type="html">Core values
My husband's company, Claris networks has core values. These aren't just words that look nice on paper or impressive on a plaque. The core values reflect how they live and breathe on a daily basis. It is an amazing place to work, upholding not only ethical work conduct but truly 'networking' with the community.
Having such a great workplace has reinforced our own family values. We have some simple motives in our home, love God and love others. There are so many other values that take root from these simple rules - respect, patience, kindness, honor, generosity just to name a few.
Galatians 22-25, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

We teach these values and attempt to try our best to model them before our children. However, it is when tested that these values hold true and really shine. On a recent business trip with my husband, that was just the case.

I had a long relaxing day by the beach while my husband sat in meetings all day. At the end of the day, we both looked forward to reconnecting over dinner. On this particular evening, there was an arranged dinner with the said organization. I had gotten ready and anxiously awaited my husband's arrival. We briefly caught up on the day's events and went on our way to dinner. We were delighted to find out that the dinner was held in the penthouse of the hotel. The view was incredible. We walked into the room, and soon were caught in conversation. I was abruptly interrupted and informed that spouses were NOT invited to this event. This information was a shocking surprise considering that detail was not communicated in the agenda for the evening and all past events would indicate otherwise.
It was my immediate thought that this is a business trip, I would just enjoy dining alone and meet up with my husband after the event.
But it was at this time, I was shown a great deal of respect. My husband stated his disappointment in the poor communication of the details for the evening. After which, he took my arm and said, " where would you like to eat dinner dear?"
It was at this time that he stood firm in placing value on respect and family first! Something to not take lightly.
While this may seem like a little thing and somewhat insignificant, it is in these small moments that the heart is truly revealed. It is at this time when protecting the fabric of your marriage and family is so important.
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
Do your actions match your value system? When put to the test, is your initial response that which reflects honor, respect, and love?

I can tell it has been a while. Not just because of the
slow pace. I ran without a plan, no destination, no distance in mind,
no time frame, no running partner. I just ran.
I could figure out my distance later with the help of GPS, just plug
in my starting point and the last landmark I noted seeing along the
way. Or I could just estimate my average mile run and how many songs
played on my iPod. For now, I don't want to get distracted (or
discouraged) by numbers. I just want to bask in the enjoyment that I
have started back into my running routine!
I enjoyed the run today. I love to people watch and especially when I
am running. I noted the 'serious' runners with the especially fast
pace and determined look on their faces. Then there are the 'I just
want to look good' runners, with the trendiest running outfits, the
best running shoes, all the best gadgets, and of course a Starbucks in
hand. Then there are the 'she made me do it' runners, you know the
ones...running because their ouber fit wives made them and they have
that 'oh so happy to be running look' on their face. My all time
favorite runner that I saw today was an older woman (we will say 80
years of age). She ran with a sports bra and shorts and no lie- her
abds were more shaped and flat than mine ever hoped to be at age 18!
The people watching definitely helped distract me from the task of
running almost to the point that I forgot to turn around.
I got back and it was too much to bear not knowing my accomplishment
for the day. In my rough estimate of songs played, I came up with 6
miles. In a more exact calculation with GPS, it was 5.8 miles. Not bad
for my first day back into the running routine.
There is something freeing to not having a 'goal' but just simply
doing something for the love of doing it. No matter what kind of task
you are doing, do it for the love of doing it! If you are the serious
runner- keep up the good work! If you are the trend setter, enjoy your
coffee and brisk walk, it's better than sitting on the couch! If you
are the gentlemen being forced to run by your wife (work wife, or any
other motivating force), just remember fitness is a choice and those
that love you want what is best for you. So put a smile on your face
and run knowing that every step you take is one step closer to a
healthier you. And if you are that older lady with great abds, running
the distance, you are an inspiration to us all.
Colossians 3:23
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the
Lord, not for men.” (NIV)

Do you have a nickname for your beloved? My husband and I have nicknames for each other. They arent your everyday 'Honey' or 'Babe', although honestly, we do use those names more often than not! But we also have nicknames that have come from some inside meaning that makes it meaningful to us, maybe not to anyone else, but it makes US smile!

