Happy One Year Birthday Little Bit!!!

This last week has been a little crazy. On Monday, the 18th, Princess had a really high fever. We went in to see Dr. Day and he gave her some medicine in the office to help her feel better. She spent the next several days on ups and downs. It was the first time my poor baby was sick and to make it worse, she was sick on her birthday. We didn't do much on Wednesday to celebrate her birthday. Mimi and Papa came over to eat breakfast and have a short business meeting, but Princess didn't want anyone but me. I was able to get her go to Gordon so I could give her some tylenol, but then it was back to mom. I felt so bad for her. That night Gordon taught institute, yey!!!! The sad thing was that we were not able to go support him. Princess was in bed by the time he started teaching.

We celebrated her birthday with family on Sunday. It was so nice to have almost everyone there. I put pictures on Facebook.

Life Gets Hard At Times

Princess woke up yesterday with a fever over 100°. I wanted more than anything that day to just be able to be a stay at home mom. I wanted to hold her and take care of her and tell her she would feel better soon. I couldn't do most of that. Yesterday I was scheduled to be in class from 12:00PM -5:20PM. My first class was a test and there was no way I could miss it. My second one, I let my teacher know what was going on and that I would have to leave early, so I did. I left UNT around 3:30PM and went to rescue my baby girl from being sick.

Her fever went past 102° with being in just a diaper all day and we called the nurse. Every time she coughs, she cries. Her breathing has become labored. She is struggling to nurse and she is not eating much of anything else.

Gordon was great with getting up throughout the night with her so I didn't have to get up each time. He would pick her up and comfort her. He would tell her she would be ok and that he was there for her. He would even say a prayer with her. Then he would come back to bed and let me know she was alright and sleeping again. What an amazing supportive husband.

We have a doctors appointment this morning...so, I need to go wake her up and walk out the door.

One of the greatest blessings that I have is my husband and his love for me. He has helped me with my self-esteem more than anything. Knowing he loves me and wants to be intimate even if I look frumpy or was mad at him earlier. He loves me when he comes home from a long day at work and I’m frustrated that he forgot some silly thing that is not really important. He loves me when I’m to tired to pick up our daughter and I playing all day and the house is a mess and dinner was never made. He loves me when I am too tired to cuddle or too busy with homework to pay attention to him other than a quick hug and kiss when he comes home. He is my refuge from the media, the ones that helps me realize that I don’t have to look or be prefect. He loves me unconditionally, that love that you always strive for and when you find it, it seams help heal some wounds that have been bleeding.

Mother's Day to Father's Day and more

I was planning to blog on Mother's day and it never happened. We had a pretty neat experience on our way to church that day that seamed only fitting for the day. We noticed a car headed the opposite direction was going really slow so we were looking to see what was going on and if they needed help as we approached. We were soon close enough to see that the car was helping a Momma duck protect its babies from other cars driving on the road. She had lead them across the street and they were going up over the curb to a pond on that side of the road. We thought it was really cute and wished we had our camera to document it.

The Spring semester ended with me taking an incomplete in one of my classes. I will be making up the class during Summer II. The following Monday after my last spring final started the Maymester classes. I made an A in that class and learned a ton. It was a great class and a great networking source. Summer I started the Monday after Maymester ended and I am taking a Special Problems class and a 10wk class that spans Summer I & II. I will get a small break in August between all my summer classes and the beginning of Fall

For Father's day Princess Peanut and I had both mine and Gordon's bike fixed as well as surprised him at work with a helium balloon, skittles and a Sonic drink all before the actual day. Gordon has always wanted a large picture from our wedding pictures up on the wall. I was able to get one printed for Father's day that he really likes, but I have yet to get it framed.

Princess is a little mover, like we always knew she would be. She crawls everywhere and loves to pull up on everything to stand. She likes to hold our hands to walk as well. She is healthy as well. We have a check up with her cardiologist next week and only expect them to tell us she is small. At 8 months she is only 15lbs and still wearing many 3 month clothes. We have only been able to put a few away that do not fit. Oh, and she has no teeth but :)

Peanut talks! Our baby loves to babble, but she has mastered mama. It took Gordon a day to realize that she really knew what she was saying. I think watching her say my name while crawling towards me is what did it for him. She will call me as she is trying to get to me and as soon as I pick her up she will stop talking and smile. What a cutie. My only thing is I have been trying to get her to say daddy for months and I have not even heard one "d" sound come out of her mouth.

The picture at the top was taken this week on my phone while Princess and I were playing. She just stopped and put her head down to rest for a little and I thought it was too cute!

Jean and I took Princess to Target last night to get diapers...We had fun looking at things and she wanted to touch everything...of course.

