There are things that should never have been or never should be privatized.

1. The Phone Company

2. Libraries

3. Postal Service

4. Police/Fire/EMS

5. Courts

6. Prisons

7. Schools

8. Healthcare/Hospitals

9. Banks

10. College/Vocational Tuition

11. DMV/Socials Services/Roads/Bridges/Tunnels/Tolls

12. USDA/FDA

13. The Military

14. The Lottery

Privatizing these things invites corruption, greed, dissolution of those very services once some company like Bain Capital decides it worth more dismantled. Privatization creates LESS jobs, lower pay, no benefits or retirement. Some of these companies hire temp employees so they can avoid having to pay UI/SS/disability and other worker protection programs.

Instead of privatizing, why aren't we looking at what other countries do? Like Norway, the inmates work the farm and they have to cook, clean, do their own laundry, etc, the inmates learn how to work together and how to manage on their own for when they get out.

Why aren't prisons being turned into vocational schools? Why aren't these guys learning a trade while they are locked up for five to eight years? How the hell are they supposed to be contributing members of society once we boot them out if they have no marketable skills and aren't eligible for food stamps and housing because they were locked up?

We just keep perpetuating this set people up for failure ideal, the fend for yourself model.

It isn't working.

If it was, you'd be feeling safer, not arguing that we should privatize and build more prisons.

I cut off an old friend because I have not the words
to talk about the things that made me decide that I could not speak or interact with him.
I tried several times, but I think people know when you want to have a heavy conversation, and that conversation may not be something they are ready to hear.
After these attempts there was a hurricane and other things were far more pressing than sorting out someone else's mood or schedule.
And now we are seven moths out from the thing that set me off, from the thing that broke my trust.
And I don't know if it's irreparable or salvageable.
All I know is that it is not yours to control.

BSN? No, I have a BA and RN.

Something that is seriously pissing me off these days is that nursing has become ridiculous with the BSN requirement to get into an MSN program. One would think that someone having a bachelors in anything plus their RN would be good enough for them as that person has 6 years of schooling under their belt vs the straight BSN candidate who only has 4. Additionally, the BA /BS person has a more diverse education and brings fresh ideas and thoughts to the problem solving that nurses do on a daily basis. The BA/BS candidate has a broader wealth of knowledge and resources that the BSN candidate may not have even considered based on their narrow educational focus.
Back in the 80's medical schools had this exact provlem as only science majors were applying and being great at science may not make you the best person for bedside manner and they began to try recruiting people with broader backgrounds.

There are so many of us with bachelors NOT in nursing who would make excellent NPs, and yet we are being penalized and forced to postpone the pursuit of advanced degrees because nursing is forcing us to spend our valuable time and money taking classes that are redundant busywork. The shortest program for someone like me is still TWO years of undergrad classes. In two years I could have my MSN if you would just let me in.

A few schools realize this and take us.

My neighbor, Larry, passed away last night.
He used to say "You're doin' a good job, Manda" as he supervised my window boxes and garden planters.
When he saw Phil and I walking down the street to or from the lot, he'd say, "Here comes the happy couple" or "There go the newlyweds."
He was the mayor of our street. He knew everyone and always wanted to chat.
I will miss him very much.

I have not crafted, sewn, only done enough laundry to make it to the end of the week, have shredded papers or sorted junk.

I dreamed of Charles Pranio, he made me a white chocolate angel that sat on my finger, told me to "EAT IT' and it was delicious and he made me another and I told him I loved him and had to go back to work and he told me he loved me and that I was an angel and I said "I'll see you soon" and he said "You'll see me later".