My nickname for my husband is Snickers. You must be asking Why? I am so glad you asked! Do you remember the ads for Snickers? It satisfies. That is my husband, he keeps me satisfied.
SATISFIED:

Meet the expectations, needs, or desires of (someone).

Fulfill (a desire or need).

My husband = Snickers (satisfaction)

12 years of marriage, happiness and filled with joy. But what about those days when I wake up on the wrong side, what about the days when he doesnt help around the house, what about those days when he is grumpy or stressed out? Is he still my 'Snickers'?

The short answer is...Yes.

The long answer is, I have something more than satisfaction. I have comfort and FULL dependence on the Lord!

So, Yes- my sweet hubby is and always will be my cup of satisfaction but my Lord is the root of my devotion, love, and joy that I am able to derive and share. The Lord doesn't want us just to be 'satisfied', he want us to abound with His love and Joy. This kind of emotion is not obtained by earthly means but only from the heavens above.

God has given us the promise of abundant living here, but true, long lasting satisfaction will only come when sin is completely cancelled, these frail bodies are made whole, and we see Him face-to-face.

What is the area of dissatisfaction in your life? Someday it will be made right. All will be whole and well. If you know Christ, you’ll wake up and be satisfied completely.

Lord, help me find my satisfaction completely in you.

During the 5 minutes that I wait for my pizza, I see several people come in and out and pick up their orders. I see the delivery guy run in, pick up more pizzas, and run back out. I see a family sitting and enjoying their pizza together. Then the phone rings, the cashier apologies repeatedly, explaning the reason for the late delivery. Silence. A young girl trying to calm an angry customer. I see her get off the phone and obviously bothered, excuse herself to the back of the store.
This scene gets me thinking...
As I get back into the car, I share the story with my kids. I ask them to think of people that work in Thankless jobs. My kids get very excited and come up with a plan to honor our mailman and our garbage delivery man. As soon as we get home, they forget about the pizza and begin coloring pictures and cards.

It is at this time of year, that it is easy to show appreciation for our teachers, friends, and family. Try something different. Look outside your circle and honor someone unexpectedly! You might be surprised at the gift you receive in return!

This week, I got the ending of a beautiful story before I ever knew there was a story. I woke up out of a sound sleep and could not go back to sleep. As I laid there and rested with my thoughts, trying to convince myself back into a deep dreamland, the same thoughts kept repeating in my mind.
I finally had to get out the pen and paper on my nightstand and scribble down these thoughts. Remember, this is at 3am, but it went a little something like this....

Dont give me the same worn out wishes and repeated requests.

Leave your worn out requests at the feet of Jesus

and step forward in faith.

Move past the things of your past and step forward to the next beautiful step of life.

The Lord did not send His Son to die on the cross for you to relive your sin everyday as if it is Groundhog day.

Release it to Him, the author and illustrater of ALL things.

Be Thankful today for where you are but better yet,

Where you are going!

I wake up the next day and dont know what to make of it. Then, most of the week passes and I finally make time to get caught up on my bsf. It is then I realized that, even though I had not done my lesson- God had already spoken the lesson in my heart. My notes and study reinforced His message.

Hebrews 6:12

Do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

She told me about how most days she can not speak and on the days she can speak, it is only a whisper. We talked about how difficult that must be and the challenge of discipling the children with no voice. I made the comment this might be a good test of my discipline ability (in other words self control in not yelling to get the kids to listen).

I have prayed for our mutual friend throughout the past week, for her healing, patience, comfort, and strength.

God has heard my prayers, I woke up this morning with a very sore throat, raw to be exact, and
NO VOICE!

