That day as ever I kept staring the laptop's screen trying to read what ever was on the page. Kept reading many blog posts, checked tweets on twitter and kept refreshing the time line countless times. Kept stumbling the blogs and their posts but hardly could read any posts though they were all really interesting. Then I was sure that I can no longer read but there was hardly any other way to pass time. All of a sudden landed on a photo blog. It caught all my attention. There was something in its template that made me feel it was really an apt template for a photo blog! And there was this thought of having a photo blog from many days recently (Must be the influence of the people I follow on twitter and Facebook! Loads of great photographers there) And hence you have my new blog which is called The Busy Blog : Photos

P.S. : I know it is really senseless. But as many bloggers say they do not know why they blog but they just keep blogging. For this particular time, get me in that set.

MicroMax Q3 Mobile Review

This is the first mobile phone review on the Busy Blog. Another tag in the Tag cloud of the blog gets added.

Feature List of the mobile:

1. Dual sim support
2. 1.3 Mega pixel camera
3. Supports up to 2 GB external memory. (Memory card)
4. Ezpad (QWERTY Keypad)
5. Opera mini browser and Nimbuzz app.
6. Audio player, video player and FM radio
7. Accessories/Others: Leather pouch, headset and USB cable.

The MicroMax Q3 mobile speaks about the need of a low cost internet and other above mentioned features supporting mobiles in the market. And it is an absolute fact that there is a need for such mobile phones too. I was initially amazed to see such a phone come up but there were a lot of observations I made. These need a mention and also form my style of mobile review.

Appearance and Styling:
The Q3 mobile looks okay to me. It is actually good and scores better marks when you compare it with its next/higher alternative - the MicroMax Q5 in terms of style. There is a steel colored border strap to the mobile that screws up the elegant black colored mobile. The ratio of area occupied by the screen to keypad is good in terms of look.

Cost:
This phone is definitely economic and is a good phone in terms of cost. The cost of the phone is INR 4100 couple of days back when I happened to purchase (of course not for me though :P) including VAT, MAT, BAT etc.

Functionality:

Dual sim support: The dual sim support would definitely impress the busy people who have been having a hard time maintaining their multiple mobiles and numbers. Placing a call or receiving is pretty simple from either of the sim cards.

Camera: It is just another 1.3 Mega pixel mobile phone camera and the quality of the pictures captured is good.

Audio player, Video player and FM Radio: The audio player in my view scores the maximum points in the entire set of phone feature list. The quality of sound is good and volume levels are good and loud. The radio is good and the video player is decent and just serves the purpose.

Ezpad (QWERTY Keypad): For all those who love messaging, you would definitely love this piece. Typing is bliss.

Others: Supports up to 2 GB external memory through micro SD memory card. Nimbuzz and opera mini apps ready to use. Headset is decent.

Busy Blog Comments, Observations, Recommendations and Ratings:

Initially I was totally excited about the phone but it definitely disappointed me in more than one aspect very early. To start with, It gave me an impression of Indian version of China mobile phones that are available in the market. However, the China pieces score better in couple of key areas. The screen size is good but the color support is bad. The phone is definitely slower when you keep pumping in data. The Opera mini browser or the Nimbuzz app takes ages to load unlike many other mobiles. In the 3 days, I have used I phone hanged twice. I hardly take anytime to use or get familiar to a new mobile phone but this piece is definitely letting my statement go low. I am still not successful in figuring out how to change the damn green colored theme. Looks like I will have to read the user manual for the first time in my life for the sake of a mobile phone. The Ezpad (QWERTY Keypad) loses its easiness and use as there is a terrible mess up in the placement of couple of keys and their attached functionality.

The home button, the middle button in the navigation area and the call button of sim 1 take turns in being the right key to correspond to the operation specified in the left bottom area of the screen. The keypad lock and unlock is a good example of the same. You need to use different set of keys to perform these operations. Using internet on this phone with the above mentioned key conflict becomes miserable and may often lead to user frustration.

It appears to me as a phone made in a hurry. Any mobile manufacturer primarily aims at making the keys and their attached functionality appear obvious right from the icon they choose on the key. However, this model needs a definite modification for a better future. The model mimics the blackberries, Nokia E- series phones and their likes but lacks the most essential efficiency perspective.

My advice to people considering this phone is pretty simple. If your main intention of having a mobile is a dual sim support with multimedia and camera etc., then go for it. It is economic and good. And if you look at it as an internet phone, please consider Black berry, Apple Iphone, Nokia’s E- series and other good pieces. It is okay for people who never use or hardly use internet with this mobile but not the other set.

