Lindsay & Taylor, the Wedding, St. Croix, part 3

Wow! Where do I start and what do I say to a perfect wedding? The weather, the location, the planning by Cindy Clearwater and her staff at Sun Celebrations, and the loving families - all perfect. It truly was one of the most remarkable and perhaps the most beautiful weddings I have photographed. I will let the photographs speak for the rest. The reception I will cover later. This amazing venue is the Carambola Beach Resort on the north shore of St. Croix.

So just sit back and enjoy this wonderful beach ceremony in the Central Western Atlantic Ocean in the tropics of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Rehearsal, part II, St. Croix, USVI

Lindsay & Taylor's wedding was yesterday and oh what a day! More on their wedding in a few days. With very limited internet connections and cell service added to all of my adventurous behavior on this exotic island, I will eventually get all posted. The local slowness to everything one does here, known to the locals as the Caribbean way of doing things, doesn't help my cause.

Be that as it may, I am up at midnight diligently composing this post as the waves pound the sandy beach only 5 yards from me. A distant cruise ship can be seen as it works its way to St. Thomas, a sister island to St. Croix. I can see the dim flicker of the ocean beacon that marks the shores of St. Thomas on this full moon evening.

Friday night Taylor's parents hosted a wonderful reception at the exclusive Buccaneer Hotel & Golf Course on the Eastern side of St. Croix and just south of Christiansted. All of us traveled there by bus and were entertained by a great jazz ensemble. Cocktails were served on the balcony as the setting sun did its remarkably unbelievable light show over the city of Christiansted. Many great toasts and some stories we laughed so hard at were shared and enjoyed by all. I have picked only a very few of the many party shots to share. Enough said except the Hand Rubbed Spice Filet Mignon was out of this world and Taylor's parents outdid themselves!!!!! What an evening. Can the weekend get any better?

Wedding in Paradise, St. Croix, VI, part 1

As I write this quick story about Lindsay & Taylor's Pier Party Thursday, I am sitting by the beach waiting to begin photographing the girls getting their makeup and hair done for today's beach wedding. The weather is picture perfect as it has been this whole trip, 85 and mostly sunny. Can't seem to stop getting sunburned though, and yet, I know back home in Tennessee, everyone there is overcoming the snow issue.

This 4 day event started with a get together on the Fredericksted Pier for a Pier Party, western side of the small island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. And what a party we all had. The foods were all local flavors as well as the rum saturated drinks! All the families of the Jones from Tennessee and the Jackson's from Alabama converged to the home island of Lindsay & Taylor for a real Southern get together. And what a party everyone had!

One last note before going, the tall people on stilts are called mocko jumbies, a local tradition and a real sight to see. Cindy Clearwater of Sun Celebrations of St. Croix helped Lindsey will all the details, transportations of families and the many events, parties & receptions for this wonderful destination beach wedding.

Sunset at Lindsay & Taylor's Pier Party...

Fun shoot in New Orleans

A few weeks ago when I was in New Orleans on assignment, Dawn, an employee of the company I was shooting for, asked me if I would create some portraits of her. So we scheduled this shoot around her lunch hour and despite the uncontrollable rain, I created some fun images of her. To great really great shots of person, the session doesn't have to be very long, this one lasting only about 30 minutes.

The South's Largest Bridal Show

Yesterday marked another huge bridal show produced by the people at Premier Bride and The Pink Book. Over 1,300 brides were in attendance and was it a big show! This is the largest show in the Southeast and Nashville is very fortunate to have it right here!

I was there too, showing some of my new albums and photographs. I want to thank all the brides that visited my booth and spoke to us. It was a busy day and I am so thankful Mollie, my October bride was there to help greet and guide the brides through all information and albums we had out. I enjoy shows so much and enjoyed speaking to everyone!

Enjoy some of the photographs I shot yesterday of the booth and our guests. I wish I could have photographed more as there were so many people enjoying the albums, but I had to stop and work in a different capacity.

Mollie (back to camera), my October bride, assisting me in talking to many of the brides visiting.

