The cast of the movie "Captain Fantastic" (2016) -Viggo Mortensen, George MacKay, Samantha Isler, Annalise Basso, Nicholas Hamilton, Kirk Ross and Philip Klein- sing this cover of the song during a memorable scene of the film.

Sweet Child o' Mine was one of the hits included in Guns N' Roses debut album "Appetite for Destruction" (1987). The song is listed at #198 on Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

Lyrics

She's got a smile it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh,
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh, oh
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh, (sweet child)
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
No, no, no, no, no, no
Sweet child,
Sweet child of mine

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Regina Spektor / The Beatles)

2017-04-02T19:38:00.004+02:00

Regina Spektor made this fantastic cover of My Guitar Gently Weeps for the Original Soundtrack of Kubo And The Two Strings (2016). The song is a perfect fit for the end credits of this animated film about a young boy who tells stories by magically manipulating origami that moves under music played from Kubo's shamisen (a Japanese, three-stringed musical instrument).

The original song was composed by George Harrison in 1968, and included in The Beatles' White Album (the album's actual name is The Beatles).

Lyrics

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know how nobody told you
how to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you

I look at you all I see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps

Smash Mouth covered the song with this uptempo version on their debut album Fush Yu Mang (1998):

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

I seen ya around for a long long time
I really remember you when you drank my wine

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

I'd seen ya walking down in Chinatown
I called ya but you could not look around

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

I pay my money to the welfare line
I see ya standing in it every time

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

The color of your skin don't matter to me
As long as we can live in harmony

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

I'd kinda' like to be the president
So I could show you how your money's spent

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

Sometimes I don't speak right
But yet I know what I'm talking about

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

I know you're working for the CIA
They wouldn't have you in the mafia

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends
Why can't we be friends

Billie Jean (The Civil Wars / Michael Jackson)

2016-05-03T19:17:00.000+02:00

The American musical duo composed of Joy Williams and John Paul White recorded this cover of Billie Jean in their EP from 2013, called Between the Bars:

Billie Jean is one of the most famous songs included in Michael Jackson's album Thriller (1982):

Lyrics:

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind, but what do you mean, I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one, who will dance on the floor in the round

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand
Her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Don't think twice, don't think twice)

She told my baby we'd danced till three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no!)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
She came and stood right by me
Just the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

She says I am the one,
(You know what you did, (she says he is my son)breaking my heart babe)
She says I am the one

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover (don't Billie Jean)
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

Dancing in the Dark (Ruth Moody / Bruce Springsteen)

2016-02-16T17:26:00.000+01:00

Ruth Moody is an Australian-born singer singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Canada. Her cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark was one of CBC Radio 2’s most played played songs of 2013. This live recording dates from April in the same year:

Bruce Springsteen wrote Dancing in the Dark in 1984. The song was included in his famous album Born in the USA:

Lyrics:

I get up in the evening, and I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning, I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired, man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help
(Chorus)
You can't start a fire, you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

Message just keep getting clearer, radio's on and I'm moving round my place
I check my look in the mirror wanna change my clothes my hair my face
Man I ain't getting nowhere I'm just livin in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere baby I just know that there is

(Chorus)

You sit around getting older there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders come on baby the laughs on me
Stay on the streets of this town and they'll be carving you up alright
They say you got to stay hungry hey baby I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action I'm sick of sitting 'round here trying to write
This book
I need a love reaction come on baby give me just one look

(Chorus)
You can't start a fire, sittin' 'round cryin' over a broken heart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

You can't start a fire, worryin' about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark

Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

Hey baby!

The Ghost of Tom Joad (Rage Against the Machine/Bruce Springsteen)

2016-01-21T19:40:00.000+01:00

Rage Against The Machine covered The Ghost of Tom Joad in 1997:

Bruce Springsteen wrote and released The Ghost of Tom Joad in 1995. The song was included in the album with the same name. Tom Joad is the main charachter of John Steinbeck's novel "The Grapes of Wrath". Springsteen has performed the song live several times, including this one with Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine in The Madison Square Garden, NYC, in 2009:

Lyrics

Men walking 'long the railroad tracks
Going someplace, there's no going back
Highway patrol choppers coming up over the ridge
Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge
Shelter line stretching 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleeping in the cars in the southwest
No home, no job, no peace, no rest

Well the highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kidding nobody about where it goes
I'm sitting down here in the campfire light
Searching for the ghost of Tom Joad

He pulls a prayer book out of his sleeping bag
Preacher lights up a butt and he takes a drag
Waiting for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass
You got a one-way ticket to the promised land
You got a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand
Sleeping on a pillow of solid rock
Bathing in the city's aqueduct

Go!

