Hatred aimed at the Duggars has been bugging me for a long time, and I’m not the first person to come to the Duggars defense.

If you don’t know who the Duggars are, they’re a family with their own reality TV show. What makes this particular family special is the husband and wife have a very large family. They just announced they’re pregnant with baby #19.

The hatred this has inspired is staggering. There are Duggars hate groups on Facebook and any article published about the family incites endless messages of hate about them. Crude satirical “motivation” posters have been created, one in particular shows a photo of the family with a sophomoric caption you don’t want your children to repeat.

If you’ve seen their TV show, it probably isn’t a surprise why there is hatred aimed at the family, especially from the left-mongers who makes it a point to hate anything that differs from their agenda.

The Duggars are a white, Christian, humble, self-sufficient family. The women and girls wear dresses and skirts, have long hair, and manage the household. The men run their family business. That’s a recipe for leftist hate, no holds barred.

Critics say that the Duggars are not being fair to the kids nor to the environment by having such a large family.

What a bunch of BS. The article that I linked to above on The Powers That Be said it best:

In reality, the left’s abhorrence of the Duggars has nothing to do with overpopulation worries in the global and environmental sense — that’s just the convenient excuse. The truth is that the Duggars are a massive culmination of everything the left can’t stand: Self-sufficient, vehemently pro-life, and proud and unapologetic Christians who aren’t in the market for a nanny-state — an abject threat to the “progressive” visions for America if there ever was one.

And not being fair to the kids? What’s with this trend that kids shouldn’t have responsibilities? That it somehow robs them of their childhood?

Look at where that mentality gets us. We’re a nation full of adults with child-like notions. We didn’t learn how to behave like adults, so we don’t know how to be adults. We run up debt to buy all the toys we want. We act on every whim and impulse regardless of the consequences, then we want the government to save us from the consequences when they arise!

All the while we’re all too ready to condemn a family that lives within high moral, ethical, and social standards while celebrating those who do not. Imagine how the left would celebrate a Duggar abortion, or God forbid, a miscarriage.

My message to the Duggar-hating legion: Your envy is showing. Sure, you don’t want to ever have more than two kids if any at all, out of respect for the “environment” but we know that’s not the real issue. You want to see the Duggars fret. You want to see them not be able to suffice without gov’t help, which is why you don’t slam young unmarried mothers with hordes of children living off gov’t cheese. Women of that mold support your theory that your politics are needed.

People like the Duggars, who have traditional marriages and roles, grate on your dogma. They can’t possibly be happy! They can’t possibly be making on their own! Oh my, how their children must suffer.

The only way you can make yourself feel better about their success is to congregate and share in your hatred and envy. How sad.

I’m taking a hiatus for a while that’s going to leave me out of the reaches of technology, which includes The Apostle of the Turtle. Until I return, enjoy this:
