Founder

Soichiro Honda started his career as a boarding student at Tokyo Art Shokai, a topgarage for automobiles, motorcycles and racing cars. In 1928 he started a branch of Art Shokai in Hamamatsu. Because he was not limited to the usual repairs but is much occupied with all sorts of inventions, Honda quickly became the "Edison of Hamamatsu 'mentioned.

In the thirties exchanged Honda off work and training. He acquired metalworking, production and calibrating machines. It was Soichiro Honda to producer, businessman and car racer. But the most he was a dreamer. He dreamed of a better way to make affordable transportation for ordinary people.

In 1948, Soichiro Honda founded the company that bears his name. In a barn he built in Hamamatsu to bicycles to motorcycles. A year later he achieved his dream of an affordable transportation. He built Honda's first real motorcycle, the Dream D-type. The company was also a time licensee of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Honda was the mid-fifties the first of many Japanese companies that the European and U.S. markets were approaching. Initially, Honda exported slight, but later also very heavy motorcycles. In 1959 Honda introduced the first Japanese motorcycle in Amsterdam, the 250cc C72 Dream. Even now for Honda motorcycles are a major source of income.

Cars

Honda's car history began at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1962. Since the manufacturer showed a small sports car, the S360. The following year were the first commercial vehicles T360 and S500 sports cars of the band. On the basis of the S-series also appeared sedans, the so-called N-series. Although the S-and N-series fun, fast cars contain, crushed the cars outside Japan is not very appealing.

The great success for Honda came in 1972. Then started the sale at a competitive price, the compact, front-wheel drive Honda Civic. Honda is the pioneer among Japanese automakers. The brand brings many new technologies first. One example is the development of the first navigation system in the world, in 1983. The analog system worked with an accelerometer, GPS because at that time did not exist. Honda put much honor some years ago in his self-developed 2.2 liters common rail turbodiesel engine.

The NSX (New Sportscar eXperimental 'or' New experimental sports car) Honda sought a perfect balance between strength and reliability. This was done by Formula 1-racer Satoru Nakajima, Ayrton Senna and Bobby Rahal involved in the development. F1 designer Gordon Murray took the NSX better than all the Ferraris of the time: "The NSX was a catalyst, a car that has brought about changes, the NSX gave the establishment a kick."

In 1998 the company celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. For this occasion brought the limited edition Honda S2000 roadster. This shared no parts with other Honda cars, but was a big show of technological knowledge that Honda had in the house. The S2000 was at the Geneva Motor Show 1999 was named Cabrio of the Year.

The fast models Honda NSX and S2000 had to clear the field during the economic crisis that began in 2008. Honda also ended its participation in F1. But now the Japanese brand is focused again on a new mining field: environmental technology.

A Carrickfergus Car Trader was fined an amount of £200 for selling a car having an oil leak. The customer who bought the car shortly discovered the leak and charged the company for the fix. The company stated that the car was sold ‘as a scrap’ and not for regular use. Though the customer referred that he wanted a car for regular use on the road, the company sold him this car without mentioning the defect. After a charge filed from the customer, the court found the company guilty of the wrong doing, and simultaneously fined them an amount of £200. The company, however, refused to fix the leak.

Hi:) In celebration of the 70th anniversary of its historic victory in the famed Mille Miglia automobile race in Brescia, when the classic BMW 328 not only finished in first place but also in third, fifth and sixth places, thereby ensuring overall team victory as well, the German automaker has announced that it will build just 99 examples of the limited edition Z4 sDrive35is Mille Miglia.

Setting this car apart from other Z4s, each Mille Miglia edition will be finished in a coat of matte Polaris Metallic with a blacked-out front grill, an M aero kit and 19-inch wheels finished in Dark Chrome. Inside, the seats and steering wheel will get a dash of red stitching. And of course, the limited edition model will also get unique badging inside and out.

Power will come from the standard 340-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six, mated up to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In somewhat related news, BMW has also recreated a classic 328 Kamm Coupé to take part in this year's Mille Miglia festivities.

Hi:) The very same properties that make oil perfect for lubricating the high-speed engine internals inside racing vehicles makes it extremely dangerous on the actual racing surface. No shock there... we all know oil is slippery. When racing goes from four wheels to two, though, that slippery surface can have especially disastrous results.

Such was the case last weekend during the Moto2 race at Jerez. A crash that sent Shoya Tomizawa and Simone Corsi to the ground spilled a fair bit of crankcase oil onto the track, which in turn caused a domino-like array of low-slides directly behind. In total nine riders went down in the wake of the spill.

Fortunately, the race was red-flagged and nobody was seriously injured. Dorna safety delegate Franco Uncini reportedly said after the race that the management group would likely make carbon fiber crankcase covers mandatory moving forward to prevent such issues in the future.

The 2010 Camaro has been a boon for General Motors and its Chevrolet brand, with sales of 9,150 units in April alone. The Mustang is down a bit at 5,145 units for April, but that's expected to change once the vastly improved 2011 models begin rolling into Ford dealers around the country. Even the Dodge Challenger had its best month ever in April. We can't tell you how happy it makes us that the pony car wars have once again began to boil over, but a report by Edmunds' Auto Observer correctly points out that the rest of the sports car market isn't faring nearly so well.

The report shows that sports cars like the once hot Nissan GT-R, with only 106 sales in April, are now struggling for sales. Porsche 911 sales are down 18 percent from a poor 2009, only 428 Mazda RX-8s have been sold in 2010 and Nissan failed to sell 1,000 copies of the fun to drive 370Z. Even the venerable Corvette, which saw 2007 production of over 40,000 units, is only at 3,522 units through four months of 2010.

Hi:) These days, it's seemingly a requirement for any supercar worth its Y-rated rubber to have a limited-edition evil twin. Names like Scuderia, Superleggera, GT3 RS, and ACR-X are all testament to the current demand for no-nonsense road monsters, sacrificing comfort and practicality for purpose and sheer speed. Audi's R8 was billed as an everyday supercar when it was released, and the addition of a V-10 in the latest example hasn't done anything to change that impression. But such a reputation is a double-edged sword, with some dismissing the mid-engined Audi as too soft, or without soul.
