Fuck Yeah China!

I'll be in China until Feb. 7. Have lots of good sex while I'm gone, OK?

This was an image I used on
my blog four years ago

Last year I was sued, was out of work, and was about to lose my house. Fast forward three months.

For the second time in my life, I'm getting a free trip to China. I leave tomorrow and will be gone until Feb. 7.

The last time I went was about four years ago. In that post I wrote:

"So I'm going to be in China for two weeks. How the fuck this happened is anyone's guess. I can't wait to be a goddess over there - I hear they'll dig my long blond hair. (Guess I'll shave it when I get back? I haven't decided.)"

HA! It took me two more years to muster the courage to shave my head, but I did it!

I'll be mostly in the Shanghai area. I hear it's one of the most vertical cities in the world, not just up, but down. You could live underground there and never see the light of day. Everything is so amplified there. 20 million people live in the city of Shanghai. (For comparison, 34 million live in the entire state of California.) I could stand some culture shock, and I always like experiencing new things.

Excerpt of a letter from my host in China:

"Welcome to China. Suzhou is one of the beautiful city in China, Suzhou Gardens are the best famous, there are some ancient towns in Suzhou, such as ZHOUZHUANG Town, TONGLI Town. Suzhou is worth to visit city, but there is a litter cold in February, please keep warm."

Can you imagine if I tried writing him back in Chinese? Can you say LOL in Chinese??

So here's the deal: You all know I drink, fuck, tweet and post updates on facebook like there's no tomorrow. I'm also a slave to this website (slave is an appropriate term because I DON'T GET PAID.) I'm also addicted to my smart - no, wait - trickphone.

Well, for one week, I'm going to eschew all these things. I shall throw off the shackles of familiarity (no Hitachi Magic Wand!) and embark on a new routine (helllo, hand).

People, those are a lot of addictions to address. This is going to be so good for me.

If you need to get in touch, I'll be checking email: kendra @thebeautifulkind.com

I'm going to miss my people! Matthew and I soaked each other up this weekend and I'm seeing my daughter one last time before I take the 14 hour flight halfway around the world.

I've been studying up on China in preparation for the trip. One of the books I'm reading is The Man Who Loved China: The Fantastic Story of the Eccentric Scientist Who Unlocked the Mysteries of the Middle Kingdom.

I thought it would be a pretty dry read, but I have a thing for quirky scientists who get obsessed with things. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the main character, Joseph Needham, was an enthusiastic nudist and practiced non-monogamy.

He married his wife Dorothy on Friday the 13th, 1924, and they had an open, international marriage that lasted 63 years. Interestingly, when Dorothy died in 1987, he married his long-time (as in 50 years) mistress, Lu Gwei-Djen. But she wasn't really a mistress, because they all hung out together, traveling and doing research. Sigh, sounds so romantic!

One thing I won't be giving up while I'm there is good food. I can't wait to eat real Chinese food, meet new people, stay in nice hotels and have my mind blown!

Hustler Party Recap!

At the Hustler magazine party I had a creeper, met new people, and autographed a breast for the first time.

At the Hustler magazine party I had a creeper, met new people, and autographed a breast for the first time.

Remember this video I did last month where I showed off the dress from Sin City Playwear I was supposed to wear to my Hustler magazine party?

	Yes, this one:

It's "one size fits most", but it looks like a shirt, doesn't it? Or maybe a onesie for a baby?

I decided it would be sexier if I wore a bandage on my thumb, so I enlisted a friend who could pull this scrap of a dress off.

	Meet Ashley:

I figured if she strutted around the party wearing the dress, it would take the pressure off me.

	I am so smart.

My very talented friend (the same one who sings the TBK theme song!) gave me a classier (read: age-approrpiate) dress to wear, and did my hair and makeup until I looked like Annette Bening. See? She's good!

We set up camp at the Hustler store on Natural Bridge Road.

I did not feel like the same woman who was featured in Hustler magazine, and I did not resemble her, either. I traded in the hippie hair for something more sophisticated.