One of her favorite things was holding the world...

Next we went towards the diapers. This means we passed toys...

I am going to spoil my daughter...well I have already. Here is the toy she got to have so we could leave the isle. Her very own cell phone. Maybe she will leaves Uncle Mike's alone now.

We are moving in May and Princess is such a BIG help with packing as well as taking care of groceries.

We had a special sacrament meeting. We had the privilege of hearing a prophet, seer and revelator of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostle asked to speak to the members in Denton because he was going to be in the area for a meeting. What a blessing it was to set at the feet of a special whiteness of Christ and be lovingly taught!

On Friday we went apartment shopping and sweated (literally) a little, the next day it snows.

Also, Saturday I woke up with a headache and a small cough and today I have been struggling to keep my voice. Yay for drugs that help you feel better and the most amazing thing is having a husband that lets you take a 75 min nap!!!

Princess' 5 Month Update

Well, in two days, our little Princess will be five months old. To celebrate and because I never had a shower, Mimi (my mom) is throwing her a party. It's at my place so Peanut can sleep if she needs to during it. Gordon's parents will be coming up, but Gordon will be at work. She does not like to let her daddy go. Here is proof:

My Grandma Scheib (Mimi's mom) mailed us a really cool bouncer. Princess Peanut Loves it!

She has also started eating rice cereal. She also likes that. Sometimes she gets upset when the bowl is empty. We were surprised how fast she took to it. She took it so well, we gave her too much and she is constipated. We are feeding her pedialyte by a syringe since she will not take a bottle.

She is getting better. There are some ups and downs but over all things are improving. We has some trouble with her projectile vomit Saturday night, but Gordon and Rob gave her a blessing and she has not had any from then on out.

Yes, I Cried

Princess had surgery for Tets yesterday. Surgery got started a little late due to weather. Our surgeon had a little trouble driving in, but he made it and was only about 45 min late. Peanut was a little upset that she was having to go hungry, but we kept reassuring her that it was the best.

We chose her to fall asleep with banana scent because of her nicknames and because it is what I had many years ago when I had surgery as a child. She was asleep before she was poked for anything. They did have some trouble taking blood right before surgery, but they also had trouble during pre-op.

We had a wonderful team that was with her during surgery. She came out of surgery around 3: 30 pm yesterday. They even covered her up with the blanket we brought with her, so I didn't have to see all the tubes in the hall as they took her to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. It took a while for us to be able to see her because shortly after she was taken to PICU another patient had to have surgery in there and it was all closed.

We finally got to see her and stay with her around 5:30 pm. She was swollen but her color was pretty good. Shortly after we were by her side, I lifted the blanket so we could see all of her. I just cried. During pre-op we watched a video of what she would look like and what tubes would be in her, but it is hard to see it in your own baby girl.

Blood was draining quite a bit from her drainage tube. The amount she was draining actually went up over the next few hours. She was given many blood products and a transfusion. She started looking quite pale. She was eventually given something called Factor 7. This is what finally helped the bleeding to stop.

This morning she is doing better, just a long hard night. Her color is coming back and the swelling has gone down a little. She was put on a drip to help the swelling go down. We should only be in PICU for part of the weekend. We are hoping to be on the floor by Sunday morning.

Gordon will have to leave today because he works Saturday, but he will come down for most of Sunday. He will be working Monday thru Thursday so it will just be Princess and I during the week.

Peanut will have surgery on Feb. 11th. It will take about 4 hours. Her and I will be in Ft. Worth for about a week. She is can have visitors after she is out of ICU. If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask.

Mimi made a mobile...the artistic way. It is called Nana's Garden. Peanut loves it. Anytime I put her on the bed so I can put her clothes away or do something else in her room, she just stares at it. Maybe she remembers some of the people on it.

Peanut's Two Month Shots & more

Princess had a check up and shots Thursday. She did pretty good but of course she didn't like the needles. I often wonder if she will get used to needles or if she will grow up hating them like I did. Peanut gets one shot every 28 days on top of all the other immunization shots. Soon we will be getting ready for her surgery and lots of needles will be with that.

She has her next shot on the 13th followed by a check up with her pediatric cardiologist. The 20th she will have a check up with her pulmonologist in the morning and in the afternoon we will have a consult with her surgeon. We have a tentative surgery date of February 11th.

She is sleeping right now. Gordon laughs at me sometimes because I will go in and just watch her or give her a kiss or tell her I love her while she sleeps. She is just so cute.

School starts on the 19th and I am going to attend part time (3 classes). Tomorrow I will be sending all my perspective teachers an email making sure they will be alright with me missing two weeks of classes for Peanut's surgery. Cross your fingers and say a prayer for me please. I hope they are all understanding and nice.