Well the highway is alive tonight
Where it's headed everybody knows
I'm sitting down here in the campfire light
Waiting on the ghost of Tom Joad

Now Tom said, "Mom, wherever there's a cop beating a guy
Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries
Where there's a fight against the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me, Mom, I'll be there

Wherever somebody's fighting for a place to stand
Or a decent job or a helping hand
Wherever somebody's struggling to be free
Look in their eyes, Ma, and you'll see me"
Yeah!

The highway is alive tonight
Where it's headed everybody knows
I'm sitting down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of old Tom Joad

The Loco-Motion (Kylie Minogue / Grand Funk Railroad / Little Eva)

2015-09-13T20:02:00.002+02:00

The Loco-Motion, also known just as "Locomotion", was the first-ever single released by the Australian pop star Kylie Minogue. It was 1987:

Grand Funk Railroad recorded in 1974 the first successful cover of The Loco-Motion:

The original song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King in 1962, and originally recorded by Eva Boyd, known as Little Eva:

Lyrics:

Everybody's doing a brand-new dance, now
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)
I know you'll get to like it if you give it a chance now
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)
My little baby sister can do it with me
It's easier than learning your A-B-C's
So come on, come on, do the Loco-motion with me
You gotta swing your hips, now

Come on, baby
Jump up
Jump back
Well, now, I think you've got the knack
Wow, wow

Now that you can do it, let's make a chain, now
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)
A chug-a chug-a motion like a railroad train, now
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)
Do it nice and easy, now, don't lose control
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of soul

Come on, come on
Do the Loco-motion with me

Ye-ye-ye-yeah
Move around the floor in a Loco-motion
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)
Do it holding hands if you get the notion
(Come on baby, do the Loco-motion)

There's never been a dance that's so easy to do
It even makes you happy when you're feeling blue
So come on, come on, do the Loco-motion with me

(Come on)
You gotta swing your hips, now
(Come on)
That's right (do the Loco-motion)
You're doing fine!
(Come on, do the Loco-motion)
Come on, babe
(Come on, do the Loco-motion)
Hm-hm-hm, jump up
(Come one)
Jump back (do the Loco-motion)
You're looking good
(Come on, do the Loco-motion)
Hm-hm-hm, jump up
(Come on)
Jump back (do the Loco-motion), yeah yeah yeah

Chasing Cars (The Wind And The Wave / Snow Patrol)

2015-07-20T16:30:00.003+02:00

The Wind And The Wave (Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn) released this sweet cover in May 2015:

Snow Patrol released the song Chasing Cars in 2006. It was included in their fourth studio album, Eyes Open:

Lyrics:

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes
They're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things
Will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

I Feel The Earth Move (Martika / Carol King)

2015-07-04T10:47:00.002+02:00

Martika recorded this energic version of Carole King's classic song in 1989 in the album with her name, Martika:

Carole King wrote and recorded I Feel The Earth Move for her album Tapestry (1971):

Lyrics:

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Ooh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get a hot and cold all over
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down,
Tumbling down, tumbling down...

You're The One That I Want (Lo-Fang / John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John)

2015-01-31T11:22:00.002+01:00

Matthew Jordan Hemerlein a.k.a. Lo-Fang included this slow-tempo cover on his debut album Blue Film (2014). His cover was later used in this advertisement for Chanel No. 5:

Lyrics:

I got chills, they're multiplying
And I'm losing control
'Cause the power, you're supplying
It's electrifying!

You better shape up, 'cause I need a man
And my heart is set on you
You better shape up, you better understand
To my heart I must be true
Nothing left, nothing left for me to do

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo,Oo,Oo honey

You're the one that I want

You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo, the one that I need
Oh yes indeed

If you're filled with affection
You're too shy to convey
Meditate my direction
Feel your way

I better shape up, 'cause you need a man
I need a man who can keep me satisfied
I better shape up, if I'm gonna prove
You better prove that my faith is justified
Are you sure? Yes I'm sure down deep inside

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo, the one that I need
Oh yes indeed

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo, the one that I need
Oh yes indeed

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo, the one that I need
Oh yes indeed

You're the one that I want
You are the one I want
Oo, Oo, Oo honey

You're the one that I want

Satus Quo helped popularize the song, by releasing their cover just two years after the original song was released. Rockin' All Over The World cover was recorded in 1977 for the album under the same name. The cover became an anthem for Live Aid:

