Fort Collins, CO – On May 13th, 2013, American Craft Beer Week, a celebration of the more than 2,400 small and independent American craft brewers, will kick off around the country. The brewers of Fort Collins have once again united for the weeklong celebration over a shared passion for craft beer in the spirit of camaraderie.

Undaunted by a challenge, Fort Collins’ craft brewers opted for a unique format for collaborating. The 2013 Collaboration began with the local craft brewers forming nine teams of three and deciding on one recipe containing 90% of same malts for each brew. The remaining 10% malt, hops, yeast and spices were selected by each brewing team. The result is nine very unique beers from one common starting point, much like the brewers that crafted them.

The various versions of this year’s Fort Collins Collusion will be on tap during American Craft Beer Week (May 13-19). Fort Collins beer enthusiasts are encouraged to come out and try the different brews at each brewery throughout the week.

On Monday, May 13th, the brewers will be meeting at Black Bottle Brewing Co. for a group toast. All nine beers will be available side by side for one evening only. Join Fort Collins’ Craft Brewers in celebration with their Collaboration Confabulation!

Blue Point Brewing Company, together with seven local breweries and Long Island beverage distributor Clare Rose, Inc. are proud to announce that proceeds from the Sandy Relief Beercollaboration were donated to Long Island Cares, Inc. and Barrier Brewing Company at a presentation at Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue on May 8, 2013.

A relief effort by eight local breweriesafter Hurricane Sandy devastated Long Island and destroyed Barrier Brewing Company in Oceanside, Sandy Relief Beer participating brewers initially gathered at Blue Point Brewing Company on December 04, 2012, to brew Surge Protector Sandy Relief Ale, an India Pale Ale, to raise proceeds for victims of Hurricane Sandy and the recovering brewery. The breweries collaborated on the recipe and each donated an ingredient for the special batch of beer.

Sandy Relief Ale was released on January 22, 2013, in 22-ounce commemorative bottles to Suffolk and Nassau beer shops and on draft in bars across Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and The Bronx. The proceeds from beer and merchandise sales along with retailer event fundraising netted $58,000 through March of this year. Long Island Cares, Inc. and Barrier Brewing Company each received checks for $29,000 from Clare Rose, which spearheaded the effort and handled all distribution and sales of the beer.

Paule Pachter, Long Island Cares’ Executive Director said “It’s wonderful to know that all of the donations we’ve received, both from the public and organizations, have gone directly into the hands of those who are still struggling to recover from the effects of Hurricane Sandy seven months after it struck. This additional $29,000 allows us to go back into the affected communities to help people replace their belongings and put their lives back together. As Surge Protector’s label states, ‘We’re rebuilding Long Island with beer.’”

Participating breweries included: Barrier Brewing Company, Blind Bat Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, Great South Bay Brewery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, Long Ireland Beer Company, Port Jeff Brewing Company, and Spider Bite Beer Company.

Additional donors to the cause included keg collar printing by Heritage Tag and Label in Aurora, Colorado, bottle label printing by DWS Printing Associates in Deer Park, New York, and shirt screening by Ad Apparel Custom Screen Printing & Embroidery in Patchogue, New York.

(New Ulm, MN) May 04, 2013 - The August Schell Brewing Co., the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the country, brewer of Schell’s and Grain Belt, gave $11,000 to local charities at its annual Bock Fest thank you dinner last week.

Schell’s Bock Fest is an outdoor winter festival held every year at Schell’s Brewery. This year more than 5,000 people made the pilgrimage to enjoy the festivities including a search for the seven bocks of winter, live music and food. People line up along large fire pits manned by workers holding hot pokers for a chance to get their Bock beers caramelized, adding a sweet taste to an already delicious beer. Festers come together and leave as friends, with the only injuries being cold feet and fingers.

Last week marked the annual tradition from the Schell’s Brewery to give back to a community that gives so much to them. Flandrau State Park, the host of part of the celebration, received a check for $1,000. A second check for $3,000 was given to the New Ulm based Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. Every year at Bock Fest a barrel is placed by the exit for festers to throw their unused tickets. The brewery counts these tickets and matches their donation and gives it to the Brown County Food Shelf. This year’s donation to the food shelf was $3,000. Another $1,000 was given to the local Habitat for Humanity for their ongoing commitment to those in need in the New Ulm area. Finally, $3,000 was given to Soldiers Angels, an organization that provides emergency supplies to service members injured in combat.

About August Schell Brewing Company:
August Schell Brewing Company, located in New Ulm, MN, sits atop the same site it was built on in 1860. With its sprawling grounds, beautiful gardens, Schell Mansion, and deer park, the brewery is a tourist destination for any beer lover. Schell’s boasts a proud heritage of 153 years of continuous family ownership and specializes in craft beers. In addition to the line of specialty beers, Schell’s also produces Grain Belt Premium, Grain Belt Premium Light and Grain Belt Nordeast.
TAMPA, FLA (May 9, 2013) – World of Beer (WOB) a thriving beer-centric tavern boasting an extensive collection of brews from around the globe, is excited to announce a partnership with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery during American Craft Beer Week. World of Beer locations throughout the country will be tapping multiple Dogfish Head brews on the same day, with over 400 Dogfish Head beers on tap on Thursday, May 16.

Kicking off this exclusive event will be a virtual appearance by Dogfish Founder and President, Sam Calagione, on Thursday, May 16. Following this appearance will be a nationwide toast. This is the first time that World of Beer has participated in a multi-unit tap takeover like this.