Ratings:

If I consider that the users are of two categories, this is my rating.
For users whose purpose of phone is everything apart from internet: 3/5 stars
Users of internet over mobile: 2/5 stars

P.S. : So the market is still open and is in the need of low cost internet phones! So tell me who wants to invest for me to conquer this segment of market :P

Chapter X: The wake up call

Folks this is a chapter from the book I am currently writing. Pardon my poor writing skills and vocab.

Chapter X: The Wake Up Call

It was 5:00 a.m. At one stroke Harsha got up. OMG! He could not come out of the dream. But to his surprise the phone call had something more to do with him. “Tring tring” and the phone was still ringing. He slowly got near his mobile with a hand still on his forehead. He lifted the phone and then said “Hello! Who’s it?” in a very lazy and almost sleepy voice.
“Hey Harsha! This is Sai”, the voice replied and Harsha was shocked. Sai was his classmate and was a very close associate of the faculty. If there was any news, he was always there to broadcast. Most of the times, the messages were cautions about almost inevitable troubles to be faced. No wonder Harsha was surprised and more because Sai never made a call to him.
He was still wondering what made Sai call him at this hour. The dream and the untimely call had led to amalgamated thoughts. He was in a dilemma whether to call it a headache or not. There was a pause and absolute silence.
Sai said “Hello!” again to confirm that Harsha was still on the line. Harsha had quickly replied “Yes! Yes! I am. What’s up?” to assure Sai that he was still hearing. The quick reply was essential as Harsha’s phone was special and there were standing instructions that if you do not have an immediate reply, hang the phone down. Without Harsha’s phone, the daily sports of soccer and catches were impossible in the classroom.
Sai replied “Thank God! So your phone is working!” Now this troubled Harsha even more! Everybody knows there are a set a people whose call itself is a surprise and if they talk something positive, then that is surely the end of the world. The only thought that came to Harsha then was “What makes this guy call my so sweetly and properly functioning phone and that too at this hour?” He was fixed to get into business right away. He asked Sai “What’s the news brother?” and then the much awaited news is out from Sai. “Man! There is a bad news” Sai said. Harsha managed a smile for he already knew there was one when this guy called him. But in a curious voice he replied “What’s wrong brother?” The news was that their final year project demonstration and viva was on Sunday and it was Wednesday morning. Literally shocked to know the news, Harsha reconfirmed “What? Did I hear you properly? Are you talking about this Sunday?” and sadly it was true.
No more was Harsha indecisive, he could confirm one thing; his headache was real and was hurting. Random thoughts were fast running – Neither was internal review of anyone’s project done nor was the code ready. And above all, the project report and documentation were not started. And OMG! The dream!
With his barely there brain, all he could think was a 2 step algorithm in professional terms. Step 1: Go grab a pain killer and have one and Step 2 was to call his dearest team mates in the project.

On a serious note: How do I look?

This is a must share incident that happened with me a couple of days back. I was at McDonalds and was waiting in the queue. All of a sudden there is a girl’s voice that says “OMG! How do these people dress up when they are here?” pointing me. I was both shocked and surprised as the tone had a clear indication of sarcasm and was clear that my attire did not please her.

So, I thought why not ask what was wrong with my attire to all my blog readers specially girls. Try answering this question set below:

Is it year 2010?
Half sleeve shirt, semi formal trouser and footwear – flip flops. Anything wrong?
Do you expect people to come in suit to a place where they eat?
McDonalds has a dress code for their staff and not customers. Correct me if I am wrong!
Why are you not comfortable seeing someone in the same attire the person wearing it is pretty comfortable with?
How far is it apt to pass such a comment (even if you have one in your mind and is really true) just because he does not slap you as a reply?
Are we really educated and literate?
If this is the case, when and how will I see my India better?

There are many more questions troubling me at the moment but I stop here. I personally feel that some things can be left to the discretion of individuals and it is good not to interfere in it. I never bothered about my dressing but I surely complimented many who were impressive (#confession – Mostly girls :P) . If the place is a place of learning or worship or yours, then try troubling the person. And please remember, there is always a good way to convey anything. OMG! Loads of philosophy! So unlike me :P! But please give it a thought once you are done laughing at the post and me.