The song was written in 1975 by John Fogerty, former leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was included in his second solo album, also called John Fogerty. You can see in this video a live performance of Rockin' All Over the World by Fogerty:

Bruce Springsteen uses to sing the song in some of his concerts. In this ocasion, he shared stage with John Fogerty at Hyde Park (2012):

Lyrics:

Ah here we are and here we are and here we go
All aboard and we're hitting the road
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

Ah giddy-up and giddy-up and get away
We're going crazy and we're going today
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-like
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

I'm gonna tell your mama what you're gonna do
Come on out with your dancing shoes
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-like
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-like
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it
I li-li-like it, li-li-like
Here we go, rockin' all over the world

Jumpin' Jack Flash (Johnny Winter / The Rolling Stones)

2014-07-17T18:43:00.003+02:00

Johnny Winter (who recently passed away at the age of 70) covered the song in BBC2's show The Old Grey Whistle Test (1974):

The Rolling Stones released the song in 1968. It provided the title of Whoopi Goldberg's movie Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986):

Lyrics

I was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right. Im jumpin jack flash,
Its a gas! gas! gas!

I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag,
I was schooled with a strap right across my back,
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, Im jumpin jack flash,
Its a gas! gas! gas!

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead.
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled.
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread.
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head.
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas!
But it's all right, Im jumpin jack flash,
Its a gas! gas! gas!

Jumping jack flash, it's a gas
Jumping jack flash, it's a gas
Jumping jack flash, it's a gas
Jumping jack flash, it's a gas
Jumping jack flash

Unchain my Heart (Joe Cocker / Ray Charles)

2014-05-20T18:00:00.000+02:00

Joe Cocker's cover was released in 1987, and it was included in his album with the same name:

Unchain my heart was written by Bobby Sharp and recorded first in 1961 by Ray Charles:

Lyrics

Unchain my heart, baby let me be
Cause you don't care, help me, set me free

Unchain my heart, baby let me go
Unchain my heart, cause you don't love me no more
Every time I call you on the phone
Some fellow tells me that you're not at home
Unchain my heart, set me free

Unchain my heart, baby let me be
Unchain my heart, cause you don't care about me
You got me sewed up like a narrow case
But you let my love go to waste
Unchain my heart, set me free

I'm under your spell, like a man in a trance, oh yeah
Oh but you know damn well, that I don't stand a chance

Unchain my heart, let me go my way
Unchain my heart, you worry me nigth and day
Why lead me through a life of misery
When you don't care a bag of beans for me
Unchain my heart, oh please, let me be

In The Army Now (Status Quo / Bolland Bolland)

2014-05-19T11:00:00.000+02:00

Surprised? This is not a Status Quo's original song! It's a cover! But, for sure, this is one of the rare cases where the cover became a rock classic and the original song isn't even known by the public. It is included in the album with the same name (1986):

Rob and Ferdi Bolland (Bolland Bolland) recorded You're In The Army Now in 1981:

Lyrics*

A paid vacation in a foreign land
Uncle Sam does the best he can
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

Now you remember what the draft man said
Nothing to do all day but stay in bed
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

You'll be a hero of the neighborhood
Nobody knows that you left for good
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

Smiling faces as you wait to land
But once you get there no one gives a damn
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

Hand grenades flying over your head

Missiles flying over your head
If you want to survive get out of bed
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

Shots ring out in the dead of night
The sergeant calls : "Stand up and fight!"
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

You've got your orders to shoot on sight
your finger's on the trigger but it don't seem right
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you're in the army, now

Night is falling and you just can't see
Is this illusion or reality
You're in the army now
Oh, oh you

*Status Quo slightly modified the lyrics in 2010 changing their meaning. These are the originals.

Blue Velvet (Lana del Rey / Tony Bennett)

2014-05-17T12:42:00.005+02:00

Lana del Rey's cover of Blue Velvet was recorded for this commercial, and it is included in her second album Born to Die - The Paradise Edition (2012):

Tony Bennett was the first one to record this song (1951), written by Bernie Wayne and Lee Morris in 1950:

Lyrics

She wore Blue Velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours

Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left gone was the glow of

Blue Velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm a memory through the years

And I still can see Blue Velvet through my tears

Johnny and Mary (Todd Terje / Robert Palmer)

2014-05-10T13:39:00.003+02:00

The Norwegian DJ, songwriter and record producer Todd Terje (his actual name is Terje Olsen) recorded a cover of Johnny & Mary with Bryan Ferry. The track appeared on Terje's debut album It's Album Time (2014):

Robert Palmer wrote Johnny and Mary for his album Clues (1980):

Other cover versions of "Johnny and Mary":

Placebo

Inspired by "El Placer de la Incertidumbre".

