Jackson was caught on tape making disparaging remarks about Democratic Presidential candidate, Barack Obama. The fact that these remarks were caught by Fox News shouldn't be a surprise either but you'd figure with all of his experience, the good reverend would have known better than to make such inappropriate comments about Obama to begin with. (Really Jesse!? You were expecting to have a closed mic after commenting on Fox News!? Surely you jest!)

Unfortunately, Jesse and the rest of the civil rights dinosaurs just haven't been able to get beyond their own irrelevance. Having made his fortune from race baiting and corporate shake-downs, Jesse can't seem to get over the fact that the days of holding the government accountable for personal irresponsibility are no longer. For years, he has claimed to speak for black folks and the media has always believed him. Let me say it for the umpteenth time, Jesse Jackson has never been my leader nor does he speak for me or anyone I know.

The fact that Obama has broad based appeal must really burn Jesse up because that something he's never had. Obama's speech about black men needing to take responsibility for their children is a message that Jesse should have been giving years ago. Obama was saying what needed to be said. Although Jackson has apologized to Obama, like most apologies delivered these days, don't mean anything.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Since the one-sided run-off election was held a few weeks ago, Mugabe installed himself as the obstinate ruler and has turned a deaf ear to his critics, even on his side of the world. He ignored Nelson Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu and a host of other African leaders who have criticized Zimbabwe's recent election as a fraud. Unfortunately, criticizing Mugabe only makes him more obstinate.

After his landslide 'victory' a few weeks ago, some members of the African Union have finally stepped forward to criticize Mugabe for his heavy-handed rule, namely Nigeria, Bostwana and Liberia, whom Mugabe quickly branded "western stooges". Oblivious to the sage advice of Nelson Mandela and criticism by other African leaders, Mugabe left last week's African Union meeting in a huff. While all of us in the west can "go hang", what happens to the people of Zimbabwe?

I am surprised that African leaders have step forward to criticize Mugabe because I believe African solutions to African problems in this case have always meant mollycoddling the dictator. I haven't figured out what it is about some African leaders who never want to yield power, ever. Reminds me of Mobutu Sese Seko, former president of Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo. Unlike Mobutu, Mugabe has run one of Africa's most profitable economies into the ground. The same man that brought an end to British colonial rule has also brought on starvation and one of the lowest life expectancies in the world.

Like previous despots and dictators, Mugabe is intent on either having his dead corpse dragged out of office or being run out of office in disgrace. He can blame the west for his country's travails all while creating more violence and intimidation against his critics and the opposition. While I don't rule out some kind of covert influence by the British and possibly the Americans, only Mugabe is to blame for the abysmal state his country is in. It's official, Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF cronies have run the country into the ground.

Stuck between a hard-headed ruler and a salty former colonial power, the people of Zimbabwe are the ones who suffer. Mugabe's move to suspend food aid distributed by the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) ahead of the run-off election was the most callous and heinous act he could possible impose and sounds like a page out of the colonial master's playbook.

With all this said, I've concluded that democratic elections in Africa are only democratic when those already in power get to keep it. And for rulers like Mugabe, to keep that power, they will do anything and everything.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Miss Hillary has finally decided to step her big head aside and let Barack Obama shine as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. I don't know what they said to old girl to get her to go away but I'm glad she did. Now she's going to give a concession speech on Saturday to her supporters, wonder what that's going to be about? After all of the crap her campaigned has pulled, I don't believe for one minute she truly supports Obama.

As we've seen over the past few months, that Clinton Bag-o-Tricks is just as relentless and ruthless as ever. If you'd ask me before yesterday, I would swear that old girl was staying in the race long enough to dig up some dirt on Obama and emerge as the only electable candidate between the two. My second theory had to do with the possible assassination of Obama, the first black man to win his party's nomination for president. Of course, Hillary brought that up during an interview a few weeks ago and she was rightfully chastised for invoking Robert F. Kennedy's assassination during the 1968 California Democratic primary. How tasteless and crass but she was serious.

