The Knicks were as dead as can be after the first half, with New York facing a deficit as big as 29 points after the Spurs came out scorching hot.

But the Knicks began digging out of what seemed like an insurmountable hole in the third quarter and stayed hot in the fourth.

Before we knew it, the Knicks had taken the lead over the Spurs, but San Antonio did not go down without a fight.

With just seconds remaining and the Knicks trailing by one point, Jalen Brunson fired up an ill-advised three-pointer from way beyond the arc that fell short.

That’s when Anunoby saved the day, with the Knicks forward flying through the lane to tip the ball in and give the Knicks a one-point lead with 1.2 seconds remaining.

The Spurs had a chance to win the game on the next possession but were unable to even get a shot up and the Knicks capped off their incredible comeback to take a 3-1 series lead.

The Knicks still have one more win to go to finish off the series, but that victory seems inevitable after what we witnessed on Wednesday night.

Anunoby has really come into his own in these playoffs and has proven himself to be a fantastic two-way player.

We always knew he was an elite defender, but Anunoby’s offense has gone to a completely different level in the postseason and the Knicks aren’t where they are now without him.

Knicks make NBA history

With the 29-point comeback, the Knicks broke the record for the largest comeback in NBA Finals history. The previous record was 29 points.

It’s really par for the course for the Knicks’ playoff run, which has been historic on so many levels.

Line Drive Strikes Lugo In Forehead

With one pitch, the atmosphere of the game changed completely. Nimmo connected with a pitch from Lugo and sent a screaming line drive back toward the mound at 107 mph. The ball struck Lugo squarely in the forehead before he had any chance to react, sending the veteran pitcher to the ground.

As soon as contact was made, it became clear this was more than just another hard-hit baseball. Players from both teams immediately showed concern as Lugo remained down on the field. After reaching first base, Nimmo turned his attention toward the injured pitcher while members of the Royals rushed out to check on their teammate.

Immediate Medical Attention

Lugo appeared to be in significant discomfort following the impact. Medical personnel quickly attended to the Royals starter as teammates gathered around him. Given the force of the line drive and the area of impact, there was understandable concern regarding the severity of the injury.

Following an evaluation on the field, Lugo was removed from the game and escorted off as the Royals and Rangers looked on. The scary sequence served as another reminder of the risks pitchers face every time a ball is put into play.

Hoping For Speedy Recovery

At the time of his departure, no official update regarding Lugo’s condition had been released. Players, fans, and members of the baseball community will undoubtedly be anxiously awaiting further information in the coming hours. While getting hit by a line drive is always dangerous, being struck directly in the head creates immediate concern regardless of the outcome. For now, the focus is not on the final score of the game but rather on Lugo’s health and recovery.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lugo, his family, his teammates, and the entire Royals organization. Everyone is hoping for positive news and a speedy recovery following what was undoubtedly one of the most frightening moments of the MLB season.

The Spurs absolutely dominated the Knicks over the first two quarters of play and had a 29-point lead at one point in the contest.

However, the Knicks finally started showing signs of life in the third quarter when New York slowly started chipping away at San Antonio’s lead.

Then, New York exploded in the fourth quarter and eventually erased the Spurs’ lead en route to pulling off a comeback never before seen in NBA history.

With the Knicks overcoming the 29-point deficit for the 107-106 win, New York broke the NBA record for the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. The previous record was 24 points.

It is just unfathomable that the Knicks were able to win this game.

New York looked dead in the dirt in the first half and did everything possible to lose the contest.

But as we’ve learned so many times in these playoffs, you can never count the Knicks out, no matter the deficit.

Meanwhile, this loss will be completely dejecting to the Spurs and it’s hard to imagine them being able to recover from it.

With the victory, the Knicks now have a chance to close out the series in Game 5 in San Antonio and win their first NBA title since 1973.

The writing was on the wall for Rashford the moment Barcelona completed their acquisition of Anthony Gordon. With the former Newcastle United man now officially part of the Blaugrana, head coach Hansi Flick found himself with a surplus of left wingers.

Marcus Rashford included in Manchester United’s “bomb squad”

Unless head coach Michael Carrick changes his mind, Manchester United will exhaust their options to offload Marcus Rashford’s £ 325,000-per-week salary this summer. If no one buys the 28-year-old forward, Barcelona could negotiate another loan to get him back into their ranks.

Recently, Manchester United have announced the departures of Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho, as their contracts are set to expire soon, and Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee are being shopped. The money saved from their exits – along with their additional revenue from securing Champions League football – should come in handy this summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are reportedly finalizing Ederson’s transfer from Atalanta, which would make him their first marquee summer addition. They are also linked to Mateus Fernandes, Elliot Anderson, and Alex Scott in a bid to bolster their midfield depth.

Dolan’s comments drew criticism from fans in the comments section.

“We don’t beat opposing teams fans in the streets of our city. That is worth more than any halftime performance,” a comment read.

