Clark has been attempting to practice law without a license and it has come to the attention of the judicial system.

A notation on the Supreme Court website in Clark's case has the following information:

(JNS blog readers will recall Aschemann is the "weird religious cult guy" who is carrying on some kind of endless custody battle which requires killing all the world's trees)

Documents in these cases are not posted on the Supreme Court website, but taking the notations and contrasting them against stuff Clark is publishing on her blogs (Jill Clark Speaks and Jill Clark Continues) it seems fair to say this much:

Clark doesn't believe she's been fairly suspended, she may not even believe she's been LEGALLY suspended, and she feels entitled to continue practicing law.

Fair statement? I think so.

Take these interesting notations in the Clark case for what they are worth. But clearly, the crazy train is still chugging forward on its tracks and, oh gee, it looks like I'll have to cover the story.

JNS BLOG EXCLUSIVE: Man Accused In Recent Northside Murder Is Edward "Eddie" Hubbard, A Home Owner...

Mainstream media are reporting a suspect is in custody following a recent Northside shooting. Apparently it was just too much work for these mainstream media to spend ten minutes looking through the jail roster so the suspect could be named...

Edward Hubbard, who is listed on the jail roster as "Eddie" Hubbard, is the suspect. His address is listed as 2934 Girard Ave. N., and it turns out this address is owned by the very same Eddie Hubbard and is a homesteaded property.

I have looked, but have found no criminal record for this man in Hennepin County. There are people named Edward Hubbard who have relatively minor, mostly traffic related stuff. This may or may not be the same guy, but either way it doesn't add up to a hill of beans.

No bail has yet been set for Edward Hubbard.

Further Details About Arrest Of Dominique Sinkfield In "After Hours Club" Double Homicide...

For weeks, JNS blog had the story all to itself about the arrest of Cory J. Bryant in a double homicide at an illegal after-hours nightclub, with alleged co-conspirator Dominique Sinkfield not known to be in police custody. It wasn't clear if Sinkfield was on the lam or a cooperating witness.

Now, mainstream media is reporting Sinkfield under arrest and in custody along with Cory Bryant. But JNS blog still has details nobody else has...

Turns out Sinkfield, also known as "D-Bo," was indeed a fugitive and reportedly fled the state. But he was apprehended and...

...is now in Hennepin County Jail.

On the criminal complaint, which is nearly identical to the complaint against Cory Bryant except for having Sinkfield's information on it, Sinkfield's home address is listed as 5700 73rd Ave. N. N 217, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. However, on the jail roster his address is listed as "Bradley Apartments, St. Paul, 55429."

Sinkfield's bail is a million dollars over the alleged murder, plus another $100,000 over a weapons charge. There are additional charges listed of marijuana possession in a "not small amount" and violating a no-contact order, allegedly.

Sinkfield is innocent until proven guilty.

Ward 4 City Council Incumbent Barb Johnson Gets DFL Nomination On First Ballot, According To Facebook Chatter..

It is being widely reported on Facebook forums that Barb Johnson, who represents Ward 4 on the Minneapolis City Council and is the council president, has won the all-important DFL nomination. Word is this happened on the first ballot.

Barb Johnson, who was widely expected to face no candidate at all in the race since Troy Parker didn't appear to be running, was facing a candidate named Kris Brogan who has no qualifications worth noting other than residency. A blog called The Brogan Files appears to have made an impact on the race, arguably reducing Brogan to a marginal candidate who didn't appear qualified to hold office. The authorship of the blog remains unknown.

It is unknown if Brogan will continue in the race despite the (reported) drubbing at the DFL convention or if she will wisely drop out. Given how effective The Brogan Files has been in the fate of this council race, JNS Blog believes we will see a continued "blogification" of city council races in the future.

One Out-Of-Town Dirtbag Kills Another Out-Of-Town Dirt Bag, Now Hennepin County Has To Pay For The Murder Trial Plus Freezer Space In The Morgue (NOT NORTH MINNEAPOLIS RELATED, THANK GOD)

I saw a Chicago address on the jail roster recently and noticed the dude was charged with MURDER. Hoping to get lucky and turn up a story related to North Minneapolis, I obtained the criminal complaint. Well, it turns out the murder happened in SOUTH Minneapolis.