I woke up thinking, praying for my friend - knowing that my voice will come back but feeling at least for one day what she must struggle with EVERY day. As I packed the kids lunches, I noticed a kindness and understanding from my kids, I prayed she would feel this same feeling from her own children. On the way to school, we always pray, but since I couldn't, the children got a chance to lead and have their voice
heard instead of mine, I prayed my friend would also find comfort in her children's words. As the children got the wiggles in the car and I became frustrated with the inability to speak loudly (yell) at them, I prayed for my friend to be filled with patience that only the Lord could provide. Then I arrived at my bible study fellowship, after explaining several times why I could not speak, I prayed for my friend to be filled with encouragement and support. It was then time to start singing hymns. At this time I realized that even though my singing
voice is a whole lot less that desirable, it was part of my worship. I smiled and mouthed the words, praying for my friend to be filled with whole hearted worship that no words could ever speak as loud as she
could feel!

God is so good at all times.
If you ever want to know how someone feels, pray for them!

I was thinking to myself, isnt that a little ambitious to have a "talent show" on the second day of school?! But I thought, well maybe the teacher just wants to get them excited about their new class.

So, I let him go through the toys and pick out what he wanted to bring.
The next day, we are dressed and ready on time. We head out for school, first to drop off my oldest, then my youngest. As we are half way to my daughter's school, my son declares that we have forgotten his supplies for his "talent show". I knew I wasn't going back home, so I told him that he had many talents- we could come up with something else. It didnt take long before my son came up with a Plan B.
He asked if I could bring in his favorite CD (Toby Mac) so he could dance for his class! To this idea, I thought well...I think I need to walk in and talk to the teacher. When I got into the classroom, I asked his teacher about the "talent show", she just looked at me with a blank stare unsure of what I was talking about. Then she began to smile and informed me that they had just talked about the Fruits of the Spirt and how God gifts us with TALENTS. Apparently this discussion had made quite an impression on my son. So, when I told her about his idea...she ran with it!
As I pulled up to pick him up from school, his teacher had a glowing smile. She informed me that not only did he dance for the class, he even performed with his air guitar. She proudly said, "Well, at least I know he was listening to our talk about fruits of the spirt, he just took it to a whole new level".

What a great way to start his first week of Pre-School!
I recall going to the beach with my parents as a tween and throughout
the teen years. We had our favorite beach spots including our
frequented activities and restaurants. On the top of my fav list was a
Greek restaurant. I haven't been back to this particular beach in too
many years to count, if I did- it would surely disclose my nearing 40
status.
However, this year I have given into a pleading request from my
parents to bring the kids to their Florida retreat home at this very
beach! I am excited that not only am I able to avoid a 12 hour drive,
but instead lengthening an 'already-in-progress' family vacation! I am
also looking forward to seeing my parents' place for the very first
time. (they didn't have this place way back in the days)! The kids
can't wait to spend time with their grandparents.
But I have to be very honest here.... One of the things I look forward
to most is going to Manny's and getting that Greek salad that I
remember all too well. I remember just how the lettuce is cut and how
it was smothered just so with feta cheese. I have had many Greek
salads since then (my husband can account far too well the last 10+
years) but none of them have quite measured up to this particular one.
So I ask myself, is this a memory that has gotten better in mind over
all these years OR is the salad REALLY that good? Either way, I can't
wait to find out!

As we pulled up to the infamous Manny's parking lot, it looked much the same as I remembered. The sign, the parking lot, the building, even the red and white checkered tablecloths on the table. As we sat down to order, I was sinking into the comforts of familiarity. I didn't need to look at the menu, it was already decided what I would order...a LARGE Greek salad. Little did I know my dad thought this order was for the table to split. As he loaded up my plate, I couldn't help from wondering if it would live up to expectations.
I took the much anticipated first bite and well.....It was good! It was so good, I enticed my parents to bring me back for a second round at the end of the trip. Some memories are exaggerated in our minds, some just really were and are THAT good, this is one of them!

So....We have started a family challenge!

For our first verse of the week, we chose 2 Peter 1:6-7

Add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love

My daughter is like a sponge, so she quickly learned this verse and was happy to challenge me!

I also noticed that the more she said the verse, the more it became apparent in her attitude. I noticed more love and kindness between my kids.

Having the words fresh on their lips and in their minds seemed evident in their hearts through their behavior!