“You’re also charging 10x as more for your ticket than The Spurs….I would f****** hope the fans getting ripped off get a half-time show concert,” one fan wrote.

“We not worried about halftime performances,” a user said.

“Halftime shows don’t win you games buddy,” posted another.

“Can we worry about the actual basketball please?” one fan commented.

James Dolan’s Knicks history

Dolan has controlled and overseen the Knicks since 1999. He took over Madison Square Garden sports properties in the same year, inheriting it from his father, Charles Dolan. The 71-year-old has been vocal about his desire to keep the team and not sell it.

He is looking to bring a championship to New York for the first time since 1973. Its fans and the residents of the city have long been wanting to see the Knicks win, and the team is two games away this year. However, it won’t be easy as the Spurs stand in their way with their sights set on potentially starting a dynasty. They have a young core who could dominate the NBA for years to come.

In the third quarter of Game 4 on Wednesday night, Wemby committed a flagrant foul on Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns after Wemby hit Towns with an elbow to the chin.

Wemby was called for a Flagrant 1, which means he now has three flagrant foul points in the playoffs after he hit Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid with an elbow in the Western Conference semifinals.

Had the NBA’s review of his uncalled foul on Brunson in Game 3 that saw Wemby shove the Knicks star to the ground led to a retroactive flagrant foul (it should have), Wembanyama would be suspended for Game 5 because he would have four flagrant foul points.

Instead, the NBA inexplicably did not give Wemby the flagrant foul after its bogus review and that has bailed the Spurs center out.

The NBA did, however, admit Wemby fouled Brunson, but somehow did not see fit to give the Spurs star the Flagrant 1 he should have gotten.

That decision now looms incredibly large.

San Antonio led 41-22 after the first 12 minutes of action. It was the largest first-quarter lead by a road team in NBA Finals history. Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell led the charge and quickly silenced the crowd.

It was the perfect start for the Spurs as they look to sweep the Knicks at home and return to Frost Bank Center with the series tied at 2-2. San Antonio pulled within one game back with a 115-11 win in Game 3.

New York struggled from the field as San Antonio’s defense forced them to take tough shots. Turnovers and Karl-Anthony Towns committing his second foul just 62 seconds into the game added to the Knicks’ woes.

Victor Wembanyama and Spurs’ first-half performance

Wembanayama and his team are up 76-49 halftime. Four Spurs players scored in double digits, led by the superstar center’s 16 on 6-for-11 shooting. Dylan Harper and Vassell chipped in 15 each, while Fox contributed 13 along with six assists.

San Antonio shot 28-for-47 from the field, including 14-of-26 from beyond the arc. It recorded 18 assists, matching its total rebounds.

The Knicks, on the other hand, converted only 15-of-37 field goal attempts. They also made just 4-of-12 3-pointers. They need to come out strong in the second half to give them a fighting chance of pulling off a comeback.

The Spurs knocked down a whopping 14 three-pointers over the first two quarters against New York, which is the most made three-pointers in the first half of an NBA Finals game in league history.

With the avalanche of three-pointers the Spurs drilled, they have staked themselves to a 27-point lead, 76-49, and are well on their way to evening the series at 2-2.

The 27-point lead is also an NBA Finals record for the largest halftime lead by a road team.

The Spurs shot an astounding 60% overall and 54% from beyond the arc.

Meanwhile, the Knicks just look lost and are a shell of the team that ripped off 13 straight playoff wins, including victories in each of the first two games of this series.

The Knicks shot 41% from the floor and were just 4-of-12 from three-point range. The Knicks did shoot 23 free throws but made only 15 of them.

The Spurs were a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

If the Knicks are going to come back and win Game 4, they will have to make NBA history to do so, as the biggest comeback in an NBA Finals game is 24 points.

We’ve seen the Knicks overcome a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter of a playoff game in these playoffs, but there has been nothing to suggest New York is capable of pulling off a miracle against San Antonio on Wednesday night.

Taylor Swift will get married at Knicks’ home court

Swift made headlines again recently after reports indicated that she and Travis Kelce will get married at the Knicks’ home court, Madison Square Garden. They will exchange vows on July 3. The change of venue from Rhode Island to New York City first came to light in April. The New York Post confirmed it on Friday.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported a few hours ago that the Kansas City Chiefs are adding two years to Patrick Mahomes’ contract, which will now run through the 2033 season at a value of $504.75 million. That makes him the first player in league history valued at over half a billion dollars.

The new money in the deal is $239.05 million. Starting in 2027, Mahomes will make around $64 million per year, which will also be an NFL record for annual average salary.

During his time with the Chiefs, Mahomes has won two league MVPs, three Super Bowls, three Super Bowl MVPs, and six Pro Bowl selections, among others. The 30-year-old is one of only five quarterbacks in NFL history to win at least three Super Bowls as a starter.
