Liberal group HCAN is trying to convince Senate Democrats Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor that they can vote for government-run health care before they vote against it.
As a new series of RNC videos point out, that tactic has been tried before, and now lives in campaign election infamy.
Note to Senate Democrats: A vote for cloture is a vote for government-run health care.

Earlier this year, Nancy Pelosi announced that “everything is on the table” when it comes to paying the Democrats’ government-run health care experiment. In the bill passed by the House, there are $730 billion in tax increases, including a $460 billion income tax hike.
That huge income tax hike is not likely to pass the Senate, so Majority Leader Harry Reid is back at the table, looking for other taxes to raise instead. And despite double-digit unemployment, he appears ready to offer tax hikes that will kill more jobs.
Reid is floating trial balloons about raising the Medicare payroll tax, either to apply to all income for couples earning over $250,000 per year or, as White House Budget Director Peter Orszag has suggested, apply Medicare taxes to capital gains income. It seems like every day there is a new report pointing out the ineffective and sometimes fraudulent methods used to count jobs “created or saved” by Obama’s $787 Billion “Stimulus” bill. Whether there are pay raises being counted as jobs, or just outright confusion on the parts of those who are tasked with reporting the numbers, The Las Vegas Sun put it best:
Forgive the average citizen if the federal stimulus does not appear to him as transparent as promised.
The federal government says that in Nevada the stimulus has directly created or saved 5,658 jobs. The state itself puts that number at 5,080. Sen. Harry Reid’s office says it’s 6,134.
