We sat next to each other that day; and so
was the beginning of our friendship. I would later chronicle Peter's
performances at the Survival Sunday Anti-Nuclear Concerts at the
Hollywood Bowl circa 1978-1982 thanks to his getting me a backstage
pass. My documentation included travel to NYC in 1982 for the, Peter,
Paul and Mary concert part of the 1982 Peace Rally both at the UN and
in Central Park during a Concert for which I was again backstage
thanks to Peter Yarrow.
Last night I took Annie out on our "first date" to see Peter, whom I
hadn't seen since a visit circa 2002 to his NYC apartment. I asked
him to sign my guitar. Not only did he, but he also signed my right
hand with his private phone number and email. We made a pact to get
together since my stay will now be extended to accommodate mom's
pending operation.
He was so inspiring. I was taken by his low vocal tones and resonant
personality. He had written a bunch of new songs, reprised Puff the
Magic Dragon and played old folk songs like "Once I lived the Life of
a Millionaire (Ain't Nobody Love's You)" and Stewball. The audience
sang along with many of the songs we love to sing ending with Blowing
In the Wind; which he dedicated to Mary - testifying that there will
never be a replacement. It was truly the end of an era... (and
therefore the beginning of a new one).
Thats how I feel too; given the discovery of Annie; my new friend and
Rocks to DNA beauty queen model. She grabbed some great shots of
Peter signing my guitar and this one of "Brother's Peter." I will
have to post some of the other shots (I photographed the concert) up
to share with you.
I have so much to be thankful for and to cherish. Once mom gets thru
her operation, I will truly feel like new beginnings have blessed me/
us. I celebrate! Here Here! A toast to new beginnings and the
happiest of times! Oh Joy!
Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. Well I struck it rich. I walked
into Annie's home that Sunday the day after we met. The day of the
Serendipitous Sensuous Massage Party. She had keyboards upstairs and
down. Everywhere you look there was musical instruments. It warmed my
heart. Not only that. But finally I found a female friend who's
energy compliments mine. A warm and outgoing personality, a risk
taker who is not afraid of flirting with life.
She is as happy without a man as she is with one. But I think
everybody likes to have another body to love. Perhaps our friendship
will take that direction because hugging Annie is like a dream come
true for me. Its so easy to be with her. She feels like home.
On a less happy note:
Mom is in the hospital for observation. Its never a comfortable
feeling to know your parent is so challenged that hospitalization is
needed. She has a sinus infection. But I think she suffered a mild
stroke three nights ago - that was repeated yesterday while my sister
was taking her home from the doctor, so rather than bring her home,
Lynn took her to the hospital. She's been really sick for 5 days.
I've caught the bug from her. I am happy to report its on its way out
after only two days of torment, thankfully!
Unfortunately it dashed several of my plans to get together with
friends in Manhattan and to jam with Annie and friends. Oh well. Its
all perfect and good. I am glad mom is getting a thorough check out.
Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. I spoke my truth about the leader of the Meetup who was playing too loud and dominating the sound, to the point of not being able to hear the other musicians. "Bob" whom I didn't know at all, came up to me after my speech and sounded his support. He whispered his thanks that I'd said something - HIS words and action was so very comforting to me.

There were violins, harmonica's, guitars, keyboards, a recorder; my instrument of the night). The pickup in my Vagabond guitar failed again, damn. Caryl was the first I'd met as I walked into this fun and friendly scene. There were loads of very talented folks all playing the music and songs I love so much. I was home! Finally in NJ.

Caryl was already friends with Bob and "Alice" - whom I was immediately attracted to when I walked into the MeetUP. You see, I had met these fine folks (and many more) at a MeetUp.com online organized event: the Bergen Country Acoustic Musician's Meetup, the day before my mothers birthday on Sept. 25th 2009. Little did I know then, that I would be landing in the midst of some very kindred spirits, fellow musicians and finally, after many years craving, meeting people with whom to play when visiting mother. I am totally grateful I've been gifted so, with these fine new friends with whom to play in the most delightful ways, a gift from God to me for my Mother's 90th Birthday!

The photo was taken two days later during an impromptu more personal jam I had arranged with Caryl and Alice. Bob little did I know had been dating C who is not a musician like the other three. She is a photographer and remains a mystery. Bob is a psychologist and Alice runs a beauty parlor. She agreed to model for my Spirit Body Process Performance Photography which I demonstrated the night I met everyone by trying a few shots in front of the Westside Village Tavern, where the group gathered on the second floor complete with bar and free food. It was a great gathering and party. I loved the band!

Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. One of whom, might become more than a friend?