Here is a censored version of one of the pics in the article:

Here's what the censored version looks like when you ask a smartass like Cap'n Marrrrk to touch it up:

The blue-bearded bastard gave me a merkin with his mug on it!

Hustler store = amazing hosts! They offered a glorious array of sexy products, and everyone got 20% off their purchase. In addition, they had three bags of awesome toys to give away to attendees that contained awesome toys such as glass dildos and a spiderweb restraint system. They also put out a fruit and cheese tray next to a fanned display of the magazine. Photographer Connie LaFlam brought along her own entourage.

I didn't want to autograph anything - that makes me feel really weird - but if someone asked, I did it, and I did it in all-block letters across my artificially hairless armpits so it looked like a 3rd grader signed it.

About 30? 40? 50? people showed up to the party throughout the evening. Some were good friends, some were from the SEX+STL community, and some were NEW BLOOD! YESSS!!!

David Wraith took pics for us, bless his soul. Here's the one he took of Ashley and me:

Here's a pic of Ashley rockin' the dress:

I begged David to get a closeup, and he obliged:

Don't you want to bounce quarters off it?!

Men swarmed her so bad it was funny/stupid - she could have collected dicks like a headhunter that night. She was like mama duck and they trailed behind her like darling drooling ducklings. She had to tape the dress to her thighs, because with every step it wiggled up her hips as if coaxed by the ghost of a pervert.

She wore six-inch cobalt heels and had only her amazing mane of curls to keep herself warm. She giddily confided in me that she felt like a "slutty Cinderella" and would definitely wear the dress again - with jeans next time.

I autographed a woman's breast - a first for me - and had to resist the urge to sign HER name instead of mine.

People treated me like a celebrity, which was surreal. They looked at me funny, as if they were trying to figure out if I was a powerful sex symbol, or merely ordinary. My dad ran around telling people who he was - he always gets a kick out of that. I'm so fortunate to have a family that's proud of what I do.

This one guy who spied on me peeing at a party (why he felt the need to spy on me when there were 50 naked people downstairs is beyond me) lurked behind a display of dildos for a while until he finally saw that I was somewhat alone. He took that moment to approach me, which made me feel cornered and uncomfortable. He asked me when the next party was, but before I could say, "You're not invited," my partner Matthew came up to us, which caused the creeper to scurry away. No doubt he thought he was going to get bounced.

Lots of dear friends were there, including SEX+STL co-founder Anna, and David Wraith's girlfriend Elaine, who GIFTED ME WITH THIS PAINTING she did of me:

Two of my latest crushes, Shine and Dan were there, as well as Chad and Steffy, aka Rockabilly Couple!

Doesn't this pic look like we're having a baby together?!

God it was an amazing whirlwind night!

After we wrapped it up there, we went to a friend's house for an afterparty, where we got nice and drunk.

Then Matthew and I went home and fucked passionately and passed out.

In the morning, we fucked three more times - in the bed, shower, etc. I felt like our sex life was a chapter book! One where we live happily ever after...

And you know what? Two parties, 50 friends, one creeper, a bout of mini-porn-mag-celebrity, a bottle of wine, five hours of sleep and four fucks later, I managed to get to work 15 minutes early.

	Now THAT'S Responsible Hedonism, people.

After a fight with his girlfriend, he went to bed. When she climbed on top of him, he thought it was for makeup sex. He was wrong.

 Watch your back.

There are four qualities you need to have in order to be good relationship material. They are:

- Agreeability

- Conscientiousness

- Confidence

- Sanity

As my friend RainMan found out the hard way, the woman he was dating lacked one or more of these qualities. Here is his gutwrenching story, in his own words:

"I was sound asleep when my girlfriend came into the room. She climbed on top of me (I sleep on my stomach), waking me up. I figured it was time for the requisite makeup sex. I was very wrong.

We'd had a fight that evening about my decision to move to another town. We hadn't been dating long enough for it to even be an option that she'd come with me, and the move was essentially ending things.