Blog turns 3

3 years of blogging and I thought it is worth writing a post. On 22nd of this month, my blog turned three. Just can’t believe it. I am and was always a bad blogger. In these three years, I haven’t posted many posts and no great visitor stat too. Even then, I love blogging and I am glad I am blogging more these days. Now a little recap of the three years – time to bore you. :P
It was not a blog I had in my mind. I was searching all time to have a website. I was not sure what I would do with it or what pages it would have but I wanted one. I did find couple and started to work on its look or template to be more professional. Then it was Rahul of TechBlues shared my thoughts with him who had just created a blog. I was with him talking all the non-sense running in my head that time. After a patient hearing, he concluded that all I needed was a blog. Though I was not really convinced, I did create one and it hardly took me anytime to know that it was what I was looking for.
Unlike most of my posts that are short but not sweet, I decided this one should be long. So people keep reading! Three years blogging is really fun. I definitely know blogging better and I totally understand my blog. Initially, I started with couple of tech posts but guess what happened? I ended up having just 4 posts in year 2007. Then the next year, I decided to write anything I wanted to write and it was mostly cricket stuff. I did not like the pause and hence it was good blogging about cricket. Then involved my self in couple of other blogs and got back to mine again. Check out Cricrepublic.com, I have blogged there too. And now, a big Thanks to twitter, I came to know some of the finest people. Now I read many more blogs and I write more too. I have increased the post frequency to 8 posts per month which was 18 posts a year earlier. And a special mention about the Indiblogger meets here; they definitely changed my blog in terms of visitors, readers and my attachment to the blog and a review of it has the most number of comments on any post written by me – 35 odd!

This post is getting lengthier than I thought, so concluding it. Will write about things I learnt shortly. For now one suggestion to all Bloggers – If you have a thought to blog about, do not delay it like I do. See, this was supposed to be posted on my blog’s birthday and I ended up posting it on mine.

Autowala and Gadgets

Recently I happened to travel with this auto driver who was really interesting. The reason I say he was interesting can be easily understood if you have a look at this photograph to the right. Yes! This guy uses a music system that supports a USB pen drive in his 7-seater auto. As and when I saw it, I could not help myself taking a snap of it and asking him a couple of questions. When I asked him permission to have a couple of snaps, he was skeptical but later answered all my questions and allowed me to take snaps. However, he did not disclose his identity. Thanks to crazy things media does these days, no wonder he acted strange. It took me a little while to convince him on the whole and did fire couple of my doubts to him. And here you find what ever I learnt from him during my question session. :P

Q: Why did you choose this music system? I guess not many auto drivers would prefer having one with a USB pen drive support?

A: Actually, Got an acquaintance who deals with auto styling and spares. I asked him about this music system and he told me about it's capacity to have more songs and to replace easily. So, I purchased one. Moreover, it is not just me, there are many who use this kind of music system in my circle.

Q: How do you feel using it? Must be difficult changing songs, you need a computer for that. Do you feel the traditional cassette player music system would be much easier to handle?

A: Not really. I feel this is a good one. I love it. I can have many songs at a time. Whenever I feel bored, I exchange it with other friends of mine. As far as the cassettes are concerned, it is all the same, instead of spending some amount for purchasing 1 audio cassette, I spend it on getting my pen drive filled with songs with the friend I was talking about.

Q: What other gadgets/ do you use? What next?
A: I use mobile. Planning to buy a better one. Possibly China piece. and a pen drive with more capacity.

That's it! This is the interview I took with the auto driver. So such is the impact of technology. Everyone is ready to adopt to it if they find it really useful. It is proved with the high usage of mobiles and more with this couple of answered questions.

What happened at the Hyderabad Blogger Meet?

Missed Rahul of TechBlues this meet! Was all alone this time!

"Better late than never"

Situational quote here - applies to both the second Indiblogger meet at Hyderabad and also my post.
Wow! The second post with the same title! It is a real pleasure to attend the Indiblogger meet. Absolute fun! And here goes my post about it.

Strangely was at the venue on time. The meet began with a video being shown. The video was pretty humorous. Then Anoop of the Indiblogger team takes charge and introduced the team. The way he introduced the team was unique, one body can control themselves not smiling.

Then 30 seconds to fame was next in the agenda. 150 people and to know about their blogs was super fun. It was really good to see people of different age groups this time unlike the last time. The female participants increased. That's a great sign too! Is it not? :P I still remember the last time there was a lady who was worried about the number of female bloggers at the meet and also in general. This time she did not turn up! Would have felt better otherwise. Someone rightly pointed out at the meet that not even 2 rows of people gisted about their blog, there was a wide spectrum of topics they blog on. And yes, there are several interesting observations here:

