This past weekend Ethan and Jack were playing an epic game of Bugopoly in my office when Henry and Miranda woke from their nice and long nap. They were ready for a snack right away.

This video is kind of long, but trust me… it’s cute.

First night without cribs

I need all sorts of valium after tonight. See, we had to take apart the cribs because Henry vaulted himself from his crib into Miranda’s crib twice during naptime. I couldn’t let that happen again as one of them could get hurt, so we decided to have them sleep on their mattresses on the floor.

I present Miranda and Henry when they first entered their room and discovered the cribs were gone:

I managed to get Miranda to lie down, but only after she piled up all her blankets and animals and such in just the right way. Henry, on the other hand, was showing no signs of slowing down:

Out of desperation, I moved the mattresses together. Miranda finally fell asleep around 9:15 (bedtime started at 7, mind you), and I could tell Henry was just not feeling it. He was clearly not comfortable. Jack came in and relieved me, and Henry ended up falling asleep around 10ish, with Jack lying nearby.

Eeny meeny miny mo

Ethan has this crazy version of eeny meeny miny mo. He did it for us tonight and we totally were convinced he was making it up. Then we made him do it for us again on video and it was exactly the same.

Blabigail syndication

I’ve turned off the syndication to my Blabigail blog, and I’m going to remove the Blab posts that have already been duplicated here. I think it was a little too confusing. I will be putting a feed in the sidebar of this family blog so you can click through to new Blab posts from there.

One of Ethan’s favorite activities to do at home is to play “soccer” with Jack in the backyard. They have an area on the side wall which is the “goal,” and they take turns being the kicker. The kicker tries to get three “goals,” and then it is time to switch and the kicker becomes the goalie. The rules are slightly ambiguous, and are skirted with frequency by the smaller Bowling, who darts around like a sandpiper.

Tonight I saw Ethan display a maturity with the game that I had never before seen, including a comprehension for strategy, and an ability to shake off a missed goal. When Jack, to his own horror, kicked the ball right into the side of Ethan’s head, Ethan stammered though his tears — almost immediately, “It’s okay, Daddy, I’m okay. I know you didn’t do that on purpose. I’m okay.”

Four minutes later I pulled out the camera. This is my boy, whirring brain meshed with whirring body.