Dogfish Head flights will be available to sample through a ‘Lil’ Shark Flight’ or a ‘Big Shark Flight’ which includes four beers. In addition to this event during American Craft Beer Week, World of Beer locations will be a host to a bounty of unique events throughout the week to celebrate American Craft Beer.

“World of Beer is thrilled to be partnering with Dogfish Head for this event,” said Beth Tierney, Director of Marketing for World of Beer Franchising, Inc. “We are excited to connect our locations nationwide and offer this new experience to celebrate American Craft Beer Week.”

The Dogfish Head Shark Attack is one of many World of Beer events focused on customer experience and the building of WOB Culture. This culture is centered around a global menu of beverages, live music and special events. This is truly ‘an off-centered event for WOB cultured people’.

World of Beer has just released the second phase of the WOB app, available on iPhone and Android operating systems. New features allow users to add tasting notes, find their favorite beer, manage loyalty club profiles, find a WOB location, view previously visited locations, and more. Customers are urged to download the app in preparation of American Craft Beer Week. It’s the WOB culture in the palm of your hand.

WOB was founded in Tampa, FL in 2007. There are 41 taverns open in 13 states (FL, AL, VA, TX, WI, OH, IL, NC, GA, AZ, CO, SC and WA). Locations to follow are Katy, TX and Ann Arbor, MI.

World of Beer Franchising: World of Beer is an uncommon establishment where the experience is as essential as the product. It is important that a broad spectrum of patrons, from the beer aficionado to the casual beer fan, can enjoy the best beers on the planet and increase their beer knowledge in a comfortable and upbeat setting. Visit www.wobusa.com.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery: Ever since the summer of 1995, DFH has been brewing, cooking, selling and talking everything beer. Their brews are distributed all across the country. They have grown extensively, and now house a distillery in addition to the brewery.

Hype Group: Hype Group is a full-service marketing, advertising and public relations agency.

Sierra Nevada and Boulevard recreate Terra Incognita for wider distribution

May 8, 2013 – Kansas City – Boulevard Brewing Company and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. today announced that Terra Incognita, their first commercial collaboration, will appear on retail shelves in June. The beer was originally brewed in very limited quantities for patrons of SAVOR, a Brewers Association event held last June in Washington D.C. Terra Incognita was so well received that the two companies decided to bring it back.

“We tried to create a beer that would highlight the strengths of each brewery – for us, our use of wild yeast and barrel aging, and for Sierra Nevada, their hop-centric talent and homegrown ingredients,” said Boulevard Brewmaster Steven Pauwels. “It turned out so well we felt it was only right to make more and share it.”

“The synergy between the two breweries was just too great to stop at SAVOR, “ said Sierra Nevada Head Brewer Steve Dresler. “This is a tough beer to dial in, but we have a lot of fun with the challenge and can’t wait to hear people’s take on round two.”

Terra Incognita, or “land unknown,” celebrates the unique terroir of Boulevard and Sierra Nevada, located at opposite ends of the California Trail (an overland wagon trail in the early 1800s of about 2,000 miles across the western half of the US from Missouri river towns to what is now the state of California). The dark brown ale has an ambitious grain bill, is assertively hopped, and is aged – one portion in old wooden wine foudres and another in used whiskey barrels – for nearly three months. The roasty bitterness blends with subtle notes of herb and spice to create a dry, balanced beer. Barrel aging adds aromatic accents, while bottle conditioning with Brettanomyces yields a uniquely funky, earthy finish.

This year the limited release beer was brewed and packaged at Boulevard. Approximately 5,200 cases of Terra Incognita will be released throughout the company’s 25-state distribution territory. The two breweries are already planning the 2014 version, which will be produced at Sierra Nevada and made available through its distribution network.

About Boulevard Brewing Company
Boulevard Brewing Company has grown to become one of the largest specialty brewers in the Midwest, dedicated to the craft of producing fresh, flavorful beers using traditional ingredients and the best of both old and new brewing techniques. Boulevard beers are distributed in 25 states and the District of Columbia. For more information, visitwww.boulevard.com, facebook.com/Boulevard, or follow the company on Twitter attwitter.com/Boulevard_Beer.

About Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
Founded in 1980, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is one of America’s premier craft breweries, highly regarded for using only whole-cone hops and the finest quality ingredients. The pioneering spirit that launched Sierra Nevada spans more than three decades, with innovation emerging from both the brewhouse and sustainability initiatives. Sierra Nevada has set the standard for artisan brewers worldwide as a winner of numerous awards for its extensive line of beers including Pale Ale, Torpedo®, Porter, Stout, Kellerweis® and a host of seasonal, specialty and limited release beers.

ST. LOUIS, May 7, 2013 - Stella Artois, the best-selling Belgian beer in the world, is introducing Stella Artois Cidre to the surging U.S. cider market.

Stella Artois Cidre is a crisp, distinctive European-style cider made with apples hand-picked from wine growing regions. Initially it will be available in 26 U.S. states, with further expansion possible in 2014. Sales to retailers begin on May 13.

Adam Oakley , vice president of import, craft and specialty brands at Anheuser-Busch, said the cider category is seeing 110 percent growth* in the United States, and this new brand helps to meet the growing demand for premium ciders with a more complex taste profile.

"Stella Artois Cidre is designed to be savored and is very different from sweeter, domestic U.S. ciders," Oakley said. "Stella Artois Cidre has the potential to change people's perceptions of cider here, offering a refreshing alternative to white wine."

With the U.S. cider market seeing triple-digit growth, it has become one of the fastest-growing beverage categories in the United States. Early growth in the category was driven primarily by sweeter domestic ciders; this has been balanced of late by a consumer demand for drier, premium European-style ciders. Stella Artois Cidre represents the finest of the latter category.