She, like all the girls I'd dated back then, was very dramatic. We all know a few, the types who turn everything into a major fight. I guess this was too serious of a slight in her eyes to let it go.

To look at her, you'd never think she'd be that crazy. She was average height, build, brunette, had the typical girl-next door look.

She'd grabbed the pocket knife (a folding knife with a 3” blade) sitting next to my wallet and keys when she came into the bedroom, and stabbed me in the upper back. There's an odd moment right after it happens, when you're still half-asleep, that you don't really register what just happened.

Once the pain hit, I jumped out of bed and tried to get to the door, grabbing my keys along the way. She was blocking my exit, still holding the knife. We struggled for a few seconds as I tried to get the knife away from her, ending up with two slashes across my right hand for my efforts.

Eventually I was able to get by and ran out the front door to my car in the parking lot. I swear I must have looked like the Road Runner going across the parking lot, probably with a little dust cloud trailing behind me. I drove to the hospital, still not sure how serious the wound was. I wasn't bleeding badly, but who knew what was going on internally.

It was a shooting pain, all over my torso. Cold at first, but turned into a strong burning sensation (I'm guessing from the bleeding?). Once the adrenaline hit, the pain wasn't as noticeable. It came back after the adrenaline wore off, and it was more of a throbbing pain. The weird part is that there was also a sensation of pressure, like the knife was still in the wound.

They checked me out at the ER, ran a bunch of tests and found that I was quite lucky: she hadn't done any real damage. Between the relatively short blade, her choice of location and the low force she used, she had managed to miss hitting anything vital. I was running purely off adrenaline, so my heart was racing and I was fighting not to go into shock or start panicking. I was all over the map emotionally.

The next couple days I crashed (read: hid) at a friend's house, and got him to go load my stuff into a moving van. As soon as my place in the new town was ready, I was on the road.

The days immediately after, I was mostly angry at myself. It was that sort of "Wait a minute, I'm a smart guy. How the fuck did I end up like this?" feeling. That I didn't date at all for almost three years after is a pretty good indicator of how it affected me long-term. And once I did start up again, I was definitely paranoid. Anything even remotely similar to the crazy girls and I'd bail immediately. I've gotten much better since, but it was rough at first.

In an odd way, it was actually the reactions of the people who found out that did more damage to my trust of people than the actual attack. My guy friends aren't exactly the talk-about-your-feelings type (they served their role of kicking my butt whenever I started getting mopey, though), but I told three of my female friends about it. For two of them, gender loyalty trumped friendship, and they tried to pin the attack on me and find something I did that would justify it. Yeah, we haven't talked since...

That was the end of my crazy-girl phase, and in fact I didn't date at all for almost three years afterward. I've still got the two scars (pretty faint by this point) on my hand, which makes for a very uncomfortable time when any of my current girls want to play the “how'd you get your scars” game. I usually lie and say I cut my hand cleaning up glass from a broken window. Crazy exes are best left in the past.

As for her, she's in jail. Not from that night, she was never charged with anything. The knife magically disappeared and there were no witnesses. I found out from a friend that she assaulted one of the guys who came after me, earning herself an eight-year sentence after doing some serious damage to him. All in all, I suppose I came out relatively unscathed.

I should have been smart enough not to end up in that situation. Hell, I knew she was a little crazy when I first met her. But like many people, I kept going, figuring I could keep things under control.

	Lesson learned."
The Pedo Van Game

My daughter and I play a game that might be in bad taste, but it's definitely better than the real thing.

 Pedo vans are everywhere!

You know the game Slug Bug?

Well, my daughter taught me a new road game that's a sick variation on that. (Note: Punching is optional, and we're a non-violent family.)

One day I was driving along and she pointed to a white van and announced, "Pedo Van."

"What are you talking about?"

"White vans are what pedophiles drive," she explained.

Excuse me?! I thought they were work vans. Silly me.

I asked, "Where did you learn THAT?"

"From the internet," she said simply.

After I finished telling her that the internet is not the most reliable information source, I quickly got into the spirit of things and started noticing white vans EVERYWHERE.

