Now-a-days, money is tight and everybody is looking for a second income. They search everywhere, second jobs, mowing lawns, selling stuff on ebay, etc. Then there are the people with aspirations, the ones who want to never work again. So they set out to open their own business, only to find out that in order for a small business to thrive and make money you need marketing. They then spend all their time into advertising and end of going bankrupt. There are other ways to earn money that doesnt take as much time, nor much of an investment, and if done right are very, very profitable.

I'm talking Multi-Level Marketing.

Yes, I said it. The phrase everybody is scared of. "They are nothing but scams, ALL OF THEM!" "99% of people fail!" We have all heard them. Well I am here to say that not all MLM companies are bad. Sure there are a few set up not in favor of the new-comer, but is that not the case with most major businesses? I'm being serious, if this wasn't the case, would such a phenomenon be so widely used by online marketers?

You may know a ton of people within your close-nit groups of friends, but your real money will be made online. Writing articles, creating blogs, researching, advertising, etc. You will need traffic to these items in order for you to convert those leads! Which leads me to my next point...

Traffic!

There are many, many, MANY sites who will tell you, "If you buy this ebook, you will be getting traffic overnight!" It is not that simple, at all! They will just use those ebooks to sell you MORE ebooks. Listen, to get consistent traffic to your website or blog, it is a mix of advertising, writing, reviewing, creating email lists, and social networking. There are tons and tons of articles here on Ezine that will tell you the correct ways of doing this so I won't go into too much detail but I will say that TWITTER is the easiest way of getting a general class of traffic for you, but I would not rely TOO heavily on twitter as most of the people are not on there for help, or buying, but to communicate and stay up to date with things. Traffic will come in time, just be patient and consistent.

I am not saying tools as in ebooks and advertising, although they do help.. More along the lines of mentors, gurus, etc. I would suggest joining a forum, or another website such as The University of Internet Science, as they will have members there that can walk you through the set-up and get you on your way to making money. Plus forums will have people reviewing MLM companies and you will be able to see which companies are for you and which aren't. etc.

The hard part of MLM isn't as much the scams as it is cutting through the start-up barrier. Once through that first wall, its pretty much a straight shot!