"Cider drinkers are now approaching cider with a sophistication similar to that of wine drinkers," said Marc Stroobandt , a Belgian master sommelier. "To capture their interest, ciders certainly need to be refreshing and savory, but people also want something a little more complex and distinct, which Stella Artois Cidre offers."

Stroobant said that similar to white wines, drier ciders such as Stella Artois Cidre are designed to be savored and pair well with chicken, fish and a broad selection of cheeses, including Camembert-style cheeses, English cheddars, semi-firm cheeses such as Gruyere and washed-rind cheeses. Stella Artois Cidre's tart profile also balances well with Asian and spicy foods and light salads.

Stella Artois Cidre will be fermented in Baldwinsville, New York, using apples picked from wine-growing regions in North andSouth America. At 4.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), Stella Artois Cidre is available in two packaging configurations: four-packs of 12-ounce bottles and single, 24-ounce bottles.

For more information, please visit www.stellaartois.com.

About Stella Artois

Stella Artois® is part of a Belgian brewing tradition dating back to 1366. It is the number one Belgian beer in the world and is present in over 80 countries. Stella Artois® is a bottom filtered, blonde pilsner. It is thirst quenching with a malty middle and crisp finish delivering a full flavor and a hint of bitterness. Stella Artois® is best enjoyed served between 3 and 5 degree Celsius and should be served in the unique Stella Artois® Chalice according to the 9-Step Pouring Ritual to guarantee a perfect experience of this gold standard lager. The star of the show is a new crop of “Victoria Secret” hop flowers from Australia. Along with Stella, Galaxy, and Summer hops from the fields of Tazmania, beer drinkers are in for a collaboration of intercontinental proportions. 8.0% ABV, 92 IBU, 1.072 Original Gravity.

TORONTO, May 7, 2013 - Every spring Canadians emerge from winter to embark upon a time-honoured tradition - the search for a sun-filled patio and a classic summer beverage.

This year, we're taking the guess work out with the launch of Rickard's Shandy™. Whether you're entertaining friends on the patio or relaxing on the dock, Rickard's Shandy™ is the perfect way to beat the summer heat.

Subtly sweet and light in texture, this classic lemonade and lager combination offers a crisp refreshing taste that is sure to please any palate. Brewed in Canada, Rickard's Shandy™ is made with no preservatives or artificial ingredients, as well as Rickard's™ own classically crafted lemonade.

The History

Enjoyed throughout Europe for centuries, a shandy is conventionally made with beer and lemonade. However, many varieties have been enjoyed over the years, often including citrus-flavored soda, lime, and ginger ale. Although the proportions and ingredients have varied over time, traditionalists have always considered the true shandy to be a mixture of fresh lemonade and finely brewed beer.

The Experience

Rickard's Shandy™ is a premium beverage made exclusively from premium ingredients. This commitment to quality is evident in every sip.

"When pouring a Rickard's Shandy™ you'll notice immediately the aroma of fresh squeezed lemons. The next thing that you'll notice is the colour which is slightly pale," says Gary Matthews , Rickard's™ Brewmaster. "This is produced when we add our classic lemonade to our premium lager beer, creating Rickard's Shandy™. This perfect balance creates a crisp, clean, refreshing finish."

Rickard's Shandy™ represents the perfect beverage for beer drinkers who crave variety, and new experiences. For the food lover, Rickard's Shandy™ also pairs wonderfully with seafood, chicken, salads, as well as just about anything that can be cooked on the barbecue.

"We pride ourselves on listening to our customers and offering them products that exceed their expectations," says Julie Sanchez , Senior Brand Manager, Rickard's™. "Canadians want versatility in their beer, which is why our skilled brew masters developed this standout-seasonal offering. We think Rickard's Shandy™ is the perfect blend of premium lager and classic lemonade and we're confident our drinkers will agree."

Package Formats and Pricing

Rickard's Shandy™ contains 4.5% ABV (alcohol by volume). It will be sold in the following formats, although package availability and pricing will vary by province:

6 X 341 ml bottles
473 ml cans
Draught

Rickard's Shandy™ will be available only in Canada at beer and liquor stores starting May 1, 2013.

Alabama Senate Passes Bill to Legalize Homebrewing

Boulder, CO • May 8, 2013—TheAmerican Homebrewers Association(AHA) is pleased to announce the Alabama legislature has passed a bill that, once signed by Governor Robert J. Bentley, will effectively legalize homebrewing throughout the state. Alabama will be the last state in the nation to legalize homebrewing.

"Homebrewing has been an integral part of the history of America, so it's thrilling to know that soon all 50 states will support this growing hobby and long-standing tradition," said Gary Glass, director, American Homebrewers Association. "We appreciate the backing of all of the homebrewers, the dedicated grassroots efforts of Right to Brew and the legislators who have worked so diligently to make homebrewing a reality in Alabama. We are especially grateful to Representative Mac McCutcheon who introduced this bill and has fought long and hard for its passage, along with Senator Bill Holtzclaw."

Alabama is the last state holding out against legalizing homebrewing. In March 2013, Mississippi became the 49th state to pass homebrew legislation. The AHA has been working with Right to Brew for five years in order to get the Alabama bill passed.

Homebrewing became federally legal in 1979, though the 21st Amendment predominantly leaves regulation of alcohol to the states. Therefore, even though homebrewing is federally legal, it is up to individual states to legalize homebrewing in state codes. Once the Alabama bill is signed by Gov. Bentley, it will be the first time since pre-Prohibition days that homebrewers in all the states can legally brew at home.