I will write more another time. I just wanted to go on record (this is being copied to my TAOSB blog). I think I have met a lady with whom the mutual attraction to music (and each other) will (I predict) prove to become significant. We already got together a second time after our first meeting. I met with she and two others from the Jam on the Sunday following Mom's Birthday.

This outstanding beauty Annie T came to pick me up and take me back to her place where the other couple were waiting for us. What transpired next was just short of amazing! The interplay of our persona's dovetailed perfectly. Bob Ted Carol and Alice like: we experienced intimacy that one would not expect on a "first date;" no less as a foursome. I'll give you a hint, the four of us wound up in bed together. Want to know more? Leave a comment ;-) (replies to this email don't count).

Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. The tooth is not completely dead. One lone filling remains and will be buried under the crown. Dr. Brath left a filling that had remained despite this tooth's history**! I have never squirmed so much under the dental drill! You'd think I was faking a painful root canal, NOT. But even after 4 injections of into different locations to numb the nerves, I was still twitching and pulling away from the drill; tearing down the tooth #31's outer surfaces below the gum. Here's a still! Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. Yesterday they did it!

I was so disappointed that Mom was unable/didn't make an effort to document this sacrilegious act either as it was happening (she says it was over before she knew it while she was still in bed) or after. She described the pieces of tree below her window and yet, still claimed she was unable to document it (after we had discussed it the day before the tree chopping).

Needless to say I am very sad that my perfect perch for studying and documenting the Squirrels of Turtle Tree Falls, a famed spot in North New Jersey's Squirrel Square district.

The tree choppers claimed the tree was dead. It was not! I have photos of the buds, leaves and lives of the creatures that used, lived and died in and on that tree!! I will publish my "findings" for your enjoyment. All I need is one person to say, let me see what you've got! Leave a comment to that effect and it shall be done. I will post especially for you!

I will make the time to post an addition to my already in progress ode to Squirrels Site.

Thanks for keeping in touch. I went to a Kaballah Workshop and discovered that Aug 14-15 is a sacred and special time.

I tweaked it a bit, but other than a word or two, it's as I wrote it!

Day before Yesterday was-is momentous (Tuesday) in that Emily (accompanied by drama) came to pick up her things. I told her I loved her again... and that I'm her friend. She came after calling that she was on her way to pick up her suitcase, that just after her father sick'd the police on me telling them she's a missing person (to him). As a result the cop called about her and wanted me to fwd emails.

I had been worried since I'd not heard from her for a week... and so called her mom and dad since emails to Emily were not responded to, and no call from her came in in response to phone messages. It reached a week of no contact with me housing her stuff (only, rather than helping her with a place for her to stay as well as her bags). So I sent out an SOS. Her military father considered my call to him a thankful heads up. In his own words, "We've been estranged for three years" and now "she's also estranged from her mother... we thought she was with a school friend." They had no idea she was on Maui. Whoooops!

The next thing I know Emily makes contact, followed by a call back from her father. I told him what I knew and things escalated. He wanted me to release her things to some guy. I told him I have an agreement with Emily to hold them for her and when she comes to get them, I will be happy to honor my word to her. I am not comfortable releasing her things to a stranger. I was fearful for her well being or I would never have brought her parents into it. If only E was a bit more responsible and considerate.

There are lessons to be learned for sure.... If you don't trust someone, what's it worth? She trusted me with her stuff. I trusted her with access to my studio. I want to help this beautiful young spirit since she's the best model I've worked with in a long time. Had she revealed a bit more about her situation (which she began to, but then pulled back), her strict father finding out her whereabouts might have been avoided. Do you think that its a good thing to part company with a parent to the point of them not knowing where you are?

I suggested to him that maybe she just needs a bit of help to buy a car; since she has secured a job with is very difficult to do on Maui. He told me that's your point of view. Then he called the cops and told them to call me. Emily is a great gal, but unfortunately she crossed a few of my boundaries with broken agreements (on more than one occasion which greatly saddened me) because that prevented my trusting her. So, she came and got her suitcases and other things. I gave her the missing persons report number as well as the cops phone and email.

I hope she will say in touch but I kind of think, despite my offering to employ her modeling services for actual cash, Emily is moving on. Time will tell as it always does. I'm glad to be out of yet another drama created by hosting a needy soul.

Meanwhile Yesterday was Momentous. I got to visit briefly with Stefani and David and meet their friends. My day began at 3am when I finally finished making reservations for travel to my Mom's 90th BIRTHDAY Celebration! Finished the party invitation, bought 4 new tires: ($400), got blood taken for first time in too many years on the way to the Dentist in Lahaina (Dr. Brath) who finished filling my tooth.