So it's KIND of lucky, in a way.

Lucky it didn't happen in MY neighborhood.

Digging into the circumstances of the murder charge (click here for criminal complaint) led me to conclude there hadn't been enough media coverage of this incident, so I aim to fix that.

The murder happened in South Minneapolis on November 7 of last year. Police responded to a call of gun fire and found a man lying dead in an alley. The dead man was named Michael Hayden and subsequent investigation determined he'd been killed by a Chicago resident named Steven John Williams.

What the article doesn't tell you which becomes clear from reading the criminal complaint is...

...the victim and his killer knew each other and were living in a hotel together. They had "arrived in the Minneapolis metro area" together. Though the complaint doesn't explicitly say Williams and Hayden came from CHICAGO together, it's a matter of record that Williams is from that city. In fact, on the jail roster he is listed with an address of 9045 S. Racine Avenue, Chicago. So it certainly LOOKS like a couple of dirt bags moving here from Chicago, holing up in some fleabag motel, and then one kills the other in a dispute.

Williams accused Hayden of stealing money from him. Despite this, Hayden was still hanging around with Williams and was last seen obtaining food from a McDonalds in the company of Williams. Not long after, it appears Hayden was executed in an alley. One witness heard Williams speaking on the phone shortly before the murder and saying, "If I do this, I will need to get out of town."

It is a shame Williams (and for that matter, Hayden) ever came to town in the first place. One can't help but wonder if Williams brought ideas with him from Chicago; a false notion you can just leave somebody dead in an alley and police won't solve the murder or pursue the murderer too energetically because there's just too many bodies.

Like in Chicago.

What on earth draws the scum of Chicago to the streets of Minneapolis? And how can we make them go the hell BACK to Chicago?

Unfortunately, if Williams is convicted he will be sitting in a MINNESOTA prison, paid for with MINNESOTA tax dollars.

And for what? For killing another guy who wasn't from Minnesota, either, but the murder just HAPPENED to take place in our state shortly after these two scum bags arrived.

Whatever it is that keeps drawing the scum of Chicago to our fair city...

We need to find a way to stop it.

Patrick Timberlake Sentenced To Eight Years, But Gets One Last Laugh On His Jailers...

Patrick Carl Timberlake, who was a member of the "Skitz Squad" formed for the purpose of revenge and retaliation on behalf of their murdered friend Juwan "Skitz" Osbourne, was recently sentenced to eight years for a shooting spree that injured two people. KSTP reported the sentencing, but other media entities apparently decided Timberlake got enough coverage during his actual guilty plea.

Timberlake was "released" from the Hennepin County Jail on May Day, no doubt boarding that big bus to St. Cloud where new prisoners are categorized and eventually parceled out to various facilities, rather like the processing of fish. I'm not sure how this happened, but the last few weeks of his incarceration Timberlake's home address was listed as 2017 Russell Ave. N.

Kejuan Raymond Watkins Of 3818 Lyndale Ave. N. Charged With Robbery, Complaint Describes A Car Chase With 10 Shots Fired...

On April 20th, a day when nothing much good seems to happen, a guy whose initials are M.S. was hanging around an apartment in Brooklyn Center with "several other males." One of the males, Kejuan Raymond Watkins, was holding not one but TWO handguns.

Watkins tapped M.S. on the leg and asked, "What have you got?" (This according to the criminal complaint, click here)

M.S. struggled to get control of the guns. Another guy named Montez Eugene Brown was there, also holding a gun, and yelling, "SHOOT HIM! SHOOT HIM!" as Watkins struggled with M.S.

During the struggle, Brown hit M.S. in the face with a gun, causing M.S.'s lip to bleed...

Somehow, M.S. was not shot dead. He was relieved of his money but managed to run away from the apartment, getting into his vehicle and fleeing the scene. A gold Taurus followed M.S., but soon enough M.S. was the one following the Taurus. The occupants of the vehicle started shooting and, according to M.S., fired about 10 rounds. Police who canvassed the route found two spent casings and a slug, plus witnesses who heard the shooting.