In order to count as a Pedo Van, it has to have no windows on the sides. The older and creepier it appears, the better. It can't have writing on the side like "Beverly's Flowers" or "Bob's Seafood," but suggestive names such as "Reem Your Pipes" or "St. Anthony's Church" are acceptable.

Now everytime I see a white van, I compulsively blurt, "Pedo Van." For instance, one time I saw a whole row of them lined up in front of a catering business. When I exclaimed, "Look at all those Pedo Vans!" my daughter breathed, "It's a Pedo CONVENTION."

Then one time we saw a white van parked in an office parking lot after hours.

After I announced the perfunctory "Pedo Van," my daughter shot back, "Pedo Idiot - he should be parked at a playground, not an office building, sheesh!"

So now we have something to bond over besides tea parties and Harry Potter books.

I've taken to muttering Pedo Van under my breath out and about, even when I'm alone. What can I say, I'm a sucker for sick jokes.

As a parent, I like to keep tabs on all the child molester stories in the news. Unfortunately, there are ASSLOADS of them. Almost as many as there are Pedo Vans.

"Good news, honey!" I told my daughter after perusing an article (I found on the internet), "According to this article, now that you're 11 you no longer have to worry about pedophilia! Now you just need to worry about hebephilia. And well, possibly pedohebephilia."

She said, "OK, so when I turn 18, I just have to worry about plain old rapists?"

I laughed and said, "Not if the SlutWalk movement has their way!"

Then there's Maddox's "How to Spot a Pedophile" article and quiz. (In the interest of research, I took the quiz and scored an 11 out of 18.)

	Pedophilia Awareness

All kidding aside, there are many other interesting related articles and websites out there. For example, there really was a pedophile convention last August in Lynchburg, VA, and I'm not talking about NAMBLA.

It was hosted by a group called B4U-ACT and had real live pedophiles, or "minor-attracted persons," in attendance. B4U-ACT's motto is "Living in Truth and Dignity." They believe there is an unfair stigma in our society when it comes to pedophilia, and the unhealthy way we handle it (FEAR! OUTRAGE! DENIAL!) can cause more problems than if we approached the issue with compassion and a willingness to be educated.

Nothing is a more of a hot button topic than linking children and sex. A recent move to recognize pedophilia as a disability in Greece is a good example of how an attempt to get a handle on a nation's health can twist faster than you can say "panties-in-a-bunch." I'll bet I get accused of being a child molester just for having the audacity to address the taboo topic.

And what about all the scandals involving hot blond teachers and 14-yr-old boys? Browse this slideshow and you be the judge. Which deserved jailtime, and which were wrongfully persecuted?

As far as I'm concerned, you can be sexually attracted to whoever and whatever you want, as long as you don't touch what you shouldn't. It would be nice if we all knew who was hands off, but alas, we are human, and if there's one thing for certain, our species is an unpredictible and emotional lot.

I wish there was a "You Break It, You Buy It" policy in the sex realm. Instead, we have a few bad apples running around robbing people of their sexuality, and those bad apples are like food poisoning that can linger for years.

As parents, it is our job to educate ourselves and our children about the realities of life. We should be fiercely protective of our children, and do our best to put them first without sacrificing too much of ourselves. Trust your gut, and do your research. The RAINN website is a great place to start. (In response to the recent scandal, Penn State raised $500,000 for RAINN's National Sexual Assault Online Hotline, by the way.)

Instead of raising innocent children, we should raise knowing children. I know for a fact that I've cultivated an open and honest relationship with my daughter so that she knows she can come to me with any questions or issues.

She has the benefit of living in a guilt and shame-free home that is relaxed enough to joke about sensitive topics, which can lead, believe it or not, to important trauma-preventing conversations.

Vulva 101: The Book

Meet 101 vulvas, up close and very personal. Too bad this book isn't scratch-n-sniff!

Meet 101 vulvas, up close and very personal. Too bad this book isn't scratch-n-sniff!

