I am a new local DFW supplier of officiating equipment. My kitchen table is my laboratory to develop better referee gear. As an official of more than a decade, I’ve seen a lot of bad flags. I’ve thrown bad flags even when getting the call right.

I currently make, fix, and upgrade penalty flags.

As an official, it’s important to have quality gear. Working multiple games during the season, officials need equipment that will last multiple seasons. From my experience, great officials want good equipment that will last longer than a single season.

I've listened to alot of rap music in my lifetime. One of the key ingredients of Hip Hop is to represent where you're from. Master P and his squad called themselves THE 504 BOYZ (New Orleans area code). Ludacris and Nate Dogg rapped and sang about the support they received from their respective area codes and abroad in song “Area Codes”. Drake calls himself the "6 God" as the area codes in Toronto are 416 and 647.

Hands down, Jay Z is the king of New York. A few of my favorite songs by the King are "Brooklyn We Go Hard" and "Empire State of Mind" featuring Alicia Keyes. Once rival emcee Nas bragged about his "N.Y. State of Mind" on his first album. Before Jay-Z and Nas battled for the crown, there was a great rapper by the name of Rakim. On his solo album, he has a song simply called, "New York". It sounds so good given that DJ Premiere knows how to make his beats talk to you in between the rapper's lyrics. The song was featured in one of my favorite movies of all time, Boiler Room. In my opinion, it just made the movie much more gritter.

Another Queens NY native, Q-Tip, from A Tribe Called Quest left his wallet in El Segundo, CA. True story. He wrote a song about it called, “I Left My Wallet In El Segundo.” 2Pac put the whole state of California on his shoulders. "2 Live and Die in LA" is classic ode to the city of angels. Several cities are mentioned in his smash hit, "California Love", but by rule, states don't qualify for this challenge.

Outkast [Big Boi and Andre 3000] called their second album ATLiens with the self-titled track, "ATLiens". Yes, I like ‘fish and grits’ as the chorus goes and I also like the literary device they used: The Portmanteau: fusing ATLanta and Aliens together.

"Welcome to Atlanta" by Jermaine Dupree is southern staple that spun into a remix including the cites of NY (Diddy), St. Louis (Murphy Lee), and Long Beach (Snoop Dogg).

Another ATLien, CeeLo Green has a great song called “Bright Lights Bigger City” which is a song about night life in any metropolitan city across the globe.

Common and Kanye West commonly refer to Chicago as "The Go". Kanye's compadre, Lupe Fiasco, raps about his "Go-Go Gadget Flow" on his album, The Cool. Lupe says, "I'm from the city in the Midwest/ Best city in the whole wide-wide world!!"

Let's talk Bossanova for a minute…My most favorite song in this genre is "The Girl From Inpanema" by Antonio Carlos Jobim or Frank Sinatra. A Classic Jazz Standard!!

Last but not least, I have to give credit to Gospel greats, Bebe and CeCe Winans, singing about a city far above the earth... "Heaven" on their #1 Album on the Billboard Top Gospel and #10 on the Top R&B chart circa 1988.