Kejuan Watkins was ultimately taken into custody and now faces charges of felony first and second degree robbery. He also uses the aliases of Kejuen Raynoldo Watkins and Kajhan Reynoldo Watkins. The criminal complaint lists his address as 3818 Lyndale Ave. N.

The address is a rental owned by Danlen Properties, LLC, a slummy company whose name is pretty much dirt as far as this blog is concerned.

Authorities In Rural Blue Earth County Arrest Three In Bizarre Gas Station Riot, North Minneapolis Resident Davon Jones Faces Five Charges...

A trio of thugs, at least one of them from North Minneapolis, have managed to make criminal celebrities out of themselves in rural Blue Earth County, Minnesota and face a raft of charges related to a bizarre riot at a gas station.

On April 28 at 2 in the morning, Officer Steven Hoppe of Mankato was called to a report of shots fired at the Kato Ballroom, which is (I should point out) is the premiere private event center for that city, serving the community for 58 years. Click here to enjoy their photo gallery.

On his way to the scene, Hoppe saw a large group of males and females "standing toe to toe" at the Holiday Gas Station as though involved in a confrontation. (In reading the complaint, it seems implied though not directly stated the disturbance at the Kato Ballroom had spilled over to the gas station, especially since a gun was involved and, well, turns out Davon Jones had a gun. Allegedly) Officer Hoppe pulled into the parking lot, arriving at the same time as a Minnesota State Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Cornish.

The crowd proceeded to rush the gas station...

The lone cashier appeared to be overwhelmed. It was only moments earlier, right before police arrived on the scene, when a black female with star tattoos (complaint doesn't say where she had the tattoos) walked into the store and asked the clerk if she was working all alone.

The correct answer would be, of course, to brandish a pistol and reply, "No, I have this little friend, here, who keeps me company." But the clerk didn't know the correct answer. She said she was alone. The female with the star tattoos walked outside and made a motion with her arms for everybody to come in, at which point 40 to 50 individuals rushed the store. People were yelling at the clerk and trying to distract her so items could be stolen. The whole incident was captured on video and later review showed several displays kicked over, items knocked from shelves and thrown around the store, and "bags of chips and cans of pop strewn around the store."

Police managed to detain Arthur Lord (sic) Fields, pictured above, but Fields didn't want to comply. He wouldn't bring his hands behind his back. Officers advised Fields he would be zapped with a Taser if he didn't comply.

Fields still didn't comply so...

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume some of those marks on his face were from grinding his head against the pavement while voltage shot through him.

Meanwhile, officers detained Davon Maurice Jones, pictured below, for stealing cigarettes.

A witness on the scene whose initials are M.S. is described in the complaint as playing for both sides, on the one hand informing officers in detail of everything he witnessed, on the other hand M.S. admitted he tried to steal cigarettes himself. When M.S. told Davon Jones that maybe Jones should pay for some cigarettes, Jones reportedly said, "Shut the fuck up or I will knock you the fuck out."

Oh, there you go.

Terroristic threat. Allegedly.

Officer Hoppe ordered Davon Jones and Michael Corey Jones (relation unknown) to hit the floor, grabbing both of them by their shirts.

Michael complied but Davon tried to get away, and appeared to have a weapon. Davon actually tore off his red shirt trying to escape, floundering into an "end cap" of merchandise, as Hoppe shot Davon with a taser.

Only one taser dart went into Davon, who was still trying to flee. The officer shot Davon with the taser AGAIN, and this time managed (in the dry words of the complaint) to "complete the circuit."

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

Davon was still trying to resist after that, but was handcuffed and discovered to have a Ruger 9 mm pistol, loaded, with a round in the chamber. Davon has a conviction for First Degree Burglary so he isn't allowed to play with guns. The complaint also notes two packs of cigarettes were found on Davon.

While at the "Blue Earth County Justice Center," Davon Jones (who may be accustomed to a more impersonal urban standard of custody and control) was dumb enough to speak on the phone to his wife and say, "I'm gone. I'm gone because they found my gun." This utterance made its way to the criminal complaint.