I hung out (after replacing my little wooden travel pipe I had to buy for the third time - as I keep losing them) at Barns and Nobel setting up my laptop office and working until Stef and crew arrived. Then continued to hang out and work until darkness hoping to find a spirit Body DNA model. I found something better. The waitress for the next table was hypnotizingly beautiful. I asked if I might photograph her and if she was available. She told me she worked three jobs, but did give me what I hope is her real number. Time will tell. It always does. (damn, she never responded to my messages left on a "naked" voice mail, i.e not personalized.)

Meanwhile, things have slowed down with VMI team building. JP is coming over tonight to make music. Something I haven't done with anyone for a year as the days of Shiloh Bones Band rehearsals are long gone... FOR NOW... time will tell when the music cycle will come round for me again. Hopefully, my potential new friend will also become my muse. Emily almost had that role, but alas, she is lost in her own world. Are you? Am I? Time will tell. Why? Because...

Thanks for keeping in touch. Its not that I really watch or listen mind you, but I just keep it on as background buzz? It helps me concentrate somehow. I don't really do that anymore though. These days for distraction from my multitasking workloads, I like to learn things on the Web so....

I must WARN YOU (I'm sure you already know), the web is a dangerous place for people like me who love to learn! If you like learning too, I highly recommend this site with cool video tips on all sorts of wild and wonderful categories! That's three out of 45 apps i've
downloaded (the first two weeks of having the phone) that were NOT
free:-)

Sent from my iPhone
Love, Blessings & Peace,
Peter
PS: had a great meeting this morning with John & Rainelle RE VMI
artists showcases. I feel a team brewing once again giving me hope behind my faith that my life and passion for CCafe has not been lived in vein.

PPS: went to dentist DDS Brath who XRay'd and saved #20 that a certain Kahului dentis insisted she kill & fill (for $2100.00 including post & crown) twice! Once before I had it filled by someone willing to not kill it, and again after she saw "decay" and put that on top of her treatment plan. Dr. Barth says no decay in *his* 2nd X-Ray (to verify that his $170 filling fills the bill). That saved me a bunch of money.

Its interesting to note the the Kahului dentist showed me a rather unclear xray taken digitally, while Brath's was film. Brath says he'd forward a digital copy of film copy of the XRay if I requested a second opinion. But when I called the Kahului dentist's office to follow up on my paying $50 for X-Rays that were included in their "Welcome Back Package," now, since asking they be forwarded for a second opinion, tell me they can't send the digital copies because their Email system has been down for days (hard to believe that one).

I suggested I would bring a flash drive in to copy and send them myself. They refused again, this time saying their X-Ray system was down also. That was the last straw. I am going to cancel my appointment for deep cleaning on Aug 18, (expecially for $250 a quadrant). Rather, I will go to one of the oldest and IMHO finest dentists in Lahaina, who can do the same work for $150 a quadrant and save me $400!!

The refusal to give my second opinion dentist digital copies of digital X-Ray data was the end of Kahului DDS U for me. From the very beginning I sensed a quiet desperation, no doubt forced by economics. The very first chit-chat was obviously to detect, in leu of the fact I did not have insurance, that I would be able to pay my bills. The ruse of interest in me (do you travel?) was her first question before moving after my affirmative. I guess anyone who can afford to travel is a safe bet. She never did get personal. It was all about the economics. She couldn't wait to tear into the tooth she said would need to be killed and filled, even after me saying (or specifically because of it would prove her wrong) that I had it repaired by someone else.

It fast became fairly obvious... the stress of this office's economic overhead was
palpable from day one! I was infuriated when office REFUSED to send digital copies of
X-Rays to my DDS BUDDY back East who is a master dental technologist. There was no attempt to be of service and deliver higher quality reproductions.

After visiting Brath (who didn't charge me for a confirmation X-Ray on tooth 20, I went to visit George who was on my Akaku TV production team in 2000 during Maui Artists Showcase production days, Pizza in hand. I stayed just long enough to eat, play a bit of guitar, dwnld a new drum Mach app 4 iPhone, before dashing off to hear the concert at MACC with Peter Kater and Dominic Miller. I want to shoot the cover of their next CD I would call, "Blazing by FLYING FINGERS!"

I got home to two DVDs frm Netflix and two packages from APPLE COMPUTER. They appeased me this time with a copy of their Leopard OS and iWork09 production package. Last week I'd received the iLife09 DVD. I must say, despite the occasional challenge with my Macbook Pro, I am quite happy with customer support as well as their technical support. Just make sure if you are not a computer novice, to immediately ask for a supervisor (if your needs are beyond script readers).