The hobby of homebrewing has seen exponential growth in recent years. The AHA estimates that more than one million Americans brew beer or make wine at home at least once a year. Alabama is home to an estimated 5,000 homebrewers who will soon enjoy brewing without the restrictions of a state-wide ban.

Baltimore, MD – Union Craft Brewing Company today announced the release of its two flagship craft beers in 12oz cans, Duckpin Pale Ale & the 2012 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winning Balt Altbier. These beers have become staples on draft at many Baltimore area bars & restaurants, and will be available in 12oz cans at local Baltimore city retailers this week, and throughout Maryland and Washington DC in the next few weeks.

Additionally, the brewing company has acquired three new 60 barrel tanks, increasing brewing capacity by 75%.

“Since day one, we have been working hard to get our beer in cans and into the hands of our local beer drinkers”, said Co-Founder, Adam Benesch. “By adding these new tanks, we can now produce enough beer to accommodate the growing demand of our draft and retail accounts.”

Co-Founder, Jon Zerivitz adds, “The can is the perfect package for our beer. It removes the threat of light and oxygen from affecting the quality of the beer and it can go places that glass cannot. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of the cans and are very excited to have them out in the Baltimore market.”

ABOUT UNION CRAFT BREWING COMPANY
Founded in 2011, Union Craft Brewing Company is situated along the Jones Falls river and was the first production brewery to open in Baltimore City in 30 years. The brewery’s onsite tasting room is open Saturday from 1-4PM for tours and tastings. www.unioncraftbrewing.com –@UnionBrewing - facebook

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Beachwood Brewing is set to release System Of A Stout, an Imperial Armenian Coffee Stout on May 24.

“System Of A Stout is far different than any other imperial stout I have brewed before,” says Beachwood Brewmaster Julian Shrago. “This bold brew allowed us to take a step in a new direction, the flavor and aroma is immediately recognizable.”

System Of A Stout is brewed with blackstrap molasses, green cardamom, and a custom Armenian coffee roast blend from Costa Mesa’s Portola Coffee Lab®. This big imperial stout is also aged in Armenian brandy oak adding an additional dimension of complexity.

“The first time we brewed this beer it was in such limited quantities and on draft. We’re very excited to be able to offer this beer again and look forward to reaching a larger audience with its bottled form”, concludes Shrago.

System of the Stout is the second bottled beer collaboration between Beachwood Brewing and Portola Coffee Lab. Beachwood Brewing’s first bottled beer Tovarish Russian Imperial Espresso Stout was released in December 2012.

“What we shot for was the flavor essence of [unfiltered] Armenian coffee without the gritty mouth feel,” says Portola Owner Jeff Duggan. “This objective led me to the selection of the two [direct trade Brazilian] coffees I chose to custom roast specifically for System Of A Stout.”

System of a Stout will be sold in 22 oz. bottles at finer craft beer retailers across Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties. The stout will also be available on draft at both Beachwood BBQ locations.

ST. LOUIS, May 7, 2013 - Landshark Lager is giving longtime and new fans of Zac Brown Band a unique, all-access pass to the band this summer. The Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band will be featured on special, limited-edition 16 oz. Landshark Lager cans. Three can designs will be released throughout the summer, with the first can hitting shelves nationwide today.

"We're always looking for new ways to connect with our fans," said Zac Brown . "We give them our all on stage every night and we hope the Landshark cans will give them another way to enjoy good times with us this summer."

The cans are more than just eye-catching designs – by "blipping" the Landshark can using the blippar app on smart phones, fans will get exclusive, behind-the-scenes content, with each can design featuring a different aspect of the Zac Brown Band experience. Additional content will be posted to the Landshark Facebook page – facebook.com/LandsharkLager – as each new can is released.

"Just as each Zac Brown Band concert is unique – from the 'Eat & Greets' to the moment the band walks off the stage – Landshark is giving fans a unique way to fully immerse themselves in the ZBB experience," said Michael Lourie , brand manager, Landshark Lager. "Longtime and new followers of the band will get a fun, surprising and intimate view of the band that's unlike any they've seen before."

On Landshark's Facebook page, fans will be asked each week to get their "Fins In" for digital challenges that unlock new features from the band. Part of this digital experience includes a national sweepstakes, where one fan and three friends can win a VIP trip to the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville, Tenn.

Kicking off the series of custom Zac Brown Band designs, the first can was inspired by the band's "Eat & Greets," where fans gather with the band prior to the concert to feast on Southern cuisine prepared by Southern Ground Executive Chef Rusty Hamlin . The design pulls inspiration from Southern dining, with checkered table cloths and vintage diner signs, as well as Zac Brown Band's laid-back attitude, with the band leader featured in the center. Subsequent can designs will highlight the concert experience through the band's eye and what happens after the stage lights go down. The second and third custom cans hit shelves on June 17 and August 5.

BOSTON — The Urban Grape, a modern boutique wine store in Boston’s South End and Chestnut Hill, will launch Urban Hops, an expanded, dedicated and curated craft beer program in both locations this spring. Because of the increased interest from customers in the craft beer movement, the Urban Grape is meeting demands with an amplified commitment to the beer program. With over 50 new brands in-house tallying to 300 varieties, Urban Hops will offer both large format and smaller format local and regional nano and micro-brew beer choices.

Beer Manager, Ben Bouton, will spearhead the program, and aims to follow the Urban Grape philosophy: offer an exclusive selection of diverse and progressive bottles, while still remaining accessible, approachable and affordable.

