I've decided I am all about convertible bags for traveling from now on. Ms. High Maintenance with 4 suitcases @ 200 lbs this last trip to Asia pissed off everyone who had to load and unload them (best friend's hubby, brother, cousin, housekeepers, etc). So for my next trip, I'm downsizing (by at least half, hey it's an improvement!). Am contemplating this ingenius MEZZO Folding Shopper tote in black natural gloss python from our friend Sang A-- it's large enough by day for my small laptop and folded in half, it's the perfect oversized clutch! Sang A is really in tune with what modern women juggling multiple roles as wife/mother/career girl need cuz she is one herself. Her bags are never fussy-- chicness and simplicity rule, as do functionality. It comes in multiple colors and skins but I prefer the black/white combos-- very sophisticated and will be easy to use while traveling. 12.5" x 9" (folded is 6.25"x9")-- $2,500.00 for the BLACK NATURAL GLOSS PYTHON Here. And $1,800 for the COOL WHITE VINTAGE PATENT LEATHER version.

Well, she kind of succeeded actually! There is way too much going on with this bag. It's like Christian Louboutin's Pillow Medium Softy Satchel and BCBG's Urban Rock Zipper Clutch on steroids. The multiple zippers are headache-inducing; I don't like the contrasting colors and not only does the bag not zip closed, it's wide open on the top. My vote on this one is a slob.

What say you? Snob or Slob?

Guest blog by Liza Powel O'Brien

It was a bit of a Bagsnob reunion in Beverly Hills last Thursday, as Tina and Kelly (fresh back from Asia) and Liza (fresh back from the grocery store) convened at Bottega Veneta on Rodeo to check out the trunk show for Spring 2010. Liza spent much of her time in the dressing room trying to wrestle her way into samples of the chalky silk, Karate-influenced dresses (which were gorgeous, inventive and ingeniously constructed), but from what she could see through cracks in the doors, Tina and Kelly found plenty to add to their ever-growing Bottega wish lists. Of note: An insanely beautiful, bright blue crocodile doctor's bag ($24,000). Made from impeccable skin, the color strikes an ideal balance of electric vibration and aquatic depth. To ground the brightness, the bag is structured, simple, timeless, with a rigid top and double handles. The overall effect pulls focus from fifty feet away but somehow remains serene, drawing the eye with an almost centrifugal force. There are no images of the bag in that color, so you'll have to go see it in person for yourself (or jump to see the Twitter shot Tina took).

The Orchid Esperanza Ayers clutch (above left- $1,980), with brightly contrasting chartreuse zipper pull lends lightheartedness to the usual Bottega sophistication. The Ebano Intreccio Nuance Bag (above right--$1,480) is reminiscent of the Hermes Picotin, but much more supple and intricate with functional interior pockets. There is a larger size in perky yellow and white (Tina's note: but we think the smaller is much cuter).

The signature Cabat bags (which, in the large size, are truly ample enough to carry a large baby or medium-sized dog) come this season in a light straw color leather (Paille shiny calf $7,800) which was ingeniously treated by leather craftsman to sound (crinkles and crackles to the touch) and feel like... straw (except it's leather, kind of the reverse Stella thing). Come spring, it will be a nice stand-in on those days when you just don't feel like taking your Birkin to the farmer's market. Call Bottega in BH to order- 310-858-6533!
I'm getting kind of bored with Fall bags already, it's the end of the season and everything is starting to look alike to me. One way to get out of the funk is to shop vintage. This Chanel with the swirl stitching is so edgy and cool because it looks vintage, and you get a great price for it! A win-win if you ask me. Portero is better than going to vintage shops because they authenticate all their bags and it is less time consuming to shop online. Sure I love sorting through random things to find the gems and that's fun while on vacation but honestly, who has time to do that on a regular basis? Chanel Vintage Black Lambskin Leather Swirl Stitch Envelope Shoulder Bag is $588!! Shop Chanel at Portero.com.

