DK was unable to finish 136 on time due to other obligations. I’m finishing it up now and the final colored version should be up sometime on Thurs. Right now I’m posting the lineart with temporary lettering in place til that time.

The two pages that follow 136 are ALREADY FINISHED and WILL be up on time.

I’ll be going back to my normal hours at work in another week or so and should be able to get these up on time a little better. While DK isn’t able to make a full comeback quite yet, she’s going to start providing me with roughs that I can then “civilize” a bit with the hope of the comic looking a touch more consistent. The next page, however, is all her.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells will return on the 30th in case anyone was wondering. Anyone? No? Well, it’s still coming back on the 30th anyway.

Apparently, there was a horrible miscommunication between DK and myself about Page 136. It won’t be ready for a Friday update this week and has now been re-scheduled for Monday instead. On the brighter side of things, Page 137 is done and I’m already working on the update after that. It looks like, following Monday, we’ll finally have some consistency with the update schedule again.

4.18.2012 EDIT: Apologies, this page was supposed to have gone live last Monday and for whatever reason it didn’t upload successfully and I didn’t catch it.

We need to take a brief intermission but will resume on April 30th.

In the meantime, here is a”new” character design by DK to enjoy. I say “new” because it’s actually pretty old, but I don’t think it’s ever been posted before. At least not here.

Anyway, this particular character is in charge of “recreational services” on the 2nd floor of Hooligans. Originally planned to be introduced in vol. 1, we decided to hold her back until Vol. 2 due to an already overcrowded cast. Watch for her to cross paths with Percy in Vol. 2. It should be…interesting.

So, I took pages 133 & 134 and tried to smoosh them together so we can finally get through this chapter. Admittedly, it didn’t quite yield the results I’d hoped for, but I think the gist of it is there. At least, I hope, anyway.

At some point, when I have the time, I plan to go back and make Panel 1 on this page a proper establishing shot. As it is right now, there is a bit of a disconnect from the previous pages to this one and the flow is completely botched. Adding “redraw panel 1, pg 132 as est.” to my “to-do” list right now…

I apologize for the tardiness of this update, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes over the last few days and we’ve been waiting for some arrangements to get confirmed so I could update this post with all the details as accurately as possible so everyone would know what’s up right off and not be surprised when they come to the site next week and see Page 132 drawn by me and freak out by DK’s absence.

Long and short of it is that DK is going to have to take a brief hiatus from the comic to be with her family for the next few weeks. Unfortunately, for you and me, it’s uncertain how long she’ll need to be there, but right now it’s looking like it may be up to a month. This is one of those things that is absolutely unavoidable and I hope everyone understands. It’s family and that takes priority over pretty much everything else.

We talked about it for a bit and decided that instead of a fill-in or interlude, I’d just take over for the next few weeks and hope you guys can just solider through it while waiting for her to return. She’s got a few days before her flight and she’s going to try to cram in a page or two, pages 134 & 135, if possible by that time. So, cross your fingers, there should be that to look forward to.

Now, just to be perfectly clear: The schedule won’t be affected and, in fact, the only thing it will affect is The Ne’er-Do-Wells won’t be going to a 2x a week schedule just yet and, well, you guys kinda have to suffer through my art for a few weeks. I promise to give it my best shot though.

Something I’ve been meaning to mention the last several weeks is a ginormous THANK YOU for the donations over the last couple months. It doesn’t matter if you donated $1 or $2, you guys paid for our hosting the last few months and with ad revenues tanking over 1st quarter woes, we really needed it! We humbly bow before your generosity.

I’ll see what I can do to get a new vote incentive up asap, but right now I’m thinking about doing something a little different….we’ll see how things go over the next week and if I can find the time to do it right. As always, I’ll post the arrival of a new vote incentive in the chatbox and on our FB Fanpage.

As you can see, we’ve added a new “Previously in..” feature to help inform new updates each week. This will hopefully cut down on some confusion without requiring you to go back through the archive trying to make heads or tails of a story thread that you may have forgotten since it was posted months ago – or longer.

We’ve decided to discontinue the vote incentive comic due to the simple fact that our TWC Ranking has actually gotten worse since it started up. We’re back to posting the lineart for the most recent page instead since that seemed to be more of a crowd pleaser.

We’ll be continuing the once-a-week schedule this week with an eye on next week to resume twice weekly. Ne’er-Do-Wells, in turn, will move to twice weekly with an update on Wednesday and Friday this week, and each week thereafter that the Becoming remains on the once-a-week schedule in an attempt to balance things out for you guys. Some of you may say, “But I don’t read Ne’er-Do-Wells so that doesn’t help me” and to you I say, “well, you should.”. :p

We had to stop production on this page last week as we decided to adopt and take in a very sick cat that needed a lot of care and our days and nights have been very busy due to this new addition to the family. I’m happy to report that she’s doing much better and we’re able to get a little sleep here so hopefully we’ll be back on a functioning schedule soon. Oh, and if anyone’s interested, DK’ll post some pics of our new addition on FB later.

For those animal lovers out there, we ask you to consider donating blankets, pet food, gas cards, money, just whatever you can to your local non-kill animal shelters. They need your support to be able to continue. We lost ours and you may be in danger of losing yours as well.

Anyway, back to the comic…

Didn’t really think we would fool anyone with that last page, but it was nice to see a few of you guys throw Percy some support. He usually comes in toward the bottom of our popularity polls (or tops “least favorite”) when we’ve taken surveys in the past. However, that’s a wrap for Mr. Pardy in this volume. His story will continue in Vol. 2, but for now, we’ve got other characters who need their moment to shine – since it might very well be their last.

DK’s still sick so I’m doubtful that we’ll have a Thursday (or Friday) update this week. I think Monday is probably more realistic. I’ll wait and see what DK says when she’s up and how she’s feeling and then I’ll update this post then with something more concrete.

UPDATED: She’s going to give it a shot. Don’t expect it before noon on Thursday though.
