Had to miss last Thursday’s update due to the day-job saddling DK with some unexpected extra hours. Updated the last post to reflect as much, but I guess I didn’t delete/refresh the cache as the post didn’t seem to update until I did so last night. Sorry about that. Everything’s on schedule this week though.

Anyway…Happy Anniversary to Us! Today marks the second anniversary of the site going live. And we’re celebrating in style: an all new webcomic! That’s right, the spin-off series is now live and updating! Just a cover for today’s launch, but then story pages on Weds., Thurs. & Friday of this week before we settle in to our regular Wednesday schedule next week. You can give it a look, or bookmark it for when there’s something a bit more substantial there, by clicking on the image below.

More big news that isn’t really related to The Becoming or anything to do with us, but Clockworks – one of my fave steampunk flavored webcomics – has begun updating again after a year long hiatus. The creator, Shawn, is a super cool guy who helped us out by pimping our comic on his site when we first launched. Please help us return the favor and welcome him back by checking it out HERE.

As I’ve been busy this last week, I haven’t had a chance to finish the new installment of “The Delinquent”, which is just sad when you see how little work there is to this page, but I hope to sneak it up in the next few days. So, uh, just vote for us daily until it magically appears. Yeah…that’s it.

So it looks like livestreams are not in the cards for us. Despite much tweaking and tinkering with settings, we’ve come to the conclusion that our connection just isn’t good enough to pull off a decent stream. Maybe someday that will change, but for now at least, it looks like we’ll be sticking with the videos.

The video below starts off in some iffy quality and at a much smaller size as it was recorded during our streaming attempt last week. Give it a minute or so for a jump in overall quality to match that of previous videos.

No BTS videos this week and for good reason – DK forgot to record it! Oh well, livestreams start in a couple weeks anyway so we’re re-evaluating how often we’re going to do videos and streams from here on anyway. Feel free to weigh in in the comments below.

Plans are underway for a new vote incentive comic that we’re hoping to have up and running in Feb. While essentially free of the kind of “mythology” found in The Call, it’ll tie more directly into current (and future) events and take place in the modern day setting of Bellac. Sometime around the start of Ch. 2…

While on the subject of February, the Spin-Off goes live on Feb. 22nd, rolling out the first 5 pages to start and then once a week, every Wednesday thereafter.

Yep, year 3 is shaping up to be a pretty cool one.

2012

Starting in February we’ll be broadcasting Livestreams while DK works on The Becoming. We’re still working out some details there, but we’ll post more info as soon as we’ve got it all worked out. We’ll also be, starting this week, posting BTS timelapse videos of DK working on the comic as we’ve done a couple times in the past. We’re always getting requests for more of those videos so we’ve decided to just make it a regular feature.

However, the big news is that, also starting in Feb., we’ll be returning to UPDATES TWICE A WEEK – MONDAYS & THURSDAYS.

And…AND…sometime in February we’ll also be launching the spin-off comic, The Ne-er-do-wells in which we chronicle the exploits of a travelling medicine show as they attempt to pimp a “cure” for that nasty infection we’re always hearing about – however, there may be a more sinister purpose behind these hucksters actions…

We’ve got a FB Fanpage setup for the new series that I’ve posted a few WIP shots in. You can check it out here: Ne’er-do-wells FB Page. Be forewarned, I’m nowhere near as talented and skilled as DK, so the art is going to be rougher than what you’re used to here. But I’m hoping with constant practice I’ll be able to refine my abilities into something passable. Gotta have hope, yeah?

In the past I’ve mentioned how it’s a spin-off that shares a world with The Becoming if not it’s characters…well…that’s changed now. Someone will be leaving Bellac and setting up permanent shop in the spin-off. They’ll be sticking around here until we start Vol. 2 at which point he or she will then meet up with Doctor Gilliam’s tiny band of scoundrels. Feel free to take a guess, but I obviously can’t confirm or deny anything yet. Especially given the circumstances leading to this character’s departure….
