We uploaded code to the Arduino, and only plugged in the power cord and it sent a SMS to a phone. From the tut on Libelium's website we were led to think that you need to leave the processor out of the Arduino board because of the processor on the Libelium shield. However since I am new at this, I didn't realize till now that is not the case! So we finally put the processor in the shield and voila! The first time I ran it, it did not work. So I checked all of my connections and ran it again and it finished successfully. I used speaker wire that I had and used that to connect through the small hole on the board and to the ground connection of the digital side of the board. I ran into a really thick wall that was difficult to get over. So I have been trying to get the shield to send an SMS message from the Cutecom interface but I haven't been successful. So I have been trying to flash the shield with the actual code that is available on the tut from </span><a href="http://www.libelium.org/squidbee/index.php?title=New_GPRS_module_for_Arduino_(Hilo_-_Sagem)"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;">Libelium</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;">. So I have trying to figure out how to flash the board with out any success as previously stated. What the tut from Lubelium does not explain is that the ATMEGA chip needs to be in the Arduino board with the shield on top. I did try this one time before but I either had a bad board or chip (Arduino) but didn't realize it. Luckily we have extra boards hanging around. I did also had the board attached to a capacitor (uf 220) with out any power attached.