Unlike wine at the Urban Grape, beers will be organized by region. From a beer that is aged with raspberries in Sauterne barrels, to the latest release by well-known local craft brewers, Urban Hops hopes to strike a balance between the more extreme and everyday beer offerings. Education is always at the forefront within the store, and Urban Hops will be no different by hosting monthly tastings with brewers and events.

“People have realized that beer is not what it was twenty years ago, and their idea of what makes a great beer is expanding,” explains Beer Manager Ben Bouton. “And like a lot of great wine that we feature at the Urban Grape, much of this beer is not prohibitively expensive. One of the most sought after craft beers in the world is only $6 a bottle.”

Ben has completed the first level of the Cicerone Certification Program, which provides credentials to people who work with beer, providing proven expertise in the selection, acquisition, and serving. The Urban Grape features over 800 wines that are uniquely organized by weight, rather than varietal or region, using their method of Progressive ShelvingTM, which allows the customer to focus on the body of the wine. Owned by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs TJ and Hadley Douglas, the Urban Grape emphasizes unparalleled, concierge style customer service coupled with a “no wine snobs” mentality.

ABOUT THE URBAN GRAPE

The Urban Grape features over 800 wines that are uniquely organized by weight, rather than varietal or region. This is a new approach to wine retail pioneered by The Urban Grape called Progressive ShelvingTM which allows the customer to focus on whether the wine is light, medium, or full-bodied. The Chestnut Hill store is located at 7 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, and is open Monday through Wednesday from 9:30AM to 9:30PM, Thursday through Saturday from 9:30AM to 11:00PM and Sundays from 12:00PM to 6:00PM. The South End store is located at 303 Columbus Avenue in Boston’s South End, and is open Monday through Wednesday from 9:30AM to 9:30PM, Thursday through Saturday from 9:30AM to 11:00PM and Sundays from 12:00PM to 6:00PM.

Founded by Dale Katechis in 1997 as a brewpub and grill, Oskar Blues Brewery launched its craft-brewed beer canning operations in 2002 in Lyons, Colo. It was the first American craft brewery to brew and can its beer. Today there are more than 200 craft breweries canning beer. The original crew used a hand-canning line on a tabletop machine that sealed one can at a time. Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont packaged 59,000 in 2011 and grew to 85,750 in 2012 while opening an additional brewery in Brevard, NC, in late 2012.

Fort Collins, CO. – In May, 2013 Odell Brewing will release its first variety 12 pack, Montage. The new package will feature two brewery flagships, a seasonal offering, and a new brew, Loose Leaf American Session Ale.

Loose Leaf was developed on the brewery’s five barrel pilot system. The Odell brewers wanted to create a beer that was lighter in color, lower in alcohol content, but also flavorful and distinct. The final recipe is crisp and balanced with lower IBU's and a bright hop aroma. At 4.5% ABV, it’s delicate and refreshingly drinkable with a clean finish.

The brewery plans to issue three different versions of Montage mirroring its seasonal release schedule. Each edition of the variety pack will include brewery favorites 90 Shilling and IPA, the current seasonal offering as well as a new limited release pilot system inspired brew.

“Montage gives our brewers a new avenue to share their innovations,” said Eric Smith, Director of Sales & Marketing for Odell Brewing. “Not only does it include our flagship offerings, but it also gives us the opportunity to share our seasonal brews, and it extends our creative pilot system inspired offerings beyond the brewery walls.”

Odell Brewing will release Montage initially just in Colorado in May. The brewery will continue to launch the package in its other markets beginning in June. The brewery plans to celebrate the release with a special Loose Leaf tapping during the weekend of May 10th.

Loose Leaf American Session Ale will also be available on draft exclusively at all Colorado Old Chicago locations during the week of May 13th – 19th as part of a special American Craft Beer Week® - Odell Brewing tap takeover.

Founded in 1989, Odell Brewing was started by Doug Odell, his wife Wynne, and his sister Corkie. Twenty-four years later, the culture of family and collaboration still thrives fostering a brewery full of beer-centric people. It is this passion for beer that inspires Odell Brewing to create quality, hand-crafted, innovative brews. As a regional craft brewery, Odell Brewing is committed to serving the communities in which it distributes by sourcing local raw materials, and through its charitable giving program known as Odell Outreach. Odell Brewing was recently named a “Top Company of 2010” byColoradoBiz Magazine and is an award winning brewery, nationally and internationally: 2012 Brewers Association Recognition Award, 2011 Great American Beer Festival® - gold medal for Friek. 2010 North American Beer Awards – gold medal for Woodcut No. 3. 2009 BrewNZ Awards – gold for 5 Barrel Pale Ale. 2008 World Beer Cup® – gold for IPA. 2007 Great American Beer Festival® – gold medal for IPA.

Denver, Colorado, May 6, 2013… Without relying upon a single superpower, Breckenridge Brewery of Colorado will unveil its latest concoction, “The Caped Brewsader” – the official 2013 Denver Comic Con beer – this Thursday, May 9, at Punch Bowl Social at 7 p.m. The limited edition Belgian Witbier was specially crafted for the Denver Comic Con event, a three-day comic book and sci-fi convention slated May 31 through June 2.

The Caped Brewsader is a Belgian Witbier (wheat beer) brewed with an ancient citron plant fruit called Buddha's Hand. This tropical fruit is segmented into finger-like sections, resembling the hand of Buddha. The result is a slightly hazy, crisp and refreshing ale that has a subtle citrus flavor perfect for summer enjoyment. Approximately 40 pounds of Buddha’s Hand was added to the 100-barrel batch of beer.

