VDL Foundation and CC cream

Hi! It's been soooo long since I last posted here... I'm hoping to post more stuff here in the future, a lot of backlogs actually... 😊

I have a new discovery! It's called VDL foundation and CC cream! I've tried them on (of course on separate occassion😄) and they're both great on my skin.

The CC cream applies on smoothly, it has a lght scent (which I'm very particular since I have allergic rhinitis...) It looks like your skin but better...

The store gave me samples which was really great so that at least consumers can try the products on first before buying the whole bottle to make sure that it suits their skin. Okay I will post a separate one for the foundation and primer... I am just on the road now (but I'm not driving! My husband is.. 😜)

SPRING 2014 BEAUTY TRENDS

Orange Lips and Tips

Bright, almost neon shades of orange will be the go-to hue for spring. Backstage at DKNY, Maybelline New York's Color Sensational Vivids Lipcolor in Electric Orange was applied to models' lips, then blotted for a matte, almost stained finish. Brows were groomed and shaped using the brand's Master Shape Brow Pencil. The rest of the face was left bare. "A flawless complexion is the perfect canvas for standout lips and clothes that steal the show," said makeup artist Charlotte Willer.

At SUNO, it was all about an electric pop of citrus on the nails. Models wore Maybelline New York's Color Show Nail Lacquer in Orange Fix, a bright tangerine shade. Backstage at Mara Hoffman, the same vivid hue was used to create a spectrum design on models' nails.

White Eyes

Backstage at Tibi, white eyes stole the show. Makeup artist Alice Lane used an angled shadow brush to draw Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow in Too Cool in a smooth, straight line across the upper lashline and out toward the temples. The shimmery white shade was also applied to the inner corners of the eyes, for an ethereal, fairy-esque look.

Nudes Nails

A major departure from the over-the-top nail art looks that have dominated recent seasons, the new nude nail is about an easy-glamour feel that is both fresh and modern. Models at Rachel Zoe wore Maybelline New York's Color Show Nail Lacquer in limited edition Lust for Buff, a gorgeous neutral hue that was hand-chosen for the show by Zoe herself. The universally flattering shade will be available for a limited time, beginning inMarch 2014.

Metallic Sheen

Metallic makeup is nothing new, but the look is refreshed with luminosity and lightened up for spring. These metallic touches are the "accessory" to an otherwise clean beauty look. At the Wes Gordon Show, makeup artist Alice Lane used Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Breaking Bronze to add a sheer wash of copper to models' eyelids. At Mara Hoffman, Lane used her fingertip to apply Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Pink Rebel,swiping it onto models just before they hit the runway, as a glamorous finishing touch.

No Fuss Makeup

Backstage at the SUNO and Wes Gordon shows, makeup artist Alice Lane played with texture and gloss. She used Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched on models' eyelids to add a luminous, light-catching glow. Lane used the term "fresh grunge" to describe the no fuss makeup look. "There's a nod to grunge in that everything is slightly undone and nothing's too perfect. But it's cleaner and more wearable, for a sophisticated woman," she said.

I have been so curious in trying this Real Techniques makeup brushes. I thought they were expensive and I was so delighted to find out that they're affordable! So I tried the expert face brush first and I fell inlove!!! ❤

It applies foundation seamlessly, cream blushes wonderfully and even powder makeups!

In my wishlist right now is the Limited Edition Duo-Fibre brushes!!!! 💕💕💕

I can't wait to get my hands and face on them! 😉

Starting Over Again...

No this is not about Natalie Cole's song and it's not all about beauty either. Although my blog is about beauty and style. This is about me and a little but about my life. I just want to share this with you because you might learn a thing or two or you may want to drop me head first from on top of a high building....

Anyway I have the typical got married early story so nothing new there... I am an undergrad of Dentistry, my friends say I'm very talented because I sing, dance, act and I can perform all of it on stage. I am the typical "Jill of all trades."

I am an organized person who doesn't like routines ( 'cause it's boring!) but I realized how important routines are now that I'm a mom.

I always have setbacks in my life, made the wrong turn, stumbled and all that but I never gave up no matter how much I wanted to. I wanted a lot of things but I never really appreciate what I have and some of those things, I then eventually acquire because of positive thinking I guess, or wanting it too badly! Also because of my husband! 😊

Whenever I have setbacks or difficulties, I always blame others. They maybe the reason, the one who triggered it or did something to make me feel disappointed.