This photograph of Angela's Angela's wedding party jumping on the beach at Del Coronado Island, San Diego, CA was the hit of the show. Everyone stopped by and looked at it! If you haven't seen Angela's San Diego beach wedding, then you must check it out. An awesome event!

These ladies are looking at the hottest new album in my booth! It is a panoramic album measuring 20" length by 8" height before opening. Everyone loved the rich and vivid colors this new album company produced. Stunning book with great cafe' leather binder. A really beautiful book and the size was most exciting to my guests!

Its too cold for an engagement portrait!

so we thought and perhaps it was too cold. We just refused to believe just how cold it was. Tyrce and Santino braved the cold as Stuart and I fought the chills, around 24 degrees, and created some outstanding photographs for Santino and Tryce.

Their wedding is in a few weeks so time was running out. Downtown Franklin was the background as we walked up and down streets seeking fun and colorful backdrops. Next The Factory at Franklin was so much warmer and the photographs there were equally as fun, creative and stunning. Please do enjoy a brief view of Tyrce & Santino's engagement portraits!

A Stunning Bridal Portrait of Marie

Earlier this week I had the great fortune of working with a very talented and charming lady and model, Marie, at a very cool and historic home of friend. Her wedding is three months away and from what we covered at her bridal, I can't wait!

Alice Hendry, wedding planner, was there with us as to help create a stunning portrait of Marie. I really appreciate Alice's attending to detail and she is, unlike most other planners, actually attends and assists at the bridal portraits.

Marie's dress, a St. Pucchi, was one of the finest and most beautiful gowns I have seen. The diamond shaped and sized crystals sewn on the gown were just remarkable. I absolutely fell in love with the asymterical bodice top, very nice flair. The flowers Marie has chosen are from A Village of Flowers located at Hillsboro Village near Vanderbilt on 21st Ave. South.

Key West Florida wedding

Dateline. 12.22.09. Key West, Florida.

I flew down to Key West and met Casey & Brad for their beach wedding. Even though it was cold, windy and overcast, their warmth, happiness and love made for a great wedding in this tropical paradise on Monday Dec. 21. The next day we had even a greater time having fun downtown Key West along Duval St. and then at the beach for a spectacular sunset. At the end of the day, the sun was gone, we trashed the dress in the Atlantic Ocean and said our farewells to the great couple who just started a new life together.

So enjoy Day 2 of Casey & Brad's wedding!

The Parthenon is

such a beautiful building and a wonderful location for portraits. The Parthenon's classical architecture and stately columns provide a really nice setting and the light there is terrific. Danielle and Read already knew this and they wanted their engagement portraits created there. As you know my keen interest and love for architecture and history fits in perfectly for such a spot, and the lighting that day was perfect to create some spectacular photographs for Danielle and Read.

Danielle really, really enjoyed the photography and Read, well, its a guy thing and he's coming around. We were even able to get a couple of smiles out of him before the day was over! They were wonderful to work with and Read was a real trooper hanging in there as we roamed Centennial Park, shooting different scenes and letting them be themselves. I was honored to just be there and admire their love for each other. Wonderful couple, thank you Danielle and Read.

Difficult choice, I had just too many favorites, but here is a small sampling from Danielle and Read's engagement session. So please enjoy!

Now that Crystal and Larry's wedding has taken place, I can reveal some of the photographs we created at Crystal's bridal portrait session. Crystal really loves the War Memorial building and Legislative Plaza and that is where she wanted her bridal portrait to be created. She and her parents really love columns like those at War Memorial and the fountains at Legislative Plaza.

Crystal's very unique and stunning gown, a Priscilla of Boston, from The Bride Room in Green Hills, was perfect for the columns and fountains setting. The gown was adorned with an array of thousands of "crystals" sequins in random order and captured the light and glimmered as the original Athena statue in the Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.

We all had such a great time creating Crystal's portrait. Her parents joined Alice Hendry, wedding planner, and me, and for the next couple of hours we really had a blast photographing Crystal. Crystal really had a great time too and loved wearing her unbelievable Priscilla of Boston gown.
