Fortune Teller Art Deco Lamp

When I saw this rare lamp, I had to nab it. By rare, I don’t necessarily mean extremely valuable – just a rare find. I have not seen any other instances of this lamp anywhere.

The architectural elements in the lamp seems to be a nod to Mughal architecture of which the Taj Mahal is the most famous example. Apparently, there was an Orientalism craze in the early 20th century and thus it is not hard to find lamps which incorporate Middle Eastern themes such as this one.

The female figure seems to represent a fortune teller with her crystal ball.

Frankart Lamp CP801

My latest find is this circa 1920s Frankart Lamp, model number CP801. I’m happy that the original paint is largely there and hasn’t been painted over. It is unclear to me at the moment whether the shade is original or a replacement, but it does appear to be a period shade.

Pierre Le Faguays Diana Huntress Bronze

I recently acquired this Pierre Le Faguays Bronze statue which is usually referred to as a depiction of Diana, the Huntress. It is signed “Le Faguays” in one location and another has the foundry mark: “Susse Frs Edtrs Paris”.

It is made of bronze with a marble base. The best feature of this particular bronze is the original patination that remains intact. It has a yellowish tinge with rust accents.

Mayan Statue Deco Lamp

I’ve not run across one of these Deco Itzamatul Mayan figural lamps before. Itzamatul is an area of ruins in Izamal, Mexico, which was an important Pre-Columbian Mayan civilization. There is a depiction of a king or some sort of leadership figure in a seated, cross-legged position. The base below him reads, “Itzamatul”. The lamp is 15″ high. The shade has clear and pink/red striations. The alabaster-style base is an artificial bakelite-like material. The shade is suspended by an arm that has a ball/socket that can be moved in any direction. I am currently selling this lamp on Ebay, or if you happen upon this lamp some time later, you can inquire if it is still available.