I commented to my daughter how kind-hearted she had been acting towards her brother. She then turned to me and asked, "I know the bible says BROTHERLY kindness but is there anything in there about SISTERLY kindness?"

Nothing like a little literal translation!

Two nights ago we had SEVERE thunderstorms AGAIN (this seems to be happening on a more regular basis) and a tornado touch down only one mile from our house. We were awakened in the middle of the night by the sounds outside our window. We had a hard time going back to sleep and debated taking the kids to sleep in the basement. We prayed for the Lord's hedge of protection, for safety and the Lord's security over us. It wasn't long before we were drifting back to sleep, comforted by His Word. He answers prayers in MIGHTY ways.

Tonight, we were awakened by a different storm.
We received a call from the neighbors to inform us that they had caught an intruder on their property. We were startled to say the least. This was not the first time we had petty theft in our neighborhood. However, this was the first time someone was caught in the act. We got up and checked everything outside. There was no damage to ours or our neighbors' property. The intruder had been caught in time. I began to feel an overwhelming comfort of God's hedge of protection around us! I pulled out God's sword of truth:

Ephesians 6:11-20~

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Thank you Lord for not only protecting us but for planting the seed in our hearts to pray for our enemies.

Well...that hasnt happened yet!
I also planned to allow myself some grace with my early morning devotions. However, the Lord has had other plans! I have still been waking up right on cue at 6am. I dont always get out of bed, and sometimes God and I have a conversation about the wake up call. I have tried to debate changing the wake up call to a later time but I havent won that battle.
I began to pray that God would give me clear direction and lead me in His Word. I honestly just let my fingers flip until the bible flopped open. I almost cried when I saw where it landed.

The Lord had lead me to Psalm 98- A song of praise.

Sing a new song to the Lord,

for he has done wonderful deeds.

His right hand has won a mighty victory;

his holy arm has shown his saving power!

The Lord has announced his victory

and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!

He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel.

The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth;

break out in praise and sing for joy!

Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp,

with the harp and melodious song,

with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.

Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!

Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!

Let the earth and all living things join in.

Let the rivers clap their hands in glee!

Let the hills sing out their songs of joy

before the Lord.

For the Lord is coming to judge the earth.

He will judge the world with justice,

and the nations with fairness.

Here I was trying to be slack when I KNOW deep in my heart the Lord is worthy of my praise! How could I not devote myself fully? Acknowledging God and what He has done fills me with a thankful spirit. As I start my day in His Word, I recognize the daily blessings more readily!

The Lord gave me a very clear message. While it may be summer, the kids are out of school and there are all kinds of fun things to do- the Lord still desires my whole hearted worship!

Today began for some of us waking up after experiencing the first restless night in a bunk bed, adjusting to the sounds of nature- are those squirrels running outside or is it a mouse in my cabin?
For others of our team, today meant being exhausted from the drive in from a great distance.
Regardless of our night, we all came together to attend church of a fellow friend and worship pastor.
It was then we were delivered this following passage:

Psalm 63~
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.

Lord, allow our hearts and minds not to be overwhelmed as we go through our last prepration day before camp, allow us to put away all distractions, renew our strength, prepare not only ours but the hearts and minds of the children coming to camp.

One of our local missionaries is a camp in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee called Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go. This camp exists to share the love of Jesus Christ. A group from our church goes up to this camp each year to run the day camp and share the gospel with these precious children. Last year over 100 campers attended and we are praying that our number increases even more this year.

Family Mission Trip Day 1~
The day started with the hustle and bustle of trying to get everything together, pack the car, and think of any last minute details. I must have checked the car a dozen times and I am still wondering if I have everything?!
Then we are off...
For some of us, the familiarity of camp comes to mind, the comfort of knowing where to go and what to expect. Then the barrage of questions begin from the backseat, 'will we have the same cabin?' 'can we swim?' 'can I do the zip line this year?'
For other members of our team, there is a bit of uncertainty, the unknown and anxiety of what to expect.