For some reason I envy a lot of successful mothers... I know they have a lot going on in their lives and it's not perfect but they're syccessful both financially and in their family lfe.

I don't have a career nor a formal business... I am not even that fit mom compared to others. But I guess that's the challenge?! I have a few setbacks and it stopped me from growing, unfortunately time doesn't stop... It won't wait for you to get back on your feet.

I saw Brooke Burke's interview today and I was half inspired, half enviious and half disappointed of myself. Well simply because I am not even 1/4 of her... So I hope I will be able make all of my dreams come true this year! 😊

Primer

I haven't tried all the "Primers" in the makeup world but so far I have found some that are wonderful and great for my skin. They're a bit expensive for everyday use but they're worth it. First one is Shu Uemura UV Underbase Mousse in Pink.

It's really great for the skin alone! Makes your skin look fresh, dewey and bright. With foundation, of course makes your foundation (even the cheapest ones!) last longer. Even just plain powder on top if you're a bit oily.

The second one and the one I usually use when the weather is really weird. When it's sunny then in a few hours it's going to rain!

MAC Prep + Prime really does it's job. Although one thing I don't like about it is its consistency, it's a bit runny, the product and the liquid is separated but it's a great product.

Aerin Beauty

I came across this brand Aerin a couple if days ago and I even posted it on my instagram.. I got curious not just because of their wonderful colours, but it's my youngest daughter's second name.
I searched it on the internet and true enough it's Aerin Lauder's make up line! I am so excited to get some for myself! It would really be interesting!

The Runways have been keen on making their spring fashion show a blast! And we see different makeup looks and statements on the Runway! The top make up trends from New York fashion week (which I absolutely adore!!!) are Vibrant green and orange eyemakeup with Karen Walker models. Ohne Titel does tangerine matte lips... (Hello MAC Lady Danger, So Chaud & Morange). Bright lip hue in Hot Pink for Diane Von Furstenberg... You can use Nars Schiap, MAC's Girl About Town or Full Fuchsia!
Monique Lhuillier models sported a graphic inky black cat-eye liner... Best to use are Gel Eyeliners, Bobbi Brown, MAC's fluidline or Maybelline gel liner. Models of Michael Kors mixed shimmery metallics and smudged black eyeshadows that is winged out as well. Kenneth Cole used dark lips and dark liners. A two-toned lip in ox-blood color with a nude nail polish for Rachel Zoe, while Zac Posen used a brick pencil topped with plum lipcream for a glossy finish...

The Odbo BB cream

When my husband came home from Korea, he bought me 2 BB Creams (missha and Odbo) as pasalubong. The first one I've tried is the Odbo as per my husband's request. He was curious because they told him that it adjusts to all skintones and all wonderful descriptions... So I tried it and at first, I don't see any difference from the BB cream I'm currently using... So I just let it settle first and voila! It really looks so nice on my skin! And the whole day my skin looks fresh even if I hadn't had that much sleep.

I just bought a stash of NYX Round Lipsticks a week ago. I was too busy to try on all of them to post it here in my blog.. Anyway, I researched about them and looked at the swatches on the internet. So first, I tried on this Nyx RLS Black Cherry lipstick. On the pictures I saw, it looks red, deep dark red so when I tried it on, I was surprised that it looked a bit red-purplish on my lips... So I guess it really depends on your skin tone and natural lip color how the lipstick will look on you. Sparkle and Dazzle at Shu Uemura Alabang

It's been a very long time since I haven't posted on my blog... been very busy lately.... I will go into that some other time.
I was very lucky to be able to join the Shu Uemura Sparkle and Dazzle Make up competition (for aspiring MUA's)
I get to try some of their wonderful products such as the Face Architect Mousse Foundation and The Face Architect Foundation. The former, is like putting on the UV Mousse primer, you have to be quick because it dries up quickly, the foundation will be great addition to the make up kits of people who tends to have an oily skin... I loved the Face Architect Foundation, it glides on smoothly with a wide array of shades... Enough of that, I'm actually here to talk about their new eyeshadow product... the powders capture light, absorbing and reflecting it for a multi-dimensional effect. That's why they called their competition, Sparkle and Dazzle.. The eyeshadow goes on smoothly and it has a really nice texture...

