I made a new blog recently. It isn't really related to this blog though. It's a blog that I post a new joke everyday. Mostly I'm just trying to get traffic; once I have more traffic, I can direct it to this blog, cuz this blog gets under 10 views a day...

New Layout!

I was tired of how my blog looked... there was way too much empty space on each side, and I was forced to shrink my YouTube videos so that they would fit.

I decided to try something new- I think it was called "template designer" or something, and as you can see, everything is much better!

I will soon restore the sizes of the videos, and add new pages (I didn't even know I could have other pages... wow).

Anyway, enjoy the new layout!

It's been a pretty long time since I posted anything on my blog... I haven't been paying it much attention lately.

I think I've said this before, but I will try to post more to my blog... maybe a few things each week.

Anyway, I'm making a new lens, and it will be about "How I Got To Who I Am", but the full story. I already have grade 9 done, and part of grade 10. I'll post it here when it's published.

Black History Introductory Month: How To Get It Started

in this video i give a few suggestions on how to educate people for this Black History Introductory Month.

the key:
1. make it simple and easy to understand
2. make it thought provoking

if you agree with what i'm saying in this or my other Black History Introductory Month video, PLEASE share the video with others.

if we are supposed to be conscious people, then we need to be aware of what we are saying... and by calling February "Black History Month", we are limiting Black History... OUR HISTORY... to one month (shortest month of the year too...)

that is why we must refer to February as "Black History INTRODUCTORY Month", meaning this is only the beginning, and we will go deeper throughout the year.

right now im working on a project in school while also putting together material that will be used for the school's Black History Month... that means that im pretty busy right now, so i won't be posting stuff to my blog as often as i want to...

This is the first day of 2010, so i didn't want to miss out and forget to post something on my blog.

My new-years resolution is to post stuff to my blog more often, and make more videos for my YouTube channel.

I have already thought of one (but I don't want to spoil the surprise). All I will say is that I came up with a great way to get more subscribers (actually works too), and I will make a video about it in about a month... I'm gathering proof.

As for the videos already on my channel, I am adding annotations to any that are related, so that people can quickly get from part one, to part two without having to search through the "related video" section. For an example, see the video I put in my previous post... it should have two buttons at the bottom... red arrow to view previous part, green arrow to view next part.

I guess that's about all I have to say right now... so enjoy the new decade.

i have realized that whenever i upload a large number of videos at one time, since they are usually all parts that make up a whole item, the first part in the series gets a large number of views, while the other videos get very little.

i will now try releasing the video parts gradually (a few each day), in the hopes of getting more views for each part.

the video above is part 1 of 7 of the Black Power speech given by Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Toure) in 1966. i will upload a few more parts tomorrow.

How I Got To Who I Am

I will soon make a video that will describe all the significant events that have lead to the creation of who I am today. In this post, I will briefly outline those events.

So far, I have made an introduction video that deals with my three characteristics that keep changing: my hair, my music preference, and my thoughts on life.

Grade 9

had a medium sized afro
i am mixed (Jamaican/"canadian"). nowadays, everyone wants to be "Black", and since i have a light complexion, i decided to try t0 be as "Black" as i could be (ie. got Phat Farm shoes, Ecco shirts, other brand name items; listened to a lot of rap...). basically tried to compensate for my lack of colour.

i got cornrows

Grade 10

wanted to start over so i got a short hair cut

"borrowed" some CDs from my sister (since she had recent rap CDs, and i was still wanting to be as "Black" as possible). out of about ten CDs, one was Bob Marley (Gold Collection), and one was Damian Marley (Welcome to Jamrock- which i recognized from the radio).

at the time, i had no idea who Bob Marley was and thought he and Damian were brothers (same last name and the picture of Bob on the album made it look like they were around same age).

found out who Bob Marley was and started listening to Reggae (luckily my father had Raggae CDs). listened to less rap.

started learning about Rastafari, Black History, and Jamaican CULTURE.

noticed that my school wasn't doing anything about Black History Month, and caused a stir (even though i had nothing to offer because i knew very little)

became philosophical and started learning about Rastafari (from music + internet) Buddhism (from internet), and christianity (from Black Hebrew Israelites on YouTube)

began questioning things

Grade 11

grew dreadlocks (over the summer)

wanted to move away from this continent and live on an uninhabited island (wanted to live as natural a life as I could)

questioned many things- mostly reality, but also things that people usually do without asking "why"

stopped standing for O' Canada because I don't acknowledge canada (or amerikkka) as a country, but rather European colonies, because this land belongs to the Natives

read The Autobiography Of Malcolm X, and started to really learn about Black History

learned about Islam from various sources

Grade 12 (current year)

still have dreadlocks

still don't stand for the national anthem

after learning about (and partially trying out) different religions, I am reverting back to Rastafari

questioning the whole idea of school

“Afrika” vs. “Africa”

“In the spelling Afrika, a ‘k’ is used rather than a ‘c’ because for many activists the “k” represents an acknowledgment that ‘Africa’ is not the true name of that vast continent. When one speaks of Afrika, they’re bringing an Afrikan-centered view to the meaning. Therefore, the Afrika spelled with a ‘k’ represents a redefined and potentially different Afrika, and also it symbolizes a coming back together of Afrikan people worldwide. Let it be understood that when one speaks of Afrika, and when most whites think of ‘Africa’, they are coming from two different worldviews. One view supports the Afrikan ethos, while the other view supports the European ethos.”
