with this update, i find myself doing something i never had to do in the old days.... redraw stuff.
if you look at the thursday feb. 8th update you'll see this update is a bit different then this on here... i just wanna make sure these first few moments with a bean are just right. i think as things start to get crazier as i get going, i'll be able to get away with stuff that's not right on the mark.

hello everyone....as you can see, there's not much to see. in fact i've spent more time tinkering with the software, then actual drawing. i confess it's giving me a headache.
for now this will be the last gif i can put up, the image is prolly coming in super choppy looking if your connection is dial-p or dsl....so, til' figure out the editing program and can clips of the progress up, i may just post single frames... learning the software has been a bit of a black cloud over this deal, i'll be glad when i have a handle on it!

well, there you have it folks... i'm gonna start on an animated short featuring the bean men... i have had a desire to make one for a long while now, since before last summer. originally the plan was to announce this on April 1st. 2007, as sort of a (not a joke) aprils fools joke, but i've gotten to the point now where i just wanna start working on it, and the joke wouldn't be funny to me anymore. there is a sorta vague plan for it... very action-ish with sound effects set to music , but nothings set in stone... i'm just gonna start making it and see where it goes.
even tho i wont be updating the site with comics for the next year or more, there should still be plenty to look at... i'm going to update the site with pencil tests and production art as i go.

i wanted to take a moment to say thanks to mister sam, for pointing out one of the imposter bean men comics to me! if any of you come across any more imposter beans, send us a link!

the guys at bomb shelter comics have featured a review of the bean men in their podcast.

oh and speaking of merchandise, the chalk bean men heads are now sold out. i sold the last one this last weekend. and out of the 85 or so resin heads i made, i'm down to my last 10 heads. so, if you wanted one, the time is now to get one. cus' once there gone, that's it. i'm not making any more of the old ones.

hey folks! it's been awhile hasn't it?....well, i'm still alive, but my throat is still an unresolved issue, it's possible i may have to go in and have my tonsils removed if things flare up again...but enough about that.

hey folks,i haven't updated in a while and i wanted to give ya'll an update on why.... well, things haven't been too great in my end of the world.the infection in my throat hasn't gone away, today i went to the hospital for the 3rd time, to deal with what's going on with my throat...the infection's moved into my jaw and the swelling is so bad, i cant open my mouth more then an inch. i haven't slept or eaten properly in weeks...i get to try out a new 4th antibiotic, and tomorrow i get to go to an ENT specialist to see if i'll need to get my throat and jaw drained!! yeah!
i have 4 or 5 pages in the works, but...with that going on with my throat and the burden of x-mas shopping on top of it, it's been very difficult to find motivation to finish anything...

so, please be patient... the bean men will return very soon, and i should have a few surprises too.

as you can see i've updated the bean men logo (or the header, depending on which circles you like to run with)
the bean men have evolved quite a bit for a comic that's only been around for 9 months. when i first started drawing them they didn't have any toes, and now their heads are larger in proportion to their bodies then they used to be.
as much as i love the original drawing (its hanging on the wall in my living room)....the truth is, it was done hastily in my pursuit to get the strip up and goin' online.

well folks, you may have noticed the lack of updates for the last few days. the reason for this is because i'm super sick right now, some sorta viral thing in my throat. believe me it hasn't been pretty.

apparently someone has found a way to cheat votes in the bean men's behalf, for the webcomic idol competition. so, i have decided to remove the bean men from the running. i have no interest in gaining a reputation as a cheater....nor do i have any interest in scolding one of my readers for doing it...i'm very flattered someone would take the time to go all out for my strip. but, cheating's just not my style.

so, i'd like to thank the guys over at bombshelter for the opportunity, and good luck to the rest of the finalists!