Raise your hand if you like vulvas.

I'm assuming everyone who reads this website just raised their hand.

Remember how I reviewed a photo book all about vulvas a few months ago? It was called I'll Show You Mine, by Wrenna Robertson, a Canadian multiple degreed exotic dancer.

It seems that the Canadians have vulva on their minds, because another photo book all about vulvas was brought to my attention. This time, the author is a red-blooded heterosexual man named Hylton Coxwell (I take it that's a clever pen name?) who took it upon himself to uncover as much pussy as possible and present it in the form of a very large coffee table book called Vulva 101, in vivid color.

I asked him a few pointed questions about his project; his answers are below.

What inspired you to publish a book featuring extreme closeups of female genitals?

Mainly the amount of shame and embarrassment regarding vulvas that's so prevalent in society. Many women I knew personally had trouble even saying the correct words for their genitals, or had concerns about the appearance of theirs. They felt their lips were too big, or too small, or too dark, or somehow they weren't "normal". But there wasn't anywhere for them to see what real vulva looked like, apart from porn, and the few books that existed at the time avoided full color photos in fear of being too graphic.

I wanted the book to show the true diversity of vulva, so I had some rules in place to that end. Anyone who wanted to be in the book was welcome, regardless of age (18+), body type, gender, ethnic background, etc. As long as they had a vulva and had time for a shoot, they were in. Sometimes this meant doing shoots unexpectedly, and in less than optimal conditions. No studio lighting was used, so all the vulva appear as they would be seen in that situation. And as you pointed out earlier in our conversation, this also means chipped nail polish, socks, razor burn or stubble and tampon strings. Real women as they actually are on a regular day.

Often people ask what kind of women are in the book. The only way to really describe them is to go to a busy shopping mall on a Saturday afternoon. They're the first one hundred and one women you see.

Also, I wanted to combat the censorship of the word itself, which most major TV networks won't even allow in dialog. Male genitals are acceptable, but "vulva"—that's too graphic for people to hear, apparently.

Are men equally qualified to publish books all about female genitals?

Yes, why wouldn't they be? Women are equally qualified to publish books about male genitals (and several already have), so the reverse should be the case as well.

Do you ever get accused of doing it for the wrong reasons just because you're a man?

Not very often and mostly by men. In general, people understood the concept of the book and if the "wrong reasons" were my intent, there would have been considerably cheaper and far less time-consuming ways of going about that.

Speaking of men, their reaction to the book is really funny sometimes. About a third are visibly afraid of it! As in, will leave the room as quickly as possible. Strange.

The few women who accused me of that, generally from the "you're a man, you have no right to do a book like this!" perspective, usually ended up posing for the book after learning more about it.

Who do you dedicate your book to?

It's dedicated to all those who have ever felt shame regarding their bodies and to those who see beauty in all things.

How did you find your models?

At first, online (various sites) and then later once the project took off, via word-of-mouth. In fact the response was quite overwhelming. Even after finishing the final hundred and first shoot, I still had almost 80 people on the waiting list.

What female celebrity would you love to photograph in the style of Vulva 101?

I can't really pick just one, but off the top of my head: Sarah Silverman, Zhang Ziyi, Ke$ha, Monica Bellucci, Lady Gaga and Halle Berry.

What's your personal favorite style of vulva? Hairy? Big lips? White?

I wondered prior to doing the book if I would find I had a personal preference when it came to vulva, however I found that I don't have a favorite style. They're all so unique, it's the variation I find most appealing. I have favorite photos in the book of course, but I'm not going to say which ones, as it doesn't matter what I think.

What does it feel like photographing vulvas?

Each shoot was as unique as the person/people involved. I did my best to let the mood and personality of each person show in the photos. It's subtle of course, but everything from giddy nervousness to confidence and exuberance I tried to convey in each page, and the combination of the three photos played a part in that. Sometimes that even meant using a photo that wasn't my favorite (on a technical level: focus, color, etc) or not using a great one. There were photos that worked together and those that didn't. I can't really explain what made them work though.