I'm a little upset with Gossip Girl at the moment; not only have the story lines gotten increasingly unrealistic (and this is coming from someone who grew-up going to an Upper East Side private school and graduated from college just a few years ago), but Blake Lively's character Serena keeps wearing the most RIDICULOUS outfits! Slutty cocktail dresses in the middle of the day!? No. Just NO. Given this you can imagine my surprise when, in character, Lively was photographed on set in the above outfit sporting the Mulberry Bayswater suede bag ($995). Versatile, age-appropriate, and well-priced, my only beef with the bag is the crocodile-stamped suede which I think cheapens it a bit.

What do you think about Serena's Mulberry?
We can't believe Oscar de la Renta is going to give away his favorite bag of the season-- the Taylor Python bag! He personally announced the giveaway this morning during the VPA after some serious pleading from our readers-- which makes this even more special (though we were all upset when chatroll crashed)! As Oscar told us, the python on this bag is pressed to give it a subtle sheen that makes it smooth and supple which will protect it from cracking or curling. The chocolate leather woven handle is interlaced with beading-- all handmade, it is the most fabulous detail for a handle we've seen. And by the way, this bag is worth $2950!!

Enter now to win by signing up to our newsletter (this list will be shared with Oscar de la Renta's team). Even if you already receive our newsletters, you will still need to fill out the form to enter this contest. Last day to enter is November 30, 2009 11:59pm EST. The winner will be randomly selected on December 1, 2009. Only one entry per person please and make sure you give us a working email, so that we can contact you when you win. Good luck!! ENTER NOW.

OscardelaRenta: I am very happy to be here, thank you for having me!

Nov 4 2009, 7:03 AM
BagSnobTina: Oscar, let's talk about your Fall 09 bags, they are amazing!

Nov 4 2009, 7:04 AM
OscardelaRenta: Thank you ! We have a new bag called the Taylor that we are very excited about - it is a classic hobo

Nov 4 2009, 7:04 AM
serenaluvsbags1: I luv the clutches!

Nov 4 2009, 7:05 AM
OscardelaRenta: clutches are one of our most important bags -

Nov 4 2009, 7:05 AM
BagSnobTina: And the hobo is made of a specially processed python skin, correct?

Nov 4 2009, 7:05 AM
OscardelaRenta: yes

Nov 4 2009, 7:05 AM
OscardelaRenta: the python on the Taylor starts as a matte python -

Nov 4 2009, 7:06 AM
Guest463 (guest): Hello

Nov 4 2009, 7:06 AM
nsrobinson: What is your favorite bag this season

Nov 4 2009, 7:06 AM
OscardelaRenta: and then is 'pressed' to give it what we call a patina without making it too stiff - it is the best of both worlds

Nov 4 2009, 7:06 AM
fashionablemedia: Sounds heavenly!

Nov 4 2009, 7:07 AM
OscardelaRenta: it is really beautiful

Nov 4 2009, 7:07 AM
OscardelaRenta: i guess if I had to pick one, my favorite for fall would be the Taylor

Nov 4 2009, 7:07 AM
BagSnobTina: Tell us about your earlier years as a designer

Nov 4 2009, 7:08 AM
BagSnobTina: How has fashion evolved since then?

Nov 4 2009, 7:09 AM
OscardelaRenta: people always say to me that it must be easy to do a collection after so many years as a designer, but the truth is it is harder each season

Nov 4 2009, 7:09 AM
OscardelaRenta: as a designer you are always striving for excellence - and now maybe more than ever...

Nov 4 2009, 7:09 AM
fashionablemedia: Yeah I would imagine it would get harder to come up with new and unique ideas.

Nov 4 2009, 7:10 AM
OscardelaRenta: you have to work harder in this environment to make a woman love your work enough to buy it

Nov 4 2009, 7:10 AM
BagSnobTina: Why is that? The current economic climate? Or is the consumer more intelligent about her choices?

