If you are not careful enough, the lost weight will come back to haunt you plus some. Remember that gaining weight is a lot easier than losing weight for almost everybody. Aside from those who are blessed with good genes allowing them not to gain any weight no matter how much they eat, but for the rest of us we find it hard to lose even a single pound without putting forth effort. That is why knowing the reasons why it is hard to lose 10 pounds or less is important.</p>
<p><strong>Physical Problems</strong></p>
<p>Many people don’t realize that they can easily gain weight due to some underlying conditions. There are plenty of medical conditions that can contribute to weight gain. Some of these include pituitary disorders, blood sugar imbalance, and a relatively low thyroid hormone.</p>
<p>Malfunctions in the adrenal gland can also cause some people to gain weight faster. Liver and kidney disease can also become a factor. Even drugs that are used to cure such diseases can also cause some people to gain weight especially if the drugs have a fluid retention side-effect. That is why it&#8217;s important to go to a doctor first before even deciding to lose weight in order to properly assess the right course of action.</p>
<p><strong>High Levels of Stress</strong></p>
<p>The popular Yo-Yo dieting, which has been a trend to most celebrities nowadays, is mostly caused by huge levels of stress. Stress can affect the weight of a person; either losing or gaining weight can be caused by stress. The body can also cause stress by producing stress hormones, like epinephrine and cortisol in huge amounts. </p>
<p>These two hormones can cause the abdomen to store more fats than usual. Avoiding the production of these stress-inducing hormones must be dealt with externally through avoiding stressors whether from work or at home. Finding relaxing activities can also help the body eliminate stress.</p>
<p><strong>Body’s Toxicity Levels</strong></p>
<p>If the body absorbs too much toxins, it will need those extra pounds to dilute them. This is why it is important to opt for organic foods. Not only are they healthier but contain fewer toxins from chemicals. Conventional methods of farming require chemicals to fight against pests attracted to produce. Spraying pesticides is a normal ritual when growing crops. However, this practice causes health problem, which can contribute to weight gain or inability to lose weight.<br />

Addictions to Food and Beverage</strong></p>
<p>Let’s face it, all of us love food. However, the excessive love for food and beverage obviously causes weight gain and obesity. Furthermore, addiction to drugs especially narcotics can cause the imbalances to your weight. Some chemicals like those from marijuana can cause the body to crave for more food than usual. </p>
<p>Alcohol addiction can also cause weight gain due to the alcohol’s ability to dehydrate the body. This would result in an increase need to eat and drink. Aside from those, excessive use of sugar on food and drinks can cause the body to gain weight faster. Depending on such unhealthy habits is one of the major reasons why it is hard to lose 10 pounds or even less. </p>

It seems to be a modern trend that we&#8217;re seeing a higher number of mature students wanting to attend lectures and obtain a degree than ever before. It is no surprise considering the educational opportunities that are available now and were probably not available to them when they left high school ten, twenty or even thirty years ago. Going to university is not a novel concept but it may seem that way to individuals that never had the opportunity. Now that they do have the opportunity, they want to make the most of it!</p>
<p>A mature student may apply to go to college for any number of reasons. It may be that they feel a career change is in order, or that they want to do something for themselves now that their children are old enough to fend for themselves. These are the two most popular reasons why individuals apply to college in their twenties, thirties, forties and even fifties, but what about the financial wrench that their families will experience as a direct result of one less income to deal with when they do attend a campus based university or college? Education would then be their full time pastime, but what of the lost income?</p>
<p>There is financial aid available for mature students, and only for mature students. This means that you do not have to compete with the general public for grants and scholarships, only people over the age of twenty-five. Some may actually stipulate that the minimum age is thirty, but they are in the minority. There is national, state and college funding available for mature students because the government is dedicated to getting a high number of individuals over a certain age into education as part of their initiative to bring education to the masses. Most colleges and local governments have followed the federal government initiative and recognized that a massive section of the workforce would be neglected if older individuals were not encouraged to apply.</p>
