Scammer Locksmiths in Charlotte

Watch this video clip (NBC Today Show: Shady Lockmiths) to see how dishonest locksmiths operate in New York. Sad to say, these kinds of locksmith scammers also exist in Charlotte.

They are usually based in another state and use local phone numbers that are forwarded. Because they are well-funded their ads show up high on online search lists. The addresses listed are in prominent uptown and Southpark locations, and should be viewed with skepticism as locksmiths are rarely located in high rent areas.

Their ads are often misleading, promising 24/7 service, quick response times, and low prices. They show up in unmarked vehicles and are often not in any type of uniform. Once they arrive on location and examine the situation, additional charges are assessed. When customers protest, they become aggressive and resort to intimidation in order to collect their fees.

Consumers are especially vulnerable when locked out of their vehicles or homes and are prone to making uninformed decisions based on hasty searches. It is precisely during times of vulnerability that careful decision making is most important.

There is good news: there are also many reputable locksmiths in Charlotte. North Carolina is a state where locksmiths are required to be licensed. You can ask a locksmith for his/her license number and verify their status on the NC Locksmiths Licensing Board website.