I pray the Lord will quiet our hearts and minds to achieve His purpose, to unite us together for His glory. I pray for each and every child attending camp to have open eyes to see, open ears to hear, and receptive hearts to receive Jesus as their personal Savior.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. ~Philippians 2:13

We have been blessed with a day filled with excitement for what the Lord has done for this camp, providing an impressive Boy's cabin just this year.

Our team came together for our first song and skit practice on stage

You become filled with excitement and anticipation. You start to imagine their reactions and envision every detail of the day. On top of the special something, add the 'surprise' element to the mix. The element of surprise is exciting in itself!

I am not just talking about BIG surprise birthday parties but also the simple things, as in a candlelight dinner waiting for your spouse upon arrival home from work, or the surprise weekend getaway, or even the surprise visit to the office to bring a treat.

Then...the day comes for the unveiling of your surprise. More often than not, the idea that you have conjured up in your head is not the actual sequence of events. Let's just play out a few 'hypothetical' situations-

1. Scene: You have surprised your spouse with a candlelight dinner.

a) Envisioned response: A delightful smile, an uplifting swinging hug, romantic music playing in the background, beautiful conversation during the incredibly delicious meal, followed by a gorgeous sunset.

b) Actual response: Spouse comes home with a migraine headache and nausea, is in no mood for the candlelight dinner, barely acknowledges you as he/she walks in the house, you burn the dinner, the kids are screaming, and you end up eating leftovers for dinner while your spouse sleeps off the headache.

2. Scene: You plan a surprise trip for you and your spouse to get away for the weekend.

a) Envisioned response: You and your spouse grab the bags as quickly as possible and head to the airport filled with excited conversation about the upcoming possibilities of the weekend. Your spouse can't stop thanking you for your effort and planning!

b) Actual response: Your spouse can not be out of town, has too much work to finish, and has an overlapping meeting with the trip. A quick phone call is made and the trip is cancelled. You are left unpacking the suitcases and cancelling the babysitting.

3. Scene: You surprise your spouse with a visit to the office with a special treat.

a) Envisioned response: You have perfect timing, your spouse is at the desk with a gap in the schedule, excited to see you and the kids, loves the treat and the cards the kids spent all day making. You and your family have a great visit!

b) Actual response: Your visit is in the middle of a meeting. Your child knocks over your spouse's drink into their lap. You leave abruptly.

In these type of situations and really any situation that does not go as you expect it to go, what is your response? Most of these situations might cause you to feel deflated, disappointed, dismayed, and disheartened. All these feelings would be a normal 'flesh' response.

However, what if you begin to change your mind set. Instead of seeing the absence of God and the presence of sin, you turn your attention to the presence of God, to see God at work at ALL times. God is at work whether or not you feel Him working. What if your response was an evidence of grace. Grace by definition is any observable attitude or action brought about by the presence of and empowered by the Holy Spirit dwelling in a believer. God, the Holy Spirit, is at work in all Christians at all times!

What if we adjusted our response to reflect grace in the unexpected, to rejoice, to lift one another up in our words and actions, to truly shine the light of Jesus.
Let's replay the situations:

1. Scene: You have surprised your spouse with a candlelight dinner.

a) Envisioned response: A delightful smile, an uplifting swinging hug, romantic music playing in the background, beautiful conversation during the incredibly delicious meal, followed by a gorgeous sunset.

b) Actual response: Spouse comes home with a migraine headache and nausea, is in no mood for the candlelight dinner, barely acknowledges you as he/she walks in the house, you burn the dinner, the kids are screaming, and you end up eating leftovers for dinner while your spouse sleeps off the headache.

c) Evidence of Grace: As your spouse comes home with a migraine and nausea, you realize he is in no mood for a candlelight dinner. The kids are screaming, so you take them outside to play so your husband can rest. While you are outside playing, the dinner burns which gives you a great excuse to have a picnic of leftovers with the kids outside while your spouse sleeps off the headache.