Nov 4 2009, 7:10 AM
OscardelaRenta: i think it is both

Nov 4 2009, 7:10 AM
Guest463 (guest): wow.

Nov 4 2009, 7:10 AM

Nov 4 2009, 7:12 AM
fashionablemedia: I love it!

Nov 4 2009, 7:12 AM
BagSnobTina: When you sit down to design a bag, how do you begin? The material first or the design?

Nov 4 2009, 7:13 AM
katieso: hello

Nov 4 2009, 7:13 AM
OscardelaRenta: As with my ready to wear, I always start with materials

Nov 4 2009, 7:13 AM
katieso: oscar i love your dresses! they are so ethereal and have an out of this world quality that few designers are able to capture

Nov 4 2009, 7:14 AM
BagSnobTina: How interesting, so you look at the fabric, skins and then decide how they will be used?

Nov 4 2009, 7:14 AM
OscardelaRenta: then we look shapes and styles that have been popular for us as well as new styles each season

Nov 4 2009, 7:14 AM
OscardelaRenta: it is a back and forth process

Nov 4 2009, 7:15 AM
OscardelaRenta: thank you katie!

Nov 4 2009, 7:15 AM
katieso: omg! oscar is chatting with me! i am saving for a cocktail dress

Nov 4 2009, 7:16 AM
since900105: hey Oscar what did you study at college?? design?

Nov 4 2009, 7:17 AM
OscardelaRenta: I went to art school to study painting in Madrid - the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando

Nov 4 2009, 7:17 AM
BagSnobTina: how did you get from painting to fashion design?

Nov 4 2009, 7:18 AM
since900105: oh.. i love the fashion industry but dont have any talent in designing... so im studying chemistry to be a cosmetic chemist,

Nov 4 2009, 7:18 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Oscar, what would you say was the most important event in your career?

Nov 4 2009, 7:18 AM
since900105: interested in doing fragrances... by the way i love your fragrances

Nov 4 2009, 7:19 AM
OscardelaRenta: After my studies, I needed a job - I started doing fashion sketches because my father wanted me to come home to the Dominican Republic to work with him

Nov 4 2009, 7:19 AM
BagSnobTina: Ahhh, and who gave you a job?

Nov 4 2009, 7:19 AM
OscardelaRenta: One of the most important events was meeting Cristobal Balenciaga

Nov 4 2009, 7:20 AM
OscardelaRenta: In those days before photocopying, fashion houses had to send original sketches to their clients

Nov 4 2009, 7:20 AM
OscardelaRenta: similar to the way we now send out a lookbook of the collection

Nov 4 2009, 7:20 AM
CintiaRaquel (guest): hey oscarr!! im crazy about everything you make

Nov 4 2009, 7:20 AM
BagSnobTina: Wow, so you had to sketch all the looks for each client?

Nov 4 2009, 7:21 AM
CintiaRaquel (guest): my wedding its coming up, i doubt you wanna give me a dress!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:21 AM
OscardelaRenta: not every look

Nov 4 2009, 7:21 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Thank you for answering! Balenciaga hired you then?

Nov 4 2009, 7:21 AM
OscardelaRenta: women would select the ones they wanted

Nov 4 2009, 7:21 AM
Guest618 (guest): Hi Oscar, what other designers inspire you?

katieso: I'm curious what inspires you, period. People, places, things?

Nov 4 2009, 7:22 AM
OscardelaRenta: yes - he gave me my first job which was a tremendous learning experience, as I had never attended design school

Nov 4 2009, 7:22 AM
OscardelaRenta: i have so many inspirations

Nov 4 2009, 7:22 AM
BagSnobTina: Tell us!

Nov 4 2009, 7:22 AM
OscardelaRenta: women first and foremost

Nov 4 2009, 7:22 AM
OscardelaRenta: how they dress for their lifestyles

Nov 4 2009, 7:23 AM
katieso: and we love you!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:23 AM
OscardelaRenta: women today have very busy lives!