<p>Applications from older individuals usually depend on whether or not the potential student&#8217;s family can survive without his or her wage coming in. In the vast majority of cases, the answer would be no, unless of course that individual was not working in the first place or they had some sort of funding behind them. As we all get older, it becomes harder and harder to afford to live without a wage coming in. As soon as this was brought to the attention of governmental officials, more funding became available.</p>
<p>Grants are offered by local governments and individual schools to encourage mature students to apply. This can actually be as much as needed to cover tuition fees or just a small supplemental income, because it is largely based on the family annual income following the deduction of the applicant&#8217;s salary. However, you can apply to more than one source for funding and low-income family grants may also be available to you too.</p>
<p>In terms of scholarships, there are those dedicated to financing the mature student, most of which can be found via a quick search at www.scholarships.com by inputting your date of birth. However, you would also be eligible to apply for all funding and scholarships open to younger students too.</p>
<p>The funding offered to individual mature students does not just stop with a bachelor or associate degree though Mature students can also apply for Masters and PhD funding if they are simply looking to extend their education instead of starting it. There are many grants and scholarships that can be found via a simple search that are tailored to this purpose. Therefore, regardless of your individual intentions, it is wholly possible to find funding to enable you to achieve whatever dream it is you have as a mature student. You can make your own destiny without seeing your family fall below the poverty line!</p>
<p>I applied for a grant when I was 45 and it paid for most of my beauty college fees.</p>

Applying personal mastery in a person’s life can make dramatic and great changes.</p>
<p>Personal mastery helps a person develop themselves and be able to interact effectively with other people. It could actually help you become successful in life.  The great thing about personal mastery is that it helps an individual develop  healthy communication with their inner self and at the same time reflect this change in how they interact with others.</p>
<p>They say that communication is the most important source of power.  Many businesses and organizations have all but collapsed because of many failures due to poor communication between business executives and employers. Employees show high burn-out and stress levels, dissatisfied and disengaged employees.</p>
<p>To achieve effective communication, it is important to increase and attain personal mastery.  To increase personal mastery would mean change in attitude and perspective.  It is important for leaders and organizations to maintain openness to engage their colleagues, employees and customers.</p>
<p>Communication is an important part of relationship building.  The most important relationship is our relationship with our inner self.  Therefore, communication with the inner self should be maintained.  How we communicate with our inner self determine how we communicate with others.</p>
<p>Positive thinking and reinforcement would help us deal with difficulties better.  For example, if we believe something then those beliefs can either limit or be beneficial for us.  A positive inner dialogue would project a more positive and supportive communication with others.</p>
<p>Personal and career mastery can help a person improve their growth and development and succeed in their chosen field. Effective communication is not determined how well we speak in front of many people or how well we write documents, effective and good communication relies on how well people have understood us and how we expressed ourselves.</p>
<p>An example of maintaining effective communication is giving feedback or constructive criticism. We should be able to give and receive criticisms openly.  Aside from that, when giving feedback we should take into consideration our emotions.  Dealing and taking care of emotions is one of the methods that personal mastery can achieve.  Aside from that, personal mastery also helps an individual to look at things objectively.<br />
<strong><br />
Effective communication with the help of personal mastery can assist with the following: </strong></p>
<p><strong>• Effective problem solving.</strong> Since you would be able to communicate to your employers and co-employees about the real issues and problems, this can lead to a deeper understanding of the problem.  A deeper understanding could lead to quicker and more effective problem solving.</p>
<p><strong><br />
• Effective leadership. </strong> For a leader to set direction and influence the team and the organization, he or she should be able to develop better communication with them.  Criticisms should be given as a form of suggestion and should serve as support not as chastisement.</p>
<p><strong><br />
• Effective planning. </strong> Planning involves understanding the mission, vision, and the goal of an individual, department or organization.  Planning should be guided by the guiding principles of the group. However people may have a different approach to everything, it is important to properly communicate with each other to create and draw up an effective plan.</p>