Early Christmas Eve at David & Robyn's

Rob & Cathe had a cute nativity that they do with the kids. We were privileged to participate this year. It was fun. We enjoyed spending the weekend with David & Robyn as well as seeing their new house. The men all helped build a deck on the front of the house but sadly, it was not finished...maybe we will have to make another trip down to help ;)

Pretty, Pretty Princess

We have been enjoying our beautiful baby girl and all her smiles. I will try to update everyone and if you have any questions, please let us know.

Peanut has Tetralogy of Fallot (Tets). This is a congenital heart defect and she will have surgery. After surgery she will be fine, with just check ups once a year. Her Tets does not cause her pain, however due to it, she gets to see a Pulmonologist and get a synagis shot once a month until March or April to help her not get sick. This shot takes her chances of ending up in the hospital, if she gets sick, from 80% to 20%. During this time we are not to have her around many people, so....I am attending sacrament with some friends at 9:00 a.m. and Gordon is attending our ward at 1:00 p.m. This way we can both partake of the sacrament and still take care of our daughter.

Our Peanut's tentative surgery date is February 11th. We will meet with her surgeons on January 20th and will find out then if the date will change or not.

I will be posting little videos of our Princess and some of our family on our family website later today so everyone can enjoy the family.

Gordon and I have to be at the hospital by 8:25 a.m. in the morning. Unless things get interesting tonight with the contractions I have been having, I will be induced tomorrow.

It is exciting to thing that we will get to see Peanut so soon (it is also a little scary). I think that it is all very surreal for us both still. I guess tomorrow that we will be slammed into reality, ready or not.

We are planning to have the baby blessing on November 7th. More information on it will come as we get a little closer.

With having less than a week from my due date and finally feeling better from being really sick, I am a little scared but I have a wonderful family and an amazing husband.

Long ago I decided I wanted to have a "natural" child birth. I am so grateful for my mom and Gordon and their amazing love and support. They are so encouraging and loving. I know so many people that think I am crazy and even people that are related to me that would like to convince me to give in now and have an epidural. It means so much that in the whirlwind of all the negativity about my decision, I have two amazing people to physically stand by my side and I know even with them, I have my Savior to lean on as well.

Gordon and I have been going for walks every night. I feel so blessed to have such a loving husband who will walk slow around our complex a million times because I am afraid of walking too fast for too long for fear it will send me into labor.

Being Productive

Gordon and I are just waiting until Anna is ready to make her debut.

In the mean time...

Gordon and I decided that we wanted to be self-reliant and proactive, so...

I made banana bread and muffins that are now in the freezer, we can heat them up in the toaster or microwave for a snack or breakfast. I also have a strawberry-banana fruit leather done.

In the next couple days I plan to make granola bars, rice crispy treats, more fruit leather, some homemade ravioli that we can freeze to pull out for dinners and another batch of homemade hot pockets. This is all so if I don't feel up to cooking or don't feel like I have the time, we will have plenty to rely on...not to mention homemade food is always cheeper, healthier and taste better as well.

I only need to remember that I can't do it all at once and that it is not a big deal if it all doesn't get done.

Things I have learned...

I have learned quite a bit in the last two weeks(not in order):

1. I get really bad headaches when I don't get enough rest.

2. Heartburn is different for everyone and now I know what it feels like.

3. Heartburn can literally burn your throat and tongue (you don't want to feel that, trust me).

4. Heartburn can make it so it is very hard to breath.

5. Heartburn is normal at this stage of pregnancy.

6. Gordon is extremely patient with me, even when I'm sick, grumpy and get nothing done ALL day.

7. The baby's room is smaller than we thought, but the dresser fits into the closet nicely.

8. I love work and my boss, but I just want to be home.

9. Everyone is way excited for Peanut to arrive.

10. We don't have as much as we thought we did for her and will need to buy more of everything.

11. We should find a time for a baby shower/meet and great.

12. Time goes by so fast. It feels like we were just dating and not we have been married and about to have a baby all at once.

13. More people want to help and we never know what to get help with (and we are prideful) so we never accept help.

14. We are so blessed to have family so close and so helpful.

15. Baby blessings can be in other wards that are not yours and they can also be done in your home.

16. If you go to the ER when you are pregnant, they take care of you immediately and they also transfer you to Labor & Delivery as soon as possible.

17. The ultrasound technician doesn't give you warning when she changes wands and all of the sudden there is a 4-d image of your baby on the screen.

18. Babies turn when they want and sometimes they just don't turn.

19. Heavenly Father knows what is best for all. He loves each of us and you will always be comforted, even if your emotions are confusing.