Bloggers who blog about nothing are more in number than bloggers who feel that they blog something and Aditya of Igenero feels that they are the only people who are being true.
Another observation while this session was going on is that the phrase matrimonial meet was used thrice and they had an Einstein's equation to link it to getting nervous. No issues people, as I say the reason we love blogging is that we are more active online, on our blogs and we write more than we speak!
There was a guy who had a great timing to post his articles on his blog. He said the first one he posted was just before the first blogger meet and the second just before this meet. Hope the number of posts on his blog increase as well as the frequency of the meets here at Hyderabad.
If you are game for sensible bakwas, then visit Tavish's blog! No wonder he was talking about Facebook all the time.
At least 5 bloggers write anything under the sun. Now do not ask me why they left the sun.
One guy has more than 50 blogs in his account. He thought having a blog was just posting an article that's it and the blog is done and kept switching. The reason behind the successful half century! Now he has just two!
More than 10 bloggers have more than a blog. Great work people. I find it hard to manage this one blog of mine!
Couple of telugu bloggers! Good to see them.
How the hell did I forget to mention the guy who writes his inner voice. OMG! When this guy was talking about his blog, his voice + his inner voice + microphone got amalgamated and was real loud. That is when everyone came to know how loud one's inner voice can be. I guess his blog has got greater deal of all types of voice! Do check it out.
And then you have bloggers who write what ever comes to their mind. I had a question for all of them - What do you think the rest of us do?

And lot of others! I will surely keep updating the list as and when I recollect things I have missed out. The next session was to get feedback and comments on our blog. It was fun going around people and writing comments on their chart. Came to know about many bloggers and did receive couple from others too.

Then the quiz by Riyaz (Changed it from Rizwan to Riyaz Thanks to Desertwind :) )! Too entertaining. Awesome set of questions You can find the set of questions on his blog here Great work Riz! and post that was the tea break and this awesome video made by Vineet Rajan was shown!

Hyderabad Blogger meet - Indiblogger

Folks of Hyderabad are already pretty excited now that the Hyderabad Blogger meet organized by Indiblogger is to be held this month on 11th. i.e. 11th April 2010 at Fortune Select Manohar. The last one was in March 2008 and after 2 long years this next meet. I am looking forward for the event and have registered for the event too. There has been a lot of fun and learning when I was at the Indiblogger meet last time. This time I guess it would be more of learning and fun with Indiblogger getting more experienced that earlier and the schedule seems to be really good too! And so I have a weird list of random things I am looking at for this blogger meet!

Will make a note of interesting bloggers. I love reading blogs. So, I am sure post this meet I will add at least 10 new blogs to my Google Reader subscriptions.
No blog promotion from my end. But I will try to read how people effectively find fodder for their blog.

Lancer Modified: Photos

Couple of months back, when I was at Bhopal spotted this beauty - A modified lancer. Striking orange color, alloy wheels, spoiler and a fast and furious label to add a sporty look. Many times when a car is customized, forget the sporty look you wanted it to add, it screws up the original look of the vehicle. Some car have spoilers which at the very first look can be found really odd. However, this vehicle is pretty better. So, I am here to share some photos of it. Honestly, I did not like that fast and furious labeling on the car. Rest is good. Please do drop in your comments on it too.

Twitter and the unsaid etiquette

It is less than an year that I started tweeting. Initially I never liked it, you would not believe the gap between the first and second tweet of mine is almost 3 months. But then things changed and I love twitter. I spend more than 12 hours on twitter :P. And to get that shift, the journey is quite strange. So here is this article messed up in an unorganized way just to share some thoughts and experiences. And for people who are not on twitter, trust me you are seriously missing out something awesome on the web. Find couple of things I feel are worth knowing scribbled below!

Please follow me back:

Just because you follow a person, it is not proper to expect a follow back immediately. Understand that any person would only follow you if they find you worth following. Many times, people keep posting strange tweets and mentions to get the follow back on the day one itself and end up with tweets like "Please follow me back, I'm following you!" or "Hello! I want to make friendship!" which leave a real bad impression.

Foodie Tweets:

It is good to share updates of what you are eating or the experience once in a while when you are at a hotel or something. This would interest people because they may even want to consider the same place sometime. However, posting tweets on food like a live ball to ball cricket score update does irritate your followers.

Follower issues:

Who on twitter do not like to have followers? Many people consider the follower count to be the yardstick for popularity. Couple of thoughts here. Understand that every follower is important and try to reply their mentions. At the same time, believe that quality is the pick and not quantity all times. Having 1 good follower who interacts is better than having 10 dumb followers who just add to the follower count.

Handle and DP:

The user name and display picture are really important! 99.9% of people who interact with you are bound to forget who you are the very next day. Now, in such a situation changing user name would create problem. It takes time for others to understand that you are really you. Hence, it is highly suggested to have a single user name without changing it. However, display pictures that are similar to the previous display pictures would not cause problem as they are similar to the picture and also they carry the same user name beside them and it makes followers know that it is you.