I'm looking forward to seeing who Obama will pick to be his running mate. He can't pick Hillary because if he did, I would be very disappointed in him. I'd like for him to pick someone like John Edwards who could strengthen his credibility with Southern voters but also provide some much needed political experience to the ticket. An Obama-Edwards ticket would definitely be easy on the eyes too. Other possibilities, Bill Richardson who is mega-talented in diplomacy and has some excellent experience as an ambassador, cabinet member and governor. As much as I'd like to see that ticket, I really don't think people are ready for a black man AND a Hispanic on the same Presidential ticket; the racists would have a field day in the name of racial solidarity.

Between now and November, we're going to hear enough about Obama's blackness. Too bad the media can't get beyond Obama's race (and his former preacher Reverend Wright) and let him just deal with some real issues. No one ever holds John McCain accountable to other white people because he's white yet Obama can't go a day without mention of his race. And we know, he has the black vote on lock just by virtue of his blackness ! NOT!

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it: black people are not monolithic. Sadly, some people will never give Obama a chance just because he's a black man and they can't get beyond his skin color. I look for the disgruntled Democrats from Hillary's campaign to side with John McCain for this very reason; they can't bring themselves to vote for a black man in 2008.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

He either bumped his head or had his brain sucked out with a straw because nothing George Bush has done as president is worth continuing. Today he releases pounds upon pounds of his medical records today when most people have gone on vacation for Memorial Day. I'm not interested.

By all accounts, this hasn't been a good week for him. He's had to repudiate John Hagee, the fundamentalist preacher who was bound to slip up and say something stupid sooner or later. I'm sorry but fundamentalists and zealots of any ilk are very dangerous. Actually Hagee has been saying stupid things all along but in a desperate but unnecessary attempt to woo the religious conservatives, McCain hooked his wagon to Hagee's star. So God created Hitler and the Holocaust to hasten the creation of Israel!? He should have seen this coming, but desperation can put you in all kinds of embarrassing predicaments, just ask Hillary Clinton.

Now that's some scary crap but what's even scarier is that McCain intends to continue many of the policies that make President George Bush, the most unpopular president of my time. Bush is only unpopular with us poor working stiffs who pay $3.99 a gallon for gas and are forced to make hard decisions about what we buy at the grocery store each week. If McCain is trying to win my vote, he's going to have to do much better because right now, I'm not impressed.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

He made visits to Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel spewing his 'it's my way or the highway' diplomacy to all of our minions. His timing was perfect; we're going into year six in Iraq, our 4,000th soldier has been killed in combat and more than 80,000 others have died there.

In spite of the fact that we live in a democracy, he has done everything in his power to circumvent the checks and balances that are supposed to prevent one branch of government from becoming too powerful. We share ideas about business and eco-friendly ways to make money while also making the world a better place. One of the members of our group sent a very disturbing email last week. The person was either jerking everyone's chain or was really serious. This person was serious.

After the message was sent, many of our members jumped on this person's case and an apology was issued.
As scary as the message sounds, it appears that this person is not the only one who espouses such disturbing beliefs. The good thing about being an American is having freedom of speech and being able to express opinions that are not always part of the mainstream. Here's what they email said:

How can any American vote for a Muslim to be President of our country? It was Muslims who knocked down the twin towers, killing thousands of innocent Americans. It is Muslims who are killing thousands of our soldiers fighting the war on terror. It is Muslims who do and say NOTHING against the Muslim attacks on innocent Americans. It is Barack Obama who is against the war on terror. Whether or not he currently (or openly) practices the Muslim religion, he has a Muslim name and Muslim roots. He has stated that our troops should be out of Iraq by March 31, 2009 (within a couple of months of taking office). He is Al Qaida's inside man, or at least the answer to their prayers. He also wants to give citizenship to every illegal person in this country and then give them free healthcare and jobs and money to start their own businesses at our expense.

