It is said that the real King Arthur rallied his soldiers here and a cup which was thought to be The Holy Grail was found, it was later discovered it was only a Roman Wine Goblet.

First of a series of Pen and Ink/Watercolour illustrations from Hawkstone Park/Follies in Shropshire. The area is full of Arthurian Mythology.
I painted this before in my sketchbook, but this is a more detailed and accurate colored version of the overhang, although when scanned some of the more subtle washes were bleached out.

Arthur C Clarke Father of the communication Satellite, no Satellites no mobile phones. He was also famous for writing 2001 a Space Odyssey which was made into an iconic film by Stanley Kubrick.
Painted in Corel Painter with Graphics Tablet.

Pen and Ink wash in my Moleskine. I then scanned this into Photoshop5 and used a Soft Layer and a Mulitply layer to add a colour wash of greens and blues, using a Wacom Tablet and Pen, Soft Bristle Brush selected.

"I miss my family and country"

This person must be about a foot taller than me. I'm over 6 foot and I look up to him so however tall he is it's very tall! I have seen him around the place a lot and I think he is Polish or from around that region. Anyway he seems a gentle person and I had to draw him. Have to admit I drew the hand holding the cigarette later as I had a hard time getting it to look right!

I painted this from photos I took on the day I painted Plein Air, didn't have time to paint everything I wanted but was looking for interesting plays of light on the landscape to study. Watercolor and Gouache for the highlights on the rocks etc..

I usually shy away from landscapes and watercolors, but today I thought what the hell lets have another stab. So armed with my small watercolor box, one brush (wish I had picked up more) and some tissue I gave it another go. When I started it the rain clouds were looming and suddenly a buzz of people appeared behind me which was a little off putting but just tried to block them out and focus on the study.The sore backside I ended up with from sitting on the rock was worth it in the end for this Plein Air.

Whilst I am enjoying using Marker pens as they are helping me not to be so fussy and concentrate on getting down shapes and tones quickly I have noticed they run out very quickly!