Twitter apps, devices and replies:

Most people use their phones to tweet and the number of mentions that can be seen are pretty low if your timeline runs fast. So, people never blame anyone for a late reply or no reply at all! they have got no reason to reply to you :P

The curious case of non-interacting celebs:

My guess as why people hardly get a mention from a popular celeb is that their time lines are flooded with tweets. Trust me if you are using your phone to tweet and if you have 1000 odd followers, it is difficult to handle the mentions and guess how will be the case of celebs. However, couple of Indian celebs do interact and try to answer couple of questions.

So, that's it! missed out on many other issues. Will definitely post them in a much more organized and understandable way in the posts to come. Hope this helps.

Just another sketch - Divinity

This is the sketch I made when I was in standard IV. I was at my aunt's place in Pune and when I saw this picture on a magazine cover, took a pencil and paper and then made this sketch. I still remember the thoughts I got when I was sketching this.

Incredible India

Couple of months back I had attended a marriage at Bhopal. While I was walking on the road just in front of the hotel where I was staying, I spotted this car. Have a close look at what is written on it. I was surprised and damn happy too. For people who do not understand hindi, The phrase is "Maa Tujhe Salaam" meaning "Motherland I salute you" (Hope this true translation is acceptable)

It was really a nice feeling to see that even with dust and dirt, you can show your love for the country! Now I love my country even more than ever! Where else would this happen apart from Incredible India!

Maa tujhe salaam! Vande Mataram! Jai Hind! Mera Bharat mahan!

P.S: Back to non cartoon posts! thanks to twitter addiction of late, I have totally learnt to convey anything in 140 characters. Looks like I have to do a little practice to get back to writing longer posts. The problem is how much ever you write about the love for India, It is too less. Using toondoo and making cartoons had camouflaged the issue, but now that I taken a pause on it, will have to work on writing longer posts!

These days I have turned a true internet addict and I am at least spending 12 hours in social networking sites. Most of the time posting status updates and rest of the time commenting on others update. When ever I see this question in the update box of facebook "What's on your mind?", I say to myself nothing and wonder how people successfully post so many a day. So on the same note, here goes my latest cartoon.

IPL 3 : What's new?

The IPL is for sure the buzz word now. Great event, lovely players and lot of action! But some how I feel it is a bit different this time. Let me take you through the all wonderful IPL Oops sorry DLF IPL.

Yes! It is not IPL, it is DLF IPL! The match starts and guess what the players hit DLF maximum not fours or sixes! If a player gets out by a catch! Mind you it is Karbonn Kamaal catch! And now if the fielder is positioning himself under the ball, it is quite possible that it is the Axe effect! and if there is a close call for run out, the decision is given to Fly Kingfisher Airlines! Oh! sorry! the third umpire! And at this juncture of the game, there is a strategic time out so that there can be two and half minutes of non-stop ads. See how happening it is? And now we have to come to a crucial stage of the match, it is the time when the captain possibly makes a field change or has a quick chat with the bowler. That is when you are shown the big screen in the stadium. Of course, not to show you the players but to show you a sweet blackberry mobile. Can not remember more of the match right now. Stay tuned to the busy blog for more Cricketing action :)

Instant Messaging: Cartoon

Instant messaging is no doubt an inseparable part of everyone of us today. Day starts with checking mails, signing into im clients and getting busy with the social networking sites. Everywhere the search is to find a reason to smile and have fun! The most funniest of all I believe is the availability status on IMs. It is a strange situation where you do not know if it is their ignorance or carelessness that no matter what the availability status is you get messages. There are lot of theories, research scholars and papers submitted on people staying invisible on IM when they are online or people whose default option is busy! God! lot of curious people in this world. There are detectives too who take the help of some applications that tell if a user is truly online or not and then put this guy in trouble!

This is the reason I have made couple of cartoons here. Please do see and let me know how you felt about them. And I would just like to say that it largely depends on the other person whom you want to chat along with to determine how crucial it is to see the status and hit a message. Though not disturbing while busy is the ideal thing to do and disturbing when there is a real important problem is no harm. Though it appears to many as if the other person is a close friend of him/her and can disturb at any time, but honoring their availability status would make the bond even stronger between you. I can tell you there were surely cases when people picked up quarrels on such a silly issue. I feel that when someone has put on busy status, it is really appreciable if he/she does mention time estimate so that they can be found free.

(Parul must be all smiles. I only send her a message asking her if she is busy. What ever her reply is, I would just ask if I disturbed her and then would leave saying "Mission Accomplished". Please carry on with your work! ) lol! :D

Ever wondered how twitter would be if it had all our cartoon characters. Yes, that was the wild thought that came to me.