You are left unpacking the suitcases and cancelling the babysitting.

c) Evidence of Grace: Your spouse can not be out of town, has too much work to finish and has an overlapping meeting with the trip. A quick phone call is made to a dear friend that you have not been able to spend time with and could not afford to take a trip otherwise. Your childcare is already arranged, so your spouse is able to get work done and you are able to have some much needed relaxation quality time with your friend.

You leave abruptly

c) Evidence of Grace: Your visit is in the middle of a meeting. Your child knocks over your spouse's drink into their lap. You smile and laugh- sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.

God orchestrates great plans,

not necessarily the way you want it

but EXACTLY the way He envisions it.

Step back and see His glory in it all.

Motherhood is one of the most anticipated, joyous and undeserved gifts that we can ever receive!

Think back, some more than others, to the anticipation of your child's birth. This time in your life was filled with preparation for a new beginning, a time of planning, and studying new parent books. Then the big day arrived when you held your child in your arms for the first time. From that day forward, there was a new love in your heart that you didn't even imagine, a love that you never knew was possible before.
As each day passes as a mother, I have found my role is ever changing. My relationship with my children is refined every day. I have days of great joy and great challenges. Through both, I am able to see great growth in not only my children but also in myself.

Motherhood is such a difficult role to put into words.

I believe Motherhood is God's greatest example of grace. By definition, grace means unmerited favor, kindness which bestows upon one what she has not deserved. I don't know about you but the gift of my children is among the most undeserved gifts I have ever received!
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.
Psalm 127:3

I did nothing to earn the right to raise two precious lives, yet it was granted to me! The gift of my children is among the greatest of gifts of loving kindness.
It is a true reflection of God's love for us-
Refining For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver Psalm 66:10

Filled with joy despite challenge glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope....God’s love has been poured out into our hearts Romans 5:3-5

Building growth in us through it all Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. Ephesians 4:14-15

Thank you Lord for the gift of my children, for loving me enough to refine me, fill me with joy, and build me up in your great name!

The news has constant warnings of tornados and damaging winds.
We assume our protective role. We quickly get the kids picked up early from school and gather together in our basement.
We are quiet together....snuggled...just listening to the sounds of the storm outside our window. My son drifts off to sleep in my lap while we wait out the storm. As he sleeps, my daughter strokes her brother's hair and sings.
It is as if nothing is going on outside our walls.

It is at this time of sitting in the quiet listening to the thunder roll that I find comfort.
Comfort in knowing that we are safe when so many people do not even have a roof over their heads.
Comfort in knowing that we are together knowing that this itself is a blessing.
Comfort in realizing that Jesus is always in His protective role. He is mighty to save, He quiets our spirits, He comforts our troubles. We may have storms in life, but He is there holding us providing ultimate peace.

Where do you find your comfort?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort
In Isaiah 45:4 "I have even called you by your name", He has named us before we were formed in our mother's womb.

In a study today of Isaiah 50, speaking of those that walk in the light of the Lord, one of the questions referred to being kindle to the light. So, I had to look up the definition of kindle for a deeper meaning. Kindle means to arouse and be called forth, to be ignited by a single spark and spread fire, to GLOW for miles. Gasp....THAT IS MY KENDALL!!

She has been aroused by the Lord by a single spark, ignited in spirit, GLOWING to those around her! How beautiful that the Lord choose THIS name for my baby girl and called her this even before she was in her mother's womb.

I could not have chosen such a perfect name for my precious child of God but now I LOVE it even more with a consuming flame....started by my little Kendall (Kindle).

As a side note- I also found that Kindle means a collection of kittens. My Kendall adores cats and at this young age wants to be vet. Again, a more perfect name- I could not have chosen!

Brenon: Where do we live?
Me: Knoxville
Brenon: Is Knoxville a city?
Me: Yes, it is a city
Brenon: Then what is Tennessee?
Me: Tennessee is the state, we live in Knoxville, Tennessee
Brenon: WE LIVE IN TENNESSEE????
emphasis here- he was very excited!
Me: Yes, sweetie, why?
Brenon: Because Tennessee lost and Mississippi won! Can we get a snack now?

Here, I thought he was interested in geography...guess not!
