We need to appreciate Kenneth Kaunda more

"People easily forget and ignore a persons hard work, but you can never erase the past he created for the present you are living in"

Its been bothering me for a while now

Some people wonder why there free!!!

Why they have parties so strong that they can have freedom to vote for a president they want,

Some have forgotten the years spent in exile, to live among fellow Africans to be free.,

Not just a home away from home,

but a home and a family they can depend on,

a family they can be defended by the evils of a struggle for freedom,

I think some have forgotten, and many walk over the pain the struggles of our hero KK,

A man who risked everything for the love of helping people to be free,

Even the only family he called family "Zambia" people,

He risked his peoples love, to let others be free,

"why do you think food prices rose in the 80's in Zambia?

All borders where closed, all colonialist countries around us did not let Zambia export or use the rail way system out side its borders.

This is the price for the struggle of freedom,

How many leaders of today lived in Mtendere teaching, or in Lilanda with fellow Zambians?

Building a government of their own,

Building a future together for Africa to be Free,

Super K believes that "peace is humanity's most pressing priority",

Therefore the "people of Zambia must endure and continued to accept refugees from their neighbors",

I guess that's the price we pay for freedom.

and helping others be free.

But a thank you and recognition to the real people on the ground who worked hard would have been nice,

not licking leaders butt who don't understand or know what happened in the fight for freedom.

A great thanks to these freedom fighters:

Simon Kapwepwe,

Jomo Kenyatta,

Samora Machel,

Patrice Lumumba

Steve Biko,

Desmond Tutu,

Josina Machel,

Julius Nyerere,

Kwame Nkrumah,

Agostinho Neto,

Robert Mugabe (even if he has messed up, we cannot erase what he did too)

Che Guevara (the work he did in Congo DRC)

Remember: "People easily forget and ignore a persons hard work, but you can never erase the past he created for the present you are living in"

I am truly hurt today as a Zambian

Thoughts (Poem 2012)

2012-08-22T19:07:00.000-07:00

I haven't done one of these in awhile, but the clashes in Kenya makes me wonder:

Thoughts
4:00am 23/08/2012

What defines traditions, language and what you see?
Who decides the thoughts you make about people?
The perception to hurt, kill and harm women and children?
Who teaches you to hate? Why do you fight against one another?

It still puzzles me every day,
To see people killing each other,
I hate the African mind post independence,
I hate the African mind post slavery,
I hate the African Mind when it come unity,
I hate this shit called Xenophobia and ethnic clashes,

is Africa really a better place???

I hate these African politicians,
I hate these young African rappers, who want to be GANGSTER,
I hate these innocent girls that want to call themselves BITCHES,
I hate them ALL!!!
Who do you think you are?
I hate the fact that you are a FREE African!!!
Because you are an ignorant AFRICAN!!!

I love Patrice Lumumba,
I love Steven Bantu,
I love the mind that wants to bring people together,
I love young entrepreneurs struggling to bring this continent up,
I love the women breaking stones on the side of the road, just to make money,
I love the women who wake up early and go get their hustle on and feed their kids,

So it makes me wonder sometimes,

I wonder what makes a Kenyan hate a fellow Kenyan,
I wonder what makes a Sudanese hate a fellow Sudanese
I wonder what makes a Zambian hate a Congolese,
I wonder what Makes a South African hate foreigners,
I wonder what makes you see the world the way you see it,
I wonder what makes an African hate an African,
I wonder what morals make the woman you are!
I wonder what morals make the man you are!!!

But are you really a Woman? A Man? A Leader?

Do you deserve to live the life you living?
Do you deserve to be treated with respect?
Do you deserve the pain, sweat, and death people faced for you to be free?

But most importantly,

Do you deserve to be called an African?
You Decide...

Help 30 local Zambian women create their own business

2011-11-28T12:02:00.000-08:00

Its been awhile since i blogged, I've been overwhelmed with work lately.

Cant seem to find time to seat down and really chill.

A couple of days ago, I was doing some research on sustainable development which is part of my dissertation and I stumbled on something very inspiring. Imagine Zambia is partnering with 30 local women in Zambia to help them train and get the skills needed to propagate, plant, crop manage, harvest and process Moringa.

The purpose of this project according to Imagine Rural Development Initiative (IRDI) is to "empower local Zambians through the sustainable production of moringa, an affordable and highly-nourishing superfood, to fight malnutrition, improve health and eradicate poverty."

I believe we can create a better world while being sustainable, and empowering these women will not only help them reduce poverty but it will teach the community and next generation about sustainable living while utilizing the the land for their benefit.

I think this is a good initiative and deserves to be backed.

Common - Blue Sky

2011-11-01T15:51:00.000-07:00

Every time I hear Common I get inspired to do great things.

