The Bearded Bastards

Best bars yet

2012-03-22T14:30:00.000-04:00

I finally got around to putting my new zbars on sunday and after quite a few miles I can honestly say these are the best bars Ive had on lucy yet. I had justin make me 15 inch zbars with a slight bend at the base, minimal pullback 30 inches end to end and an 11 inch base width to be flush with the end of my tripple tree. I went with the bend at the base to avoid the need for rolling them forward as much to get comfortable, it also flows off my front end good. Theres nothing better then something truly custom made to your specs, i think im gonna keep these on for a longtime. Next its on the complimenting sissy

Not just handlebars

2012-03-14T14:21:00.000-04:00

Check out this sweet set up torch made for a customers sportster "48". This customer originally came in for a pair of bars and then later decided he also wanted an exhaust made. As a result justin put him together a nice 2into1 which got wrapped in black exhaust wrap to match the rest of the bike. The whole set flows great and sounds awesome.

Lucky to learn

2012-03-07T15:39:00.000-05:00

For christmas this year mary, barbs, and ann were nice enough to all chip in to get me new set of bars, because im not happy with how wide my wild1zbars are. A friend of mine suggested i check out Justin at Torch industries in glendale. Luckily for me not only is the quality of his work better then most big name bar companies, but i was also asked if i'd be interested in coming down to learn some things about metal fabrication. Without any hesitation I jumped on the oppurtunity and plan on learning as much as possible before we leave phoenix. My bars are all down and look great im just waiting to get some money together so i can change out the stock handlebar controlls for something not as bulky. Justin will make custom bars designed to your riding needs or a pair of bars from your custom specs and ideas. For information check out the website at http://handle-bars.com/ or give him a call at 16233992136

BEARD OFF MONTH 6!!!!

2012-01-10T23:51:00.004-05:00

HOLY BEARD OFF UPDATE BATMAN..... So yeah, we noticed we might of been slacking off on the updates as of late... Sorry, but here we are at month 6, and frankly I think one person is beginning to over take the other.... Out of respect for my brothers, I'm not going to blow their shit up.... Sound off here, facebook, twitter with who you think is gaining the lead....

I aint dead yet

2011-12-21T10:58:00.000-05:00

So its clear I've slacking for the past few months as far as posting goes but between school and the condition of my crappy phone its been hard. Now starts the long road of making up for it. Luckily I have a bunch of sweet pictures and a few bike of the days stock piled, so stay tuned for some new stuff. To start off I thought I'd post some pictures from a few rides from the past few months. The last few pics are from our attepmt to make it to the slab city riot. Danny and I had to turn around because dannys shovelhead was having some elcteical issues. Our friends matt and steffanie and a few other friends from school trooped on threw the rain and had a blast. Stay tunes for more folks plus some beard off updates on the way soon.

Excited for the "End Of The World Tour"

2011-11-16T20:53:00.001-05:00

So yeah. The tittle pretty much sums it all up. Been thinking of this for a while now. But lately I've realized that myself and the rest of the Bearded Bastards in New York need to sit down and start our planning. I know some of you reading this might be thinking to yourself, "Drew, you've got at least six months before the ride even starts." This might be true but much must be planned. Gotta figure out the best way out to Whipps in good ole Arizona, figure where we want to stop after we meet up, and figure when the "eff" all this is going to happen. I mean there's more to plan but i could just go on and on but i'm not here to bore. This event will truly be epic. If anyone reading this can think of anywhere the Bastards should stop, just let us know. I know I'm willing to stop by just about anywhere, time willing.

The Beard-Off is still in full swing. Hope everyone is enjoying that. It's been a while since I've seen Whipps in person but it's not bad. However, Matty J's is looking quite epic. Turning out to be one hell of a beard off. Best I've seen yet.

On a sad note, my baby is packed away for the cold, New York winter to come. Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to ride year round. She'll be back though. As soon as the snow melts and the roads will it.

Till next time.

Beard Off Week 10

2011-10-24T23:51:00.004-04:00

Here we are, two and a half months in, and its getting serious. Matty has a solid mustache starting to come in, but I think Whips is fuller overall. Feel free to chime in with who you think is ahead.

Two Months in and We're Neck and Neck

2011-09-23T13:25:00.005-04:00

Here is the beard off update week 8. Its looking pretty close if I do say so myself. This is a bit of a special update, since it will probably be the last time before Matty and Whips are together again before the End of The World Tour 2012. Who do you think is on top???

Beard Off Week 6

2011-09-08T03:06:00.004-04:00

Here we are again. We are at week 6 with the beard off, and I must say..... Its getting a little epic. Whips came home, so this is a special update. This is the first time Matty and Whips have seen each other since the initial shave, so again.... SUPER SPECIAL UPDATE!!!! And Whips wanted me to tell you guys, he has T-Mobile and it sucks a bag of dicks in our area, which is why he hasnt updated in awhile.... Heres the pictures

Who do you think is winning???

Arizona/Beard Off Update

2011-08-18T10:50:00.006-04:00

Oh, what a crazy few weeks it has been. First off, my old lady and I just got back from visiting Whips and his old lady, Mary out in Arizona. What a trip that was. Arizona is a whole world away from New York, and I gotta say at times I felt pretty out of place. Good adventures were had by all, and I even came home with a couple nice souviners, but more on that later. Right now, I have a Beard Off update for you. Its been about 4 weeks since the initial shave, and after seeing Whips' in person, its going to be a close match. Who do you think has the edge?