NAME REMOVED

Red-Blooded American

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

I could have done a back handspring (in my virtual imagination, of course). I liked Richardson when he was a Democratic candidate, being being smart and one of the most qualified of all the Democratic presidential candidates, he had the most reasonable policies on Iraq and healthcare. His campaign just didn't catch fire. I'm still hopeful about 2012.

A Barack Obama-Bill Richardson ticket would be 'da bomb. Our old tired political system needs some fresh air and it isn't going to come with Hillary Clinton or John McCain. It's time to do more than race-bait and mud-sling which is about all the Clinton's are qualified to do at this point. Another four years of any Clinton would be unbearable.

John McCain is just as scary; any politician who mistakenly asserts that Iran (predominantly Shi'a Muslim) is supplying al-Qaeda, the Sunni Muslim terrorist group, with military training and weapons in Iraq is dangerous and irresponsible.

Like his Republican predecessor, McCain is destined keep the U.S. at the top of the world's most hated list. Besides, McCain's 'fill-in-the-blank' diplomacy will just be a contination of the fear mongering that has been a hallmark of the elitist, arrogant Bush-Cheney administration.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

In a direct contradiction to her call girl wardrobe, she also claims to be a prude but did not elaborate on why she has such a hard time covering up or why her new single is called "Touch My Body".

Newsflash for Mariah: Parading around in midriff tops, bras, hot pants and tight jeans isn't going to earn you an iota of respect.

Carey is distressed that she's been portrayed as "ditzy moron" by the media, I wonder what would happen if she stopped dressing like a hooker and covered up the 'girls'. It's even worse that President Bush, indisputably the worse president in my lifetime, has decided to endorse McCain as the party's nominee. **yawn** The current president probably has the worse public approval ratings of any recent president. He's been hovering around 30% for the past year or so for good reason. He and his administration have absolutely nothing to offer the American people, sure they've got plenty of swagger but they have no domestic policy and the only thing they can do with any effectiveness is incite fear among the American people.

Like President Bush, McCain is beating the war drum in Iraq. I'm tired of Iraq and believe we never should have invaded the country in the first place. We've secured the oil supply but have done little else but upend the lives of the Iraqi people and soldiers sent to fight there. With all of the money we've spent there, most people have forgotten why we invaded the country in the first place. I haven't heard that issue brought up in awhile but if you asked the President today, he'd probably tell you Hugo Chavez, our sworn enemy and President of Venezuela, was responsible.

I remember when John McCain was the voice of reason in the Republican party but that was years ago. After the ultra-conservatives hi-jacked the Republican party, you could always expect McCain to cut through all of that foolishness and hypocrisy but not any more. As he's gotten older, he's become more like them. Apparently I'm not the only one who remembers the old John McCain. Tim Russert took McCain on a stroll down memory lane on 'Meet the Press'. This clip says it all:

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

If any other candidate had lost eleven straight primaries, the media would have written them off, but Miss Hillary isn't being written off yet. Last year this time, she was touted as the Democratic candidate to beat. Things have certainly changed and Miss Hillary is sounding like the neighbor's annoying little chihuahua that won't stop yapping.

While refusing to declare her down and out, the media is now fabricating some kind of false hope that she can still win the nomination if she wins the Democratic primaries in Ohio and Texas. **blank stare** In the oft chance that she does win these two states, she still won't have enough delegates to catch Obama. It's time for her to step aside because firing campaign managers and reshuffling her campaign staff isn't going to win her the Democratic nomination.

The biggest problem with Miss Hillary's campaign is Hillary. She bought into her own hype too early and that coupled with her arrogance has likely cost her the nomination. She's losing her core supporters to Obama because as barren as she claims his rhetoric is, most people find it much more inspiring than her experienced, "ready on Day One" oratory.

