<description>The ROAR data has been re-imported into the database for the first time in about a year. Sorry it takes so long - this is a bit of a fiddly job to do.

<title>News: Personal ELO style ratings and play counts</title>

      <comments>http://davidramsey.no-ip.info/asl/index.php?newsC=80</comments>
<description>Two quick additions: Firstly a personal play count on the publications and scenario pages showing how many times you've played a particular scenario (thanks Marti).

Secondly, personal ELO ratings; based on your playing records have been estimated using an ELO based formula and are available on the ratings page. These are recalculated regularly so keep recording games to see your rating increase (or decrease) as time goes on...

Thanks

      <title>News: Gun/AFV support</title>
      <link>http://davidramsey.no-ip.info/asl/index.php?newsC=79</link>
      <comments>http://davidramsey.no-ip.info/asl/index.php?newsC=79</comments>
      <description>Hi,

Thanks to John Bertoglio's taxonomy of AFVs and Guns, I've added a simple dropdown to allow users to enter the Guns and AFVs for any given scenario. You can do this by editing the scenario's units, selecting the AFV/Gun from the dropdown and picking the unit in there.

If there are multiple types you can run through the process a few times to add each individual unit, if needed.

You can also search in the advanced search for specific guns/afvs for either the attacker or defender (or either).

Right now, as a proof-of-concept, I only added some for BB Gun at the Baby Parade - to give an idea of what it looks like, but hopefully someone will add some more to the scenarios as we go on.

As always, the archive is only as good as those who take the time to help enter data. If you'd like to contribute something, why not pick a pack, and enter the scenario's Gun/AFV data for any scenarios in there. The more that's added the more useful the search becomes for everyone!

Thanks for everyone's continued support - please let me know if there's a problem or issue with the data or taxonomy (I pruned a lot of possible duplicates, but there are always likely to be missing or duplicated entries that I missed!)

      <title>News: Roar Integration improved!</title>
      <link>http://davidramsey.no-ip.info/asl/index.php?newsC=76</link>
      <comments>http://davidramsey.no-ip.info/asl/index.php?newsC=76</comments>
<description>Fresh from my pretty poor showing at Double One, the London (Chelmsford) ASL tournament, I've added some additional Roar integration to the Archive.

The Roar record can now be linked manually, for those scenarios where the name or scenario ID doesn't match the Archive's ones and this is tallied with our own records to present a quick-glance balance graph on the scenario's home page.

The Roar data can be linked to via the Confirm/Edit/Switch sides options under the ROAR Data section on the scenario home page. Switching sides is useful if the ROAR data has the sides in the opposite order to the Archive's. For reference, the Attacker should be listed first under the ROAR data section. If it's wrong, the balance graph might not look quite right.

Enjoy! Dave

<description>I've added on the 'My Page' section, a quick count of the scenarios by year you've played and fixed the popularity ratings for scenarios. They're still not perfect, primarily because the data between Roar and the archive is matched on exact name - which leads some scenarios to be miscounted, but is better than how it was before, which was on a Soundex algorithm which was producing too many matches.

Thanks,
Dave.