Nov 4 2009, 7:23 AM
since900105: do you design your fragrances as well? or do you have special labs with chemists?

Nov 4 2009, 7:23 AM
CintiaRaquel (guest): Oscar, how do you inspires yourself to make wedding dresses:?

Nov 4 2009, 7:23 AM
OscardelaRenta: I am always inspired by my home and heritage in the Dominican Republic as well

Nov 4 2009, 7:24 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): Hello Mr. De La Renta. I graduated from the HS of Fashion Industries in NY and I go back to speak to the students often. Do you have any advice for the young students there looking to pursue a career in design?

Nov 4 2009, 7:24 AM
BagSnobTina: We see that in the vibrant colors you favor.

Nov 4 2009, 7:24 AM
OscardelaRenta: yes - I always say that I am not a minimalist - I am about ornamentation

Nov 4 2009, 7:24 AM
katieso: Yes, advice please. I'm a budding designer myself.. I study many of your designs from the earlier days

Nov 4 2009, 7:24 AM
OscardelaRenta: color, prints, embroideries

Nov 4 2009, 7:25 AM
fashionablemedia: What in particular inspired your design for the Darjeeling Minaudiere?

Nov 4 2009, 7:26 AM
OscardelaRenta: my best advice would be to develop your craft, one way to do this is to work alongside of someone with experience

Nov 4 2009, 7:26 AM
katieso: I know your son is also a designer, did you encourage him?

Nov 4 2009, 7:26 AM
Pattylav (guest): Oscar the dress on the window of you store on Madison Ave in NYC is marvelous!

Nov 4 2009, 7:26 AM
Pattylav (guest): I sigh every time I go by

Nov 4 2009, 7:27 AM
serenaluvsbags1: I pass by often myself and press my nose up to the window, lol. thank you for the beautiful things that you create

Nov 4 2009, 7:27 AM
OscardelaRenta: as for the darjeeling minauidiere, i love the bold color and the warmth of its gold tone

Nov 4 2009, 7:27 AM
fashionablemedia: Yes, it's gorgeous!

Nov 4 2009, 7:28 AM
OscardelaRenta: the black and white gown?

Nov 4 2009, 7:28 AM
OscardelaRenta: Moises worked by my side for many years - now he is pursuing his own career...I encourage him 100%

Nov 4 2009, 7:28 AM
BagSnobTina: By the way, I can't hold back. I saw the Spring 2010 bags at the showroom in Sept. To die! So different from the previous collections.

Nov 4 2009, 7:29 AM
BagSnobTina: Very architectural and modern yet still has that Oscar glamour factor

Nov 4 2009, 7:29 AM
OscardelaRenta: thank you Tina!

Nov 4 2009, 7:30 AM
since900105: do you design your fragrances as well? or do you have special labs with chemists?

Nov 4 2009, 7:30 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Oscar, if you had to choose an era to go back to, which would it be?

Nov 4 2009, 7:30 AM
OscardelaRenta: As a designer you have to look forward

Nov 4 2009, 7:30 AM
OscardelaRenta: while i am deeply influenced by my past experiences, and travels, I believe that the best times and my best work lie in front of me

Nov 4 2009, 7:31 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Where do you travel to most?

Nov 4 2009, 7:32 AM
OscardelaRenta: When I am not working, I love to escape to my home in the country - it is in Kent, CT

Nov 4 2009, 7:32 AM
OscardelaRenta: i read and garden, it is my downtime

Nov 4 2009, 7:32 AM
serenaluvsbags1: what have you read recently?

Nov 4 2009, 7:32 AM
OscardelaRenta: Also when I can, I love to visit my home in the Dominican Republic

Nov 4 2009, 7:33 AM
OscardelaRenta: i think that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth

Nov 4 2009, 7:33 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): I have another question for the HS of Fashion Industries students. Many of the marketing (or non-design) students get discouraged because the school only highlights the work of the students who are design or art majors.