Davon Maurice Jones (aka Von Jones, aka X Jones) DOB 10/03/1992 is charged with possessing a pistol or assault weapon after being adjudicated for a crime of violence, terroristic threats, obstructing legal process, third degree riot, and theft of moveable property.

On the complaint, his address is listed as 2106 Frement (sic) Avenue North, which apparently means Fremont Ave. N., a rental owned by Delma Olson of Chisago, the taxpayer listed as Mana Holdings LLC of Roseville.

It's been quite a while since a case of "urban North Minneapolis thug versus rural authorities" has made its way to this blog, click here for previous example from Swift County. The question is always, "What the hell were they thinking pulling some kind of stung (allegedly) out there in the sticks?"

Another Fire At Another Mahmood Khan Rental Property, CONFIRMED CONFIRMED CONFIRMED...

Yesterday, my fellow Northside blogger Hawthorne Hawkman managed to confirm what I strongly suspected:

A house fire on the 2000 block of 21st Ave. N. took place at slumlord Mahmood Khan's property at 2008 21st Ave. N., pictured above. This is the SECOND near-fatal fire at a Khan property to take place this year.

It was only back in early March when a fire at 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. injured nine people, leading to a lot of media coverage and editorial comments by this blogger which were strongly-worded even by my usual freewheeling standards.

Allow me to refresh the public memory about what I said regarding slumlord Mahmood Khan after the house fire which injured nine people...

WHEN IS THE CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS GOING TO TAKE THIS BASTARD'S RENTAL LICENSES!???? WHEN CHILDREN DIE!!??

Two fires at two Khan properties in such a short period of time is either suspicious or negligent, take your pick. It has been said that tragedy strikes in threes, but twice now our city has gotten lucky. Nobody died in the first house fire, even though a 4-year-old child was thrown out a second story window into the arms of a Fire Department truck driver. Nobody died in this second house fire, even though a family was displaced.

Will our city get so lucky a third time?

There should not be a third time.

The City of Minneapolis must act, and act quickly and decisively, to strip Mahmood Khan of his rental licenses and take control of his slummy rental properties before American citizens die in a preventable tragedy under the very eyes of their city government.

Act, City Government of Minneapolis, ACT!!!

Stop jabber-jawing about this situation, stop shuffling papers, stop waiting for "the process" to play itself out.

It seems like lately the State Crime Lab has been getting to the bottom of a big pile of cold cases and identifying suspects. It was only back in March when I wrote a story about Leroy Gilliam being linked to a rape from 1996. Now, prosecutors have charged Deon (Mama Didn't Give Him A Middle Name, Apparently) Sinkfield with two rapes from the 1990s...

Sinkfield is accused of raping a 16-year-old female. The female accepted a ride from Sinkfield (read the words "allegedly" into all the rest of the allegations in this blog post) and found herself threatened with a knife and raped near 29th and Irving or 29th and James. Click here for the criminal complaint. Sinkfield also drove her to Folwell Park and raped her there. The rape happened August 31, 1994, but DNA in the case wasn't linked to Sinkfield until November of 2011. Sinkfield has a conviction for criminal sexual conduct that happened in 1992.

The complaint notes, dryly, "The Defendant is a suspect in three other "Cold Hit" sexual assault cases.

Here is one of them, click for criminal complaint. In that case, a female named LE (whose age is not given in the complaint) was walking near Penn and 35th when a vehicle pulled up. Three people with masks and guns forced her into the vehicle. Near 44th and Humboldt, two of the individuals got out of the vehicle. The remaining occupant of the vehicle drove to 44th and Bryant, where he raped the victim, pointing a gun at her as he did so. Then he drove her to a nearby park (the park is not named) took off her clothes and raped her some more.

He then drove her to 44th and Humboldt and pushed her out of the car; naked, one presumes, though the complaint isn't specific. She walked home. A cousin assisted her and specimens were collected. This was April 26, 1994. It was December of 2010 when the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension managed to link the DNA from the rape to Deon Sinkfield.