The idea for this year’s beer sprouted when Breckenridge Brewery staff met with Comic Con co-founder Charlie La Greca and his team.

“Our Comic Con friends wanted a well-crafted, summer drinking beer, and they wanted to get a little crazy with it,” recalls brewer John Jordan. “The idea of adding fruit surfaced. This is where the light bulb immediately sparked with me. I had started developing a recipe some years back using this crazy looking citrus fruit – it looks like something right out of a sci-fi movie! It was a perfect fit!”

On the day of the brew, the Denver Comic Con team came to Breckenridge Brewery to assist with the brew. They were able to mill in malt, cut up, prepare and add the fresh Buddha’s Hand and hops.

The beer’s name, “The Caped Brewsader,” was selected from more than 300 entries in a Denver Comic Con online naming contest. More than 15,000 voters helped select the beer’s winning identity.

Renowned Australian comic book artist Ben Templesmith, known for his work on “Fell” and “30 Days of Night,” designed the label, pint glass and tap handle art. Templesmith is a New York Times best-selling artist and writer who has garnered numerous honors and awards in his industry.

The Caped Brewsader debut party at the Punch Bowl Social, 65 Broadway in Denver, will begin at 7 p.m. on May 9, and the first 200 guests to arrive will receive a limited edition commemorative pint glass designed by Templesmith. Breckenridge Brewery will be providing samples of The Caped Crusader and special giveaways. Following its launch at the Punch Bowl, the beer will be served at the Denver Comic Con as well as at numerous restaurants and bars throughout the Denver area while supplies last. The event covers the world of comic books, film and related media. It is a fundraiser for Comic Book Classroom, a charitable organization that teaches children in underprivileged schools how to read through comic books. The Caped Brewsader will be served throughout the event, and Breckenridge Brewery will be on hand providing a photo booth, superhuman activities and Caped Brewsader comic booklets.

For more information on The Caped Brewsader, visit www.breckbrew.com.

About The Caped Brewsader
Malts: Two Row, White Wheat, Caramel 30, Carapils, Torified Wheat
Hops: Cascade
Yeast: Proprietary Belgian Strain
Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 5.5%
Bittering Unites (IBU): 17
Extras: Buddha’s hand citron plant fruit

About Breckenridge Brewery
Breckenridge Brewery was founded in 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Silver City Brewery announces the "Silver City Brewery Drinking Song Contest" for local NW Musicians

Bremerton, WA - May 3, 2013 -- Silver City Brewery, the West Sound, Washington's premieraward winning brewery today announced the kick off of the Silver City Drinking Song Contest. The brewery is calling on local musicians to create a song that express' the celebration of local craft beer and submit their creation for consideration as Silver City's official "drinking song".

The NW Music Scene & NW Craft beer cultures are as imbedded in Washingtonians as our morning cups of coffee. Often one inspiring the other as a good rock show is celebrated with a local brew and many NW brewers brew to the rhythm of their favorite local musician. The Silver City brew team is no exception.

Having a few beers together (after work of course) Scott Houmes; owner of Silver City Brewery, Don Spencer; brewmaster, and Kurt Larson; Director of Sales & Marketing began discussing how cool it was that many European countries have a tradition of celebratory drinking songs. The songs breed unity, camaraderie and elevate spirited occasions that spans generations. Quickly the conversation gained steam when they questioned; why as Americans "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" was all we could recite? How in Seattle, with its rich music and beer culture, were there no drinking songs of note? This gave birth to the concept of the Silver City Drinking song contest and Silver City Brewery's relationship with KISW became the obvious medium to reach out to the music & beer community to make it happen.

Of the inspiration to create the contest, Kurt said "Some of my best times in life have been with good friends, my favorite beer in hand, rocking out to my favorite, local, live bands. We hope we can inspire up-and-coming musicians, support the local music scene, and celebrate this merger of rock & roll and craft beer in the NW." " And of course ending up with a kick butt song we can sing along with while enjoying Silver City Beers!" Scott added "We're really excited to create this partnership of all things local; musicians, brewery, and using a local, legendary radio station to deliver our message. We hope fans of all three can intertwine and really have fun with this contest this summer and maybe enjoy a few Ziggy Zoggy's or Ridgetop Red's while they're at it."

The musician(s) that create the selected song will receive studio time at UberBeatzhttp://uberbeatz-studios.com/ for a 3 song ep, a promotional video featuring the selected song done by iHeartKitsap http://iheartkitsap.net/ , and the track will be utilized in future Silver City marketing campaigns.

The contest will kick off Monday May 6th, during the submission phase where musicians will be able to submit their songs on line at www.silvercitybrewery.com. The submission phase concludes on June 9th. June 10th Silver City Brewery will ask fans and listeners to go to Silver City Brewery's Facebook page and "like" their page to access the top 10 songs. There they will be able to listen to the songs, vote for their favorite, and be entered into a drawing to win beer festival tickets for two for a year. The winning musician's song will be announced the week of July 14th and will potentially be included in future Silver City Brewery marketing campaigns.

For more contest details and complete rules, please go to www.silvercitybrewery.com.

Arcadia Expansion Update

KALAMAZOO, MI - Construction continues at the future site of Arcadia Brewing Company in Kalamazoo. New details continue to be unveiled by Arcadia President, Tim Suprise, as the opening date approaches and the focus shifts from remedying delays to progress.

The menu at Arcadia West will be ever-changing because the hand-cut, house-smoked meats that make up the bulk of the menu will be fresh, locally sourced, hand cut, and made to order. The major components of the menu will be smoked meats and fish.