<p><strong><br />
• Effective organizational development. </strong> Personal mastery is not only about  personal and professional development and growth.  An improvement in the personal and professional path of a person can have significant effects on the improvement of the group or organization.</p>

People read the word spiritual and they immediately conclude that this is something for the religious or for the highly spiritual people. The spirituality of the self through spiritual awakening refers not to the religion of a person but to the consciousness or awareness of being, the realization that one exists.</p>
<p>Various religious beliefs do have their own versions of spiritual awakening. Most are rooted on their own sets of religious doctrines and principles. Some have come to a spiritual enlightenment through meditations and self actualization. To them spiritual awakening is the removal of whatever layers or walls we have that cover or hide our true selves. It is having the experience of peace, the calmness, the fulfillment, and completeness. One person has so eloquently put it as waking up through a big bump to head. That of course is a too simplistic way to describe the experience.</p>
<p>Spiritual awakening is not the end of the end. It is in fact can be seen as just a stepping stone where you can provide change to other people and the environment you live in. In some religions, spiritual awakening is the pre-requisite to spiritual healing. If spiritual awakening is the finding of your true self, the spiritual healing part is the part where you collect all the positive physical, emotional and spiritual elements and use them to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.</p>
<p>Its important that this person pass to other people these positive energies to promote spiritual healing to all. There are religions that would suggest or even require people to accompany spiritual healing with prayers and going to their church. They insist that prayers will provide or reinforce the guidelines they need to reach, repeat and maintain spiritual awakening.</p>
<p>For Christians, spiritual awakening is also attained upon realization that they are sinners and begin to repent. They have this enlightenment that God is the only true path and going back to him and being faithful to the doctrines of the Church is the way to spiritual healing. This is, of course, only one religion interpreting the essence of spiritual awakening. One cannot say that their interpretation is wrong for the experience is really a subjective one based precisely on interpretations of what should and should not be.</p>
<p>Now those who are far less attuned to religious influences believe that spiritual awakening can be achieved through meditations. Through proper meditation, inner peace and serenity are attained. Healing can be achieved as well. But meditation is only a step towards spiritual awakening. One has to go deeper into the process to achieve the true enlightenment as some people would rather believe.</p>
<p>Meditation can come in different forms and techniques. There’s the mantra meditation where you need to repeat a certain sound which appeals to your mind before you reach that meditative state. There’s the trataka meditation technique where instead of sound, one has to focus his attention or mind on a particular object. This technique has been used in the past by a number of religions. Chakra meditation on the one hand is more of energy based mediation where the goal is to open the chakra points in the body to achieve a higher level of awakening of the consciousness.</p>
<p>Religion and spiritual awakening are connected but depending on the religion as well as the approach and techniques, the interpretation of spiritual awakening varies. But one thing is certain, achieving spiritual wakening results to having a positive outlook in life making living in this world happier and more content.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Conscious creation is the act of making conscious effort to create the life you want. It does go deeper than just changing your life, however. Conscious creation actually refers to the very act of creating your own reality.</p>
<p>One of the tenets of conscious creation is that we each have a separate reality that other people cannot know or really understand. And that each of us has the ability to create that reality into anything we want it to be.</p>
<p>Every day when we get out of bed, we set into motion the creation of a certain reality, good or bad. And through conscious, also sometimes called deliberate, creation, we can shift that reality in either a better or worse direction.</p>
<p>At the root of this belief system is the idea of channeling. This can be interpreted two ways. Some use it to mean channeling your own deep-seated ideas and desires, while others see it as channeling other spirits or entities that have some sort of knowledge to impart. Many use it to mean both types of channeling.</p>
<p>Also at the heart of this conscious way of living is the belief that we all create our own reality, even though we don’t realize it. So that when something bad happens to you, it was actually your choice to have that thing happen.</p>