Those are the only two criminal complaints I have for Sinkfield. However, the complaints mention there were FOUR rapes and the jail roster lists four charges, including what appears to be two charge of sexual assault against victims under 13 years of age.

Wow. A million and a half dollars bail.

Sinkfield was arrested in September of last year and has been rotting in jail ever since but, oh, look! He has a hearing in mid-May.

On both the criminal complaints, Sinkfield's home address is listed as 2131 Queen Ave. N., a rental property owned by Gregory Martin. The address has appeared on the Hennepin County Jail Roster as the home of a guy named Matias Jefferson. Also, a couple different businesses have used this address, which is often the case with any Northside rental property; at some point in history there is almost always SOMEBODY claiming that address as the shining world headquarters of a thriving business empire worthy of big, fat bank loans.

I'm just saying.

On the jail roster, Sinkfield lists a different address: 2649 James Ave. N.

That's very interesting, because the address in question is a PARCEL. There isn't even a HOUSE at that address. The parcel is, however, owned by a family member of Deon Sinkfield who has the same last name.

Candid blogger admission: Deon Sinkfield came to my attention because I was looking for a guy named Dominique Deshon Sinkfield who is named in a criminal complaint as suspected in the murder of Demetrius Harper.

It is unknown whether Deon Sinkfield (click here for mug shot) is any relation to Dominique Sinkfield.

In the course of trying to determine the address of a house fire described in a mainstream media story, I searched the 2000 block of 21st Ave. N. by driving around in the frigging dark and then I did an online search of Minneapolis property records for any clues to the precise address.

I didn't manage to turn up the address.

Allow me to point out it's very annoying when the mainstream media reports on tragic house fires but then describes the address as "the blah blah hundred block of whatever avenue north."

Like, WHAT?! Is the information...

....classified in the interest of national security? Does a Level Three Sex Offender live there and we have to protect his pervert privacy? What is this, FREAKING NORTH KOREA? Why is the media involved in actively censoring stories and failing to provide useful information?

Anyway, I didn't turn up the address of the house fire, but in the course of my search I did discover something interesting about 2008 21st Ave. N., which is one of a number of properties owned by infamous Northside slumlord Mahmood Khan.

Cited. For lack of maintenance. April 15 of this year.

And so the Khan empire crumbles, bit by bit and day by day.

Artsy, Organic Bazaar Proposed For Mereen Johnson Property At 4401 Lyndale Ave. N. As Latest Scheme To Dump Poverty In North Minneapolis FAILS...

In mid-March, there was a brief but intense controversy when the Salvation Army proposed building a "live and work" facility in North Minneapolis. Residents of our neighborhood responded with a predictable lack of enthusiasm over this latest "concentrate all the poverty in North Minneapolis and call that development" development scheme.

The scheme, thankfully, appears dead.

However, out of the controversy and discussion came idea about an alternative plan to develop the Mereen Johnson property at 4401 Lyndale Avenue North...

Here is an account of what happened, which was forwarded to Johnny Northside. I am told this information has been shared on Facebook groups, but I'm making an attempt to disseminate it more widely.

The Mereen Johnson Property is at 4401 Lyndale Ave N in Minneapolis. It was built around 1905, at the height of the lumber milling industry. Will Lumpkins has some great historical pictures and knowledge on the property and surrounding areas, so I would look to him if you're interested to hear more about the historical importance.

Today, Mereen Johnson still owns the property but does not run their operations out of it. It is for sale for 1.4 million dollars and is currently being held by a holding company. What happened a few weeks ago was that Salvation Army presented a proposal to the Lind Bohanon Neighborhood, which is the neighborhood that the property is technically in.

Their proposal was to move their Adult Rehabilitation Center and sorting center from where it is now (downtown) to the Mereen Johnson site; at which point they would tear down the existing historical buildings to replace them with their own. The Salvation Army was met with heavy opposition for a couple major reasons: they would not be bringing any new jobs to the area (something North Minneapolis sorely needs), and they would also be "adding on" to an already poverty-stricken zone. Politically speaking, we wanted to warn people of the dangers of centralizing all poverty and government programs on one side of town.

