I can barely reach the overhead poles when I’m wearing flats (which I usually am), so I was happy when someone tapped me on the shoulder this morning and gave me a place by the vertical pole near the door. This someone turned out to be a large man with dark sunglasses and a blinged out watch, who proceeded to move closer to me as the train crawled through two stops due to ‘train traffic ahead of us.’ At one point, I assume (and hope) he got warm, and unzipped his jacket. No matter how much I adjusted, pointed my engagement ring in his direction, or focused on the Bejeweled game on my iPod, this guy just kept getting closer.

There was a man sitting down right in front of me, and let me tell you, I appreciated him. He kept glancing up at the creeper and rolling his eyes, letting me know that I wasn’t imagining the weirdness going on. At one point, he loudly said, “Do you want to sit down?” I said no because the train had finally started moving again. He asked if I was sure, and I was, but I was certainly grateful for the offer.

Thank you Man on the Subway for keeping an eye on the creeper for me!

Who are you grateful for today?