Each photo session was dynamic too. I thought of it more as a partnership instead of as a photographer taking pictures of a model. If they were nervous, we usually chatted more prior to the shoot. Or if they had lots of ideas, they'd basically run the shoot—sometimes doing acrobatics on my deck or front lawn!

I definitely found the whole process extremely interesting, and met a lot of fascinating people along the way.

So that Vulva perfume from Germany is for real and not a parody? You've smelled it yourself?

Yes it's real! I have smelled it myself and was surprised how accurate it is. Everyone has their own unique and variable scent of course, but it has the essence captured quite well. To clarify, it's not really a perfume, more of an erotic scent designed to stimulate arousal. Porn for your nose basically.

Copyright 2011, The Beautiful Kind

I call Steffy my dream girl because every time I dream something, she makes it come true!

We have so much fun together!

Have you seen this podcast of my dream girl Steffy and me?

I call her my dream girl because every time I dream about something, she makes it come true!

Let me give you an example.

The other night she came over for a sweet and dirty little threesome with Matthew and me. We started out with some cocktails and conversation.

Then, we retired to the bedroom, which was bathed in a reddish, golden glow from the mood lighting decorating the walls.

I lounged on the bed as they stood before me. Steffy undergoes the most amazing transformation every time she stands next to big, hulking Matthew - she shrinks! She looks like a little girl, and she gets all giggly, too. She was wearing an adorable fuzzy pink vintage sweater, which made her appear even more feminine.

He circled her like a lion courting a lionness, the way a predator romances his prey, loving, respectful... and with great intent. He tilted her chin up, exposing her neck for him to nuzzle...

Overcome with excitement, I hopped up and wriggled between them and whispered, "I want a Butterfly Threesome."

	"What is that?" they asked.

"I want Matthew to be the body, and for us to be the wings on either side of him, and for him to go back and forth between us, until he finally cums inside Steffy."

Since we're fluid bonded, this kind of rare scenario was a possibilty for us. I honestly get more excited watching my loved ones fuck than I do being right in the middle of all the action - I'm such a voyeur!

It's important to be relaxed and giving during a threesome. If you ever feel like you're not getting your share, don't worry - you can make up for it later.

We shed our clothes and prepared for our tripling. I lay on top of her and we made out, sighing into each other's mouths. Our pussies were stacked and inviting. He got down low and ate her pussy at length, really worked it over until she bloomed. Mine quivered in anticipation and finally rejoiced at the tickle of his beard and warm, wet mouth. He growled and licked as she stroked and held.

He came up for air. I could feel him looming and rooting around behind me, preparing to fuck something. I couldn't see him, but I knew he was raging hard. He always gets that way when he hits the lovely ladies jackpot. I wondered where his cock would plunge.

It found its home deep inside Steffy's tight pussy.

He pretty much fucked her like a lion, too. Have you ever seen lions mating? Primal, roaring, gripping... now imagine me squished between them.

 in the Photos section

She was cooing and gasping as he thrust into her and filled her up, so I clamped my hand over her mouth to keep her quiet, which made her squirm even more.

I involuntarily ground my aching crotch into her hip as if I were the one getting fucked. I was grooving off their sexual energy, it flowed through all of us.

It didn't take him long to explode inside her. He totally jungle fucked her.

He pushed my top half out of the way so he could collapse into her, kissing her deeply.

Afterward we all examined her cream pie pussy with great curiosity and delight.

"She clamps it in there," he observed. Not me, my pussy spits it right out. "She wants to get pregnant," he leered.

She laughed. "Good thing you're seedless!"

I gently poked at her swollen, creamy laced lips and marveled at what just transpired. Another dream cum true...

Then he positioned me so I was lying on my back. He pinned my top half down and worshiped my breasts while she expertly tended to me below.

I LOVE HOW SHE LICKS ME.

Such a tiny tongue, it didn't take long for me to tremble with orgasmic relief.

	Afterglow.

They got up and dressed, but I curled up in the warm, rumpled bed.

