The fun aspect of games for the Blackberry Storm2 is that they are generally thinking games, that some way or another, make you think and analyse the situation to win the game. Generally, this type of of games are free, however, there are also excellent games with stunning graphics, unfortunately, they are not free. Pixelated is a really fun game, not my favorite, but is fun to play having in mind that its a free game. The objective is to ”convert” the whole screen to a single color. At first the screen is pixelated, and your goal is to un-pixelate the screen. The game has 6 different colors, at the top left, the ”pixel” changes color every time you press one of the bottom squares. When you change colors, the top left pixel converts its surrounding pixels to the same color. By changing colors, the screen slowly changes to just one color. You have a limited amount of clicks, after that, the game stops and you loose!

Continuing my search for the best free games for the Blackberry Storm and Blackberry Storm2, I bring you guys another exciting example, ”Lights Out.” Lights out is a totally free game for the Blackberry Storm, it is not a trial or demo version. The game is really exciting, entertaining and smart. Your goal is to switch all the lights out, green lights are switched on while blue lights are off, in other words, the whole board has to remain blue to win the game. The game is not as easy as it seems, in fact, is one of the hardest games I have ever played. Not as difficult as a Rubiks cube, but remarkably difficult. Each time you click on a square, the vertical and horizontal cubes switch color. You have plenty of time, no timer, to solve the puzzle. If you definitively can’t solve the puzzle, you can activate the hints, you will see that to win the game you have to press cubes you would have never thought of…

I have been browsing the AppWorld catalog meticulously too bring you guys the best free apps and games for the Blackberry Storm. The AppWorld is an excellent resource, but with so many apps, is difficult and needs lots of time to differentiate between the good and free apps from the rest.

I have discovered probably the best game ever for the Blackberry Storm2 and Storm. I am sure you played it at school while teachers lectured, it is the popular ”Dots.” Dots is widely popular, is a little game you can play on graph paper, you have to draw little lines and avoid completing squares, after there is no more place to avoid making squares, you have to complete as many squares as possible to win. Is a simple game but difficult to explain at the same time.

Dots for Blackberry is completely free, this is not a trial app, is just free as every other app should be. It has excellent graphics, UI, design etc… It is an excellent example for other developers to create games for Blackberry. To get Dots for your Storm2 or Storm just head here: Dots

Blackberry Storm3: Possible Touchscreen With Pull-Out Keyboard?

The Blackberry Storm2 improved the screen ”clicking” a thousand times over the old Storm, now, with the Storm2, it is much easier to press the screen and type without having any problems. However, touchscreen phones are not for everyone. Typing in a Storm2 is arguably more difficult than typing in lets say, a Bold or a Curve. Many people just find the keyboard on the Storm too difficult, unreliable, inaccurate and tedious to use.

But apparently, RIM has the solution! In the very interesting sketch above, a new design for a possible touchscreen device with a pull-out QWERTY keyboard has been revealed. We say ”possible” touchscreen because the design has a trackball, meaning that probably is not a touchscreen device after all.

The new design from RIM is probably many years away, probably, it won’t even be released. But dreaming about a Blackberry Storm3 with a pull-out keyboard is cool, isn’t it?

Twitter For Storm2: Seesmic Released For Storm and Storm2 Devices!

I am still not pleased with the available Twitter apps for Blackberry devices, they are too simplistic and lack cool effects, transitions and graphics like Twitter clients on other mobile OSs. I still use Dabr as my main Twitter client, even though, I have other Twitter apps installed on my Storm2. Dabr is not an application, it is a web app that brings full Twitter functionality to your Blackberry device, just head to: dabr.co.uk on your Storm or Storm2.

Anyway, Seesmic for Blackberry was released some days ago. I expected this Twitter app to be a bit different, what I found is just a copy of UberTwitter. Seesmic offers everything you would need on a Twitter client, the problem, is that it does not deliver the content in an elegant and user-friendly way, for example, font is too small. I am not saying the client is bad, it is very complete and offers almost all options, is just that elements in the UI could be arranged in a more good looking way. Facebook For Storm and Storm2: Update Available

Facebook for Blackberry just got updated to version 1.7.0.22. The update is available right now, for free, at the Blackberry AppWorld. The new Facebook app for the Storm and Storm2 will improve performance and fix bugs; the changelog for 1.7.0.22. is still unknown, however, having the latest version is always better than having an earlier version.

The new 1.7.0.22. Facebook is compatible with all Blackberry smartphones, including the Storm2 and Storm. To update Facebook just head here: Update. If you find anything new, please leave a comment!

Here is another awesome free application for the Blackberry Storm2. It is one of those apps that are pretty much useless, but, are lots of fun to use at the same time. The application is an accelerometer activated app, it is called ”Whippoh.”

Whippoh transforms your Blackberry Storm2 into a whip, a virtual whip. But the interesting part of this awesome free app for the Storm2, is that is not just any app that produces a whip sound every time you move the Storm. This app actually has its technique, and making it sound like a whip is pretty difficult. There is a specific move the user has to perform to active the whip. There are ten levels. The easiest level, ten, is pretty easy to activate; the level one, is the most difficult to perform. Until today, I haven’t been able to make the whip sound on level one! It has been a few days since I got this app and I have tried hard to make it on level one, I just can’t.

One of those moments I didn’t have anything to do but look at something in my Storm2, I opened the AppWorld and started to look for anything fun I could install in my Storm2. I found Tesla Pad, a really fun app but useless at the same time.

First of all, this app is completely and totally useless, there is absolutely nothing productive you can do with it; however, it is lots of fun to use and show. TeslaPad basically converts your Storm2 into some sort of electrical machine. By pressing the screen on the Storm2 simulated electricity will flow. The interesting aspect, is that although the Storm2 doesn’t support multitouch, if you press with two fingers on the TeslaPad, the Storm2 will recognize both fingers. Basically, when you press the screen the Storm2 starts vibrating and emitting electric sounds.

As I said, the app is totally useless, of course is free. I find it although useless, interesting because is kind of ironic the smartphone this ”electric” app runs in, is called Storm. Is fun to show, open at any given moment of the day, and, kids love it, they can imagine and play with it thousands of games adults couldn’t think of, just try it! Try this app with a 6 year old boy!