In addition to the original complaints, we came up with a proposal for how they could repurpose the buildings, thus preserving local history and providing jobs.

From what we hear, Salvation Army has moved on and is looking elsewhere. This is great. But now, we really need to rally community support and find potential investors for our plan.

Also, I have drawn artist-renditions of what the property could look like as a seasonal farmer's market/co-op and indoor bazaar. I am quite obviously not a professional architect and I know that the drawings are crude.

I know important financial information (projected costs and taxes) is not included, but we have started a list of future potential renters. Let me know if you think you know any one who would like to talk more about this plan. We have some enthusiastic people behind us, and I really want to push to see how far we can go.

When a double murder happened at an illegal "after hours" nightclub in North Minneapolis, the mainstream media was all over the story. There were stories about the shooting itself, stories that identified the two dead men, stories about relatives of victims mourning the dead, even a story about the owner of the nightclub (Maurice Harrison) and his history of problems with the city.

So you would think that when prosecutors release a criminal complaint naming both of the alleged shooters and detailing the circumstances, media sources BESIDES The Adventures of Johnny Northside would report these details?

Yeah, I'm kind of stumped on this phenomenon of media silence, as well...

Was there a memo? Did a memo go out to everybody and I missed it? Did the memo say, "Murders in North Minneapolis are interesting and worthy of media coverage, but if we report on the arrest of suspects, well, that's just glorifying what they've done. Allegedly. Henceforth, let's make it a policy to not even report their names."

If such a memo is circulating, I did not receive the memo. And I don't know if the memo is such a good idea, anyway. I think if a murder is worth writing about, then the arrest of an accused murderer is worth writing about, as well.

The only reason I learned about the criminal complaint with the murder charge against Cory J. Bryant was because I was looking through the jail roster (mainstream media should try this little trick, some time) and I spotted a suspect with a North Minneapolis address, serious charges, and a particularly large bail. The criminal complaint names a second suspect, Dominique Sinkfield.

Nobody spoon fed this blogger a press release or even tipped me off. I wrote the story as quickly as possible because I wanted to publish the information first, figuring there was a whole pack of media hounds who would follow with their own stories...but I wanted to have the story FIRST, damn it.

In retrospect...

Seldom does this blogger think it's actually possible to embarrass the mainstream media by sinking my teeth into a good story first, hours or even days before the mainstream media catches up. After all, my readership is relatively limited compared to, for example, the Star Tribune. My subject matter is limited, as well, and tends to stick fairly close to North Minneapolis.

So I figure that if I cover a big story first, it doesn't effect how the mainstream media covers the same story. If it's a big enough story (a murder charge in a high profile double homicide, for example) the mainstream media will cover it, anyway.

My influence, I figured, was more subtle. For example, I keep emphasizing the criminal records of the VICTIMS of shootings, making it clear murder victims in North Minneapolis are, far too often, peas that spring from the same pod as the killers.

But with the arrest of Cory J. Bryant, something has shifted in the media cosmos.

I covered the story.

And the mainstream media didn't.

Even more confusingly, this wasn't the kind of small story that I normally cover and they normally don't.

No, this is the kind of story where, normally, the mainstream media gets the story first (usually off a press release from the prosecutor's office) and in a red hot second the mainstream media are ALL OVER IT LIKE WHITE ON RICE.

Then, about a day later, this blogger comes along and digs up additional details in the bloody, churning wake of their massive media coverage.

That's what USUALLY happens.

When that DOESN'T happen, the pattern is this: I get the story first. I enjoy being first for about 12 to 24 hours.

Then along comes a TIDAL WAVE of mainstream media coverage.

But that didn't happen, either.

What has happened, here, confuses me.

Somebody just got charged in a high profile murder...

And nobody covered it but The Adventures of Johnny Northside.

Duane Cedric Allen Tried To Force His Way Inside A House, Failed, Came Back Later, Said Some Stupid Crap, And Now He's Facing Six Charges...

Duane Cedric Allen, I don't even know what to write about you. I figured there was a good story being hinted at by the jail roster when I saw six serious charges listed and bail of $30,000. But when I obtained the criminal complaint, what did I see?