"Hey, we didn't get to do the Butterfly Threesome!" I said with a start.

"Yeah I guess that was more like The Grasshopper," he admitted.

"I was like a little leaf stuck between you!" I laughed.

He promised we would work on more positions next time, which suited us all just fine.

He drove her home and I passed out right where they left me.

After he dropped her off he texted me: "My beard smells A-Fucking Mazing!"

But I didn't read it until the morning.

Kinky Romance Writer: An Interview with Kilt Kilpatrick

Meet my friend Kilt Kilpatrick, an erotica author who writes about sex with vampires, zombies, tigers, Mormons and more!

Meet my friend Kilt Kilpatrick, an erotica author who writes about sex with vampires, zombies, tigers, Mormons and more!

Don't you hate when a friend asks you to read their stories and you do, and their writing isn't very good? Don't you hate when a friend asks you to read their stories and you avoid it for months because you assume a man who writes romance stories about zombies can't pull it off? Don't you hate when you finally do read his stories and you feel like a jerk because your assumptions were totally wrong?

Yeah, that happened to me.

My friend Kilt Kilpatrick writes fantastically weird erotic stories that feature vampires, gingerbread houses, forced homosexuality, and more. I highly encourage you to check his work out. But first, let's take a peek under his kilt and see what makes him unique in the world of romance writing! (See also the accompanying photo gallery featuring more pics of Kilt and his stories.)

Tell me about your pen name.

I knew the first name had to be “Kilt.” I’m known for wearing them, and it’s just a fun, catchy, celtic (and sexy!) nickname. To make it easy to remember, I went with another K name for the surname. I figured readers would find me by thinking “It was Kilt K-something...). Beside, I think “Kilt Kilpatrick” has a nice ring to it...

What's a nice man like you doing writing creative smut like this?

It’s all my girlfriend Dana’s fault. I wrote a short story to her for Valentine’s Day, and without telling me - sneaky minx! - she submitted it to her publishers and asked “say, what do you think of THIS guy?” They loved it and I’ve been writing erotica for them ever since...

Where can readers find more information and buy the ebook?

I’m very proud to tell you UNDER THE KILT just won a Best Paranormal Romance of 2011 award from The Romance Reviews - woo hoo! It’s currently only out in e-book form; you can get it here.

My favorite story was the one featuring the tiger. Have you been to India?

No, but I love you for asking! I strive to do as much research as it takes to bring each story to life and make it ring true. “The Tiger’s Tale” is one of my favorite stories, too. I had a great time researching the period, and I was really delighted how lush and moving the language was. I’m very proud of it. It’s so beautiful; even I get choked up when I read it now. I think it would make such a great movie, don’t you? If Merchant-Ivory productions did NC-17 films, it would be a perfect fit!

Personally, I think kilts are sexy, and obviously you do, too.

I have four of them at home, including a Braveheart-style Greatkilt that I used to wear back in my Renn Faire days. I wear them pretty much any time I have an excuse.

I don't, however, think zombies are sexy. Why the hell would you write about zombie sex?

I don't write about sex WITH zombies (eeew!) - I write about sex during zombie apocalypses - very different! You know, I totally understand that a zombie apocalypse isn’t the most obvious choice for an erotic story, and yet somehow there’s two very different zombie stories in UNDER THE KILT - and I love them both. One, “Last Times at Ridgemont High,” is a zom-rom-com (zombie romantic comedy, of course) and the other, “Love Bites: A Survival Guide, is sort of a gothic horror/erotic romance. It’s been called surprisingly haunting and beautiful, which pleases me. Again, I blame Dana. She loved zombies long before they were cool, and now she’s got a zombie trilogy (think Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets The Walking Dead) coming out next year from Titan Books; the first book is PLAGUE TOWN. Very cool stuff!

The story you wrote about the wicked woman who seduces two wholesome Mormon boys was shocking! Holy shit, the things she made them do...