I was glad that I have a tapioca left to enjoy w the Netflix movies. It's been one of the most full days I've had in ages. Apple self spelling correction tech works remarkably well on the iPhone. I was texting on it to twitter before walking into my place after the long day. When I got off the chair I keep outside my front door, I noticed SOFTWARE APPLE HAD PROMISED!! What a caper!

I now have a copy of Leopard thanks to last weeks torment with iPhone syncing -- that I probably caused by trying to sync movie files I had copied from the iTunes folder into a new folder on the Desktop. I think somehow they were tagged invisibly as they would not process when dragged back into iTunes: even though the set of movies in the original source folder was removed.

If you've followed this post (even if you didn't understand it where my grammar goes off) I must thank you, for surely you have an interest in me and my world. Now if you'd only let me know it by leaving a comment and say hi!?

Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. What a fate filled trip that was!! I began, an
innocent kid but boy, did THAT change!
While in Negril, Judy gave me "Be Here Now" by Ram Dass. After being
on a Mountain Top homestead belonging to Rastafarian Joshua (from
Jericho) along with some rock n rollers from Flint Michigan, going
back to their Key West Crash Pad, I met the woman who would forever
open my eyes to a greater reality. I drew Darleen Nash is while
playing and singing about my adventures of Jamaica my first day in
Key West. My innocence ended about 10 days later!
Darleen became my reflection, mentor, guide, healer, lover, teacher
etc. Watch the images, hear the stories: http://bit.ly/IWFsP
Let me know what you think/feel from one of my most life changing
moments? Speaking of life changing moments TODAY is the 40th
Anniversary of V.A.R.I.O.U.S.. It was July 11th 1980 when I received
the vision of an Artists Resource Center that would harness creative
force for the healing and good of all. I didn't sleep that night. I
was once again imprinted with an ever more details celestial showcase
of what has become my life's work to manifest: http://twiki.org/cgi-
bin/view/Sandbox/CreativityCafe . Maybe you be of assistance (in the
name of PRONOIA) and hook me up with the "right" people?
This slideshow represents just some of my stories which are of the
"Adventures of Shiloh Bones." As I scan more of my photographic
library of color/black and white negatives, transparencies,
Kodachromes/Ektachromes, RGB Lab produced films, etc., I will be
releasing more stories of my real life experiences: the amazing and
serendipitous "coincidences" that can only happen when one follows
their heart and dreams; honoring the impulse from within - always
telling you which way to go; what is best for you! Hear it?
When Darleen prepared our bedroom for this transformational voyage,
she put up images she painted and photos of the Beatles and Meher
Baba: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meher_Baba - in who's face I saw
my own reflection - his eyes reflected my soul! My own father was
critical, harsh and reprimanding. It was so healing (at 26) to Feel
the Love in Meher Baba's and Darleen's eyes; eyes that beheld mine
from a foot away, yet were connected by a rock solid beam of white
light!
We gazed, face to face, heart to heart for many moments. In her face
I saw rapidly morphing faces of all eternity in a scintillating
display of God-force Presence - Omnipresence. I was in awe at what
was transpiring. The images and experience forever burned into my
consciousness; a holy imprint of meeting her steady look of love, a
look that fully embraced my being and then some.
I could do nothing, say nothing, but watch Darleen's face -
metamorphing into hundreds of expressions of Shakti. I groked what
was happening. I was connecting with all and nothing, the spaceless,
timeless, formless, beingness of all things. The message was we are
holographic moments of now suspended in forever shape shifting energy
formations of light and sound vibration - our "quantum" presence
conforming to a thought, a whim, a whisper of an idea governed by our
perceptions, motivated by our heart-mind and manifested by all there
is as we, each one of us, conjures up our particular aspect of
"reality."
Thanks for keeping in touch. I was thinking of getting one as you might imagine for a long time but knew to wait until the video and cut and paste was up and running. Then my trust and beloved Light painting tool, stereo demo player and LG8100 phone died.

I brought it back to Verizon and their service reps at the store here didn't know which way was up. So when my phone died - after a hike looking for Rose Apples last week, and Verizon couldn't fix it (moisture damage they said) and wanted $150 for a new phone (and locking me in for another 2 years), that was it! I immediately asked them to shut off my service and jumped ship. I went right on over to the AT&T store and plopped down twice that for a spankin new 32GB iPhone 3GS!