The headline says it all. Instead of a colorful crime spree, all we have is a drunken dumbass who managed to meet the bare minimum criteria for a number of crimes, repeatedly, just by starring in his own one-man version of Dumb and Dumber.

DUMB was at 3:30 in the morning, when Allen showed up the first time drunk and yelling and shoving. DUMBER was when he came back at 9 a.m. the same day.

Allen's address on the criminal complaint is 2405 5th St. NE Lower Unit, Minneapolis, MN 55413 but on the jail roster his address is 801 Sheridan Ave. N., a rental owned by H & H Real Estate, LLC.

I don't know how to feel about this, Mr. Allen.

Disappointed, mostly.

DNA Links Nitelen Jackson To Glock Pistol Recovered At 4017 Lyndale Ave. N., Allegedly, But Tests On The AK-47 Assault Rifle Were Inconclusive...

Nitelen Jackson, whose arrest record is so long that one of my readers claims it broke the bottom of his computer monitor, is sitting in jail tonight after police managed to link his DNA and a latent print to a couple of weapons recovered at 4017 Lyndale Ave. N.

In an utterance preserved in the criminal complaint allegations, Jackson claims he's never so much as touched a weapon after becoming a felon. According to the Hennepin County Prosecutor's Office, a link between Nitelen Jackson and the two guns started after police were called to 4017 Lyndale Ave. N. on a report of unusual and disturbing circumstances...

Before I get into the missing woman upstairs, the blood and the shots fired through the floor, let me just say something about Kana Properties, LLC...

This is the same slumlord entity that owns 4034 Girard Ave. N., which was the reported address of accused murderer Cory J. Bryant. I just got done writing something about Bryant, like, a couple hours ago. I tell you, Kana Properties is rapidly achieving notorious slumlord status in North Minneapolis.

Anyway, it was January 2 and police were called to 4017 Lyndale Ave. N. because there were two bullet holes in the ceiling of the lower unit which appeared to have come from the upstairs unit. Police were able to find the two spent bullets near a computer desk. The owner of the building said he hadn't seen the lady upstairs for a month and when rent was collected, it was paid by an unknown man. Furthermore, there appeared to be blood on the shared stairway.

Police didn't find anybody home in the upper unit but found a live rifle round on the floor, a bullet hole in a wall between the living room and the kitchen, and spent .40 caliber casings on the floor of the living room. Police located a Glock .40 caliber pistol and an AK-47 rifle between the mattress and the box spring.

For reference purposes, here's what an AK-47 looks like. Here's a friend of mine, an Afghan security guard at Forward Operating Base Gardez, Afghanistan, holding one.

There's a whole story behind this photo but I'm not getting into it at the moment. Note this AK-47 has a folding stock ("rifle butt") but often AK-47s have standard wooden butts. The sling is optional but very necessary when you have to carry a rifle around for a long time...

Anyway, police at the scene found blood splatter in the kitchen and leading down to a basement storage area. A magazine for the Glock was found in a hallway closet and a fingerprint on the magazine matched the print on file for Nitelen Jackson. Some DNA tests were performed and DNA on the Glock was linked to Jackson. The AK-47 was more difficult; five people had handled it. Nitelen's DNA could not be excluded but, then again, neither could the DNA of 57 percent of the population.

Despite some speculation that was passed my way and which I repeated (as mere speculation) there was no mention in the criminal complaint of a Facebook photo showing Nitelen Jackson proudly holding a pistol which was NOT a Glock. (Oh, yes, the photo was real but it doesn't seem to be linked to these new charges, at least not yet)

As for all that blood and the woman who couldn't be found, well, the criminal complaint doesn't shed any light upon that. Maybe somebody can ask Kana Properties LLC if she's been around to pay her rent recently.

As revealed late last night, Bryant is being held on a million dollars bail over the murder charge. I do not have any information right now on Sinkfield but will be digging into that.

Some Interesting Back Story On Good Ol' Thomas Wayne Evenstad, The Chat Line Rapist...

