The Best of Disco Polo by Stachmeister

So as I said, there will be a top-list each two weeks, consisting of at least three tracks but I cannot generalise about the amount as there are many factors that decide what goes to the top-list, so one time it can be three tracks, one time it can be ten.

So we are starting from now, and number one is Skaner with their Mix '99

This Asian guy's English is shame, anyways, this mix sounds good, and now I will use an acronym which I don't usually use, and this acronym is LOL.

Skaner's music's been sounding more than good to me in the last times, so the number two today is Skaner - Wracaj do mego swiata (Please come back to my world)

On the third place is Jorrgus with his Do Re Mi 2008 (again on here, I love the song :))

and yes, as I said, there will be more tunes in my posts, so on the fourth place is Przelec mnie (take me) by Q-bass and MP Project (again in my top ones)

If I did four tracks, then why not do five and that's it? Alright, so number 5 is Cliver - Pokaz jak sie krecisz

Hi everyone, I am sorry to say that but I have to make a little amendment for my blog. Previously I did 'tunes of the week' but now I have to do the 'top-list' for two weeks. Each sunday every two weeks I will post the tunes I liked the most in this two weeks.

In early 1990's Disco Polo was so popular, that even some TV stars began to sing, for example, Bohdan Smolen, Marek Kondrat (with his great hit called Mydelko Fa) and Janusz Laskowski. Also, some artists tried to get back to the top of the lists by singing Disco Polo, for example Krzysztof Krawczyk and Jacek Stachursky.

When we are talking about Marek Kondrat and his hit, then why not listen to it ;)

Aha, do not take this song seriously, this song was a joke^^ I think this was made just to mock Disco Polo and was misunderstood and became a no 1 hit of Disco Polo ;)

Welcome to my blog about Disco Polo music!

Here I will post links to my favourite Disco Polo songs, and some info about authors and their discography.

So, for some people who yet don't know anything about Disco Polo, it's a musical genre specific to Poland, which has existed in present form since late 1990's. The first form of Disco Polo had been invented in 1980, and it derived from folk tunes and Italo Disco. Nowadays it's just a dance music that has not much common with the old Disco Polo.

The best times of Disco Polo were 1990's, when it was not censored by communist government and authors were free to produce and distribute the music. Not much later, most of the recording companies that were associated with Disco Polo, were owned by Polish Mafia as they were making huge profits. In that times, Disco Polo could be heard almost everywhere, mostly at festivals, weddings, bazaars, and even during political campaigning for Polish parliament and presidental elections. The most notable example of a politician who used Disco Polo in his presidental campaign is Alexander Kwasniewski, the former president of Poland, who won 1995 elections. The song for his campaign was 'Ole, Olek' by Top One. Olek is a pet form of Alexander's name.

By the end of 1990, when Polish mafia began to fall apart as of Police's successes, most of the producers bankrupted and almost whole of the Disco Polo movement stopped.

By the year 2000, Disco Polo, listeners and everyone who was considered to be a Disco Polak, were laughed at etc. This was happening to around 2005, when most of the Disco Polo movement members were missing Disco Polo, and formed new bands. The style unfortunately changed, and now Disco Polo is completely different music. There are although a few authors who represent original Disco Polo, the one with the use of guitars, accordions, keytars, tamburins and other similar.