Nov 4 2009, 7:33 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): Do you have any words for how important marketers and merchandisers are to you, your company, and/or the fashion industry?

Nov 4 2009, 7:34 AM
OscardelaRenta: fashion is a business

Nov 4 2009, 7:34 AM
OscardelaRenta: of course, it always starts with the design, the product

Nov 4 2009, 7:35 AM
OscardelaRenta: but equally, without marketing and merchandising and getting your message out there, you wouldnt have a business

Nov 4 2009, 7:35 AM
OscardelaRenta: I always say fashion is not what happens on the runway, it is what happens when a woman buys your clothes

Nov 4 2009, 7:36 AM
katieso: so the woman trumps the art?

Nov 4 2009, 7:36 AM
katieso: i like that!

Nov 4 2009, 7:36 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): Thank you so much for that. I can't wait to share your responses with the students. Also, the Dominican Republic is a BEAUTIFUL place. I visited for a week early in October. Wonderful weather!

Nov 4 2009, 7:37 AM
BagSnobTina: Oscar, tell us about spring 2010 bags, they were different from past collections

Nov 4 2009, 7:38 AM
serenaluvsbags1: i can't wait to see! when can we see the new bags?

Nov 4 2009, 7:39 AM
OscardelaRenta: For the spring 2010 bags, we started working with ostrich in bright colors - a beautiful brick and a vivid teal

Nov 4 2009, 7:39 AM
since900105: Oscar, how do you feel when you see your designs in magazines?

Nov 4 2009, 7:39 AM
OscardelaRenta: you can see the spring runway show on www.oscardelarenta.com

Nov 4 2009, 7:40 AM
BagSnobTina: Exotics play an important role in the collection. We love that!

Nov 4 2009, 7:40 AM
fashionablemedia: Your Spring 2010 bags are absolutely lovely!

Nov 4 2009, 7:40 AM
OscardelaRenta: there are close-ups of the bags on our site too

Nov 4 2009, 7:41 AM
katieso: Do you design the bags or the clothes first?

Nov 4 2009, 7:41 AM
OscardelaRenta: I am always flattered when I see my designs in the magazines, but I am happiest when I see a woman wear them

Nov 4 2009, 7:41 AM
OscardelaRenta: exotics are wonderful and bring a sense of luxury to accessories that i love

Nov 4 2009, 7:41 AM
fashionablemedia: The first designer item I ever owned was an Oscar de la Renta robe. I was so pleased!

Nov 4 2009, 7:41 AM
since900105: the woman who wear them are very priviliged

Nov 4 2009, 7:42 AM
BagSnobTina: What is your favorite bag for spring 2010?

Nov 4 2009, 7:42 AM
OscardelaRenta: normally i design the ready to wear first - but i believe accessories are very important

Nov 4 2009, 7:43 AM
dramaspaz: How would you say your aesthetic and or your way of designing has changed from when you started to now!!!!!!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:43 AM
OscardelaRenta: its funny, though i have spent my career designing clothes - when i meet a woman, the first thing i normally notice is her shoes

Nov 4 2009, 7:43 AM
katieso: i love the shoes!

Nov 4 2009, 7:43 AM
BagSnobTina: That is funny! I'll have to make sure I wear nice shoes when I see you next.

Nov 4 2009, 7:44 AM
OscardelaRenta: for spring 2010 i love our cordia bag and the nina bag as well

Nov 4 2009, 7:45 AM
BagSnobTina: You show 4-5 collections a year, do you ever rest!?

Nov 4 2009, 7:45 AM
OscardelaRenta: http://www.oscardelarenta.com/?folderId=/collections/accessories/handbags/spring2010#lookId=5& here is the nina

Nov 4 2009, 7:46 AM
OscardelaRenta: http://www.oscardelarenta.com/?folderId=/collections/accessories/handbags/resort2010#lookId=3& and the cordia...

