Korra

2012-06-12T12:13:00.001-06:00

Here's Korra! She was pretty fun to draw, and I hope you like it!

Also, some cool news, I'm getting married in 11 days! So you guys might not hear much of me for a few weeks after that happens. Expect more Korra stuff after, though!

Next up is Mako!

Legend of Korra- Bolin

2012-06-01T00:42:00.001-06:00

So, recently I decided I wanted to draw the characters of the new show The Legend of Korra. I've been a huge fan of Avatar: the Last Airbender for a long time, and this show is pretty cool too. So, here's part 1 of my contribution to this show! I think it's really fun to draw fan art. It's a good way for my to just kind of relax and just draw stuff! It's also fun to twist things into your own style. Well, I hope you enjoy.

Also, I didn't really do an Illustration Friday this week. The topic was faded. So, Bolin earthbended the rock so hard, it faded into the distance. Boom. There ya go. I'm sorry, I'll do better next week!

Up next is Korra!

Illustration Friday- Sight

2012-05-24T21:30:00.001-06:00

Otherwise known as 'A Tribute to Little Me'. The first thing I thought of when I saw this topic was myself as a 7 year old. I had the most awesome huge red glasses. They were actually multicolored, but mostly red. I also had the coolest overalls. I was a cool kid. But seriously, I was the ugliest/cutest kid. Anyway, enjoy!

Illustration Friday- Hitched

2012-05-08T17:51:00.001-06:00

So as many of you probably already know, I'm getting married in less than 7 weeks! Yay! So what better prompt that hitched? So for this prompt, I obviously decided to draw my fiance and I. I couldn't draw what my dress actually looks like, because then my fiance would see it and it would ruin the surprise. And that would be no good, so I drew myself in a different one instead.

I hope you like it! Enjoy!

Illustration Friday- Jump

2012-05-02T15:29:00.001-06:00

So, since it's Spring/Summer and I have a bit more free time(kind of), I've decided to keep myself a little more busy by participating in Illustration Friday. The theme for this one was 'jump', so I went with this. Enjoy!

Book Cover

2012-04-17T00:48:00.004-06:00

I cropped the top of this one because it isn't really a book cover, so there's no title to put in there. Below is the Book Cover version.

This one is meant to be a book cover, which was the assignment. That's why the top is empty. That's where the title would go if it had one, haha. This was my final assignment for my digital painting class. I've never drawn a wolf before, so that was interesting. I had a really fun time painting the girl. Her hair and face paint was really fun to paint. Her fur was pretty cool, too. Enjoy!

Magic Fish

2012-04-16T14:00:00.000-06:00

This was an illustration I did for my Digital Painting class. I don't really have much to say about this, so enjoy!

The Best of the Sketchbook

2012-04-11T19:51:00.002-06:00

These are all of the sketches I put together to submit to the BFA program. Enjoy!

Figures Galore!

2012-04-09T14:16:00.003-06:00

I'm mostly posting these to show my professors in case my computer dies, haha. I don't think I've ever posted any of my figure drawings, so here's my first batch! These are all a little older. The conte is from my firs class back in Winter 2011, and the ones in pencil are from last semester, Fall 2011.

Quick gesture. I think this one was for 3-5 minutes

7-10 minute gesture things

Red Lips

2012-03-05T22:46:00.000-07:00

I've noticed that I paint portraits when I want to just paint stuff without thinking much into it. So here's another portrait, haha. This is based off of this sketch I did in my sketchbook:

It looks a little bit different because I painted directly over it and didn't look at the original sketch. Anywho, here you go. Enjoy!

Babies Understand Dog Speak

2012-03-01T18:50:00.002-07:00

So, this is one of those crazy new real painting that I've been doing a lot of lately. This was done for my Illustration 1 class this week. Our assignment was to do an illustration for an article heading. The article I chose was 'Babies Understand Dog Speak'. So this is what I came up with, haha. My teacher said he really liked it which was nice to hear. It's not perfect, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of gouache and painting in general which makes me feel ultra cool. Also, the dog looks kind of like Chewbacca by accident.

Enjoy!

Background Painting

2012-02-27T20:43:00.003-07:00

My most recent assignment for my digital illustration class was to paint a background for an animated movie, or just any movie, really. Since I hate painting/drawing extreme realism (except for people, kinda) , my obvious choice was to do paint a background with more of a stylized feel to it. Since I avoid drawing backgrounds at all costs, I had a hard time starting this one. Eventually, I got around to it. And here it is!

For the assignment, we had to do different layers for the foreground, mid ground, and background. I had four layers....in case you were wondering. So yeah, this is what I made. It could still use a little bit of work. Some areas are still a little messy and stuff, but oh well. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think. You're the best.

Oh, I forgot to tell you guys, I got engaged on the 9th of February! Crazy stuff! Well, I'm super stoked to get married to my bestest friend, so that's pretty cool. Maybe I'll do a post about how he asked me so I don't have to tell the story a million times. We'll see.