Somebody (I won't say who, exactly) has been kicking juicy info my way about Thomas Wayne Evenstad, the convicted "chat line rapist" who now roams our streets, free as a bird. Notorious legal loon Jill Eleanor Clark was his attorney and helped to free him before she lost her mind, her law license, and the appeal in Moore v. Hoff; the Blogosphere Trial of the Century. Later, during the "True JACC" civil case, Evenstad worked for Clark as a paralegal.

Anyway, I was told that Evenstad's recent habit of clogging the courts with pointless legal actions is not a new development; but rather his habit of being grit in the gears of the judicial system goes back quite a ways. As evidence of that, check out...

Yup, that's the early stuff. A simple drug conviction which Evenstad fought all the way to the State Court of Appeals; where he lost overwhelmingly just as he's going to overwhelmingly lose in his attempt to overturn his chatline rapist conviction. Familiar themes and/or obsessions emerge even as early as this 1994 case such as wild accusations of prosecutorial misconduct. This is a constant theme in Evenstad's attempt to overturn his "chatline rapist" conviction and a constant mantra of Jill Clark, who even has a blog about "prosecutorial misconduct in America."

How about a "wacky lawyers in America" blog? Now THAT would be worth reading. Or a blog about "sexual deviants who file endless lawsuits?"

Obviously there would be a lot of overlap between the two and by "overlap" I mean, of course, JILL CLARK.

In any case...no pun intended...

The correct answer is THIRTY-FOUR.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections has apparently settled on a policy of allowing as many sex offenders as possible to concentrate in the 55411 zip code until a lawsuit is filed to stop them.

Johnny Northside blog is keeping track and keeping score. In January I wrote how the number had reached 31, which was the highest I'd ever seen the number.

Well, now the number is...bigger.

The googly-eyed letch pictured above is, by the way...

...Herbert Stanley Ward. He's been a sex offender since 1975, click here for a court case discussing how incurable he is and a danger to the public. He has a wide-ranging appetite for perversion, with his victims including a 6-year-old female, an adult female stranger, a 4-year-old female and a 14-year-old female. He also has an eerie ability to change his appearance. Compare the "friendly neighborhood super nerd" look, above, with the "old fashioned country boy" look, below.

Yup. That's the same guy!

Like so many OTHER sex offenders, Ward lives on the 2500 block of Golden Valley Road. His supervising agent is Daren Bocksell. For a while, Ward lived in Monticello, Minnesota, but I guess he didn't like it there. He was arrested in Monticello as recently as the fall of 2012, click here.

As for why there's only ONE murder charge listed, that is a mystery. If Bryant was being nailed over the after hours club shooting, you would think TWO charges would be listed, right? I will try to get to the bottom of this thug world big bowl of nasty as soon as time permits. It should also be noted that jail roster data has a tendency to be truncated in confusing ways; I have seen, for example, a mere ATTEMPTED murder to be listed as a murder.

Remember Nitelen Jackson, who starred in The Nine Days Of Nitelen right here on Johnny Northside Dot Com?

Well, it turns out Nitelen couldn't keep himself out of trouble and also he couldn't stop himself from posting information all over social media, even though he must have KNOWN police were watching and taking notes. Recently, an anonymous commenter tipped me off to the fact Jackson had posted a photo of himself on Facebook posing with a gun. When I located the photo and mentioned this little factoid to a high ranking police contact I was told...

They know. They're already all over it.

Now information on the jail roster shows Jackson is indeed rotting in jail, with $30,000 bail for a weapons possession charge and $20,000 for a theft of moveable property charge. JNS blog doesn't have the criminal complaints quite yet but I hope to have them soon. The photo above may be involved in the new charges but that isn't confirmed. The arrest took place April 13. Oh, my goodness, I hope Nitelen got his taxes filed in time!

Jackson has a hearing on May 14. Though he's a skilled thief, I doubt Jackson has that much money laying around so he's likely to do every day of that jail time just waiting for his hearing, and then more time after that, and then a lot MORE time if he's convicted.

It's a shame, really. This is a very clever young man whose personality attracts many followers and admirers.