I am so excited!! Many new learning curves now for sure (on top of what I am already trying to Grok about Digital Photography Workflow, Stock Photo Agency requirements, realizing my music by Mac Recording Studio tactics, etc. What me, learning curves? You don't really think that that's anything new, do you? LOL.

I am so hooked on learning about so many things. It's no wonder I never leave the Web for long. If there was a lady in my life, that would be different. She'd have to be brilliant since I have a very inquisitive mind.

In fact today after watching a documentary about space-time on BBC TV via the Web, I got out Google Earth to explore the Laser and High Energy Physics observatories mentioned which got me onto the GPS System HQ page ( http://wikimapia.org/131252/Schriever-Air-Force-Base & http://www.schriever.af.mil/gpsoc/ ) from which I wound up at the Web site of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (http://www.nima.mil/portal/site/nga01/) learning about the GPS system that is controlled from a little room in Colorado.

What has this to do with my iphone? GPS is at the core of many of the phones' abilities and services. I can't wait to learn all about this new gadget (last night I download as many manuals, tutorials and tips and tricks pdf's I could find).

So far, I've made a call, taken pix, shot a video, played with the compass and looked at the settings pages. I surfed the Web with Safari and failed at being able to get my mail set up, and syncing with my laptop... That will come in a few days. Right now, I am happy to have a working cellphone again and know that I have joined the Mobile Device generation in earnest!
Thanks for keeping in touch. I shot my last roll of Kodachrome back in 1982 or thereabouts. Here are two of those last images, the first recorded of General Hershy Bar in Barnsdall Park, Los Angeles. The second recorded at the 1982 SAVE OUR EARTH Peace Rally in New York's Central Park showing Peter Paul and Mary being interviewed before their performance.

I had a backstage pass thanks to Peter; whom I'd met three years before at the Songwriters Resources and Services production of a songwriters competition Award Ceremony. I was the staff photographer. I got to sit next to Peter during a lunch break from the rehearsal/sound check rubbing elbows.

You have to realize I learned how to play guitar by listening to PPM recordings over and over and copying the finger picking. So to actually meet on such intimate terms one of my mentors and hero's was a spectacular experience - out shined only by viture of our continued (at that time) friendship. It was he who got me the photographic access to backstage. I have yet to publish any of those images of the celebrities at that time.

We were at the diner on 14th and Wilshire Blvd in LA, in the days of SRS director, Helen King (who's last portrait I shot before she passed on) and before her organization became the National Academy of Songwriters headed by John Brahany (??) and associates.

I have remained in contact with Peter after that, sometimes stopping in unannounced when in town. He even took me to lunch one time. Just the sweetest man you'd ever want to meet. My dad was rather harsh so I am always on the look out for other males that I might want to inherit some father figure role models from. Peter Yarrow is so highly respected (by me and others I'm sure) in that regard.

Speaking of Peter, Paul and Mary, I have a wonderful image of Noel "Paul" Stooky walking up 2nd Ave., part of the Rally march heading toward Central Park. Peter Yarrow's son is clearly shown in my shot with arm in a sling. I'm sure his arm is all better now!

Those years were the highlight of my career as a Photographer. I was already producing V.A.R.I.O.U.S. Media Ink: The Visionary Artists Showcase and Networking Events. The next year, in 1983, V.A.R.I.O.U.S. hit over 200 members who together build the first prototype Creativity Cafe at FutureWorld Expo at the LA Convention Center.
Thanks for keeping in touch. Well, at least one of those "seasonal" special events applies. Its Been A Long Time Since My Sister Called speaking of fathers. I am a bit closer to her, than I am to her husband. That's why this photo is dedicated to my sister's husband (especially since he not I has continued our blood line) who is at the opposite end of the creative spectrum compared to my copious creativity:

If I am a father at all, its because of my giving life to my images, music and dreams... productions designed for peoples enjoyment and edutainment.

I walked off during the basketball movie to make this photo. The shutter was open 3 minutes at f3.5 with ASA 1600. When I went back to my blanket, I realized I was missing my cellphone. I laid all my stuff out on one of the concession tables and told a gal nearby what I was looking for (as well as my multicolor lighted yoyo. She told me someone turned in the phone! What a relief. I had dreams of retracing every step.

I was on my way back to my car when I realized I was missing my yoyo. I didn't find it, but did discover my favorite long sleeve shirt on the ground that I'd unknowingly dropped! That was a lucky find. I never did find the yoyo but I have my phone and shirt both of which would be damaging to have lost. I can always get another yo yo.
Thanks for keeping in touch. We love feedback. Articles copyright 2007 by Peter Rosen