Doll Design

2012-02-06T09:37:00.001-07:00

So, this assignment was done for my digital illustration class. Our assignment was to design a toy of some sort and draw it from 3 different angles. Since I love character design, I decided to go for that sort of approach and design a doll. It was a little tricky getting all three of the angles to look the same, but I think I did a pretty good job for my first turn-around sort of thing. Enjoy!

Hey Look, It's Me!

2012-01-30T21:25:00.001-07:00

So, I decided to try to draw a self-portrait. I found out it's pretty difficult to pick features in yourself that are distinguishable. I think I did a pretty decent job. What do you think?

Pinocchio Concept Art

2012-01-25T22:56:00.000-07:00

I just realized that I posted some of the stuff for my Pinocchio concept art thing, but I didn't post all of it. So in this post, I will show you all of the things I did in my concept art class with Jake Parker. Some of them could still use a little touching up, but I'm pretty proud of what I did this semester! Except for the couple of things I didn't post here from the class. But you don't need to know about that. Anyway, enjoy!

Textures are Cool

2012-01-24T23:04:00.000-07:00

For my Digital Illustration class with Justin Kunz, we started off by painting some textures. When I heard the assignment, I was worried that it was going to be extremely boring and tedious. To my surprise, it was really fun and I learned a lot. These are what I came up with.

The cool thing about these is that they can be tiled seamlessly. So, basically these things can go on. And on. Forever. Ad ever. So that's cool. Enjoy!

P.S. don't use these without my permission. K thanks.

Merry Christmas!!

2011-12-20T16:26:00.000-07:00

So, I originally drew this for a Christmas art exchange, but I ended up not being able to go :(

Anywho, Christmas is just around the corner, so here is some art for yoooooou. I like hot chocolate and Christmas clothes, so that's what you get. Also it's on a girl.

Merry Christmas!!

Fish Bowl Progress

2011-12-03T13:04:00.000-07:00

So I thought it might be fun just to see a few of the steps it took to make this illustration. So here you go! Enjoy!

This first one is the original sketch I doodled on a spare piece of paper. It was probably during something important. Oops. Anywho, I doodled it with pen and thought it was pretty cool, so I later proceeded to the next step which was....

Redrawing it in pencil and making it more detailed and stuff! To do this, I scanned the original doodle, enlarged in in photoshop, lightened it, and printed it out a lot larger. Then I carefully penciled the stuff I actually wanted. Then...

I started coloring it! Partyyyyyy. This is where I pick the colors that I want to use and see how they work together. After that, I add the darks and the lights and the shading and whatnot. And you get what I posted yesterday. Yeaaaaaaah!

Well, I hope this was informative or something to somebody. Also, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. I'd love to help you out :]

Fish Bowl

2011-12-02T15:19:00.002-07:00

Based off of a doodle from a month or so ago. I hope you like it!

I'll be posting parts of the process of making this soon, so stay tuned!

Quilt Girl

2011-11-08T22:05:00.001-07:00

I just made this for my mother. She makes and sells really cute and awesome quilts and wanted a logo-type-thing. So I gladly made one for her :]

Now it's time to do school work and studying and blerghfluglzkjhfgagjhc

Braids

2011-10-26T22:16:00.004-06:00

I'm now taking character commissions over on good 'ol deviantArt if you're interested. Check it out!

Commission Info

This was done shortly after Sam Weber came to visit us at BYU. When he looked at my work, he said that I needed to draw people doing more than just standing there.

"Draw some girls braiding each other's hair or something." -Sam Weber

Thanks, Sam Weber. You're seriously super awesome.

Another Redone Thing

2011-10-25T11:42:00.000-06:00

Redid another old drawing. The original is at the beginning of my previous post if you wanna compare.

This took me an hour. The previous version took me....a lot longer than that.

Old Artworks Re-sketched

2011-10-24T18:46:00.001-06:00

If you read my past blog post, you'll know that a few weeks ago I felt like I needed to do something artistic. I decided to re-sketch a bunch of old artwork. Here's most of them that I did. Keep in mind that I did these all under about 5 minutes each, so they obviously aren't perfect or anything. I was mainly focusing on structure and making the characters look more interesting and stylized.

That bunny still sucks really bad, haha.

I drew this old one based on somebody's webcomic a long time ago. I don't remember who's, but there ya go, haha.

This is the original sketch of the one I did a finished digital painting of. Just in case you guys wanted to see it :]

Also, would any of you guys like to see any of these finished up and colored? If so, let me now which one(s), and I might just do them. If you don't, I might just do some anyway for practice, haha.

Pinocchio Character Designs

2011-10-20T20:38:00.003-06:00

I'm taking a concept art class from Jake Parker this semester, and we all just finished our character designs. This is what I came up with:

Just Some Girl Sketches

2011-10-17T21:49:00.002-06:00

From the sketchbook. Enjoy!