<p>If you are born into poverty for instance, many hardcore believers in conscious creation will tell you that you made those choices, even before you were physically born onto the earth, to experience poverty.</p>
<p>If you suffer serious illness, believers will tell you that you have brought that into your life through choice, whether you know it or not. But that by gaining control of your reality, you can change things and bring what you want into your life, whether it’s health, prosperity or overall happiness.</p>
<p>Through the act of deliberate creation, you start each day with a goal. Rather than the goals you might wake up to now like getting the kids to school on time or completing a project at work, you look at the bigger picture. Those will still be part of your goals of course, your daily life must continue. But you will choose different goals that will help define your reality.</p>
<p>The first step in creating your own reality is through your beliefs. Let’s say that right now you believe that most people are selfish and only out to get what they can for themselves without regards to other people. Your belief is creating that reality in your life, so most people in your life will be just this way.</p>
<p>If you shift your belief to one that says that most people are good at heart and want to do the right thing, most people in your life will fit that description. If you believe that you will never get out of debt, you probably never will. But if you wake up each day using conscious creation to believe you will get out of debt, you can make it happen.</p>

<p>By learning how to make natural beauty products of your own, you will be helping the environment, along with saving money.  Most of the commercial cosmetic products on the market include some type of chemical or detergent.  When this is washed off your skin or thrown in the trash, these chemicals and toxins can get into the water supply.  Making your own natural beauty products out of common household items is a much greener solution.</p>
<p>Some common kitchen items that can be used to make natural beauty products are Epsom salt, bananas, honey, oatmeal, olive and vegetable oils, yogurt, mayonnaise.  This is just a short list of household products that can be used for skin or hair care.  There are quite a few other natural products that can do wonders for your appearance.</p>
<p>There are two common ingredients that you probably will not have on hand when you are learning how to make natural beauty products.  These are beeswax and natural soap bars.  Beeswax and other natural waxes can be found at health food stores, soap making shops, and some craft stores.  For those allergic to bees, there are other vegetable- and flower-based waxes to choose from.</p>
<p>Olive oil is a very versatile home remedy that can be used for a number of natural beauty purposes.  It will moisturize the dry skin of your elbows, cuticles, knees, and feet.  Olive oil can be added to a warm bath for even more moisture and softness.  For dry hair or scalp, simply massage the oil directly in with your hands.</p>
<p>You can even make your own natural exfoliating treatment from olive oil.  Mix the oil with twice as much brown sugar to create a thick paste.  Use this paste as a pre-shower skin treatment by rubbing gently into the skin.  Rinse thoroughly in the shower to remove all paste and any dead skin cells that may have been scraped off.</p>
<p>If you have bananas on hand, you can also use those as a moisturizer for dry and cracked skin.  Mash a ripe banana until it becomes a paste that is smooth enough to apply to your face or hands.  Let the paste soak in for about ten minutes, then rinse off and pat dry.  For added moisturizing, add in a teaspoon of olive oil before applying to dry, parched skin.</p>
<p>These are just a few of the beauty products you can make at home without spending much money.  Other great home remedies include facial cleansers, herbal bath soaks, skin butter, and natural body scrubs.  Most of these recipes can be made with simple ingredients that you already have at home.  Now that you know how easy it is, jump right in and learn how to make natural beauty products of your own.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Taking care of our body is important because we want to have a long and happy life. Taking care of the mind is equally important and that&#8217;s why you will find so many messages out there about brain exercises and finding new ways to think. In order to gain the most from these forms of activities though you need to take a close look at your lifestyle habits. If you take part in those that are preventing your brain from being as healthy as possible then now is the time to stop.</p>
<p>Too much stress is very damaging to the brain as a whole. When you are under too much stress you aren’t going to be able to focus your attention where it needs to be. You will also not be in the best of moods to encourage your mind to develop positive memories from various situations. When you have too much stress your brain produces large amounts of cortisol as well. This can make you feel very sluggish and it can cloud your judgment.</p>
