How to get Unemployment Insurance when you get Fired

Most employers need to cut cost.
If you were at the bottom of the food chain or you were that employee
that was disliked by the boss. Finally He/She will find any way to get rid of you by saving time and money by simply saying "Your Fired",for any slip up.
I have heard this happening alot in Southern California with the Unemployment rate at 10 percent.

The state of California records 3 month periods of you working. 4x's a year.
Averaging around $1000 a month.
Where does that money go if you don't get it?
That's an extra $3000 that you will never see.

There is 2 ways to get unemployment insurance still:

1. Wrongful termination
2.Discrimination

1.Wrongful Termination- If you felt you were wrongfully terminated for one mistake, or in retaliation.

File the claim still. If its denied then tell them you want to fight it.
They will get you a court date,this is not in criminal,traffic court. This is an employment court. Not as scary when talking to a judge in a big court with the gavel.
Give dates and times of any suspected prior retaliation.

You dont need an attorney. $2000 attorney fee + $3,000 Unemployment = You come out with $1000. Better odds in Las Vegas.

2. Discrimination- Easier to get & same as Wrongful termination but make sure you have all your facts to prove.

These are both hard to prove in court. Read Bridgestone post. This guy actually recorded them but could not be used in court, and just dropped the case.

Truth about Bridgstone/Firestone Tires

I was discriminated, harrased, wrongfully terminated at the Distribution Center in Ontario, California

I recorded Michael Cook and Penelope Nall discriminating/harassing me then notified the Bridgestone / Firestone main office in Nashville. I was terminated 30 min. after I was aksed to sign agreement not to record. They said Bridgestone/Firestone told them to let me go, for their screw up! I received my last check 2 weeks later. Which I was suppose to get then and there. Penelope Nall and Michael Cook were terminated 2 weeks later. Thanx to my attorney Michael Kushner from Newport beach for getting me a small settlement!

Dont do business with this company.

I use to work there for almost 2 years. He would not pay me for my sick days without a doctors note. While other employees didnt need a doctor note. I confronted him about this matter,and he told me " He doesnt care what the handbook says! He makes his own rules!" One employee wasnt even paid for his sick day with a doctors note.

If you work in the warehouse it is so damn cold in the winter and too damn hot in the summer.

I notifed the Corporate office. They HR said they will speak with him. I knew they werent going to do anything. He is the biggest moneymaker of all Myers Industries in the United States.

He got back at me by firing me for telling my friends there was 2 positions open on craigslist and myspace. 2 employees had previously quit.
Arent these community sites? Cant I tell a friend?
My friends are managers and my teachers at school said I should have not been fired.

I filed my case with the EEOC immediatly.

The state granted me Unemployment insurance and he was trying get them to deny me Unemployment Insurance. I had to fight the appeal in court. He did not even show up. Human Resources showed up on his behalf.
They fought for him like my situation with him didnt mean anything. This is suppose to be Human Resources?
I made it be known that we couldnt even show up. I also said Human Resources wasnt even involved.

I won.

I got a letter from the state of California that said I should have not been fired.
I am glam on am no longer with Myers Tire Supply.

I even heard he had a Xmas party at his house and invited everybody from Myers but he didnt invite the workers from the warehouse but thats another story.

Respect for Denise Tyrrell?

Denise Tyrrell was the spokeswoman for the Southern California transit agency named Metrolink. She resigned after federal and Metrolink officials criticized the statement she made the day after an agency commuter train collided with a freight train in Chatworth, California

Tyrrell said that the Metrolink driver/engineer had "made the error" and had not obeyed the traffic signals on the tracks.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

Before facing reporters the day after the catastrophic train collision in Chatsworth, Metrolink spokeswoman Denise Tyrrell called the agency's chief executive to make an unusual request.

"I asked him to allow me to make a statement to rebuild public trust," she recalled, "and I told him we had to be honest and upfront about what happened."

I am not sure what the origin of this women is but it sounds like something they would do to a minority employees.

I am never riding the Metrolink again.
Not because of you human error but because of business ethics.

Were you harrased or discriminated at work?

If you have been harassed, discrimintated, wrongfully terminated at work then you should read this!
The Better Business Bureau and the E.E.O.C. can only do so much.
Why not get these bastards back by affecting this company's present and future customer/customer.

To do this:

Yelp.com-

Yelp lets you add a business and comment on them.
The best thing is Yelp should up right above or below
the companies .com. on Google or Yahoo

Yahoo Answers-

Y.A. lets you ask why they did that to you and puts it right next to their website.
Who cares? Maybe somebody who didnt know about the company. Maybe somebody will answer?

Craiglist-

Craigslist Rant&Rave section is pretty awesome. Not effective as Yelp.
but can be found on the same search page. So Rant away

Flickr- is sometimes effective if you post their logo and tag it. You can also leave a comment.

Review and comment them in everything they show up in. Give em 1 Star! Why not?