That was a VERY fun story to write! The main character, Sabrina, is such a hoot, and I loved her take on Mormon doctrine. You just gotta love the Mormons, don’t you? I wrote this right after “The Tiger’s Tale;” and it was so easy to write when I didn’t have to worry about writing in heightened Victorian language.

Are you bisexual? How do you know about the things you write about?

Aren’t all San Franciscans? Actually, one of the things I’m most proud of is that readers assume I’m a lesbian, or a gay man, or a straight girl, or whatever the orientation of the main character happens to be. Being a writer is a lot like being an actor that way: both skills involve getting into the head of the character. And besides, I do love to do research...

What inspired you to write a dirty version of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale?

Wasn’t that a fun read? I had in mind the “Fractured Fairy Tales” from the old Rocky & Bullwinkle Show; they would always do these crazy post-modern takes on Aesop’s fables or old fairy tales - great stuff. And I’ve always loved Udo Kier’s accent - his voice is so silky and Teutonic. So the thought of doing a story narrated by him

Honestly, for me the inspiration for stories usually starts with a call for submission from the publishers. They’ll come up with a theme for a short story collection, and some will resonate with you, some won’t. Sometimes I’ll get inspired by a random thought, and find I can start building a story around it, and then it grows from there - “Love Bites: A Survivor’s Guide” began like that: What would a vampire do in a world full of zombies?

Is forced homosexuality a popular fantasy? I think men are afraid to admit how attracted to penises they are - their own and others.

I think most straight guys are secretly terrified at the thought they might be gay, and so a male/male story were the hero is taken against his will relieves them of responsibility for being aroused. It’s interesting; there was a study where they questioned men about their attitudes towards homosexuality, attached some electrodes and then showed them gay porn. Here’s a shocker: overwhelmingly, they found that the ones who scored the highest for homophobia were also the ones most aroused by the man-on-man porn...go figure...

As a submissive woman it's refreshing to read all these strong dom female characters. What women inspire you?

Oh, there’s so many awesome, vibrant women out there that embrace their sexuality with joy and a sense of fun and adventure, whatever their particular orientation, preferences, sub/dom status, and/or kinks are. My female characters are drawn from a lot of the women in my life. I love them all.

Copyright 2011, The Beautiful Kind

I received this thoughtful letter the other day:

	"Dear Kendra,

I just read your story that was in the latest Hustler.

We probably are in agreement 100% on most topics.

I personally feel that people are too uptight about sex and nudity in general and that if public nudity was allowed- everybody would worry a lot more about their health and appearance. Nudity would be the 'norm' instead of something 'dirty'.

My personal opinion about sex-- 'So what?' if you are not hurting anyone with your actions and everyone involved is consenting....have fun!

I don't know how to ask this without it sounding mean and I don't want it to come off that way.

My questions are these: I'm wondering what you think about your actions having such a negative affect on your daughter?

How are you handling this with her?

What do you tell her?

I'm just wondering, no offense intended.

	Sincerely,

	Cave Man"

Here is what I wrote back:

	Dear Cave,

Thanks so much for thinking about my story and dropping me a line. I'm glad to hear we agree that sex and nudity are natural and nothing to be ashamed of. That is exactly what I am teaching my daughter.

She is learning about sexuality and nudity in a sex-positive, age appropriate manner. Therefore, she has a healthier attitude about sex at age 11 than the average American adult. She knows I am a sex-positive activist and supports my mission. She knows about my website, but she does not read it. She is not yet interested in sex.

It is my goal that by the time she is a legal adult, she can talk about her sexuality openly and honestly, without having to hide behind an alias like I did for many years. I'm proud to say I have taken many lumps, but it was worth it, because I can talk about sex and put my real name and face to it. It's very liberating being able to be myself with my daughter, parents, family and partner. I want everyone to enjoy that level of freedom!

I think the U.S. is making great progress; I look forward to seeing how the sex-positive movement continues to unfold.

Sincerely,
Kendra Holliday

Then he wrote me back with:

"You're such a smart lady! My wife and I support your efforts!"

	which made me really happy.