As for my update. I got a chance to go to Arizona to visit Whips and Mary with my old lady, Ann. We had such an awesome time. It was nice to finally put some faces to names, see some places that I had heard about, and came back with some sweet trinkits as well. I was lucky enough to get a tattoo from the guys at Satellite 13, got a solid new '845' badge for my bike, and some odd's and end's from some sweet stores in Cave Creek. Thanks again to all the guys at Satellite 13, and Whips' friend Chris who welded my badge. It was really awesome seeing my best friends again, and we had such an awesome time. Whips comes home in 9 days, and I'm as giddy as a PETA activist getting ready to throw red paint on some fur wearing people.

The Bet.... Round 2

2011-08-07T00:29:00.003-04:00

For anyone that doesnt know, Matty and I made a bet last football season in which I, being a very big New York Jets fan, ended up having to get a tattoo of Patriot Pat just under my arm pit. Well, I dont know if Im just stupid or a hopeful, but Matty and I have made another bet. We will be getting our arch rivals depending on who wins when the Jets and Patriots meet for the second time in the season.

What Matty must get if the Pat's lose.

What I must get if the Jets lose

Bike of the day

2011-08-06T17:32:00.000-04:00

Saw this awesome dyna at school last week. Its an 06 fxd35 35th anniversary superglide, with an awesome paint job which is a throwbrack to 1971 superglide which was the first year of them. Its got an awesome set of 12inch west coast tbars, pcii and a good looking thunder header. This bike makes me think one thing, I gotta find a new top triple tree for my bike so I can get a set of 14inch tbars.

Getting back on the horse

2011-08-01T18:03:00.000-04:00

Heres some pics I took recently riding around running errands with danny over the weekend and going to lunch with matt ball on our lunch break at school. Haven't been taking as many pictures on the bike as I should so I'm trying to get back on the horse.

Beard Off

2011-07-28T17:04:00.006-04:00

Its been so long since I put a post on here. My bike has been out of commission for about a month and a half now, so I found very little inspiration to write. Well, Whips came home about 2 weeks back, and him and Matty decided they needed to have a beard off. We had a huge BBQ, and after lots of food and lots of beer, it was time for some shavin. Heres a before and after taken by the wonderful Ms Tay Jardine. Whips is on the left and Mattys on the right.

Well, we all decided that they would do bi-weekly updates to see each ones progress and the winner will be declared in a year at the start of The End of The World Tour 2012. They shaved 2 weeks ago, so it is time for an update

New seat...again

2011-07-22T20:05:00.000-04:00

After my accident I was able to replace my old seat with this awesome la pera king cobra seat. This is probally one of the most comfortable seats I have ever ridden, and its not even broken in yet. Now I'm just waiting for the check from the insurance company so I can build my new sissy bar.

Bike of the day

2011-07-20T16:07:00.001-04:00

Todays bike of the day is dereks 84 fxr with an s&s 113 cubic inch. At first glance I'm sure most folks just think of sons of anarchy, and frankly that's a shame. This style of bike has been riden by reall outlaws for years and years before sons. Its a set up made for riding hard everyday. Some of the benefits of this set up include the fairing which helps keep high speed winds off of the riders chest along with rain, the suspension is set up to cut through turns without a problem and handle the ups and downs if wheelies, and the bars which bolt through the tripple tree give the best handling possible. This bike was built by Mike Taylor at cycle works here in arizona and is hell of a machine.

Best pizza out west

2011-07-19T16:01:00.000-04:00

There are a ton of places that make "new york" style pizza around phoenix. The only place i've found that comes close to holding up to that title and thats times square pizza on deer valley. If your ever in the area I suggest trying it out, it reminds of old school italian delight that used to be on main in liberty

Knees finally in the wind

2011-07-13T18:03:00.000-04:00

I finally got my bike back! Its been a little more then a month since I've had my bike, which means Its been a month since I've had any patients. Shes not done yet, but I've got new bars, grips, levers, highway pegs, foot pegs. As for the parts on the way, im waiting for my new seat, new sissy bar (notice the gnarly angle it has now front accident), and new gas tank from harley. Once all the parts come in im taking her back in to get finished, im just glad I've got her for the time being

First day home

2011-07-10T16:22:00.000-04:00

Never thought I would be so excited to go to jersey

2011-07-08T18:24:00.000-04:00

So I'm all checked in and waiting for my plane to newark, where my mom is picking me up. My ipod and phone have low batteries but luckily my buddy dan let me barrow sonny bargers book. Goodbye phoenix ill be back soon but until then....845 watch out I'm coming home!

Cabin fever

2011-07-07T19:48:00.000-04:00

We havent had cable in a week or so, my bike wont be done till I get home from new york and with mary allready there im going crazy in my apartment. Luckily for me the pleasent fella across the hall found this in a box and let me borrow it. Watching the same movies over and over was getting old so this was a much needed change. With classics like mario, zelda, 007, and wrestlemania im gonna need to figure out a way to pull myself away from this so I can get ready to go to new york.

Very unsettleing

2011-07-06T17:25:00.000-04:00

Our friends gil and dan found this in the kitchen light the other day and its still stuck in there. Apparently these creepy little bastards can go a whole month without food or water. Every once and awhile it gets frustrated and tries to get out, but he's not going anywhere.

Bike of the day

2011-06-29T17:31:00.000-04:00

I know it doesn't have an engine but this bike is awesome. This is an old school schwin, if I remember coreectly its a 1965. The bike belongs to a ussuall at the red onion, him and his girlfriend ride their bikes there every weekend. One day we all saw his bike outside and had to compliment him on it, (a compliment on his awesome goatee soon followed) ever since then he was stops at the shop to bullshit for a bit. My favorite part is the hand tooled seat, which was done by a local guy in mesa. From what I'm told he is almost done with another one, so I'm sure this won't be the last bicycle that gets bike of the day.