Nov 4 2009, 7:46 AM
BagSnobTina: Ahh, that's right-- you showed us the nina when we were at the showroom. Very ladylike. Kelly loved the cordia tote, it has a detachable center compartment!

Nov 4 2009, 7:46 AM
OscardelaRenta: rest! I am happiest when I am working - i love what i do

Nov 4 2009, 7:46 AM
since900105: how long does it take to design one whole collection?

Nov 4 2009, 7:47 AM
katieso: How many people on your design team? Are u Hiring? hehe

Nov 4 2009, 7:48 AM
OscardelaRenta: it takes several months to create a collection

Nov 4 2009, 7:48 AM
OscardelaRenta: we show 5 collections a year

Nov 4 2009, 7:49 AM
OscardelaRenta: and we design bridal alongside the resort collection

Nov 4 2009, 7:49 AM
fashionablemedia: So you work on more than 1 collection at a time?

Nov 4 2009, 7:49 AM
OscardelaRenta: they overlap somewhat

Nov 4 2009, 7:50 AM
BagSnobTina: You should see the studio, it's non stop action! We love going there, we stand in the corner so we don't get in the way and just watch quietly.

Nov 4 2009, 7:50 AM
since900105: how much do your bridal dressess cost on average??

Nov 4 2009, 7:50 AM
dramaspaz: I love what you did with the Handles of the Taylor and the Marmara Tote what was your inspiration??

Nov 4 2009, 7:50 AM
OscardelaRenta: our bridal collection starts around 5,000

Nov 4 2009, 7:50 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): We've been told over and over again that at the moment, this isn't the best economy. Do you think there is ever a RIGHT time to pursue a career anywhere in the fashion industry (or any other artistic industry) that isn't showing as much financial growth overall as usual?

Nov 4 2009, 7:51 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): I ask because I am not working in fashion at the moment but am eager to get back into it. I am a little afraid because this would be a difficult time to take a chance on switching careers and fail financially. But, I don't enjoy the work I'm doing now.

Nov 4 2009, 7:51 AM
vogue (guest): Hi Oscar! Will there be any plans for menswear any time soon? I'm incredibly impressed and in love with what you do for the ladies. thanks!

Nov 4 2009, 7:51 AM
since900105: 5000 us?

Nov 4 2009, 7:51 AM
OscardelaRenta: the handles on those bags as well as the nina are handmade in india by the same people who do our embroideries for ready to wear

Nov 4 2009, 7:52 AM
dramaspaz: Ooo, because they are FABULOUS!!! As you alreasdy know!!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:52 AM
OscardelaRenta: i think that if you do what you love, success will follow

Nov 4 2009, 7:52 AM
katieso: I can't wait to go to the oscar boutique next and look at the taylor in person. and tell them I talked to oscar thsi morning. haw haw!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:53 AM
OscardelaRenta: im glad you like the handles, as we plan to continue using them in upcoming styles

Nov 4 2009, 7:53 AM
BagSnobTina: Oscar, I got that amazing necklace from Fall, the black chunky one with gunmetal hardware. It was so well priced, are you more conscious of costs nowadays?

Nov 4 2009, 7:54 AM
OscardelaRenta: the taylor comes in embroidered nappa as well as deerskin...

Nov 4 2009, 7:54 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Which one tina? Affordable for average folks?

Nov 4 2009, 7:54 AM
dramaspaz: The reason I love is, because I love a bag with a little extra pizazz!!! It's a wleocmoed surprise when buying a bag!! Well for me anyway!!!

Nov 4 2009, 7:55 AM
BagSnobTina: Let me try to find a picture of it, it was around $700 but looks like it costs thousands!

Nov 4 2009, 7:55 AM
OscardelaRenta: i think that right now fashion jewelry is having a moment

Nov 4 2009, 7:55 AM
since900105: are you planning to hold any of your events in New Zealand by any chance?? we dont get much access to fashion down here...