Now that her ship is sinking, look for her supporters, many of whom are members of the civil rights mafia to dump her for Obama. Yesterday, John Lewis, Democratic Congressman from Georgia and super delegate, switched his support to Obama. Look for more defections when Obama wins Texas and Ohio. After all, everyone wants to be with a winner.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

While it's too premature for me to do my "anybody but Miss Hillary" dance, I'm hoping John Edwards will throw his delegates to Obama so we can end this ridiculousness for once and for all. Behind in fund raising, Miss Hillary had to dip into her personal fortune and loan herself $5 million to keep up with the $32 million Obama raised in January. If you can't raise enough money to run for president then you can just buy your way in?! Let's hope not! That just gives me yet another reason to dislike Hillary Clinton.

I bet folks like Bob Johnson and Rev. Calvin Butts are disappointed that their girl didn't emerge as the front runner after yesterday's primaries. As much as they tried to help Miss Hillary, it didn't materialize into votes for her. Tsk, tsk. On the other hand, look for the Obama bandwagon to swell with more supporters and even more haters. The Clintons are going to have to make a bigger pitcher of that haterade and invite all of their civil rights cronies. The latest reason why Miss Hillary should be the Democrat's presidential candidate, according to the folks that run her campaign, is that she's been tested by the media; seems we know all the Clinton's dirty laundry but don't know Obama's? Oh, really? I guess we'll have to wait for Miss Hillary's people to dig it up or maybe she'll call Bob Johnson again.

It's still a long way to the Democratic primary and many things can happen between now and then. The blabbermouth politcal analysts and pundits will be deconstructing Obama's victories which they will attribute to the large turnout of black folks (as expected) in such remote places as Alaska and North Dakota. Can these analysts and experienced news reporters ever get beyond race? Not one candidate in the Republican primary has to contend with issues of race, ever.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Not now.

Now that Rudy Giuliani (was he really serious?) and Fred Thompson have been rooted out of the Republican race for president, we're stuck with McCain, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. The way I see it, it's going to be a two-man race to see which candidate can pander the party's conservative, religious right. Unlike the Democratic presidential race, Republicans are allowed to stick to key issues like immigration, Iraq and the crappy U.S. economy.

No one in the mainstream media brings up race when talking to McCain, Romney or Huckabee but Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards couldn't avoid it. Republicans have always been allowed to ignore the concerns of women and minorities without being held to task. They are overly concerned about abortion but support the death penalty. They complain about affirmative action but still find ways to discriminate in spite of it.

In spite of Condolezza Rice and Colin Powell, the Republican party is the party of old white men (circa 1970) whom I have nothing in common with. They embrace profit over people, believe poverty is a character affliction and profess to be Christian. Although these are character traits that could easily apply to Democrats as well, Republicans, in my opinion, are particularly adept at these strategies.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

"Bring the Noise with Davey D" which was aired on KPFA a few times a week was truly "da bomb", Davey played rap music before there was an east coast-west coast beef and before gangsta' rap ruled. Back in the 90's, rap music was about clever rhymes, break beats and real skills. I can remember hearing some of the best rap music ever and thinking that his show never seemed to be long enough.

Anyhow, Davey has an interesting take on Bob Johnson, the man who brought us the foolishness that is BET and became a billionaire in the process. Like me, Davey thinks Bob is a hypocrite for attacking Barack Obama but his reasons are different from mine. Check out Davey's critique of Johnson here.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

This essay was supposed to be satire, but I'd say they failed miserably. The only thing the Independent succeeded in doing is confirm that racist stereotypes are alive and kicking in 2008.

Besides insulting Muslims, black women and men, this piece also takes aim at what constitutes blackness and evidently, Obama fails the test. Obama has been hounded from day one about his blackness. He has often been deemed "not black enough" because he doesn't refer to women as hos, butcher the English language or claim to be a civil rights leader. He's always been judged by people who are in no position to judge him and this includes certain black "leaders" and blabbermouth pundits like Rush Limbaugh.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Bill Clinton is often referred to as "The First Black President" by some but that's an enigma for another day.

