LIfe Choices - Sleeping with a Rat or a Snake

Sometimes life demands of us to make a decision.

Would we prefer to sleep with a snake or a rat is one of them.

Yeah, I hear ya. You've slept with both of them. And sometimes, your sleeping partner was both of them at the same time.

That's not what I mean.

I mean a rat rat and a snake snake.

A woman in China woke up in the middle of the night to find a 4.5 foot snake getting ready for a midnight snack of a rat.

She fled the house and called the police. Which is why I am not a policeman.

Memorial Day is coming up.

For me, it's not just about those who died. What about those who are still living?

Veteran's Day maybe?

Everyday is a day to remember those who lost their lives, those who lost arms and legs, those who lost years of their lives to preserving or helping create the only way of life we know.

"Before You Go" is a beautiful song with a fascinating story behind it.

A professional musician was greeted bitterly late one night by a WWII Vet giving him change "I took two bullets for this country and look what it got me."

When Rambo Died

Rambo died. Killed. Not in the jungle or with a missile or even starved to death in a prison.

Rambo died on a bus.

Rambo died after publishing more than 2,500 songs, gospel songs.

Rambo was even inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Of course, it's not THAT Rambo.

Dottie Rambo, 74 years old, was killed in a bus accident on a Sunday morning on her way to a Mother's Day performance.

This Rambo was also inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame last year and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

Murderous Mary and Capital Punishment

I love my students. They teach me so much.

Just today I learned about Murderous Mary.

Seems Mary the elephant, yeah, she was an elephant, trampled a guy during a parade. The city decided that Mary had to pay for the crime.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, life for a life.

Problem was, they couldn't figure out how to kill Mary.

I have a good friend. He's a top rate scientist, astronomer (worked on the Hubble), works for a huge space firm, and is also a Christian.

He sent an email to some friends, and I was fortunate to get it too.

I didn't like how it started out. I love how it ended.

Why Would You Want a PhD?

I hang out with a lot of smart people. It doesn't make me any smarter. Kind of like having my office in my garage for a year and I am still no closer to being a car than when I moved in here to work.

On any given Sunday at the small church where I attend, around 50-60 people, there are about 6 PhDs. More than one in ten. I can do math a little, but not a lot.

One of the men in the church approached one of the PhDs and mentioned that he (not the PhD) was thinking about getting a PhD.

The debate is NOT over. Global warming is not forgone conclusion. Human caused global warming is NOT happening. And humanity is wasting its efforts trying to fight the natural course of things.

Human caused global warming is not a forgone conclusion.

We do NOT need to continue wasting trillions of dollars fighting a losing battle.

What goes around, comes around - including the temperatures.

How about we spend the trillions of dollars wasted on:

1. reducing our dependence on foreign oil

2. promoting energy independence

In order to advance in Academia, it seems there are requirements, one of which according to Rob at www.procrustes.townhall.com is throwing your brain over the battlement with the babies.

There are more foolish requirements:

1. Believe in Darwinism. The key word is believe because it definitely requires huge faith.

2. Believe in human caused global warming. There's the key word again - believe. Call it a blind faith if you will.

3. Think that all corporations are inherently evil.

4. Demand that research be federally funded
