In any discussion of prayer, we must start here: Why Pray? If God is all-knowing, what difference could our prayers really make? If we never really settle on an answer to this question, we run the risk of skimming through life, never going deep in our faith-journey. We may just give up on prayer. We may pray – but it’s likely to be out of some sense of obligation or fulfilling expectations – but it won’t be from a pure heart if we don’t wrestle with this question.

Jesus teaches about prayer in Luke 11:1-13. He seems much more interested in invitation, rather than explanation when it comes to talking to God.

“There is something which makes Christianity more than a religion, more than an ethic, and more than the idle dream of sentimental idealist. It is this something which makes it relevant to each one of us right now as a contemporary experience. It is the fact that Christ Himself is the very life content of the Christian faith. It is he who makes it ‘tick.’”

This quote from Major Ian Thomas is the starting point for this message on Galatians 2:15-21. Wayne explores the truth of Jesus Christ living in and through the believer.

A strange question, perhaps, given that a man who was dead is alive again. And yet, the way Luke tells the story, it seems Jesus’ compassion is focused on the widowed mother. This is a fascinating episode that reveals a lot about how, when, and where God’s glory shows up!