Brother Bill was caught sleeping again at the MLK Day celebration a few days ago. Martin Luther King III was speaking and Bill just couldn't keep his eyes open. Of course, I have to talk about him for falling asleep but he was also clock-watching. He must have really been tired. I bet Calvin Butts isn't going to bust Bill out for his bad manners. Butts, a Harlem minister, praised Miss Hillary by saying the following at his endorsement announcement:

A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to elect someone who has proven through time to me and to this community and this country that she has the experience to make things happen," he said.

Okay, Calvin. I'm so glad I think for myself and don't allow people like you, Bob Johnson and Bill Clinton to influence my decisions.

Like Hillary's presidential campaign, Bill's sleeping isn't about race either. At least Bill is an equal opportunity sleeper. Both him and Miss Hillary were caught sleeping at Ronald Reagan's funeral a few years ago. Oh, the travails of a high-powered, sleep deprived, mud-slinging couple! The Democratic presidential campaign continues and Bill just can't seem to stop talking about Barack Obama, too bad he's resorted to bad-mouthing him. This is not a good look. I know Bill is trying to help Miss Hillary's campaign but this is truly going to backfire and reflect negatively on him and his wife. It diminishes them even more in my eyes; my already low opinion of the Clintons is now even lower.

Lying is something that I automatically associate with the Clintons and all elected politicians. I'm waiting for Bill to start picking on John Edwards but then Edwards isn't viewed by the Clintons as a threat to Miss Hillary's run for the White House in 2008.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

What's he apologizing for? After his harsh criticism and signifying in South Carolina five days ago, I doubt if he had any kind of epiphany about glass houses or stone-throwing. He must be exhausted doing all that darn backpedaling because he swears his comments were misunderstood.

Johnson sounded awfully sincere to me when he said:

As an African American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues -- Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book -- when they have been involved.
I'm with Obama's people on this one, Johnson owed him an apology. Johnson needs to apologize for besmirching the reputation and career of Academy Award winning actor Sidney Poiter too. It sounded to me like Johnson was doing some more of that signifying and insinuating by comparing Obama to Poitier. For someone who has made a fortune off of booty-popping and the degradation of women, Johnson wouldn't know class from crass.

I have yet to see how and why black folks think the Clintons are emotionally involved with them or their issues. Of course pretending to be "down" with black folks allows Miss Hillary to get people like Bob Johnson to do their race-baiting for them. You'll never hear Miss Hillary say what Johnson said about Obama. Realistically, Johnson is no more emotionally invested in black folks than the Clintons, he made his millions off the foolishness that is Black Entertainment Television (BET).
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

At issue here is the place of the old school civil rights leaders in the 2008 Presidential Race, it's no surprise that few want to step out and actively support Obama against Miss Hillary. After all, it's a new day and old school "leaders" like Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, John Lewis, etc. are finding their audience not only shrinking but getting older.

Funny thing is, Obama's campaign is successful in spite of their reluctance to support him. He didn't have to kiss the Rev's ring to get an endorsement nor did he have to attend an NAACP or Urban League conference to get approval to run. It's a new day for the old black "leadership", they no longer hold sway over the African American vote, not that they did in the first place, but you know what I mean.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Among one of the first to publicly voice his support for Miss Hillary while disparaging the other candidate, is billionaire businessman Bob Johnson.

Last week, Miss Hillary said if it weren't for President Lyndon Johnson, none of the civil rights legislation would have been enacted. She glossed over the civil rights marches, freedom rides and other acts of civil disobedience that were orchestrated by Martin Luther King Jr. and others. Johnson, being the forgiving supporter that he is, gave Miss Hillary a pass and jumped on Obama's ass for criticizing her.