My inspiration was candy colored cupcakes because my beautiful model is a superb baker! It's super light in pictures, I don't know why we couldn't capture the real colors... It's wonderfully good enough to eat tinker bell look! =)

It is a nice colorful make up which you can wear everyday... I used IR Pink 115, ME soft pink 155, P soft blue green 540 and P light green 520 (I'm unsure of the shades of the greens though..) for the eyes. A pop of Pink blusher (sorry, I forgot the number.) As for the lips, I mixed Rouge Unlimited PK335 and PK346.

Love the new eyeshadows that I got from Shu Uemura Alabang!!!

I have been meaning to post this for a while now, unfortunately due to my kids' busy

schedules, I wasn't able to.

I took up Comprehensive Make up training at Suesh in Greenhills and I have learned a lot

during that 15hour class. As our teacher said: Practice makes perfect. Hopefully I'd be able

to practice not just on my face but on others as well! =)

In search of a NEW BLUSH

It's been awhile since I have written anything here... Anyway, I just want to share with you some make up expedition that I had.... a few days ago. I went to The newly renovated Rustan's in Shangrila Plaza. Unfortunately, no pictures simply because we forgot to take them! Weird right?

So I went to Benefit's counter and started trying on their make ups and stuff. I haven't tried any of their products ever. I usually use Clinique, MAC and Shu Uemura cosmetics.
I fell in love with their blushes and bronzers! Of course I tried the ever famous Benetint... It really goes well with their Coralista Blush especially if you have tanned skin. Bella Bamba is the one that I coveted.... Love love love at first sight! =)

I don't really like wearing make up because it's really hot plus the make up will just melt with the heat and my sweat. I'm also with my 1 year old daughter and I don't like my make up transferring on her skin. So I forgo with the foundations and powder, I just applied an eyeliner, mascara and a cream blush (if I'm not lazy to do it).

Back to Benefit.... Bella Bamba is perfect for my skin tone and also even if you apply it without foundation and face powder, It really looks great! I promise, I will post pictures once I have put it on my face, hopefully soon!

"We can only speculate it is money well spent... Aniston was voted "Hottest Woman of All Time", by Men's Health magazine, in March.

Her obsession with skin care runs deep. Apparently, if she had not become an actress, the girl who played Rachel Greene on the hit sitcom would have been a dermatologist.

"I'd love to be a dermatologist. I'd be so obsessive about it. I'm fascinated by skin, products and lasers. I go on the internet and read all about it. I call it 'laser porn," Aniston told the Sun.

How to Pick the Perfect Bronzer

It's summer once again and as the climate changes our skin tone and needs change as well. For example, we use a different foundations in the summer and during the cold season, but that's another story...
Some women would rather fake it than bake in the sun (due to health reasons, and some just doesn't like it.)
So here's an article about Bronzers How To...

Nothing channels a summery state of mind like a sun-kissed complexion. A quick sweep of bronzer warms up the skin, and creates a flawless canvas like Jennifer Lopez‘s or Jennifer Aniston‘s. Like foundation, it evens out your skin tone and masks imperfections in a warm veil of luminosity. Find out how to create a natural bronzy glow, and how to pick your perfect color.

The Basic Tips:

• For a Kim Kardashian-esque complexion, apply bronzer where the sun would naturally hit. Swirl a powder brush into

the product and sweep over the cheeks, bridge of the nose, and forehead.
• Create a more contoured look by focusing on the hollows of your cheeks, but be sure to blend so the effect is subtle

not sharp.

Problem: I can't find a shade for my fair skin.

If you have very light skin like Elizabeth Banks, it's important to choose a bronzer that isn't too dark or orange—both can make pale skin look muddy. A formula with flecks of golds and apricots brings out the natural warmth in your skin. Use your finger to dab on extra gold to the tops of cheekbones.

Problem: I can't find a shade for my dark skin.

For darker skin tones like Kelly Rowland's, illuminate your complexion with a rich, shimmery bronzer. Pick a formula that's dark, sheer, and faintly iridescent—this will bring out your bone structure without looking chalky. We love MAC's Powder Blush in Format ($20; maccosmetics.com), a deep sienna with just a hint of copper.

Problem: It doesn't look natural on me.

Try out a matte powder like Benefit's Hoola($28; benefitcosmetics.com/P1800;Benefit Greenbelt 5) or NARS's Laguna ($34; narscosmetics.com/ P1450; Nars, Rustan's). The shimmer-free powder mimics the magic worked by sun's rays, and creates sculpted cheekbones with ease. Problem: How can I keep my skin from looking flat?