Nov 4 2009, 7:56 AM
OscardelaRenta: fashion jewelry is becoming a bigger part of our business

Nov 4 2009, 7:56 AM
BagSnobTina: We love the indian jewels, too. Glad you brought that back! And of course, Lou Lou is amazing

Nov 4 2009, 7:56 AM
BagSnobTina: vogue-- I believe oscar has a menswear line, we saw him fiting models for it last year.

Nov 4 2009, 7:57 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): Have you ever considered doing a line with lower price points like those of Jimmy Choo or Karl Lagerfeld have done for H&M?

Nov 4 2009, 7:57 AM
OscardelaRenta: i currently have a small capsule collection of menswear available in our boutiques

Nov 4 2009, 7:58 AM
serenaluvsbags1: Yes, lower priced capsule line! maybe for Target? will u do that?

Nov 4 2009, 7:58 AM
fashionablemedia: Or maybe even doing an affordable collaboration with Target or something?

Nov 4 2009, 7:58 AM
OscardelaRenta: sportcoats, trousers, suits, and jackets

Nov 4 2009, 7:58 AM
since900105: are you planning to hold any of your events in New Zealand by any chance?? we dont get much access to fashion down here..

fashionablemedia: Would be a great idea!

Nov 4 2009, 8:00 AM
BagSnobTina: Oscar has a few dresses that are well priced, basic cocktail dresses!

Nov 4 2009, 8:00 AM
BagSnobTina: Now, I have a HUGE favor... you can say no if you'd like... I know the big design firms do not like to do giveaways. And you already did one with us last year with the amazing Goya... but

Nov 4 2009, 8:01 AM
fashionablemedia: oooh yes yes!

Nov 4 2009, 8:01 AM
OscardelaRenta: it would be very hard to do what I do at a lower price point - we use the finest fabrics and materials and many hours of work goes into each piece. many of the things I do are handmade.

Nov 4 2009, 8:01 AM
BagSnobTina: will you do another bag giveaway with us? So our readers can have a chance to own an Oscar de la Renta bag!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nov 4 2009, 8:01 AM
dramaspaz: I think that doing a Lower Priced Collection is dificult especially if you are a High End Designer!!! A Designer wants to remain high end, bc then the pieces are more special

Nov 4 2009, 8:01 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): BagSnobTina or BagSnobKelly will there be a transcript of this chat somewhere?

AssataSAYS (guest): Mr. De La Renta, in recent years there has been such a change in the way that we receive information on fashion from fashion news to product launches to virtual fashion shows...

Nov 4 2009, 9:12 AM
AssataSAYS (guest): Have you ever felt pressure to keep up with technology or conform to the accepted mode of communication such as having to create a Facebook page for your company or giving more interviews to blogs as opposed to traditional magazines?

Nov 4 2009, 9:13 AM
BagSnobTina: I think he got a firsthand taste at technology today....

Nov 4 2009, 9:35 AM

I might be in need of some perspective here but I think this is a great price for a big python tote, and a Gucci one at that. OK, fine it is $3800 but a Chanel leather tote is $3000! I am intrigued by the natural python markings kept on the skin, it has an ombre effect but it is natural and swirls around in an irregular pattern. Most python is dyed completely and I find this so much more interesting that more of the snake is retained other than just the scales. The loosely knotted ties at the end of the straps makes the bag less stiff and is a fun way to use the bamboo that they insist on. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $3800.

Staying focused on Heidi Montag's bag when she's wearing THAT outfit and THOSE boots -- not easy, let me tell you! Here goes though. The bag definitely has a vintage feel to it especially given the turn-lock closure and textured leather, and I like that it can't immediately be recognized as a Chloe (like say the Paraty). That said I am surprised at the price-point. I would put this bag at a few hundred dollars less.

What do you think about Montag's Chloe? Snob or Slob?