Lyrics:

Johnny's always running around
Trying to find certainty.
He needs all the world to confirm
That he ain't lonely.
Mary counts the walls
says he tires easily.
Johnny thinks the world would be right
If it would buy truth from him.
Mary says he changes his mind
More than a woman

But she made her bed
Even when the chance was slim.

Johnny says he's willing to learn
When he decides he's a fool.
Johnny says he'll live anywhere
When he earns time to.
Mary combs her hair
Says he should be used to it.

Mary always hedges her bets
She never knows what to think.
She says he still acts
Like he's being discovered

Scared that he'll be caught
Without a second thought.

Johnny feels he's wasting his breath
Trying to talk sence to her.
Mary says he's lacking a real
Sense of proportion

So she combs her hair
Knows he tires easily.

Johnny's always running around
Trying to find certainty.
He needs all the world to confirm
That he ain't lonely.
Mary counts the wall
Says she should be used to it.

Losing My Religion (Lacuna Coil / R.E.M.)

2014-04-22T19:30:00.001+02:00

The Italian band Lacuna Coil covered the song in their sixth studio album, Dark Adrenaline (2012) :

Losing My Religion was one of the first greatest hits by R.E.M. The song was released as the first single from the group's 1991 album Out of Time:

Lyrics:

Life is bigger
It's bigger
And you, you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour
I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up

Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream, try, cry, why, try
That was just a dream, just a dream, just a dream
Dream

Robbie Williams teamed up with Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor) performing the vocals for the soundtrack of the 2001 film "A Knight's Tale":

We Are The Champions is one of the best, most famous rock anthems of all times. It was recorded by Queen for their 1977 album News of the World:

Lyrics:

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before
The whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions

Lyrics:

Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door

Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door

Mama put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore
That cold black cloud is comin' down
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door

Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door

"You just better start sniffin' your own
rank subjugation jack 'cause it's just you
against your tattered libido, the bank and
the mortician, forever man and it wouldn't
be luck if you could get out of life alive"*
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door

Sweet Child O' Mine (Taken by Trees / Guns N' Roses)

2013-12-04T17:36:00.005+01:00

The Taken by Trees (alias for Victoria Bergsman, a Swedish songwriter, musician, and vocalist) cover of this song appears at the end of the movie Life as We Know It (2010). It also is used in the trailer for the 2009 remake of The Last House on the Left:

Sweet Child O' Mine was one of the first hits by Guns N' Roses. The song was included in their first album Appetite for Destruction (1988):

Lyrics:

She's got a smile it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh,
Sweet love of mine

Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh, oh
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh, (sweet child)
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
Oh,
Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Oh,
Where do we go now?
No, no, no, no, no, no
Sweet child,
Sweet child of mine.

Lyrics:

Remember those walls I built?
Well, baby, they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make a sound
I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now

It's like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
It's the risk that I'm takin'
I ain't never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
Whoa

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You're the only one that I want
Think I'm addicted to your light
I swore I'd never fall again
But this don't even feel like falling
Gravity can't forget
{ From: http://www.elyrics.net }
To pull me back to the ground again

Feels like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
The risk that I'm takin'
I'm never gonna shut you out

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
Halooo, ooh
Halooo, ooh
Halooo, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh

Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo

Lyrics:

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid
Oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me
Stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
All the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No, I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me
Stand by me

So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh stand by me, oh won't you stand now, stand
Stand by me
Stand by me

Lyrics:

It's getting better all the time
I used to get mad at my school (No, I can't complain)
The teachers who taught me weren't cool( No, I can't complain)
You're holding me down (Oh Oh)
Turning me round(Oh Oh)
Filling me up with your rules(Oooh)

I've got to admit it's getting better (Better)
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
I have to admit it's getting better (better)
It's getting better
Since you've been mine

Me used to be a angry young man
Me hiding me head in the sand
You gave me the word, I finally heard
I'm doing the best that I can

I've got to admit it's getting better(Better)
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
I have to admit its getting better (Better)
It's getting better
Since you've been mine

Getting so much better all the time!

It's getting better all the time
Better, better, better.
It's getting better all the time
Better, better, better.

I used to be cruel to my woman
I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved
Man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene
And I'm doing the best that I can (ooh)

I admit it's getting better
A little better all the time (It can't get no worse)
Yes, I admit it's getting better, it's getting better
Since you've been mine

Getting so much better all the time

It's getting better all the time
Better Better Better
It's getting better all the time
Better Better Better

Getting so much better all the time