The all wood-fired smoke house will be used to serve up traditional American barbeque favorites as well as some unconventional dishes. Drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern and South American cuisine and utilizing Berber and Turkish inspired spice rubs will give Arcadia West's menu a distinctive quality. Rare offerings like beef tongue and cheek will allow patrons to try something they've likely never had before.

Fish selections will include blue fish, cod, oysters and tuna, which will arrive regularly from Maine. Michigan whitefish and other house-cured meats like ham, pastrami, corned beef, sausage, salami and prosciutto will also have a presence on the menu. The practice of cold-smoking a substantial portion of the seafood/charcuterie offerings will give the fresh catches and house-cured a truly unique and one- of-a-kind flavor.

A counter service-style food delivery will allow customers to see the food before they make their purchase. When patrons walk in, the day's menu will be on display. They will then be able to specify the meat, cut, and quantity they'd like. Each meal will be made to order.

Beer drinkers and diners will sit together with ease. Communal seating at long tables, reminiscent of a German beer hall, will create a conversation-friendly environment that is ideal for group seating. Despite the absence of typical servers, you won't be neglected once you're seated. Beverage specialists will work the tavern and eatery areas, with the sole purpose of serving beverages. Each specialist will have an extensive knowledge of beverage styles, the brewing process and Arcadia's offerings. The amateur beer consumer need not fear an unfamiliar tap list. Beverage savvy servers will be able to steer them in the direction of their perfect pint.

Retractable garage doors will allow outdoor and indoor spaces to merge, adding to the communal feeling of the space. Reclaimed wood will be used in the construction of the bar and beer tables and repurposed metal piping will construct light fixtures and hardware.

Arcadia management has taken steps towards minimizing the environmental impact of the new building. Extensive research has gone into minimizing water waste, creatively using spent grain waste, and locally sourcing many food items. The proximity of Arcadia West to 400 feet of Kalamazoo river front will allow easy access by canoe, kayak, and bike - complete with portals for each. The beer garden will serve as a prime location for outdoor seating complete with river-front views, and pet-friendly sections.

The new facility will give Arcadia West the initial production capacity to make 30,000 barrels per year. Arcadia West is on track to open in December of 2013.

Fort Collins, CO. – On May 18th, 2013 Odell Brewing will introduce Celastrina Saison as part of its Cellar Series of beers. Celastrina is named for a rare butterfly found living on wild hops along the Front Range of Colorado and was brewed in honor of a partnership with the Colorado Natural Heritage Program.

“The hops blue butterfly (Celastrina humulus) is only found in a handful of counties along Colorado’s Front Range where it spends much of its time in moist drainages that support its host plant, wild hops (Humulus lupulus),” said Robert Schorr of the Colorado Natural Heritage Program, a non-profit organization of Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources. “CNHP and Odell Brewing Company have developed a novel partnership to conserve one of Colorado’s rare species.”

Last year, Schorr presented the hops blue butterfly to a group of Odell Brewing coworkers. After his presentation, the team felt compelled to share the story, and help the CNHP learn more. The partnership developed out of a mutual interest in conserving species and landscapes that are uniquely Colorado. Odell Brewing will donate $1 for hops blue butterfly research for every bottle sold.

Celastrina Saison is a crisp French-style Saison with hints of spice derived only from the hops used. Subtle phenols are complimented by the earthy hops and a dry finish. Odell Brewing and CNHP will celebrate the release of Celastrina in the brewery’s Tap Room during the weekend of May 18th.

About CNHP: The Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) is a non-profit organization of Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources and Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology. For more than 30 years, CNHP has been collecting and analyzing data on rare species and habitats in Colorado, and providing information and expertise to promote conservation of Colorado’s biological resources. CNHP conducts biological inventories throughout Colorado and the West and provides data to private, state, and federal partners, where it can guide management and conservation of species and their habitats.

About Odell Brewing: Founded in 1989, Odell Brewing was started by Doug Odell, his wife Wynne, and his sister Corkie. Odell Brewing was recently named a “Top Company of 2010” by ColoradoBiz Magazine and is an award winning brewery, nationally and internationally: 2012 Brewers Association Recognition Award, 2011 Great American Beer Festival® - gold medal for Friek.

Creativity is a core ingredient of beer, so FCB has a natural affinity with others engaged in creative activities and wants to see them succeed. That’s why FCB is partnering with the new Downtown Artery, a Fort Collins organization that provides artists with affordable studio and presentation spaces, to create the FCB Art Brewery: a studio that artists can use to explore the combination of beer and visual art.

The FCB Art Brewery will be occupied by one or two FCB Art Brewers who will work on several beer-inspired pieces and produce artwork for FCB’s limited release Tap Club series in addition to other non-beer-related projects.

The Art Brewers will retain complete ownership of their work, receive a VIP Tour and Tasting at FCB, and their work will be promoted through FCB’s website, social media, press contacts, and friend and family network.

New Art Brewers will be chosen every four months, and FCB is accepting applications for the first Art Brewers from May 3rd to May 24th. Winners will be announced by the end of May and can move into the studio immediately.

The grand opening of the Downtown Artery will take place on Friday June 7 th, and the doors will be thrown wide open so art and beer lovers can check out the new facility, meet the Art Brewers, and sample some of FCB’s liquid art. Thereafter, the Downtown Artery will be hosting exhibitions on the first Friday of every month so the public can see works of the FCB Art Brewers and all the other artists in the building.

Those not in driving range of Fort Collins can keep tabs on what is going on in the FCB Art Brewery on FCB’s website, social media pages, newsletter, and YouTube channel.