This "ish" must be in the Clinton playbook. Get a prominent black supporter to bash Obama while you stand back and watch. Nice move, Miss Hillary. I say Obama doesn't need Bob Johnson as a supporter anyway. This is typical of how black folks try to undermine each other. I would respect Johnson much more if he hadn't been signifying about Obama's suitability to be president. Here we go....

Other than potential business partners, who takes Bob Johnson serious anyway? From the man who helped popularize booty-popping and ass-shaking on BET, he really isn't in a position to criticize Obama or anyone else. He's made millions from depicting demeaning images of his own people on television. If we're to believe him, Miss Hillary (along with her hubby Bill "The First Black President" Clinton) is a saint and savior for black folks. Surely he must jest!

What Miss Hillary is, is a politician; she's using using Johnson and other black supporters to help her undermine Obama. I wonder who's up next to snipe at Obama on Miss Hillary's behalf? Magic Johnson? P. Diddy? I bet they're lining up right now.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Miss Hillary's theatrics garnered enough sympathy to squeeze out a victory in New Hampshire. I'm still not impressed nor moved. Barack Obama had better watch out. He was right about the dump truck. Miss Hillary's people are probably up to their ears in the Obama's (Michelle too) digging for some precious mud to sling to improve her chances of winning. They've probably dispatched agents to the ends of the earth to dig up some embarrassing information on Barack and his wife Michelle and the kids too.

Although race was not a factor in Iowa and probably wasn't much of a factor in New Hampshire, it doesn't matter now. You can expect Miss Hillary to use race against Obama; expect to hear innuendo about Obama's blackness. She probably thinks her husband Bill is blacker than Obama but she's not going to say that, there will be some subtle hints. She probably thinks her black credentials are blacker than Obama's because after all, an articulate, charismatic, Ivy-League educated black man like Obama is not black enough. The Obama's net worth is a paltry $1 million compared to much larger fortune of the Clinton's $100 million and getting bigger by the day.

Also in Miss Hillary's bag of tricks, expect to hear something about Obama not being electable because he's a black man but she's not going to say that. She believes and some black "leaders" concur, that Obama is not electable and only she (and her husband) has black people's interests at heart. The fact that some black people, sell-out ministers, phonies and certain celebrities want to hitch their wagons up with the Clintons because they're "down" with black folks are no better. The alliances forged between the Clinton and these blacks "leaders" are based on money and political favors not on any kind of discernible benefit to the rest of us commoners. Watch, look and listen.

Former Clinton advisor Dick Morris who wrote most of the Clinton's political playbook has read Miss Hill's pedigree and outed her in the New York Post today. The mud is about to be slung.
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

If this isn't some of the phoniest crap I've ever seen. This stunt further shows how desperate she is to win. Tears, Hillary? Give me a break!

I ain't buying the softer, human side of Miss Hillary. Someone has changed the flavor of the Kool-Aid and old girl doesn't know what flavor she's drinking now.

Imagine this conversation among members of the Hillary Clinton for President Exploratory Committee last year:

"You've got the black vote on lock, Hillary" they said. "You know how black folks love Bill "the first Black President" Clinton. You've got nothing to worry about, all we need to do is get Jesse and Al on board and we can coast through the primaries."

"But what about that kid Obama?" someone asks. Everyone sucks their teeth and rolls their eyes until someone says, "Obama? We've got the black vote, who is going to vote for him?" They laugh and move on to the next topic, Nominees for Hillary's Cabinet.

And then came the Iowa Caucus, where Miss Hillary places third behind Obama and John Edwards. That's not such a good showing for someone who had been prematurely anointed by the narrow-minded news media and other dim-witted political analysts as the Democrat's candidate for president in 2008.

The New Hampshire caucus is tomorrow and there's a fresh can of "whup-ass" waiting for Miss Hillary. I hate to see what she's going to do next. Maybe's she'll actually shed a tear to further endear herself with voters.

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