Blend onto your eyes, lips, and cheeks before a party, but for daytime wear, swipe just along your cheekbones. When to toss your Makeup Product

Cosmetics and skincare products, like all good things, don't last forever. In fact, the very second that you break open the seal of your recently purchased beauty loot, its expiration starts ticking. "But I've been using this tried-and-tested blush for the longest time, and its manufacturer has stopped producing this shade, so I still use this three-year-old product," said another of my makeup clients. I inspected the scratchy compact and its cracked and dry powder-based contents. "Throw it," I said. "Your skin will thank you for it."

As a general rule the drier the formula of the makeup (powder, pencils), the longer its shelf life. Conversely, the more cream- or liquid-based it is, the quicker it is to spoil. Here is the average amount of time your cosmetics should stay on your vanity table or your makeup kit:

Mascara and liquid eye liner: half a year

Creamy lipsticks, lip colors in pots, lip-gloss: 2 years

Pencils for eyes, eyebrows, and lips: 3 years

Powder-based products like loose powder, pressed powder, blusher, and eye shadow: 2 years

Liquid and cream products like cream foundation, mousse products (like primer and foundation), gel-based items like blush and eye liner, liquid liner, highlighter): 1 year

Body lotion and shower gel: 3 years

Anti-aging cream: 3 months to 1 year.

If you don't remember when you bought the beauty product, that's a pretty good indication of a purchase made long ago. To determine if your beauty goodies need to be tossed, do any (or all) of the S-tests:

1. Smell it. Does it still smell the same way it did when you first got it? If you don't remember, then at least determine if it smells good or bad. If it smells sour or has a pungent odor, bid it goodbye.

2. Scrape it. Really old powder-based products develop a fine film on its surface, making it even more dry. If this is the case, then it's time you throw it away.

3. Study its texture. If it's cracked and has a different shade than when you first bought it, or its color has changed, chuck it.

The reason you don't want to hold on to such old cosmetics is they become breeding ground for bacteria, which could make you break out, get an allergic reaction, or even get infections, especially if you use water when applying your makeup.

To avoid second-guessing your makeup shelf life, the next time you buy beauty products, follow these easy tips:

1. Write down when you bought it/started using it. Use a marker to write it down at the bottom of the item, or stick a piece of tape that has the month and year you first wore it.

2. Avoid dipping wet brushes in your powder-based makeup (a very old trick to make the makeup last longer on you). The moistness in the palette becomes very attractive to bacteria.

3. Wash your makeup brushes and sponges regularly, and dry them properly. Your skin's natural oils stick to the brush bristles, again making it ideal breeding conditions for bacteria.

4. Pick up the product with clean hands or use clean tools like makeup brushes and sponges to avoid transferring dirt and bacteria to your cosmetics.

Apply a khol eyeliner across the waterline, both upper and lower, and then use the eyeliner to create an 'egg shape' across the lid, over which you will press glitter on using a brush. Swap away any stray glitter to create a perfect shape using a clean makeup brush and finish the look with plenty of mascara. Because of the high intensity, glitzy-glam finish, this makeup look is definitely a party makeup look.

Graphic eye makeup has a certain vintage elegance behind it, so it is a look that mixes elegance with edginess. The new season has placed plenty of accent on this look as it is sexy and not too difficult to obtain. Achieve the look by applying a nude eye makeup base on the eyelid and look down before you start to line the upper eyelid starting from the inner corner of the eye, working your way towards the outer corner. Before reaching the outer corner flick the line upwards to create a cool cat-eye effect and work your way back to intensify the look. Finish the look by pulling the skin gently diagonally upwards around temple level and line the lower eye lid starting from the outer corner towards the center of the eye diagonally and coat your eyelashes with a heavy coat of mascara.

Sculpted eye makeup is all about fierce sexiness and style, so achieve this amazing makeup look by an eyeshadow base across the eyelid. Use a black eyeliner pencil to define the eyes by sweeping gently the eyeliner across the lashline, smudging the line through with your finger or an angled brush. Line the outer corner of the eye gently up and then curve the line back around into the crease to give the look more oomph and blur-out the effect using a blending brush. Once you have created the effect apply 'a taupe eyeshadow across the lid and up to the brow, pressing a deep-grey shade of shadow over the kohl arc'. Finish the look by curling your eyelashes and coating them using a black colored mascara.