<p>Getting adequate rest is another area where many people don’t make the grade. It can be hard to get everything done in a single day that we need to. People tend to take on more and more these days. Yet you do have to take care of your basic needs properly if you want to accomplish anything the next day. A healthy mind starts with getting enough sleep each night. Try to get into a routine of going to sleep at the same time and waking up at the same time each day. This will help your mind be well rested for what it needs to process when you are awake.</p>
<p>Making a commitment to exercise at least 30 minutes each day is also important. You want to do this for your physical health. However, it is also going to impact your brain and your mental well being. Don’t make excuses that you can’t find the time to do it. Make sure you know your own fitness level and that you don’t go beyond that.</p>
<p>When you take part in physical exercise more oxygen gets to the brain. This will create chemicals that protect the brain cells. As a result you will be less likely to suffer from mental health problems and memory loss. You will also have a better attitude and more energy.</p>
<p>Avoid common harmful activities such as consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Both of them will reduce the amount of oxygen that gets to the brain. As you make a commitment to eliminate such lifestyle choices from your daily routine you will find that your efforts to maintain a healthy mind are going in the right direction.</p>
<p>Take a close and personal assessment of your own habits and lifestyle. Make those changes that need to be in place so that you are going to live a long and healthy life. Too many people don’t think these aspects of their live really matter but they definitely do. There is plenty of scientific evidence to show that when these elements aren’t in place it is harder to maintain a healthy mind. You may be trying your best in some areas but without all of them there will be key pieces of the puzzle missing.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A panic attack may happen once without any problem or complications. And there&#8217;s almost no reason to be concerned if you have one or two episodes. But those who have experienced several episodes usually develop a panic disorder.</p>
<p>Listed below are some triggers that may cause panic attacks and they may have different effects on different people. It may only take one trigger to cause a panic attack while someone else may require several triggers in order to literally lose it. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s also important to note that some symptoms of panic attacks may also be a sign of other medical conditions. So it&#8217;s important to precisely pinpoint the cause of the symptoms in order to know which type of treatment is necessary.</p>
<p>Phobia – People who are exposed to certain situations or objects they are afraid of will often experience a panic attack.</p>
<p>Passiveness –  Evidence supports the idea that passiveness as a result of fear (sometimes unexplained), low self-esteem and self-confidence is consistent with a person experiencing episodes of panic attack.</p>
<p>Hyperventilation syndrome – Mouth breathing and over-breathing or exhaling more carbon dioxide with respect to the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream can result in symptoms including dizziness, lightheadedness, and rapid heartbeat. These symptoms, in turn trigger panic attacks.</p>
<p>Benzodiazepines – Drugs such as benzodiazepines are prescribed to treat the symptoms of panic attacks.  Usually, the patient finds relief within 30 minutes after taking this drug. However, benzodiazepines are highly addictive and sometimes a rebound effect is common (a panic attack triggered by withdrawing from the drug).</p>
<p>Medications – There are certain drugs such as fluoroquinolone type antibiotics and Ritalin (methylphenidate) with panic attacks listed as a side effect. Attacks may be temporary, usually occurring when a patient begins medication but may continue occurring even if the patient is already accustomed to the drug. </p>
<p> Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or SSRIs boost the level of serotonin in the brain which regulates and normalizes emotions. However, intake of SSRIs can increase anxiety at the beginning of use. Panic attacks may even be more frequent for patients who wean on and off the medications</p>
<p>Biological causes – post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, Wilson&#8217;s disease, pheochromocytoma, hypoglycemia, mitral valve prolapse and labyrinthitis (inner ear disturbances) can manifest through panic attack. Vitamin B deficiency from periodic depletion because of parasitic infection from tapeworm or due to inadequate diet can trigger panic attacks.</p>
<p>Heredity – Children, whose parents have been found to suffer from panic disorder, are likely to experience or have panic attacks as well. In other words, inheritance plays an important role in determining who gets it. However, people with no family history can still develop a panic disorder.</p>
<p>Environment factors and upbringing – People who grew up overly cautious about their life and actions, and those who live in a very stressful environment, plus different traumatic experiences from the past are likely to have panic attacks.</p>