For more information about the FCB Art Brewery, including how to apply to be an Art Brewer, visit fortcollinsbrewery.com/artbrewery.

Inspired by the rye beers of southern Germany, we created this mischievously potent brew using an intriguing combination of pale and rye malts, a traditional German ale yeast, and New Zealand hops.
The result is an assertive dark copper-brown ale with a full-bodied malt backbone and elegant notes of clove and spice. The finish is bracing with a sharp spiciness that parallels a gentle hint of tropical fruit.
ABV 8.4%

Fifteen will be available for bottle purchase and growler fills in the Taproom.

Excelsior! Old Habit – Strong Rye Ale

A robust American ale brewed with four different rye malts and fresh centennial and crystal hops. It is partly fermented in Kentucky Rye Whiskey barrels then carefully blended. Enjoy the gorgeous ruby color, strong aromas of vanilla and black cherry, earthy flavors of nuts, oak and the warm, spicy finish.
ABV 9.0%
Pairs with: steak or burgers, desserts like bread pudding, or mellow soft cheese like butterkäse or smoked mozzarella.

Old Habit will be available for bottle purchase only in the Taproom. Limit 3 bottles per customer.

OAKLAND PARK, FL – April 26, 2013 – We’re pleased to announce the arrival of Funky Buddha Brewery, a full-scale production brewery and tap room located in the heart of Oakland Park. This unique facility — the first of its kind in Broward County — will instantly become South Florida’s largest capacity brewery, offering a spacious bar with 30 tap lines, live music, brewery tours, growlers to-go, and much more. To celebrate the occasion, a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for June 1 from 4pm to 12am.

Since its inception in 2010 at The Funky Buddha Lounge and Brewery in Boca Raton, Funky Buddha’s beers have been synonymous with innovation and flavor, winning national acclaim for melding traditional brewing methods with culinary ingredients such as chocolate, vanilla, tropical fruit, and maple syrup. The new brewery will allow for sudsy stalwarts such as Hop Gun IPA and the delectable Maple Bacon Coffee Porter — which currently ranks in the Top 200 Beers in the World according to beer ratings website Beer Advocate — to be produced on an exponentially larger scale for statewide distribution via Brown Distributing.

“We’re extremely excited that this brewery will allow us to share our passion for craft beer with a larger audience,” says head brewer and founder Ryan Sentz. “We could not have gotten here without the support of the Funky Buddha family and the entire brewing community.”

Sentz, along with brother and co-owner KC Sentz, will launch the facility with a brand new 30-barrel brew house, proudly built in North America. This hulking system will initially push out around 175,000 gallons of draught beer per year; the space’s 18,000-square foot floor plan will provide room for further expansion, allowing for up to five times that quantity. Future plans include a packaging line for bottles and/or cans to service bars, restaurants, and retailers statewide.

In addition to distribution, the Brewery promises to be a huge draw for residents and tourists alike. A 3,000-square foot tasting room and bar will feature 30 drafts lines pouring flagship ‘Buddha brews, limited releases, and beers from many of Florida’s other craft breweries. Among the tap room’s centerpieces is a 70’ bar top lined by tall windows looking into the brewery, and a 15’ tall, live-edged cherry wood back bar built by Asheville Mantle and Slab of North Carolina.

Aside from quaffing their favorite ‘Buddha beers, customers will also be able to listen to live local and national music acts, enjoy a few games of corn hole and bocce ball, or just relax in the newly renovated plaza seating. The location also includes ample outdoor space to host beer festivals, food truck rallies, and community events.

“It was critical for us to find a location that could offer a unique brewery experience,” says general manager KC Sentz. “The potential of the building, the character of the surrounding area, and the receptiveness of the community made choosing this spot an easy choice for us.”

Integral to the brewery’s success is the City of Oakland Park’s new Culinary Arts District, spearheaded by Redevelopment Management Associates. Funky Buddha Brewery will serve as the cornerstone of the district, which will also feature restaurants, markets, a culinary school, and a hydroponic farm with horticultural classes. The district’s newly renovated public plaza was a project completed by the City of Oakland Park and sits directly in front of the brewery. The plaza will be publicly unveiled along with the Brewery’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on June 1.

For questions and media inquiries, please contact John Linn at 561-755-7456, or <a>john@funkybuddhabrewery.com</a>.

ABOUT FUNKY BUDDHA BREWERY: Founded in 2010 in Boca Raton, Florida, Funky Buddha Brewery is committed to producing bold craft beers that marry culinary-inspired ingredients with time-honored technique. Its lineup includes year-round brews Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen along with specialty releases such as No Crusts Peanut Butter and Jelly Brown Ale and the highly sought after Maple Bacon Coffee Porter. Its Oakland Park location, slated to open in June 2013, will distribute statewide via Brown Distributing.

ABOUT OAKLAND PARK’S CULINARY ARTS DISTRICT: The Culinary Arts District in Downtown Oakland Park was a concept created by the City’s consultants, Redevelopment Management Associates (RMA) after completing a 5-year strategic plan for redevelopment with the City of Oakland Park. The district anchors will include Funky Buddha Brewery, a European-style Central Market, an Urban Farm Park, and a Culinary School, all of which are currently either under construction or negotiation. The City hopes to encourage pedestrian traffic along NE 12th Avenue and Dixie Highway Downtown and create a district where locals and regional tourists have a place to convene and experience all things culinary. From the brewery, to future shopping, art and restaurants, to kitchen supplies and fresh produce, the goal Culinary Arts District is becoming a reality with the Grand Opening of Funky Buddha Brewery.