This is what Hip hop is about.

Hip-hop is a culture about changing things and self expression.

I believe we are so lost with money, cars and girls in our songs that we forget the struggle.

We forget to inspire the new generation, teach them the values for success.

I wont preach much, but this track by common says it all

"It all started with a dream, I wanted to be Run D.M.C"

Lyrics

[Intro]
Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us (x4)
(Listen) Why you had to hide away for (x4)

[Verse 1: Common]
Aston Martin king, Luther with dreams
The young Denzel the way I move through scenes
I’m like a preacher that once was a fiend
A story of change that came with wings
Pretty as the skyline, the sky is my eye line
Son of the most so from up high I shine
Suited in Prada, stay mellow like LaLa
Young fresh with dollars, ladies go gaga
I’m the cum lauda, top of the class
Black Wall Street so my stock will never crash
Given what I ask, pure religion and cash
From the windows that open, I’m raising my glass
Day light beams, night light schemes
This is my Inception, I’m writing my dreams
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]
Oh-oooh-oh, in the sky we’ll find the light
Oh-oooh-oh, ain’t too high we’ll shine at night
Now we in the skies, blue skies
And we going higher, last night

[Verse 2: Common]
It all started with a dream, I wanted to be Run D.M.C
The Lord put the blessing upon the MC
O to the M, dreams were spoken to him
That’s when I knew my flows would overflow to the rim
Open my eyes, yes sir this is what I’m made for
To go hard in the paint like D. Wade or
D. Rose, from the same streets that we rose
International heroes at world premo’s
Red carpet, imagine taking pictures with the president
Told him for health care, my music is the medicine
My name holds weight, I am never hesitant
Different state resident, this is hood elegance
SLS classic, pursuing my passion
Known for Fashion, now I’m Oscar party crashing
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]

[Verse 3: Common]
Silhouettes of dreams that we had huh
Even now it don’t seem so bad ma
Close my eyes to see things in front of me
I’m gone now, imagine what I’m gonna be
30 to worthy, now I’m all worldly
My broad up in Paris, looking all purrty
Immortal view of a star doing what I’m born to do
I see the blue sky, say the Lord’s coming through

[Hook]

[Outro]
I had these dreams in my head of an endless sphere
I could see it from my window
Wouldn’t take that long to get me there
Keep running til’I can’t go
Remember the beautiful things that life could give me
Crazy how I’m the one
Could’ve been anywhere, but I’m sitting in the air
With the wolves up staring at the sun
Ohh, in the sky we’ll find the light
Ohh, ain’t too high we’ll shine at night
No we in the skies, blue skies
And we going higher, last night

Samora Moisés Machel

2011-10-19T03:07:00.000-07:00

Samora Moisés Machel
(September 29, 1933 – October 19, 1986)

Samora Moisés Machel was a Mozambican military commander, revolutionary socialist leader and eventual President of Mozambique.

He died in a plane crash, he was coming from an international meeting in Lusaka, Zambia heading back home to Mozambique when his plane crashed in the Lebombo Mountains, near Mbuzini, South-Africa.

His one of my greatest inspiration. I had to post some pictures to celebrate his life and contribution to the African Freedom.

From left to right:

Sam Nujoma, Samora Machel with Kenneth Kaunda and Mugabe

1980: African Head of states at a conference in Lusaka, Zambia.

From left to right:

Sam Nujoma, Kenneth Kaunda, Samora Machel, Julius NyerereRobert Mugabe, José E. dos Santos

Samora Machel with Graca Machel

This is an amazing song dedicated to Samora Machel by a Zambian band, it talks about how Mozambique and other African countries miss Samora Machel. This just shows that Samora Machel was not only recognized as a fredoom fighter and hero for Mozambique but for the whole of Africa. His death affected alot of people in Africa, especially in southern Africa.

MAMA

2011-10-06T13:56:00.000-07:00

I wrote this poem in 2003, its one of my favorites.

Thought of sharing it with you.

Mama

A thousand years ago

African women where our only priority

Now its time to worship our fallen goddesses

Our African mothers

The first days you gave us sight

The first days you kept us warm

The first days you gave us food to nourish

Mama in all these days you gave us love

I am happy that I am your son

Mama, throughout history

You suffered life of slavery

You got killed, enslaved in this continent

You cried for your children and husbands

Mama my African sovereign

You are every child’s dream

When I am unwell you there to make me better

You were always there through our emotions in any weather

Mama, our spiritual inspiration

You fought wars for our liberation

Look at us now we are a free generation

Although missing our motherly light

What else would a son need?

I love you like an inestimable gift

You are the queen of our souls

African mother is beauty, culture and unconditional love

I love you African mother

The priority of all desires