<p>Short-term triggering causes – Significant life changes, emotional trauma from a failed relationship, life transition, stimulants such as nicotine and caffeine, psilocybin, marijuana, and drugs can trigger panic attacks.</p>
<p>A person during an attack shows these signs and symptoms:</p>
<p>• Increased heartbeat or palpitation<br />
• Chest pain<br />
• Hyperventilation or shortness of breath<br />
• Stomach churning, upset stomach<br />
• Trembling and shaking<br />
• Muscle tension<br />
• Sweating<br />
• Dizziness and light-headedness<br />
• Hot or cold flashes<br />
• Tingling sensation or numbness<br />
• Fear of dying, going crazy or losing control<br />
• Feeling detached from the surroundings</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When I started this blog it was to have fun with and talk about my experiences in going to beauty school at the age of 45. Some how it turned into a lot of work when people in the industry wanted me to start looking up reciprocity information for them. There is a lot of information that I looked up and provided here over the past year, but people tend to ask the same things over and over instead of looking any further than the page that Google took them to. It got to the point that this blog became too much work and not enough fun any more so I stopped updating it.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m trying to figure out how to stop all comments for the time being because I feel guilty when I see a question from someone and all they need to do is go to that state board and find the answer themselves. All the links are provided in the sidebar please use them because information will not be updated here on a regular basis and you can always find the answer you are seeking by visiting the state site you are interested in or sending them a direct e-mail yourself or direct these questions if you&#8217;re in school to your Admin.</p>
<p>Many times I have stated that laws, rules, and regulations for any state may change at any time and I really don&#8217;t have the time or desire to look up all that information it&#8217;s simply too much work and I don&#8217;t want to do it. I simply want to have fun with this blog and make a couple dollars with it and not feel like it&#8217;s become a burden for me. If anyone has information that they would like to share about their state I will keep the comments open so you may do so, but I really don&#8217;t have the time to do research I hope you understand.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have you noticed that your mind tends to wander no matter what you are doing? Do you walk into a room only to forget why you even came in? You are not alone. This sort of absentmindedness plagues a huge percentage of the world’s population. It can be very frustrating, and so you should try to do your best to keep an alert mental state. There are many ways to do this, and if you are not taking advantage of any of them then you should start today. </p>
<p>Exercise is the one that you will hear the most. It is easy to get caught in a rut of going to work and then coming home and relaxing. Instead of sitting in front of the TV all night, why don’t you lift some weights or go for a run? Exercise releases chemicals into your brain to make you more alert, not only during the exercise, but for the rest of the day until you go to sleep. This is why so many people like to start off their days with a good run through the neighborhood. The type of exercise you choose will depend on what options are available to you.</p>
<p>Another way to increase mental alertness is to stimulate your mind at least once a day. It is very healthy to always teach yourself new things. Whether you sit down and read a science fiction book with interesting scientific theories, or you read a college textbook and discover new things about biology, there is everything to be gained from learning new things. Not only do you get to keep the great knowledge, but you also will sustain higher levels of alertness due to the effort that it takes to learn all of those things. So go to the library today and find a book that piques your interest.</p>
<p>A good amount of sleep is crucial to being mentally alert. If you are only getting 5 hours of sleep per night and you are complaining about being forgetful, then the answer is very obvious. All you need to do is sleep more. If you don’t give your mind enough time to recuperate, then you can expect to see a poorer performance. If your job requires you to get up early, then go to bed earlier. If you have too much to do, then all you need to do is plan your days out better so that you get things done more efficiently and leave more time to sleeping.</p>
<p>Ultimately the best thing to do is to combine these three methods to remain as mentally awake as possible. If you start to utilize all 3 of these, you should start seeing improvements in a matter of days. Hopefully you will stop losing things, stop forgetting important dates, and generally stop being so absentminded. If the problem persists, then you should talk to a doctor or a shrink about any stresses that could be causing you to mentally stray away from other areas in your life. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but you shouldn’t ignore the possibility.</p>
